Cafe India has quickly become my new favorite Indian place in Milwaukee. Very friendly service, both on the phone and in person. My go-to is the Chicken saag. I want to branch out and try more of the menu but I can never pass up a chance to eat this dish, it's so good. Do yourself a favor and order it. Two things I've tried but didn't love were the chicken tikka masala and the kheer. Tikka masala was oddly sweet, but not horrible. Kheer didn't have much flavor, but I poured the rose syrup from the gulab jamun (order this too) into it and it was infinitely better for it. Aloo Gobhi has great flavor, a bit more spicy than expected, but I didn't mind, my sinuses definitely cleared out! read more

We got the Chicken Tikka Masala (yum!), butter chicken (delicious!), and chicken biryani (good but beware it's got a serious kick to it!!). We also ordered samosas and naan, equally as good! Cafe India hands down is my favorite Indian cuisine in Milwaukee. I've tried a number of places over the past two years and haven't really found a locale that I like more. Both locations are great, but if you're looking for a slightly more formal "sit down" environment, the Bay View location is likely where you want to go. The family who runs the business is quite nice and they always make fresh, hot food packed with excellent flavor. I know that chicken tikka masala is a favorite of many people and needless to say, it's the best around. Their butter chicken is also exceptional. If you are vegetarian, they have a good curry selection available with tons of great options. Outside of curries, the tandoori dishes are delicious and often tempt me to do something other than curry. Cafe India is my local place for picking up take out Indian food. They've been so successful that they have moved into a larger space in Walkers Point Plaza, as well as open a location in Bay View, which I still haven't been to. Cafe India is my very first samosa chat! I've had Indian many times at many places and haven heard of this before. It's SO awesome and can be a meal in itself. It's basically a samosa covered with sauces and chickpeas. Try it if you haven't before! There's some misses here and there with the timing or food prep (I once had inedible material in my food & delivery incredibly late) but I suppose that can happen. The knife work is less impressive, as well, with random bone pieces and skin/fat in the chicken which doesn't happen often at other Indian places I've eaten. I also wish they had better to-go containers, but anyway, there are several reasons for my four star rationale (could be grounds for thee star, even) as there's room for some fine detail improvements. I had the Chicken Korma and it was delicious! I asked for a little spicy and I got it :). I found the atmosphere clean and comfortable, no frills, and the service was very friendly and casual. Pretty amazing place. The food is excellent. There are specials for if you get there before five that include a couple entrees, naan, your choice of beverage (not just soda), chickpeas and dessert. After a bit of a disastrous delivery experience--I finally got to try Cafe India's eats. You know those places that are all flash and no substance? The ones with gorgeous, expansive interiors that do little more than function to hopefully distract one from mediocre fare they're plating on a regular basis? Cafe India is the opposite of such a place. Located in a gas station strip mall (yes, really), Cafe India slings some seriously delish Indian eats in a completely unassuming atmosphere. I got the chicken tikka masala with a side of rice and naan. The chicken tikka was spot on and the naan was the perfect light flavor and soft texture. I will note that my dining companion got a lamb dish that he ordered "spicy," which he reported as having no spicy heat at all. So, if you're looking for characteristic spicy Indian food, you may have to emphasize that fact because merely ordering it "spicy" didn't seem to do the trick. Beyond that, their prices are reasonable and the service was a-ok. The dining area is a bit ho-hum. But, definitely a great spot for takeout or a super casual (like almost fast-food like casual) dine in experience. Get to it! read more

