We dined on a busy Saturday just before noon and were able to secure a table after the breakfast rush and before the lunch crowd. The menu was very complete typical French with breakfast items, quiches, sandwiches, salads and more. The soup of the day was cream of mushroom and it was the best I've ever had anywhere! We had fresh baguette sandwiches that were served with a small side salad with just right amount of vinaigrette dressing. Service was prompt and friendly. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals! I had a lovely spinach, mushroom and goat cheese crepe and glass of rose outside this afternoon. The crepe tasted good, a tad thicker than I prefer, and the greens had the traditional delicious vinaigrette dressing. What made this spot a standout was the fantastic service from an affable gentleman. He was so charming I assumed he was the owner. It was nice to have finally tried Cafe Gourmand today which is a French eatery located at the crossroads of US41 and Pelican Marsh Blvd. There is plenty of parking and seating inside and out. There is Daily Quiche Specials in addition to their traditional Quiche Lorraine. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner but is closed from 2pm-5pm. Please also note, they only serve dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For lunch they're serving up some delicious and savory crepes to sandwiches on baguettes to salads to quiche. At dinner their menu is really spicing things up with traditional French cuisines and my server told me that the Foie Gras, Escargot and French Onion Soup are to die for and raved about by the locals. My server, Kim was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and offered great suggestions. She also frequented often to ensure I was having a great experience. I decided on a Crepe stuffed with ham and Swiss with a sunny side up egg. The Crepe was light and crisp in texture while the ham, egg and Swiss blended perfectly without the need to add any salt or pepper. This was served with a side of spring mix salad with some sort of balsamic dressing. I was super pleased with the entire experience and the place is clean and organized inside. What a great spot for breakfast in North Naples. The staff is fantastic! They provide very friendly service and everything comes out of the kitchen amazingly fast. But the best part is the food and coffee. They have re-created French bistro-like coffee flavor - strong but smooth. Great cappuccinos and lattes. The crapes and fresh baked croissants are their specialty. The croissants are crunchy on the outside and delicate and flaky on the inside and basically melt in your mouth. Great spot in Naples Park. Get the Croque Bacon or croissant with spinach egg and Swiss, French toast was amazing as was the crepes. One side note, you can get a side of fruit with certain orders. It's a small cup with lots of berries, orange, and little melon. This was a nice touch because I am not a fan of ordering fruit and it comes with all melon and like one blueberry. Visiting from out of town. Came across this place on Yelp and wanted to check it out because we love crepes and French food in general. We went for breakfast on a Sunday around 10:30 AM. It was busy, but there was no wait for a table. Service seemed a little harried but was quick and polite. We noticed the hostess (suspect she is also the owner?) was French-speaking, as were some of the staff. One other customer at the table right next to us was annoyed with a server for double-checking her order with her and started to lay into her, but the server handled the rude comments graciously. It sounded to me like the server was only trying to do her job well. The menu was relatively small and simple compared to some other breakfast/brunch places; you get the impression they do a few things but do them well. I had a stuffed croissant and split the strawberry-Nutella crepe with my partner. The croissants were legit, and I loved the stuffed croissant/sandwich. It came with a cup of chopped fresh fruit (not one of those frozen or refrigerated pre-mixed fruit cups). The crepe was a bit crispier than I prefer, had a slightly burnt taste, and didn't have much filling, so I knocked them one star for a less-than-stellar crepe, which was the main reason I went to this place to begin with. I would go again for the croissants but probably would not get a crepe again. Prices were reasonable. Overall a decent place to get a quick French breakfast. A party of 23 during season is no easy task. We where seated together tucked away in a cozy section and allowed to just enjoy each other's company and the awesome genuine french foods. Here the first time for lunch. The place is extremely neat and clean. You're welcome as you enter and that was a nice touch. We ordered the 2 egg omelette with Swiss Cheese and comes with an optional small side salad on the plate because we asked for no toast. Each additional add on (Mushroom and Bacon) were $1 apiece. That was OK for $9.50 (?)I ordered under SAVORY CREPES, THE "Complete" which is really the Croque-Madame on a crepe rather than toast and a very small side salad on the plate. Very fresh, but what I didn't like, it was just two slices of ham, melted cheese and an egg for $10.50!? I thought that was pricey for what it was. I was hoping it would be better. With the Croque- Madame on a sandwich or a crepe there was no "bechamel" sauce that you would normally get in a French bistro. And I was surprised see no soup of any kind. Was looking forward to a French Onion soup. Oh well. The decaf coffee was made fresh and it was an Italian blend she said that was not bitter and that was good. You get a refill on that. And I just noticed a $3 split charge on entrees if wanted (Not fair) and my last complaint was the bottle of soda was 20 ounces and I left with it in a 16 oz. to go cup. Wasn't given the bottle. May seem that I'm nitpicking, but these are just some of the annoyances you feel when you expect it to be as some other places, that's all. We don't eat sweets for now so maybe the desserts are worth the trip. But there's a lot out there that gives me what I expected for a nice lunch. Not memorable. This is a once visit. Was hoping it would be special. But there are some others like this restaurant that have the taste and right portion for the same price. When you have the Croque-Madame sandwich at The French Restaurant on 5th ave, you are spoiled! So that was my disappointment here. read more
