This is one of our must-visit spots when we come to ATL. The hostess was warm and welcoming, so it was extra nice coming out of the GA spring rain. My family and I came midday, so we actually ordered something that wasn't just coffee and dessert! The avocado toast was well received and inhaled. The chicken sausage looked good; hubby had no complaints. The banana-nutella crepes were huge! There are pecans on them that aren't listed on the menu--just an FYI. I tried the seafood crepe for the first time, and it would've been amazing had it not been swimming in sauce. We were so full, this time we didn't have dessert... although I did get a Fruti de Bosco to go! We had a Mexican Hot Chocolate, a Hot Chocolate Berlin, a deluxe hot chocolate, & an Irish Coffee. Old Faithful! I've been eating at Cafe Intermezzo since early 2000s. So yes, i am a regular at both locations. It's a spot that I frequent if I'm out late or want dessert. This post is not about the food (which I've had several dishes over the years and I love the hummus btw) but it's about my absolute favs: the Bosco and the Mexican hot chocolate. If you are a Bosco lover like me, you know if you spot it, you must ask for it right away. This light, semi/sweet tart is a crowd favorite and it goes fast. The Mexican hot chocolate is a must. Ask for a shot if Bailey's (thank me later). If you're from Atlanta or have lived here as long as I have, I know you're sad because a lot of our old faithful restos have closed (shed several tears for Babette's Cafe) so I was so happy to see Cafe Intermezzo was still packed and my favs are remain on the menu. As a cheesecake fan, I have heard about Cafe Intermezzo's amazing selection of cheesecakes and have always wanted to give them a try. I was finally able to do so recently via a takeout. We ordered the Spicy Tortellini (which was actually kot spicy at all) and Chicken Salad Croissant for dinner. The tri-color nature of the Tortellini made the dish more appetizing, and I was surprised to find that the green tortellinis actually have a taste of spinach (I actually thought it was matcha at first)! I would recommend getting this dish in-house to make sure you get the cheese-pull experience. I also hoped the portions were greater for its price. The chicken salad had a lemony taste that far exceeded my expectations. For dessert, we ordered the traditional cheesecake, white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, and the key lime cheesecake. My favorite was the key lime flavor because it was less sweet compared to the other flavors, and the tanginess of the lime really went well with the cheesecake. So ended up here after a lunch meeting. This place is kind of a one stop shop. Coffee for the caffeine drinkers... Cake for the sugar lovers... Brunch food for the brunch hunters... And a full bar for the alcoholics! It's a dim and intimate spot that gives off Victorian mansion vibes (lots of statues and pillars all around). It's perfect for a date spot. We were in Midtown on a recent Saturday evening and decided to get something dessert-y and sweet - like cake, and we just happened to be driving right past Cafe Intermezzo, which we knew served great tasting cakes. We found paid parking available in the large parking garage between Peachtree Street and Juniper Street, entering it off of 12th Street. Cafe Intermezzo validates parking for 2 hours, so bring the ticket for parking into the restaurant for validation. Cafe Intermezzo is located at the corner of 11th Street and Peachtree Street. We were greeted immediately by the hostess who led us to a table in the indoor dining area where we could look out the windows facing Peachtree and people watch. R and I both went back to the entrance area where cakes and cheesecakes were in the refrigerated display cases so that we could gawk at their delicious presentation and decide which cakes we were going to order slices from. Our very courteous server, who provided great customer service throughout the entire time we were there, came by to take our orders after we sat down. We told him that we were only going to have cakes and I was going to drink water, since we'd been outside in the sun and were close to dehydration. I ordered a slice of German Chocolate torte, and R ordered Strawberry Creme torte and an iced vanilla latte. In a very short time the iced vanilla latte was served, followed by the tortes a few minutes later. I loved the German Chocolate torte, which had a delicious richness to it and not too sweet. R thought his Strawberry Creme torte and iced vanilla latte were great. I was very impressed with Gaybriel (the name on our receipt), our server. He was absolutely great. Even though he knew that we were there only for dessert, he still came by periodically to check on us, and was constantly refilling my water glass, and showed a fantastic overall level of service. Best thing about this place is that they validate for the deck in the building which is the best so definitely park there It was packed inside but our table for 3 was seated relatively quickly. We sat down and each ordered a drink a slice of cheesecake to share. The drinks took forever to show up and we had finished the cheesecake by the time they did but everything still tasted phenomenal! Service was also great. To drink, I got the espresso martini and it had to be one of the best espresso martinis I have had in a long time. Came here for a meeting one weekday afternoon. There's a parking garage right behind Cafe Intermezzo and they validate the first two hours. It's $6 per hour after that. This location stays busy. The place was packed. I arrived over an hour early for my meeting and sat at the bar to get coffee, lunch and get some work done. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered a honey cinnamon oat milk latte and a salmon caesar salad. I didn't finish my lunch before my meeting and the staff helped me move my food over to the table with my group. The coffee was nice and strong, as usual. The caesar salad was great - fresh and tasty. My group also enjoyed their coffee and salads. I don't normally come to Cafe Intermezzo for lunch. Light, fluffy, creamy. My go-to drink here is the French 75. There can be quite a bit of a wait, but you can typically find bar seating right away. There's parking in the Loew's garage. Very quaint cafe with great food! My friend and I visited on a Monday evening and were seated immediately. I got the intermezzo hot chocolate while my friend got the intermezzo cappuccino to drink. For food, I got the seafood crepe and she got the chicken croissant sandwich. The hot chocolate was delicious and presented very prettily. The cappuccino was good, but presentation- not so much. Such a romantic place to get your desserts! The interior is so well-decorated, creating a romantic atmosphere, which was perfect for date night. And the desserts are absolutely divine. Our frutti di bosco and cookies and cream cheesecake were so good and not