This was my first time visiting Café Intermezzo in Atlanta, and it was such a wonderful experience. I met up with a few friends there, and I quickly learned about the history of the restaurant and how it has been a part of the Atlanta area since the 1970s. The ambiance was absolutely beautiful and created the perfect setting for catching up and enjoying good conversation. Our waiter was attentive, accommodating, and took great care of our group of five throughout the visit. I ordered the white chocolate hot chocolate, and it was served in a beautiful cup overflowing with marshmallows, making it feel like a special treat. My meal was delicious, and everyone in our group seemed to thoroughly enjoy their food as well. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience, and I can definitely see why this restaurant has remained a favorite for so many years.
Cafe Intermezzo in Midtown has long been one of my favorite spots for desserts to go, but this time my party and I decided to dine in and really enjoy the atmosphere. I ordered one of my personal favorites, the tres leches cake, which is always a solid choice. We were seated in Betty's section, and she was very attentive and quick throughout the evening. We only ordered desserts and water this visit, but the experience was still lovely. There was a slight misunderstanding when the tiramisu cake was brought out instead of the tiramisu cheesecake that was ordered. Betty immediately corrected it with no issue and quickly brought out the cheesecake, which ended up being really delicious. Cafe Intermezzo is such a great spot for catching up with friends, a casual date night, or simply satisfying a dessert craving. Their cheesecakes and cakes are consistently good, and they also make some excellent cocktails, although I skipped drinks this visit. Overall, it is still one of my favorite dessert spots in Midtown.
Food: I only ordered cake here since I heard this place is best known for their cakes and coffee, and not as well liked for their food. I was surprised that they only had cheesecake and not actual cakes. Nonetheless, we got the cannoli cheesecake which I enjoyed. It was a good balance of light and fluffy from the makeshift cannoli cream with the rich and creaminess from the NY-style cheesecake. I will say I was disappointed that they didn't add real cannoli cream, or they make their cannoli cream very different than how it's typically make. Even the half cannoli on top was stuffed with whipped cream and frosting, instead of cannoli cream. Also, they added an orange extract or liquor to the cake which gave it a strange taste. But it was still tasty and the slice is massive - definitely enough for two people. Ambiance: the place is very cute instead. It gives off European-vibes and I really liked the ambiance. Location: they are located in Midtown, a few blocks from Piedmont Park. They validate parking (up to 2 hours) at the Loews hotel garage around the corner. Service: the host and server were very kind and attentive. They constantly checked in on us and refilled our waters.
Not one, not two, but THREE delectable vegan cake options!! I tried the chocolate raspberry mousse and the strawberry cake, and both were absolutely out of this world. They also had a carrot cake, making this hands down the best spot for vegan cake options in Atlanta. Service was impeccable. The hostess and server was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. The ambience was lovely and I would absolutely come back. Update: I seriously struggled with parking. (It took about 20 minutes just to sort out bc parking across the street runs $20, the deck is $10 per 30 minutes, and while street parking is cheaper, it's nearly impossible to find); however, I was later informed (see manager's note below) that parking is free and they'll validate you for up to 2 hours if you park in the deck off of 12th St! So, don't repeat my mistake and get your ticket validated!
An Atlanta connoisseur, my husband made it a point to have us stop here - directly after landing at the airport and before checking into our hotel. From long ago, he has fond memories of the previous location and has raved about it. His nostalgia was bittersweet, as this new location is trying to carry on the vibe, but he feels strongly that it feels less charming and more corporate/transactional, given the area. On this Friday night, around 11 pm, I was impressed to see the cafe full and bustling with guests seated at outdoor tables in addition to a full indoor dining room. There was a short wait for a table for two, during which I admired the cheesecakes and cakes in the dessert case. The hosts were super friendly and welcomed us with charm and smiles, and our server was great. Our table was perfectly in the middle of it all, giving us a great view of all the happenings around us. This cafe is moody and dramatic and certainly exudes what you would picture as a European cafe. Picture marble statue motifs, heavy tapestry, ornate gold details, deep burgundy, and chocolate-brown decorative elements. The menus presented to us were last updated in June 2025, and I would have loved to see a fresh lineup for January. We weren't very hungry but decided to have quick drinks and share the baked Brie, which was a game-changer! The Brie is loaded with honey, pepper, and almonds, served with four toasted baguette slices. Baked Brie is a tried and true appetizer, but this one takes the cake as my favorite at this point -- and I will be trying to recreate it at home! I love that this Cafe is known for a great gathering place even in late hours. What a great option to grab a bite and enjoy conversation until 1 am!
