I came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning looking for an early breakfast as it opens at 7 am which is earlier than most other Galveston restaurants. This diner is in its own building near the cruise ship terminals and has plenty of parking in front. I ordered a short stack of blueberry pancakes for $10. They arrived less than 10 minutes later. 3 large pancakes with blueberries in them with a blueberry topping and whipped cream on top. Yum, Yum, Yum. I enjoyed this breakfast. Delicious spot for breakfast! I had not been in here in a long time, but we went down to Galveston for Mardi Gras. It was a busy weekend on the island, but we were able to get seated immediately and the service was fast. I heard they had very good Migas a la Mexicana, so I had to try it. It didn't come with meat, so I added an order of crispy bacon on the side. The corn tortillas were perfect crisp, and it was served with 3 small fresh tortillas. Probably one of the best options on the island without a wait. I can walk in almost any time and get a great meal. The prices aren't what I would expect. They are a little high for what you get but willing to pay to not wait to sit for 40 minutes. Good quick service and always exactly what you want. read more

You guys know what an IHOP or a Denny's is like, right? This is WAAAAAY better. Everything you expect on a diner menu prepared just about perfectly. Eggs, pancakes, French toast, chicken fried steak, BLT sandwiches with crisp fries. All perfect. Coffee OK. Plenty of parking, reasonable prices, squeaky clean, and excellent (very quick) service. Locally owned, which means your dining dollar goes further, and stays on the island to circulate through the local economy. read more

After having lab work at UTMB, and having to fast until 11:30, I pulled into this gem of a diner. I had a breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits and coffee. I have driven by this restaurant hundreds of times over the past decade visiting here and never stopped in. Never that is, until I checked out Yelp and since the rating was 4 1/2 stars, it was time to try it. It was great! It wouldn't seem like hash browns would be that difficult to make, but lots of breakfast joints just can't get the hang of it. The hash browns here were perfect - brown and crispy around the edges and easy to flip and make sure they have browned on both sides. Our service was fast and efficient. We even asked for to-go cups for our water and they were delivered fast. The menu is extensive so everyone should be able to find exactly what they want. read more

First visit to this restaurant. Food was no frills but very good. Both of us had eggs with hash browns and biscuits. Side of biscuit gravy which was very yummy! Tried bacon on one and sausages on the other. Bacon was great - baked so it was crisp without being burned. The biscuits were warm and very tasty. Could have been generous with butter or honey but not. Prices were reasonable. Review would have been 5 stars for the food but the restaurant needs a good heavy duty cleaning. It's right next to the UT Medical campus so thought it would have a more cleanly aesthetic. Bathroom was disgusting. Blue toilet cleaner was not only in the toilet but on floors and walls too. Carpet in the dining room had big stains. Needs a heavy duty scrub. read more

This was a Yelp find and it was decent. Good reviews got us there. It's on the opposite side of the island from where we were staying, but we decided to make the drive. It's next to a hospital. I only mention that because everyone in our family agreed it was kind of bland. So I thought maybe because so many people eat there and are used to bland hospital food so this is amazing compared to that. For us, it was way too bland. Not bad. Added salt and pepper and hot sauce to pick up the flavor, but I wouldn't go back. See my other reviews for much more flavor in your breakfast while on the island. Friendly service. Coffee was good. We dropped into America's Kitchen largely based on the reviews on Yelp. We had strawberry pancakes, an omelet, and a breakfast burrito. The place seems like it could use a little love, and the service was just OK - not bad, but nothing to write home about. The food was good overall, but the strawberry pancakes said they included whipped cream and they did not. Instead, they were smothered in powdered sugar... kind of unfixable at that point. This is my second time to do breakfast here since June last year. Nothing has changed. The food is being prepared by someone who cares. I had a breakfast meal while my wife chose to have a burger and fries at 0930 in the morning. We observed another table being served a chicken fried steak. The husband and wife duo work hand in hand to keep the place clean and tables flipped for the continuous customers coming and going. Our pancakes and bacon were yummy. I really liked my blueberry pancakes. The little one ate all of his chicken strips and fries. He's a connoisseur and really enjoyed them. Went here on Easter morning after every other cafe had lines out the door. Parking was more than sufficient and we were seated right away! Our waitress was an absolute angel and we got our food in 5 minutes! Waffles were amazing! They were like Belgian waffles-very dense and full of flavor. Good service, Geraldo was kind, courteous, efficient, and provided nice recommendations based on our ask. Hearing his growth from greeter to busser to bartender and server is such a great story, and one that shows a restaurant that cares about their people. The food however is a 2-Star at best! Expectations at this level are extremely high, and crunchy undercooked rice, seared tuna with no sear, and a burger without a toasted bun for my son... just doesn't cut it. They fixed the burger with adding a bit of cheese, but didn't replace the rice on my BLACKENED YELLOWFIN TUNA, unsure if the concern was escalated properly, as we were in a later seating. This place is basically a good deep fryer place, as the only people who truly loved their meals were my wife with the FAMOUS FRIED PLATTER and my younger son with the kids chicken nuggets... Even my meal where the fried potato wedges were the highlight and not the fish. To their credit, the portions are very good, and the TWO CHOCOLATE MOUSSE was divine.... I think the kids polished the glass to a radiant shine! It's unfortunate, as this had all the makings of an epic family night out... only to become a bit of a downer.

service is fine and the staff is great…read more my friends and i got the fried pickles (salty), the wings (dry with weird texture), coconut shrimp (barely touched it), and the island burger (salty, but the fries are good). we were very disappointed that we spent $90 only for our food to be mediocre. we expected a lot more from the spot because of how it is highly recommended on google maps and on yelp, but we left everything unfinished. we saw empty tables with unfinished food as well. there was a sign that said not to feed the birds, but the birds were feeding themselves with how we saw a huge flock at one of the tables. someone said that this restaurant is more like a bar with food, and i couldn't agree more. the frozen margaritas are the only redeeming factor to our visit, but we will not be back.

There are flat screens all around and a stage for live music indoors. They do have a mixed drink menu, however, there are no prices on it (average $12) and you'll have to scan a QR code for their food menu. On fair weather days they'll have the garage doors at both ends open to allow the breeze to flow through instead of air-conditioning. The only problem with that is that when the food arrives, so do the flies. They have a full bar with available seating and upbeat music playing overhead. They actually have a woodfired pizza oven (so I was told, might be gas fired tho) in the back corner which helped me with my choice of meal. The wife had scallops which came out perfectly cooked and tender. My pepperoni/mushroom pizza was good and something I would order again. Since we got here on a Saturday, there's no happy hour, but their mixed drinks were good, although the alcohol was barely discernible. When it's time to check out on the handheld device, you will be charged a 3% credit card fee on your bill. We had great service and a good time.
