What a small but quaint breakfast spot in the St Johns county. We came in around 10:30 am and as patrons were leaving, and empty table was ours for the taking. We had our grand with us which was a treat. He ordered simple eggs and bacon. Wifey had alittle bit of this and a little bit of that. I had the number 5 including corn beef hash, french fries, scrambled eggs and rye toast! The back of the shirt said, "A place where everyone knows your name". I wanted to shout to the roof top, " I m Jerry!, and this is my wife Ramona and our grandson Nolan. We got the check and was off to the races. The owner was engaged in deep conversation so there was bo thank for coming needed. We will be back! Sorry IHOP and Dennys, Cafe Genovese has hit a bullseye withe Henriquez clan!

Wanna feel like you're back home in the NY come here. This is a real old fashioned breakfast place with the friendliest staff. The walls are adorned with Yankee, Giants and first responder pictures . Whenever we walk in we get treated like old friends. You want hash ? You want fried eggs? You can get it here & even more. They serve a great breakfast but also salads & lunch. This is a no frills get it like you want it place. They have a busy counter where the owner cook interacts with local folks about all that's going on in this busy & growing area. Great hot coffee with free refills too. Welcome home!

While traveling through the area, my wife and I stumbled across this little gem. The worst thing I can say is they are hidden in a small, out of the way little plaza. They should be in a much more prominent location so more people can discover this gem. Food was great, prices were good and staff was helpful and friendly.

We just stopped in around 11 on a Saturday. The place was completely full, so we had to eat at the counter as those were the only two open seats. Most of the diners were having breakfast, and everything looked good with large portions. We opted for lunch instead and had the phillychicken cheese steak and a burger. Both sandwiches were good. They were accompanied by onion rings, which were average. If we come back in the future, we will probably try the breakfast options

We've been wanting to try Cafe Genovese but unfortunately they are closed on Sundays! Finally we were able to visit then on a Friday lunch! One thing I noticed when we came in was that there was no sign outside to wear a mask. And true enough, nobody from the staff was wearing one. I think we were the only ones lol. I don't know about the other customers though since they were already eating. Now for the food! We ordered Grilled Chicken Philly with salad for the side and Bacon Cheeseburger with Onion Rings. Both meals were delicious! We especially loved the onion rings! It was crispy and not greasy, very good! There were more people coming in and seems to be regulars. Some of them wearing masks. Overall, we definitely enjoyed our food and we will still come back, but maybe after covid.

i must have passed by this industrial strip a million times on my way from Nocatee to 210/I95, and i never knew that there was an eatery in what looks like an industrial, car mechanic strip. This is truly a family owned vibe place that you would find in the heart of NYC or Chicago. mom is cooking while daughters and cousins wait and bus the tables. you can tell how good the food is by how incredibly packed this place is for breakfast/brunch on a Monday morning. Corned beef hash was cooked to perfection as i asked for it - extra crispy, along with the hash browns. everything was priced perfect at a steal. my only criticism (and the last star) would be for the pancake. ok, i'm a pancake snob, so sue me. i'm used to pancakes being uber fluffy with air - just a different preference comparing to Original Pancake House, or NYC. other than that, i found a new favorite breakfast place in town.

This is an awesome restaurant (Breakfast - Lunch only). Great locals place or if you're passing through located just off I-95 CR 210 East. Mario and Debra Genovese the owners will treat you like family and you'll leave as a friend

This location has the Grumpy's name but does not have the Grumpy's taste and it RUINED my mother-daughter outing. Walking into the restaurant it has that welcome back feeling of being inside in a Grumpy's spot. The decor is modern farmhouse. The lollipop bouquet is the cutest and WARMEST invite into this spot. As all Grumpy's, the menu is full of American classics. My daughter and I had a short-stack. I couldn't resist adding the Roasted Turkey plate. My drink choice was hot chocolate. I knew something was OFF when I received the hot chocolate..."where's the chocolate drizzle? why does it taste like it's water based?" The waiter let me know it's the waiters choice on how it is served. *INSERT EYE ROLL* When the meal came it was easy to see the Turkey plate was MISSING items and looked like it had been sitting (I mean sitting gravy has look of non-movement). The waiter tried to COMFORT me by saying it was under a warm plate but after I questioned where were the cranberries and stuffing...she then responded with an OH! The Kitchen manager offered to bring out a different dish. Now for the pancake, at FIRST BITE my daughter says "I taste the batter" *insert the disappointed DEEP SIGH* The owner asked if he could remake our meals. Truthfully, this was the THIRD complaint so it was a big NO THANK YOU! He then offered to comp the hot chocolate and one of the meals. I boxed the turkey dinner just to get home and it to have the taste of excessive old oil. :-( smh! Not only did it make for an UNENJOYABLE outing with my daughter. It also made my hype about Grumpy's being the best place for brunch a complete LIE. I give them 1-star for being Grumpy's and 1-star for attempting to RESOLVE. This location needs to get host training, hospitality reenforcement, and a kitchen with care because BAE-BEEEE it's a miss me wit'it For spot the difference in my added pictures Image 1 (before) and Image 2 (after): * Dinner roll added Image 2 * Cranberry sauce added Image 2 * Bread Stuffing side item added Image 2 * Mash Potato on plate Image 1 * Mash Potatoin bowl Image 2 * Plate looks fuller Image 2

