I've been to Cafe de Thai & Sushi a handful of times specifically during the lunch hours as there's not that many Thai options around the area. For lunch you get a soup (miso or coconut), salad, and entree with a veggie egg roll and a slice of orange. I usually get the coconut soup. It's a Thai style soup and is creamy with a little sour taste. Inside you'll find some green onions and mushrooms. The salad is just okay. It's one of those mass produced salads that looks like it comes from a bag. However, I like their dressing - it's a sweet sesame/peanut dressing. For the entrees, I've tried the pad see ew, yellow curry, and pad thai. All the entrees come with your selection of protein. My go to is the pad thai. It comes with a few slices of tofu and your protein. It tastes like regular pad thai - kinda tangy, sweet, sour, and salty. The pad see ew is also very good and has a sweet soy flavor to go with. The yellow curry is also good however, the potatoes were a little too hard for my taste. In addition to the entree, you get a veggie egg roll and a slice of orange. The veggie roll seems like it's prepackaged as some parts of the inside of the egg roll was soggy although the outside was crispy. All in all, Cafe de Thai and sushi is a good lunch place. With the lack of asian food in the area, Thai and sushi isn't a bad place for the area if you're craving Thai food. read more

The restaurant is next door to a pizza place. Doesn't look like much from the street but has a lot of space inside. Dining area and sushi bar. We happen to be there for happy hour. Had some appetizers, beer and wine. Ordered and food came out pretty quick. Very tasty. Good size portions. Service was great. Olivia was our server and she was great. Very upbeat. So I don't rate places on Yelp as often as I should, but I figured after coming here at least 50 times over the past few years, I'd say it's time. The food is very good, consistently. The spicy level and amount of herbs/spices that end up in your food may drift slightly higher or lower here and there, but I don't think I've ever been disappointed in the dishes (with one exception). The prices for the portions you receive are fair and I can usually make two - three meals out of say, one order of Pad see ew, for instance. If you're looking for recommendations on my favorites, here they are: 1. Tom Yum With Noodles and Shrimp. It's excellent. 2. Pad See Ew. Go spicy to get more flavors. 3. Drunken Noodles. Love the big chunks of vegetables that come in it, and the flavors complement well. 4. Fresh Spring Rolls with shrimp. Its huge and the sauces that come with it are addictive. 5. The CDT roll. Order in for this one and enjoy one of the best sushi rolls around. (A little pricey but worth a try) If you're wondering what my one disappointment is, ironically enough, it's their Pad Thai noodles. For whatever reason, they're just kinda bland compared to others I've had. Like, these wouldn't even make my top three. It's truly a mystery considering how tasty everything else I've had is. This was a pick-up order just about 20 minutes ago. I went into the store and nobody was there except a young lady at the register entering stuff. It took a little bit to be recognized ,I was told to wait a minute, and she continued entering whatever and I waited and waited nobody else was in the place so finally I said can someone else get my order then she left the register. Probably the best bang for your buck of Thai restaurants in North County. They have a huge selection - almost overwhelming! So many sushi rolls, noodle dishes, curries, and tasty appetisers. The portions are probably out the main reason I keep coming back - I'd say you get about 1.5x the normal Thai food serving for the same price. Sometimes not fully on point with spices and flavours, but that's what sriracha is for, right? They are quick about food prep and definitely always gives me meals for days. Cafe de Thai & Sushi obviously offers both Thai and Japanese cuisine. We opt for the lunch specials. I ordered the Pad see ew with Tofu and it came with a Tom Kah Soup and salad. The salad dressing was a little strange in flavor and trust me I do like ginger style japanese dressing but for some reason it tasted a little funny to me. The Tom Kah was actually good in flavor. The pad see ew was also alright and not bad in flavor but I only ate half of the lunch special portion. It was a bit dry. It had a smokey taste which was good. Tupac had a chicken with garlic and he said he was very bland that he added the crushed chili looking thing. That made it more flavorful. When I placed my order for the pad see ew, the server didn't ask me if I wanted it spicy or not. :( Oh well... I'd probably come by again and try them out. This use to be one of our favorite Thai spots. However new management has ruined it. They are short staffed, little service, no more online ordering but you don't find that out till you arrive to pick up the food you ordered and paid for. Now they have to find your order and make you wait another 30 minutes. Last but not least the quality of the food has dropped significantly. Thai food is rich, flavorful and spicy. I found this to be unseasoned, lackluster, bland, and undercooked noodles with overcooked protein. If you like Thai food and you once went here, I suggest you find a new spot. read more

