Cappuccinos were ok (LaColumbe beans), but the pastries really killed it for us. I got the triple cheese borek which was tossed after one bite- actually two bites as I had my wife try it as well. My wife got the chocolate chip muffin, which was a bit dry and flavorless. Maybe it was just an off day but my experience did not line up with others I've read here. read more

The interior is very cute with all sorts of seating arrangements and plants everywhere. Very aesthetic and the baristas are lovely. But my iced matcha latte legitimately tasted like water. Not even like milk or something grassy, just straight up water. I didn't even finish it because normal water tastes better than whatever that was. Complete waste of money. Don't get the matcha if you come here. read more

I have seen pictures of Cafe Georgetown all over Instagram and it did not disappoint when I visited in person! I got the dream latte (a latte with blue powder and designs, I can't remember exactly what the blue is) and was asked for a type of syrup that I wanted in it and I chose hazelnut. It was delicious! I also had a Parisian pastry and it was very tasty also. One of the owners was working while I was there and she was so sweet. She was very patient and helpful when I asked if she could take a couple pictures of me (don't worry it wasn't busy at the time!). The cafe itself is super cute and gorgeously decorated. The natural light in the back is gorgeous in the day time. I can't wait to go back for wine in the evening! read more

This place is so cute! While the drinks are quite pricey for the size they are really tasty and very instagrammable. The menu includes an array of regular and seasonal items. My husband and I decided to go on the seasonal side and try the apple crisp and pumpkin spice lattes. We each liked our lattes and they had some cute latte art! read more

Stopped by for a quick snack and coffee while I was out in Georgetown this week. The store was cute and quaint, tucked away on the edge of downtown. Up a short flight of stairs, you are transported into a super aesthetic oasis. Lots of cute decor, with modern and classic design mixed together. This European style cafe has a large list of coffees, teas, and different drinks, as well as an array of pastries. I grabbed a chai latte and a banana Nutella strudel. There were some small tables outside on the sidewalk where I could enjoy my snack under some shade. Definitely will be back! read more

The decor and ambiance was really cute however the drinks were terrible. We ordered three different types of drinks - special daydream latte, chai latte, and matcha latte with 2 shots of espresso. The proportion between milk and espresso was way off. All the drinks we ordered just tastes like milk. Honestly my nespresso pods taste better than the lattes here. read more

This is a nice little quaint coffee shop in Georgetown. It has nice aesthetics inside and it is very instagrammable! I ordered a cappuccino and my boyfriend ordered the daydream latte. The cappuccino is strong and delicious. The daydream latte is one of their specials and it is flavored with blue flowers herbal tea. The latte smelled good and it tasted good as well. They have a bar area that is in a very bright room and it has nice aesthetics as well. Lastly, the bathroom is nice and clean also. Overall, I recommend this nice little coffee shop to everybody to check out if you are in Georgetown. read more

Went a few weeks ago when I was just walking around Georgetown. Arrived around 2pm and the cafe was relatively packed. The cafe is very quaint, but the owners definitely make great use of the space. The interior is decorated nicely and the rose latte was one of my favorite lattes to date. The baristas go the extra mile to make each individual latte unique (it started raining the day we went and one of the baristas even drew a cute rain cloud on one of our lattes!). The bathroom is in the middle of the cafe, next to the barista station. It was clean and well stocked. The only issue was you can hear everything going on outside from inside the bathroom (but I don't think they can hear you...). The back of the cafe has a nice skylight and additional seating. Unfortunately most of the spots were reserved when we went, but would definitely try to get a seat there next time. The almond croissant was a nice snack to go along with my drink. Very Very happy this place opened in Georgetown! I came in on the Sunday after the opening and the ambience was so pretty. Perfect lighting and colors in the design. all of the staff was very welcoming, I tried a a few different drinks and pastries and everything was amazing. I have always liked la Colombe coffee and it was interesting to see that they offer different types of vegan/dairy free milks. even the dairy milk was quality milk unlike the ones they serve at larger coffee places. I can definitely say that you go for the experience and the quality of drinks and food. They also serve coffee with Stroopwafel, a traditional dutch wafer cookie with caramel filling that is meant to be placed on top of a hot cup of coffee. Amazing, its the first coffee place I see in the area that serve these. They also have a variety of wines that are served in the back room which is a very pretty room with glass roof so plenty of light coming in. Definitely recommend!!! read more

This place lives up to the hype! Went here yesterday, mid-day. It was a little busy but was able to find a place. As the other reviews mentioned, this place is a wine bar in the back and cafe in the front. The cafe has a few nooks that are cute to sit in. I sat in one corner which was really nice and peaceful. Such a unique latte experience! I also tried the bolek cheese bread. I loved it but my husband thought it was just okay. It was a little cold and needed to be warmed longer. My husband wished it was more "cheese danish" like but still appreciated the Turkish cheese. The latte was yummy, not a flavor I would get that often but good to try. Just tastes like a cherry latte, not too sweet which I liked. My friend tried the turnovers: Nutella & banana, spinach & leek, raspberry and cream cheese (all gf). Her favorite was the spinach & leek, and she loved the gf dough. read more

I came here due to all of the hype they had with their aesthetic drinks. The location itself is really small and cramped. Finding a seat is hard even during non-peak times. If you're looking for a place to work or study or even hang out with friends, this isn't it. I'm pretty sure they even have a sign that doesn't permit people bringing in computers. I got a bit claustrophobic just standing in line and waiting for my order. I ordered a latte and a croissant and that came out to be around $15, which is really overpriced. I was expecting at least some quality taste to my latte but it just straight up tasted like milk. The order also took quite a bit to get and it was a weekday afternoon. Overall, this place is overhyped and I don't think I will be returning. read more