This place is a great option for brunch. Their menu does seem to be limited on what they actually have but the dessert which is a tiramisu was phenomenal. Service is a bit slow, but they do have inside and outdoor seating. Making the ambience into good Day sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air. I definitely recommend this if you're not pressed for time and can sit around for a few hours having mimosas and enjoying the outdoors.
I'm lucky to have this Midtown location near me; in winter you can have a nice view of all the winter lights and buildings around. The food here is always good and I really like the vast variety of drinks. Please don't leave this place without trying their desserts, my favorite will always be the Tiramisu! The staff is always kind and welcoming.
One of my favorite dessert spots of all-time that also serves up an excellent choice of liqueurs. This visit I had just enough time to get a chocolate cake to go. Deliciously rich a triple chocolate cake. Truly decadent and worth every penny! I was also happy that they provide validation for the nearby public parking lot. The place was packed (as usual). It's a great place to hang out, socialize, wind down, or wind up depending on your mood and time.
Girls' night out and we picked the perfect spot! To sum up, we demolished the bruschetta, mussels, and seafood dip (all phenomenal). Then the cucumber martini did EXACTLY what it needed to do. They were definitely felt. Service was on point throughout the night, and I loved the warm, dark brown tones that made everything feel so cozy despite the place still being pretty spacious. I even grabbed a dessert to go because...why not? And it was just as flaky and buttery as I could imagine (even for someone that doesn't like sweets much). I haven't tried their breakfast yet, but believe I'll be back for that. Quick note on parking: there are plenty of garages nearby, so you'll surely find a spot. Just be prepared to pay for it. I think it's worth it though!
Our daughter chose this restaurant for her Uber order on Tuesday, September 30. Since it's midterms week, she wanted something that would be nice and fulfilling and something different. We ordered the smoked salmon, pasta, and spinach artichoke dip. Everything was packaged very well.. and the taste of the food was good also. The order is a little pricey via the Uber app. It may be a little bit cheaper if you order online through their website, but the price of everything was about $35 not including tax and or tip.
Celebrating my son's 15th Birthday! I thought this was going to be a treat for them but service is horribly slow and it was not crowded, we were able to immediately get a table but they seem to be short in staff. Presentation of the food was beautiful but it was not hot. And,after eating at other breakfast spaces in Atlanta, the french toast is underwhelming. Stopped by Cafe Intermezzo for a warm hot cocoa on a cold night after the theatre. We were able to walk in and be seated right away. We ordered the Hot Chocolate Deluxe Truffle and the White Hot Chocolate DeLuxe. The hot chocolates were good, but kind of cold. We also grabbed dinner as well. The Tomato Basil Pasta with chicken was delicious! The Salmon Pasta was just ok. The service was great; and parking is validated for 2 hrs in the garage.

