We stopped by Cafe Dimona on a whim while passing through Fredericksburg after a weekend trip to the Hill Country and I think it might have been one of the best highlights of our weekend. The food was amazing, all the original recipes of the owners grandmother. I HIGHLY recommend the HUMMUS THE WORKS it was absolutely heavenly! The waitress/hostess was so personable and gave great recommendations. I love when you can tell employees actually love the food they serve. TLDR: Stay for the hummus, Pita, and fresh squeezed mimosas, then leave Cafe Dimona is a sweet little gem, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the upgraded hummus platter. While the produce was fresh and vibrant. I found the entrees to be lacking.. the short rib was bland, and tasted just like gravy. The lamb was decent, but nothing special, it was missing a sauce like tzatziki. The "soup" that comes with the lamb had zero taste, I don't think it was fresh, or it was never salted. The sauce plate was fun, but I would be remiss not to say all the sauces tasted like one ingredient (Lemon sauce tasted like i just dipped my bread in lemon juice?) The orange cake was actually pretty tasty, but it's literally just cornbread, orange zest, and some sweet syrup with greek yogurt. Kind of nice compared to an over the top dessert sometimes. Cafe Dimona is one of the best places we've visited recently. As soon as you step into this Middle Eastern restaurant, you're immediately greeted with a platter of pita bread and dips like tahini, sahug, matbucha, and more--no nachos here. This traditional welcome is a hallmark of authentic Middle Eastern hospitality. As a local, we always get asked for the places to eat in Fredericksburg. Cafe Dimona is definitely on that list. Cafe Dimona popped up about 6 months ago and my wife and I would consider us regulars because of the quality of the food, service and atmosphere. We have consumed everything from the Branzino to short ribs and sweet potato's. Make sure you start your meal with Aylon's signature Pita. I don't eat a bunch of vegetables but I'm told the baba ganoush is everything. Our kids are also huge fans of the Schnitzel tenders and fries. read more

While searching online for lunch options in Fredericksburg on a recent Saturday afternoon, we found a listing for Cafe Dimona. Freshly prepared Mediterranean food sounded like a nice break from the various, BBQ, German, etc. lunches we had eaten in Fredericksburg over the years. We found great parking right in front, which was perfect for our crew cab pickup. The street elevation was appealing, a freshly renovated older home, simply and attractively finished, and welcoming, with a combined flower, herb, and vegetable garden (eggplants and tomatoes visible) that you walked through on the way to the front door. We were greeted immediately in the foyer by a young woman who explained that although there were tables available, they were shorthanded in the kitchen and it would be about 20 minutes before we would be able to start our lunch experience. We appreciated her guidance and decided to wait. Meanwhile we enjoyed the interior finish-out of the house/restaurant; the wavy vintage glass left in some of the windows, the high ceilings that made the dining rooms feel larger, and the spacious kitchen across the back of the house. In about 10 minutes she took us to our table, where we ordered a couple of glasses of wine and a hummus appetizer. The accompanying, house made condiments (lemon kavush, tahini, a tomato based one and a green, pepper based one) were fresh and delicious, each in their own way. Fresh, warm pita bread was also served with the hummus and it was truly delicious. The serving of house made hummus was large enough that the two of us ate all we wanted and had some left over, which I enjoyed at home the next day. For our entrees we shared the short rib cigars and the lamb/wagyu kebab entrees. These too were fresh and delicious. All in all we were really happy we found Cafe Dimona and will definitely go back the next time we visit Fredericksburg. I highly recommend Dimona for a delicious change of pace. read more

The hostess was incredibly rude to our party and would not consider separating our party so we could dine here. She said she saw us walk in and would not seat us despite the fact there were many open tables. While we understood there could've been upcoming reservations, to be so unnecessary rude and unkind as a small business makes no sense. I would not recommend this establishment. read more

I didn't actually get to eat here and I wouldn't try it if you are starving in a town that closes early because this place might arbitrarily close early which is what happened to us. When we explained to the hostess that we picked it based on it being open and walked a half mile in the cold she just stared at us and gave us a few recs half an hour walk away and said "we are open tomorrow" as if we would ever return after this debacle. She told the owner we were unhappy about the closing early and he didn't care. I would not waste my time giving these people my business - especially for a restaurant off the beaten path. read more

This cute little restaurant off of Main Street is a great find! They started us out with an appetizer plate of pita and a spread of their sauces. We ordered a bottled of unfiltered wine, which is hard to find and our favorite. The main courses were exquisite and an amazing change from Mexican and German food which are much more common for the area. This was the best meal I have had in all of 2025 so far and I'm not sure if it will be beat throughout the rest of the year. We visited Fredericksburg for a week-long vacation to ride bikes. I looked through reviews and people were raving about this place. It is true that they have the absolute best, homemade, warm, pita bread in the US. Hyperbolic you say? Well come try this place and you will agree. The first lunch there I had the schnitzel. It was good but what made it great as the lemon preserve "sauce" that you have to order a side of. We loved it so much, three days later we came back again for lunch. This time I split the Shoshoka (best meal award) which had flavors I had never experienced before (perhaps from the Frisco peppers), and the flafel. No dry balls of chickpea here. The falafel was moist and hot and yummy. It is clear they care very much about their food. Everything seemed homemade from scratch. Everything was top notch for all 4 our our meals both times. I could not recommend this place more. I don't write many recommendations but this place is worth spending time raving about. Bria took great care of us as well. They will offer you a small tasting of all of the sauces on the menu at the start of your meal. Do yourself a favor and order a side of the lemon one. YUM! I'm eating it now as I dip some challah in it with a side of greek yogurt the day after we ate there. I got a container of it to go. Very happy. read more

Horrible experience! Ordered mint tea and asked for another because rotten mint leaves floating in the tea- the female manager was so rude and was going to charge for another tea- when mint is in the back and the make it- horrible service and we were leaving and the same female manager basically accused us of not paying the bill in front of the restaurant which we paid at the table - it's was so upsetting - will never go back and tell everyone we know about our experience and not to go there.