I came across this cafe while walking up Wisconsin Avenue - there was a sign advertising this tucked away shop. (It's tucked away on a street off of Wisconsin Ave.) The sign highlighted its European feel. I entered the cafe that is located in a typical Georgetown walkup brownstone and opened the door to a light, airy and chic cafe. It is very intimate, with a few tables in the front and a few high tables in the back of a well lit room that has a small bar for spirits. The cashier was very nice as I tried to make up my mind. I wanted to try a seasonal drink that they no longer serve, but the barista was so nice that he customized my drink to get me what I wanted - a great espresso, with instagram worthy artwork! I ended up getting a dry cappuccino and wasn't disappointed. The cappuccino was smooth and tasteful (note: it could've been a little stronger, but still it was one of the best cappuccinos I have had in DC). The ambience was relaxing and nice as I sipped my cappuccino. However, I wouldn't recommend this cafe as a place to do work (laptops aren't permitted). It is truly a cafe to go to catch up with a friend over a espresso and pastry or to relax, read a few pages of a book and sip on your drink. read more

Over-rated cafe for the latte art using the machine to generate pictures atop milk foam. Due to high demand for the hype, cafe gets busy and quality in drinks and service downgrades. Milk steamers are not cleaned or refreshed per drink. Drinks were rushed and quickly made. Due to technical error, orders were backlogged or not placed. Many customers were left confused and waiting for 20+ minutes for drinks. However, staff was kind to address these customers by compensating them with a bakery item for their time. Staff announced they were out of items to make drinks halfway through. Baked goods and pastries were decent. We got a chocolate croissant and Turkish brioche bun. Not remarkably unique. Customers requested for refill of the water jug on the counter, however that was never fulfilled. We ended up requesting a refund for the lattes on over a 30 minute wait :( read more

Cute coffee shop (micro bar in back - love secret, intimate places). Blue & white whicker chairs, batlawa and other nibbles are clues to the Turkish influence. Sidewalk cafe is great, could do without the obnoxious drivers honking. Had a latter, highly recommended. I didn't slow down enough to see if they have authentic Turkish coffee. LOVE Cafe Georgetown! They have the best lattes I've tried in DC, and the cute latte art is a bonus. Plus, for those with gluten allergies, they have a variety of gluten free pastries. Cute new addition to the neighborhood, with a unique twist. Cafe Georgetown is really nicely decorated, with deep royal blue walls and gold accents. It feels upscale, yet welcoming. The back wine bar area is located in a back room with skylights. Throughout the cafe, they've added nice touches of color in tile and even on the ceiling above the register. The space is pretty small, but that just is what it is. Unlike many coffee shops that serve Illy, Cafe Georgetown chose to serve La Colombe, which I like. My cappuccino was well made, and served with a small almond cookie. Nice touch. My chocolate croissant was fresh, flaky, and buttery. I don't think they make them on site, but whoever bakes them appears to know what they are doing. I chatted w the owner for a bit and she seemed genuine and nice. The barista who made my cappuccino greeted me when I walked in, was sweet while I was there, and made sure to say goodbye as I walked out. I'm really looking forward to watching this place get its feet under it and get rolling. Great addition to the neighborhood. read more

Lovely little cafe in a Georgetown run by two sisters from Turkey. They are very friendly and accommodating and will make what you want if they're able. My daughter wanted chocolate milk, which is not on the menu but they were more than willing to make it. We had a couple of chocolate croissants, an almond croissant, and a slice of their chocolate cake which just looked too good to pass up. Also, had hot chocolate and OJ. The place is very cozy with tables up front encouraged to be non laptop. Very refreshing. read more

Went in for a to go order and while the coffee and cake tasted good, the barista taking my order was really rude. As soon as I started giving my order I asked the barista taking my order to swap a latte I ordered with a matcha latte and got a weird response from the barista- felt weird but I laughed and ignored it and continued to place my order in. I ordered a variety of items and wanted to make sure I got everything in so I asked the barista if he could repeat my order to which he was super weird and told me a completely different order, to which I repeated the correct order and he responded in a very rude way suggesting he had my order in correct the first time followed by eye gestures/rolls that made me feel very uncomfortable. I wanted to add additional items to my order but felt so uncomfortable that I paused and just paid for what was in already and just wanted to leave. The girl barista who was making my order was super nice though and it almost felt like she noticed her coworker's attitude and was trying to cover him up. I don't think I'm going in again. Established in 2018.

Founder Emel Bayrak, the first female Turkish White House correspondent, creates a setting where everyone is welcome, from local neighbors to journalists, politicians, and Georgetown professionals.

Meet the Business Owner: Emel B.

Emel arrived in the United States from her native country, Turkey, in 2004 as a single mother with two daughters and a goal of finishing her MBA. Upon graduation, her determination and passion for politics quickly landed her a job as a journalist in Washington. Emel appeared in newspapers and on television and radio, eventually leveraging her political experience and bi-lingual skills to become the first female White House correspondent for Turkey in 2009. As a member of the White House Correspondent Emel travelled with the press corps covering the presidential oval office meetings and presidential trips all over the world. Every ten years, Emel begins a new adventure, and, after establishing herself as a correspondent, she sought her next chapter. When she questioned what would bring her joy, the answer became clear – create a café where people could mix and mingle in a beautiful environment over coffee, spirits and light bites. Emel opened Café Georgetown in 2018 in Georgetown.