The other part of the group also drank their life away, and because of this you always need to go to a diner the next day. It was a pleasant afternoon.. the birds were chirping, the sky was partly cloudy, and the wind felt cool. The group stumbled on Metro Diner which looked very appealing! We were told by a couple nice people that it was only a 15 minute wait which was perfectly fine so we went to Publix and bought a couple things. When we came back we were seated outside with a friendly waiter who got us going right away. The ogre kept saying how she wanted fried chicken and waffles, but then got nervous because it was 2000 calories.. like what? "You're on vacation just get the chicken and waffles." She was already overweight anyways so why not add more fuel to the fire. Anyways onto what we got! Me: egg scramble bowl with avocado and bacon. And oatmeal with fruit My good Buddy Bezos: burger bowl Doctor Bs wife: avocado egg sandwich thing Tragic: your classic eggs, toast, sausage, homefried The heaviest girl ever: Belgian waffle and some fruit? Okay pause.. how do you go from I WANT CHICKEN AND WAFFLES to mmm I'll have a waffle and some fruit! Okay anyways onto the reviews of the food itself! Doctor Bs wife: Really good Tragic: Mid Ogre: My eggs tasted like the were sitting out a while, the waffle wasn't hot but still good and I wish it was warmer and the butter was hard and cold My good buddy bezos: actually he was in the shower so I didn't get his review, but I know he liked it, that burger bowl actually looked good. Me: Yeah I mean I am a sucker for scrambled bowl with hollandaise sauce, I definitely have had way better, but the taste was there. I would like to add that I basically finished my entire meal before tragic or the wife got theirs. It will be shown in the photos below. I tried to be polite and wait, but after 5 minutes without their food showing up I had to eat I was starving. It's kind of crazy to me that me ogre and my good buddy bezos were first. I would think that the classic plate of tragics would be easy, as well as the sandwich because it's just the same stuff in my bowl just between bread somewhat. I enjoyed the ambiance and the feel of the place for sure. The music that was playing was also enjoyable, so initially I was at a three but because of those factors along with the fact that I did somewhat like my food more than the others (which is rare) and don't feel terrible after that's why we stand at a four. I would like to clarify every place has its own rating system. Like you cannot compare a fancy restaurant to a diner although they are still deemed a 4 on my page. Sorry anyways, the prices were also really reasonable and we had a good time. Maybe next year when we are back around here we will come back! It was good!

Thinking it was a hidden gem because we had never heard of it, we gave it a try. Sadly, it wasn't all we expected it to be. Once we found it hidden in the back of a small shopping center in World Golf Village, we went inside to an empty restaurant at what should've been a bustling lunchtime crowd. The restaurant had all of two employees working. The cashier/waitress asked us to seat ourselves and she brought us the menus. 5, yes FIVE, different things that we attempted to order were out of stock! How do you run a restaurant when 5 staple items are out of stock.... Hamburger patties, bacon, onion rings, and all fountain drinks including coke & dr. Pepper???? It quickly became obvious why the entire restaurant was empty! After we made alternative choices from the menu and received our meals, the waitress spent the entire time we were in her presence talking in the phone and to someone who seemed to be a regular patron that had come in after us to pick up a to-go order. I heard her say that 'today is my last day because I'm moving.' After hearing that, it made sense as to why she never came back to our table to see if we needed anything. We even had to request she bring our check so that we could pay the bill and leave. She was 'too busy' to notice we were finished & waiting.... The food that we got wasn't horrible.... Too bad the service wasn't that great. We most certainly did NOT receive a good first impression and likely won't give it a second try!