This is a nice classy place, but you don't have to dress up to be seated. Me and my freind came here for a dinner date, we both ordered and revived our food pretty quick. TLDR: 10/10 ambiance, food, and service! This cafe reminds me of being it Italy or Paris, especially from the outside patio. Best cheesecake I've ever had in ATL (just try the vanilla or Oreo and thank me later). High prices for food and desserts but you get what you pay me. The inside of this cafe is gorgeous! My parents and I traveled to Atlanta this weekend for work & stumbled upon Cafe Intermezzo in Midtown. Due to my traveling delays we ended up here at 9pm for dinner on a Friday night and were worried about finding somewhere with no wait and good food.. luckily Cafe Intermezzo checked every box. We were sat as soon as we walked in and greeted with a dark/moody interior that reminded me of an authentic French cafe in the evening. We started with espresso martinis and then grabbed spinach dip for an appetizer. I then went simple for my main course with the tomato basil pasta. ** Staff was rude/dismissive and refused to seat my group of five ** Tonight my group of five went to Dua Vietnamese for dinner to celebrate a birthday. After dinner we asked the birthday girl where she wanted to finish the evening with dessert, cocktails and coffee and she chose Cafe Intermezzo. We were all excited because we all dine here sporadically and enjoy the savory food as well as the delicious desserts and coffee. I work on 14th street for a financial services business and regularly eat here and also take clients here. I have never had issues dining here until tonight. Two people in our group of five had small 4 inch carry out containers with leftover food from our dinner at Dua Vietnamese. The hostess stated they have a policy of not seating customers that have food from other restaurants. I patiently and politely explained that since they serve desserts and coffee that reasonable people would expect that patrons might choose to have dinner elsewhere and then celebrate with desserts, cocktails and coffee at Intermezzo. She spoke to our group of 50/60 something's like we were children and refused to seat us. We are a group of mature professionals that work in the surrounding area. We were disappointed and upset. I 100% respect business policies however I have a choice where I will be spending my personal money and my business expense account for entertaining clients and friends and I won't be patronizing this restaurant anymore. read more

It was a cloudy day that turned sunny, but it is covered so I wouldn't have been too worried if it started raining. This place is always a vibe! I love how intimate the atmosphere is and how pleasant the service is. Every time I come here I try something different. Cafe Intermezzo apparently is more of a dessert place but we went here for brunch. We got a table right away and the food was decent. It didn't blow me away and I didn't really like the baked Brie (it was a little rubbery but I'm not sure it's possible for baked Brie not to become rubbery after the first few minutes) but I enjoyed the avocado toast and the people I was there with said they liked their food too! I've been to cafe intermezzo plenty of times across several locations and it never fails to hit the spot! I usually love going there for drinks and dessert, but most recently I went with a friend for dinner. Parking is actually validated by Cafe Intermezzo, but I actually walked up through midtown. For a weeknight dinner they seated us very quickly inside, but I know on weekends it can be super busy! It's very cozy. We ordered a couple espresso martinis (theirs is one of my favorites in Atlanta!). We also had the spinach/artichoke dip which was very tasty. For dinner, I had the chicken caprese crepe. I loved the pesto in it! The service was a little slow so we had a very long dinner which we didn't mind as we were catching up, but definitely made it hard when we were trying to catch our servers eye for the check! This is one of our must-visit spots when we come to ATL. The hostess was warm and welcoming, so it was extra nice coming out of the GA spring rain. My family and I came midday, so we actually ordered something that wasn't just coffee and dessert! The avocado toast was well received and inhaled. The chicken sausage looked good; hubby had no complaints. The banana-nutella crepes were huge! There are pecans on them that aren't listed on the menu--just an FYI. I tried the seafood crepe for the first time, and it would've been amazing had it not been swimming in sauce. We were so full, this time we didn't have dessert... although I did get a Fruti de Bosco to go! We had a Mexican Hot Chocolate, a Hot Chocolate Berlin, a deluxe hot chocolate, & an Irish Coffee. Old Faithful! I've been eating at Cafe Intermezzo since early 2000s. So yes, i am a regular at both locations. It's a spot that I frequent if I'm out late or want dessert. This post is not about the food (which I've had several dishes over the years and I love the hummus btw) but it's about my absolute favs: the Bosco and the Mexican hot chocolate. If you are a Bosco lover like me, you know if you spot it, you must ask for it right away. This light, semi/sweet tart is a crowd favorite and it goes fast. The Mexican hot chocolate is a must. Ask for a shot if Bailey's (thank me later). If you're from Atlanta or have lived here as long as I have, I know you're sad because a lot of our old faithful restos have closed (shed several tears for Babette's Cafe) so I was so happy to see Cafe Intermezzo was still packed and my favs are remain on the menu. Oh and don't forget to practice your Italian in the restrooms. I typically practice out loud . read more