incredibly sweet either, which was perfect for us. I'm not a huge fan of desserts that are so dense it makes you regret your life choices after you leave the restaurant. I would say this is a must-visit place if you are visiting Atlanta. It's not amazing, but just a fun experience that you should try at least a handful of times. Cafe Intermezzo is a cute, fancy coffee and dessert spot. Good for date nights or for a special occasion. The place itself is dimly lit - good for romantic lighting I guess but honestly sometimes I think it is a little too dim. Tables are close to one another so you feel a little cramped and feel like you don't have much privacy. Not all seating is comfortable. They have a bit of outdoor seating as well. The decor is lovely and feels fancy. The bathroom speakers have someone reading in French(?) - it's odd but adds to the fancy vibe I guess lol. Despite the vibes luckily there is no dress code, I have seen people come here in comfortable clothing and shorts. But if you want to dress up you won't look out of place either. The food here is very mediocre and overpriced. I would not eat here for dinner or for a savory meal. What stands out here are the cakes (think Cheesecake Factory cakes but fancier) and coffee. he coffee cups are huge and so are the cakes. They are pricey but portion wise it is a lot and hard for one person to finish alone unless you have one hell of a sweet tooth. Last time I checked I believe the cakes were $8-$9+ and they have all sorts of flavors. I would recommend splitting a cake and even coffee with someone. Their cakes and coffee are tasty. The staff is helpful and will tell you what cakes/cheesecakes they have out on display. Once you pick which cake you want they will give you a number that you take back to your table and hand to your waiter. Other than that though I would not say service is super friendly or on top of things, just okay. They do validate parking for 2 hrs at the garage around the building. Do not patronize this restaurant if you have any type of allergies! I have severe dog allergies. As a long time patron, I have never seen any animals allowed inside. My sister and I waited for 30 minutes only to be seated in the same area as a couple with a non-service dog. When I inquired of the staff and management as to why they do not have any signage indicating they allow non service animals, there was nothing given but deflection and no accommodations were made when it was very clear my dining experience was interrupted by a dog that was shaking off in the restaurant and being passed around like a baby. It was like a clam chowder dip. Flavorful, a little weird sounding but good. Then we got the mussels and it was perfectly seasoned and the sauce was very good. Oh, goodness, what did I delightfully experience this past weekend?? I was totally unaware of Cafe Intermezzo despite my frequent visits to Atlanta (I'm from Florida) but it was strongly recommended by a local friend, and I'm SO glad she told me to go. This corner property is a delight visually even before entering. I checked out the menu posted outside in case there were differences from what I'd seen online. I was considering several items, and figured I'd make a final decision after speaking with my assigned server. Once inside it was a quick check-in (I was third in line) and that's when the 'dining experience' truly began upon meeting the podium team member (Cowander/CC) and a member of management (Doneshia). Big smiles and personality shown in seconds, and I was made to feel welcome and valued before being seated. I gave a phone number for texting when table was ready, and the wait time was quite minimal. I noticed there was outdoor seating along the sidewalk, and I'd told them I was open to anything, but my assigned table was indoors in a fantastic separate room behind the main dining area. It was perfection, and visually stunning, along with the rest of this entire restaurant. My server (Camille) continued that great hospitality that began at the entrance. She was welcoming, attentive, and totally accurate throughout my time there. Her menu descriptions, and recommendations, were very much appreciated. My choice ended up being the French Toast (w/ bananas and pecans) and some extra side items. It was delivered to my table quicker than I'd anticipated, was plated nicely, and tasted even better, despite being a rather simple item. Perhaps that was also due to the overall atmosphere created by the venue and its team members. It was almost like they'd attended a quality Guest Service training class and were easily checking off the boxes that make the appropriate first impressions. Bravo on that internal success! When in this back dining room, you might also have a perfect viewing (through the glass) of the main bar and some very active bartenders. On a future visit I might choose to dine there and watch that great crafting even more closely. Several dining guest at neighboring tables could be overheard bragging on the quality of their drinks, and the espresso martini is apparently quite popular. I also noticed that others dining nearby were completely finishing everything on their plates, as did I, so that indicated others were equally satisfied. This will certainly become a repeat experience for me, and I look forward to the next visit and trying something new on the menu. As I exited the restaurant, I was recognized by name from the podium and thanked for my visit and earlier kind words. That, my friends, is how you create a perfect 'lasting impression' to complete something that was already deemed perfect. I've been going to Cafe Intermezzo for over 20 years, starting with their original location in Buckhead. It still is the best and most unique coffee spot in the city, especially if you are looking for a place for a candlelight dinner or desserts. Desserts have never disappointed me and the coffee options are so unique. I've ordered food here in the past, which is very tasty. But my favorite reason to come to Cafe Intermezzo is for desserts and coffee; and preferably for date night with my husband. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive as well. The only downside was the parking- we found the adjacent garage for parking, which was validated. So, coming from the garage to the restaurant was easy. What was an inconvenience was getting into the garage after our meal. Evidently the office building entrance to the garage closes after a certain time. So, we had no idea how to get back into the garage and ended up walking up the ramp used by cars to enter the garage (where you get the parking ticket), which was on the opposite side of the elevators. Since we entered a totally different way, we had to navigate through the garage without the benefit of retracting our steps from when we entered. Consequently, it took us a while to find our car. However, this won't stop me from coming back. It's just an inconvenience that was unexpected. read more
