Becoming discovered, but you can still often "sneak" in without a wait. Came evening before Mothers Day. Wife had Land and Sea filet mignon and Lobster tail. Filet was excellent--cooked to perfection. I had Chicken Limone--very good. Service was friendly and attentive. Desserts were excellent without being too big. Chocolate soufflé with ice cream was delicious and my wife said the key lime pie was very good. This place is a little gem-- one of the better restaurants in Greenville. Five stars for Greenville, would still rate 4 or better anyplace else, particularly at its reasonable prices. This restaurant is a breath of fresh air. Not only is the food delicious and cooked with skill but the wait staff truly cares about what they are serving. The manager/bartender creates inspired cocktails and understands how to blend the perfect elements together just like their chef. It is a bit more expensive but it's worth it to have your food prepared by people with such skill and passion. read more

I chose Cafe Duo largely because of the good Yelp reviews. I hope that my review will keep someone from making the same mistake. I made a reservation for graduation 6 months in advance, securing it with my credit card. Our party of 15 arrived on time. We were not greeted in any manner by anyone. I finally went up to the bartender and asked who I needed to see about my reservation. After a wait, he pointed to a table by the window and told us to "sit there". The table had seats for 10. I had to return to the bartender and remind him that our reservation was for 15, not ten. He pointed to a 4-top several feet away and said we had those two tables. We ended up moving the tables together so that we could all sit together. Again, no wait staff in sight to assist. We waited 10 mins for water. Another 10 for menus. We finally asked if we could order drinks. I could go on and on about how HORRIBLE and disinterested the wait staff was. Don't take large party reservations if you cannot and will not provide at least adequate service!! read more

One of the 3 best restaurants in Greenville. Locally owned, classy, fantastic fish and beef, wonderful sauces (I'm guessing the chef had French training). Totally amazing green beans and mashed potatoes. I have no idea how they can make those taste so good. Best Caesar salad too. They have homemade pasta sometimes and it's great. Beef bourguignon is amazing. Brunch is OK, but dinner is great. It's a small place and sometimes the staff is busy, but it's worth it.! read more

Cafe Duo is nothing less than exceptional....food, service, venue and ambiance! I have been a frequenter of Cafe Duo since discovering them at their original location in Greenville/Winterville. It is by far my favorite restaurant in ENC! Their new location at the old Villagio's in Chocowinity is a wonderful addition to restaurants in the Washington, NC area (less than 5 miles away from historic downtown Washington) and will greatly contribute to making Washington a fine dining destination as well as a delightful, quaint, artistic, cultural, historical place to visit. So, go to Washington and enjoy the many varied family entertainment options available (waterfront, history, Turnage Theater, NC Estararium, Festival Park, IBX Artisan Center, music venues, a variety of festivals, etc.) and enjoy a fine casual dining experience at Cafe Duo! What a delightful surprise to find this gem of a restaurant that caters to carnivores as well as Vegetarians, Vegans, and those wishing for Gluten Free items. (Such items are clearly marked on the menu, and the chef let me know that he can make other Vegan dishes as well, something I can't wait to take him up on!) As a family with a Vegan, Vegetarian, and Carnivore, eating out can sometimes be a bit of a challenge, but not here! Every item we ordered was cooked to perfection, and was a feast for our eyes as well as our palets. We began our dinner with Duo Bruschetta (V) and where the blending of flavors and fresh ingredients were the perfect start to our meal! My husband had the tilapia special (and enjoyed every morsel), my daughter savored the Butternut Squash Tortellacci, which was cooked to perfection, while I (who am Vegan) was stunned by the delightful flavors found in the combination of the fresh ingredients (minus the cheese, of course) in the Bistro salad. The evening ended with a perfect cup of coffee (hard to find!), and according to my husband and daughter, an amazing chocolate souffle cake with the perfect compliment of vanilla ice cream! I was disspointed when I was unimpressed with my cafe duo experience. We arrived 45 minutes into brunch service and were seated immediately, great, we thought. We ordered and were informed they were already out of the daily pastry so we went for the bruschetta instead. I was suprised when the dish came out with only 3 half pieces of bread with actual bruschetta topping and 2 half pieces with roasted red pepper slivers only. Regardless, it was average as far as brushetta goes. Our actual meals, the mediterranean frittata, western omelet and eggs benedict again, were average with conservative portions. We were not once offered refills on our beverages during our service and once finished, only when a different waiter came to take our plates, did we have the chance to ask for more coffee at which point we were informed they were out of coffee but could brew more. Having already finished our meal, we declined and waited an additional 10 minutes for our actual waitress to ask if we needed anything else. We took the check and proceeded to wait again for her to pick up the check. We are unsure at this time if we will give Cafe Duo a second chance. Perhaps brunch just isn't their highlight. read more