Wow, just wow...I am so happy that I turned the corner into this gas station parking lot. As others have all mentioned it's not much to look at. There is a decent-sized dining area, and as it's mostly a to-go place it seems that there is always room. I ordered the Butter Chicken with naan and a coconut ball dessert. I upped it to two orders of naan, but there is a TON in one order so it was entirely unnecessary. The meal came with a side of rice included and a plastic container of the butter chicken - it was stuffed to the brim. The sauce was seriously divine - buttery, savory, a twang of spice and the white meat chicken chunks had no gross parts. I have to admit I was a little skeptical on how good the food was going to be because it is located in a gas station strip mall (shame on me for being a gas station food snob). This was hands down the best Indian food I have had since moving to Milwaukee. We ordered the chicken tikka marsala, rice and naan. The chicken was so fresh, the sauce perfectly seasoned and the naan was very flavorful. Not only was it delicious but there was a lot of food! Hubby and I actually could have spilt an order instead of getting two. Love that it is close by and has plenty of parking! We didn't eat inside and ordered it to go but they have tables if you want to eat in. The manager said they have a all you can eat buffet lunch for 9.00, we will definitely be going back to try it. read more

Best Indian food in Milwaukee! They have the most authentic tasting (and uber delicious) Indian food with lot of variety. Their butter chicken and chicken tikka masala is to die for. I also love their Tandoori Fish which is available on occasions but the spice blend is to die for. They do make lovely Chicken Biriyani as well and you will come back for me. This restaurant has expanded over the years and has more of a Cafe style ambience (as the name suggests). They do have a more formal fine dining version of the restaurant in the south side but the food tastes no where as good as this place does. We have tried both! Always a favorite and my top recommendation to anyone who asks me about which has the best Indian food in Milwaukee. read more

This place has the BEST Basmati/Jasmine rice EVER!!! You have to get the chicken tikki masala with rice - don't forget to order with rice or you won't get it. The chicken was also really fatty and chunky, just big chucks of fatty chicken taking up the whole dish, gross. The service was decently friendly. I have lived in Milwaukee for over 15 years and have never had a bad experience at Cafe India Walkers Point. This is the absolute best Indian restaurant in Milwaukee by FAR and I'll tell you why: 1) No other Indian restaurant in Milwaukee compares to the flavor profile that exists within each dish at Cafe India Walkers Point (Yes, I have tried every dish-my favorite being the Chana masala and the chicken tikka masala). The flavors are so zesty, deep in flavor, the perfect mix of spice. Every time I get their food (once every other week) the flavors are ALWAYS consistent. 2) They have the best prices for the amount of food that you get. The other Indian restaurants in Milwaukee give you less food and charge more money (for food that honestly doesn't even come close to Cafe India Walker's Point). 3) They have the best customer service and the manager is the most pleasant guy to work with. Always a smile on his face and easy to chat with. They are so quick and I've never had to wait long for quality, homemade Indian cuisine. Keep it up Cafe India Walker's Point team! Cafe India serves authentic indian flavors (although true Indian food is spicier haha!) It is family owned and all the food is made fresh to order; even the buffet food is made fresh hourly. The lunch buffet has a plethora of options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. For ~$10 you get a huge plate of food that includes many dishes, rice, naan, and a drink, and you will be full for hours. The ambiance is nothing special. It is a simple place with convenient/free parking. If you are new to trying indian food then I recommend going for lunch in order to get the lunch buffet special. Indian never seems to be in my radar. It's like if I'm not out with foods, I forget it exists. Well after my dining experience here, that is no longer the case because I cannot wait to go back! Sadly I don't have any pictures of our food because we devoured it right away. Instead I will do my best to paint you a picture of what we ordered. I struggled with whether or not I wanted a mango lassi to drink because I love them but they are so filling. In the end, my love for mango lassis prevailed, so good! We decided to split all our food going with two orders of naan - one was traditional the other has cheese and garlic. Both were wonderful. Can't remember the name on the menu but we also stared with an appetizer which was mostly deep fried cauliflower and amazing. The paneer masala was so good! We added an order of the jasmine rice. And not that this is helpful but other main dish was vegetarian as well and it was green, kinda resembling spinach. I liked it but for the life of me cannot remember the name. The service was great. Staff were attentive without being annoying. I also loved that at the end of the meal, they placed a box full of candy for us to pick from. Naturally I grabbed multiple pieces since they left it on the table and walked away so u couldn't feel any judgement. Will definitely be back. read more

