The interior/ atmosphere is so cute, perfect for a date night, girls night out, or even a business dinner meeting. It's the perfect blend between casual/ formal, without feeling too much. The food and drinks are some of the best I've ever had. You can tell the staff/ management took their time when creating each dish and cocktail. Standout items: Spicy seafood dip- served with fresh, warm bread. The dip even has whole pieces of seafood in it. Salmon Oscar - cooked perfectly and with a creamy, rich hollandaise sauce. Chicken saltimbocca- packed with flavor and garlic- yum!! White & spice cocktail- I don't even like bourbon and I was in love with this drink. Tip: Don't skip dessert! They have an amazing display of cakes & cheesecakes! The tiramisu cheesecake is awesome and we also tried the vegan pb chocolate cheesecake mouse - which was so good! My experience at this establishment was far from satisfactory. I have visited on three separate occasions, and twice I discovered foreign objects our meals. On the first occasion, my friend found a hair and on the second instance, an insect was present in my food, as shown in the attached photograph. I had ordered a chicken crepe and upon returning to my workplace, I discovered the insect in the box of leftovers. The condition of the box was exactly as it had been when I had it at the restaurant, untouched. Upon discovering the issue, I promptly returned to the restaurant and brought the matter to the attention of the manager. However, the manager's response was far from professional. She not only accused me of fabrication but also disputed the timeframe of my return, suggesting that hours had passed when in reality I had returned merely 15 minutes after leaving the establishment. She said " I will refund you only this time" !! Acting as if I come there everyday and do the same thing!! They clearly have a problem for that to occur twice. I have visited Cafe Intermezzo a couple of times in the last week and I wasn't disappointed. I think there are some things the establishment could work on, but nothing so bad that I won't return. There is a parking garage located across the street that I would recommend parking in. The staff is very kind and informative. I had new servers both times I dined, and for the most part, you couldn't tell they were new. The more seasoned servers that helped them out, were definitely in the know of the in's and out's of the menu. The whole cafe part is very much the theme- lots of cakes and sweets in the display place in the front, a full list of coffee's and tea's, even the tables and chairs felt like from a cafe that invited everyone to have a cup of tea. The wine list was nice, but lacking in the champagne department. The liquors were typical, nothing extremely fascinating. The tea was delicious, as was the coffee. The first time around, we ordered more on the brunch side of the menu. We had the Spinach Dip (which was served with some of the best garlic bread we've ever had), then the Avocado Toast and French Toast. As a vegetarian, I had the Avocado Toast and it was good! A much more upgraded version of the typical dish. The next time we dined, we went more on the lunch route. My friend had the Cannelini, Sausage, and Kale Soup followed by the "Joy of the Garden" with salmon. He enjoyed the soup, and was rather ambivalent about the salmon. I will say he was still hungry after this meal and I ended up taking him to get BBQ! I got the Truffled Cheese Melt with a side salad. The grilled cheese was a little underwhelming and the salad was quite small. The dressing on the lettuce was delicious though. The reason I will be returning to Cafe Intermezzo is because it transports you out of Nashville (especially out of the neighborhood), and there are a lot of vegetarian dishes I want to try that look promising. read more

If you need a nice, quiet reprieve from Broadway - this is the place to go. The interior has a tranquil Parisienne/European atmosphere. The music was lovely & soothing, and the staff was very sweet. I got the Intermezzo cappuccino with a Nutella banana crêpe. Both were fabulous. I'm always a bit dubious about ordering a crêpe in the US, but their crêpes were perfect. My husband and friend both got salads with grilled chicken and said they were very good (they were a decent size as well). A large party of 7, we were told there would be a 30 minute wait for a restaurant that was at less than 10% capacity. So we waited outside and waited and waited. The patio is covered and enclosed on three sides, helping to keep out the wind and sun. We could actually hear ourselves converse, even through the sound of traffic and city life. It was very pleasant outside and we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch date. My latte was delicious (be forewarned, though, that the drinks here are very expensive; prepare to indulge) but I couldn't tell what part made it good--it was difficult to judge the quality of the coffee through the caramel. The charcuterie platter was just the right size to split between us alongside a main course: I had a caesar salad (unadventurous of me, yes--but I wanted the charcuterie and caramel latte to be the highlights of the meal) while my husband had spicy tortellini with salmon. He said the tortellini dish was excellent. The service was great, too. Our server was very prompt and sweet. If ever we end up in Nashville again, we'll be going back to this place. read more

I visited Cafe Intermezzo this weekend while I was on the verge of hangry. I sat at the bar and ordered a bellini (to help calm the hunger), and quickly ordered the Truffled Cheese Melt, which is basically a fancy grilled cheese. As I waited to eat, I was in awe of the beauty of this building. The decor inside is absolutely stunning, and you feel like you are in a fancy European cafe. Even the bathroom was charming and fit in with the decor. They totally nailed their theme! My sandwich was delicious; I just wish it was a bit hotter, but like I said, I was hungry and didn't want to wait. I ate my entire sandwich and left no room for dessert, but I wish I did since everything in the case looked terrific. If I had more time in Nashville, I would have returned for another visit to try something else. read more

This review is solely for the CAKES! Ohhhh the cakes!!! Right when you walk into Cafe Intermezzo, they have a pastry case with 15+ cakes and you can buy by the slice. I've had a number of their cheesecakes. My favorite so far is the white chocolate raspberry but I've never had any that aren't amazing. Also available on Grubhub. I will say they're pricey around $10 per slice. But delicious! read more

We are staying across the street at the Four Seasons and have already ordered food to go from here three times. Quality and flavor is great, the prices are fair (especially compared to our hotel room service) and the staff is super friendly. My toddler loved their noodles and salmon which is a huge win considering he's been binging on chicken tenders this entire trip. Also love that the kids meal comes with fresh cut strawberries. It's old world charming and felt like we should be in a European city. They have a fabulous coffee menu! I got the cafe intermezzo latte and it was so good! I also got soup, it was ok. I also got a breakfast croissant and it was flaky goodness! I parked in the garage across the street. There is some major construction going on next door and there isn't any street parking at all...of course it's the middle of downtown so I don't think there would be any to start with. Went there around 4 pm before I met with my friends for dinner. I had read great reviews on their tiramisu and just wanted to try that. The restaurant was 95% empty. I walked in asked for table for 1. The manager said give me a minute, let me find a table for you. he went to the other end of the restaurant, stood behind a pillar checked his phone for few seconds. Comes back in a minute and says, your table is ready. There were only 2 other tables occupied in the whole restaurant. And he had to do that?? Then I wait for the server to come and get my order. There was only 1 lady server on the floor for the whole time I was there. She took about 8 mins to come and even check on me. I place my order. She comes and just puts the plate and leaves. A couple months back my friend and I went out for dinner and afterwards we were on a hunt for some Italian bakery desserts. Upon parking we got stuck between the garage and the cafe with just an awful down pour of rain so we waited a few minutes. Once we finally arrived we realized they just locked their doors, not aware of the time which was our own fault. To our surprise, a lady opened and asked what we were looking to order and we let her know we wanted to get some desserts to go. She ended letting us in and we were so thankful for that gesture! We took home some tiramisu cheese cake as well as a tres leche cheesecake and both were exquisite! I am looking forward to coming back (while being aware of the time) to try more desserts! read more