This has been my go to sushi spot for years. Fresh, good quality fish. This shit is bomb, just look at my pictures. I've known the chefs for a while and all of them are super cool. This is the only spot I recommend when people ask me where to get sushi. I haven't really tried the Thai food because it's so hard to come here and not eat sushi. But I heard the Thai food is damn good as well. They have a good lunch special and happy hour specials. The cajun tuna roll and nigiri is just dank!! So good. Ordered Delivery via UberEats tonight. Another place I picked up orders from, for their customers, several times. There are many to go orders here. I figured that's a good sign. They were always kind when I went in--at any time of the day... not busy or the dinner rush times. We got the chicken wonton soup, pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, coconut shrimp (5), mango sticky rice, & avocado cream cheese triangles (6). I almost gave a four star because on the application to order there was no option to choose Zero Spice (my Thai & Asian friends usually laugh at my spice weaknesses) and it rather gave a mild selection = 1-2 spice and so on. So it's back to five stars because it did allow for me to write a note and I'm glad that was there. They must have paid attention because our food came full flavored yet didn't have me reaching for a tissue or a drink to cool me off! I've ordered a 1 spice at other places before and I think they gave me a 10...& again I have friends that even at 10 spice it's still not spicy enough for them! I ordered chicken pad thai which is the go to for tasting a new thai joint. The cost was 14 for dinner entree. It came in a Styrofoam box. The downfall was it was all noodles. No lime. No bean sprouts. No peanuts. No sauce on the side which was dissapointing since I ordered 6 star spicy and it was 100 percent bland. Also I ordered chicken and was surprised when I bit into tofu. I dont mind tofu bit I didnt want it and when tofu is as bland as the rest of the dish it tastes like a sponge. I wont be returning due to way too many options. **BEWARE** I made a large order here thru Doordash. We wanted to try a new place.. MISTAKE!!!! We waited almost an hour for this food only to be called by our dasher saying the restaurant had already given our food to someone. The employee, "Ly---", argued for over 15 minutes with first our dasher and then 15 minutes with me telling us over and over we had to contact Doordash to fix the issue and it was not their fault they gave our food to someone else. The employee couldn't even remember if it was a woman or man who she gave the order to! She just kept repeating herself that the food is gone and they won't re make my order! I had Door dash in a chat message and they called the restaurant only for the employee to tell Doordash that they needed to check their report and find out who picked up the order.They also told DD it was their responsibility to make it right. Then the employee told me to wait another 30 minutes to see if the food arrives at our house and that this has happened to her before!! Only after I told them I was going to write a Yelp review did they offer to re make our food.At this point it had been an hour and a half since I placed my order and 8PM. DD cancelled the order. I will not do business with a restaurant with such horrible customer service! SHAMEFUL! *UPDATE* Within 10 minutes of posting this review the restaurant called Doordash asking for my phone number so they could call me to further explain why I didn't get my food. I told DD NO WAY! Do not give them my phone number!! They had plenty of time to remedy this situation when I was on the phone with them or when the dasher was telling them they made a mistake or when Doordash called them to let them know they made a mistake and all prior to me writing a Yelp review. There is zero explanation needed other than fixing YOUR mistake when it happens and not when someone writes a review. If this restaurant cared at all about their customers, that would have been the route they chose immediately upon realizing they made a mistake. Tom Yum soup is one of my favorite Thai soup, and I found this one to be quite tasty. My panang was quite good. The scoop of rice, what looked like it was equivalent to a table spoon wasn't enough to finish with my curry. So I was not too happy to have curry soup. I'm not exaggerating, either cut down on the curry serving size or add at least another scoop of rice. The service was quick, but not much speaking. We came during the week and found the restaurant to be quite busy. I would like to return and try some other dishes and maybe a dessert dish too. The Thai Iced tea was perfect.