This is the best Indian food in Milwaukee. Nestled in a gas station between a liquor store and a strip club lies amazing scratch made food. While it can be hard to communicate with some of the employees, you can tell they care and want to make sure you are happy. It would be great if they included some rice with a main dish. My favorite dish is the sag chicken with a side of garlic naan. I will go back often. Call ahead for faster service. read more

I used to be skeptical of this location because its in a gas station. Fear not, for good, fast, and cheap eats can be found here. If I remember correctly, the entrees do not come with rice or naan--you have to order it separately. The prices are so low that it honestly doesn't matter. I've only gotten vegetarian options so I can't speak to the rest of the menu but, I've loved everything I've tried. Definitely order a samosa. Its fairly big and VERY filling. The chana masala is ace and their dal is solid. Bummed that they use styrofoam--hope they change to more eco friendly containers. read more

My first experience at a Indian restaurant was very interesting. I really liked the variety of food and drinks to choose from on the menu. I had the spiciest non vegetarian curry ever. It was the "Vindaloo" which contains, garlic, fish, spicy ginger and hot sauce along with fried rice. Everything was delicious and fulfilled my expectations. They also had hookahs you can try different flavored smokes but I didn't want to try it out. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who likes to try something new and is a big fan of spicy food. I read the good reviews here and have to agree. It's a 5 star (at this price point). Food was hot (temp), delicious, and there was plenty to eat per serving. Things we ordered: Chicken Korma, Chicken Kadahi Masala (spicy but has delicious mango sauce to cut the heat) Naan, and Rasmali for dessert. Street food in the gas station strip mall! Each time I've been here I've gotten the Chicken Kathi Roll - it's a Roti which is dropped onto egg and fried. They then top with generous portion of tandoori chicken, green pepper and onions, all for five bucks. They are made-to-order, you will have to wait 10-15 min for this amazing lunch wrap. I was able to reduce the wait on my last visit by calling ahead! The folks at Cafe India are so friendly. I've come across them numerous times at chili cook-offs and other group events and should really try their other offerings. read more

Went today for the first Time to Café India after reading all the great reviews online and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I ordered the shish kebab does samosas vegetarian and chicken we also got the chicken masala, chicken curry, lamb biryani, roti, naan and gulag jamun. The tikka Masala and biryani were my favorite they leave a taste in your mouth that makes you want more and more. Overall the food is just so well seasoned and cooked. I am definitely recommending to all to try for yourself, you won't regret it read more

Food was OK. Service was lacking. Used Uber Eats for delivery. This is as much a criticism of Uber Eats as it is Cafe India. I've had UE delivery in the past where an item is missing from my order. Usually a beverage that is easy for the driver to nick. This time it was actual food that was missing from our stapled bag but listed on our receipt. Called the restaurant and they said there was nothing they could do, except give me complimentary samosas next time we ordered. Not sure how that will work. So disappointing. read more

Cafe India is wonderful. It is literally located in a gas station parking lot and has the most incredible Indian food in MKE. My go-to at Cafe India is their Chicken Tikka Masala and their Butter Chicken. I think both of these dishes are flavorful, filling and very tasty. I also recommend trying their specialty/stuffed naan. The garlic one is quite tasty but I am sure that any of them would be terrific. I have never personally dined-in at this Cafe India location, but when I get takeout, the service is prompt and friendly. I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes for my order to be ready. I stopped in on Friday to pick up some extra naan (because I had a ton of yummy Tikka Masala sauce left over) and the restaurant was packed for their buffet! Everything in the case looked warm and delicious but I did not stay to enjoy it. If I ever did not have work during the week and could take a long lunch, I would love to stop by here to try the various options as part of the buffet. The portions are large and the prices here are fair (~$10 per entree). You can easily add naan or rice for just a few dollars more. read more
