When I was in Helen for Oktoberfest we stopped off at Cafe International for a some food and drink. I would say overall, it was a pleasant experience. But not much really made it stand out. With many of the spots on the main drag, the food is going to be pricey for the quality/quantity you get. So, keep expectations in line. My guess is that most of there customer base are tourists. The menu was pretty standard for the area along with the tap list. I will say, the service was better than the average joint on the strip. Our servers were friendly and attentive. It also has a nice little patio section that is fully covered. It allows you to sit outside near the water. When I go to Helen again I might end up here. I'm not opposed. But also not going to seek it out.

Went to the cafe with good expectations after looking at the menu. What I will say is I am thankful for the vegetarian options. But the quality of food was not great. The view was nice tho. but the prices weren't . We exchanged the chips that came with our food for something else. Mine was green beans. And they charged us 4 dollars for each side! Take a look at the photo. They gave about 10 little green beans. Insane. They also charged me for one extra slice of tomato, onion and lettuce??? The waiters were nice but busy. Just seems like a tourist trap. :/

What a hidden gem! We sat outside overlooking the water and watched people tubing by, it was so relaxing. Even in 90-degree heat, there was a cool breeze that made it surprisingly comfortable. I ordered the vegan Beyond Bratwurst on a pretzel bun (no butter), with sauerkraut and fries. It was my first time trying a vegan bratwurst, and I loved it, it tasted just like I remember a real brat should taste! The service was quick, and everyone was incredibly friendly. Parking is limited, but we were lucky to find a spot. Also, it's dog friendly! So glad we found this jewel of a place, highly recommend!

Pita instead of bread! It was very hearty and tasty! Potatoes salad.

Unexpectedly good! More of a dive feel but, we had everything we needed. They had a main stage just outside with live music, we sat by the river and had good service and food! The patio we sat on was wrapped with plastic like a tent cover for the cold weather and the beers were good. The Sandwhich I had was excellent! Real thick cuts of meat and my husband got the platter. Cost was right on. :)

Just came for a hot chocolate with rum chata and peppermint bark. It was delicious. They had great Christmas music and loved the decoration and fire going. Staff was very nice.

Area they wanted us to sit in the sun

Came in with my family with a party at six at about 4:20. they wanted us to sit down at this table that was for the six of us but we asked to move to a place in the shade. they said they couldnt sit us down near the water because "if someone else wants to come in then we cant take up that spot" waiter was rude the whole time. There wasnt any sense because only 2 other people were there and there were 3 waiters sitting down. overall rude and with no common sense in the workers

We got reuben. The sandwich came with chips and not fries. The sandwich was very greasy and didn't have a lot of meat on it. We also got a pretzel with beer cheese. The beer cheese was good and tasty for dipping. They had an open spot in a parking lot where the kids were able to run a little and do some plastic axe throwing.

We shared the German sampler. It was enough food for two. The pretzel was delicious. It was nice to try some German food. The loaded nachos are a good sharing option. I would recommend.

This is the view from where we sit.It was a spectacular view

The service was awesome. The people were really friendly and the wait time was not very long. It's just a relaxing place to sit and enjoy. Looking at the river and just watching people walk by

After getting and consuming my meal, I found it to be way over priced ($30) for what I got. But that was not was I was charged. I was charged $31.62 (I believe) for the Chattahoochee board. The two decent sized sausages were ok. The beer cheese for the pretzel was like warm. All of the "mains" had an added charge on the bill. Our waiter explained why, but it made no sense to me.

Not too bad for the first meal. I wouldn't really say it's typical German more so bar food. Brauts are offered and pretzel. My beef on the French dip was dry I drenched it heavily in the jus. My kiddos overall loved the fries. There wasn't any wait nor did it take long for food to come out. So I'd recommend for a quick lunch but nothing overly fancy. With the view of the river and live music it was cool!

I've been here so many times over the last 12 years, and thi is one of my favorite places in Helen! It's a really neat atmosphere, being on the river. They have lots of German food and some regular options, such as burgers and turkey sandwiches. I LOVE the bratwurst here. They have good wine and mimosas. They also have gluten free bread!

This is a sweet little spot on the river in the middle of Helen, Ga! I had one of the top 2 best Ruben sandwiches I've ever had. So delicious! The food was fantastic! The weather was a little chilly on the porch, there was a heater out there but it wasn't putting off much heat with the wide opening at the entrance. But the staff was very friendly, helpful and genuine. We loved it!

Good food, good ambience, good service. It's a great dive. Priced correctly. Just passing thru town cannot come back anytime soon.

This place brought me so much happiness and joy. I got the salmon Alfredo as a test of sorts. I'm picky, VERY picky when it comes to pasta, even worse with sauces. I taste the avocado salad first. One singular tear of pure joy falls from my eye. The chicken was fried perfectly. The food didn't stand a chance against my appetite. I didn't even get to get a photo of my meal before I was violently destroying my plates (with love.) My sweet tea was perfect. Not sugar water, not overly sweet nor under sweetened. I didn't even need to ask for a refill, they just offered right when k was low. Then I tasted the salmon Alfredo. You know those scenes in ratatouille? When remy tastes the cheese and the strawberry together? Then when the food critic had the ratatouille? That's exactly what happened. It was as if the chef and waiters were ethereal beings sent from heaven solely to give my meager human taste buds a chance of experiencing pure bliss. It was gorgeous. I will be back if only to experience the beauty of such blessed Italian food. Other restaurants wish they can be like Mariolino's, I guarantee you, that other restaurants fall short.

We all ordered with the mixture of pizza to my chicken pasta, tortellini, and shrimp fettuccine. All were well-made, the pizza really stood out with a great crust and flavor. My chicken presented well but was really lacking seasoning but nothing a little salt and pepper didn't correct. Shrimp fettuccine also seem to lack seasoning, but I tend to look for a little more aggressive seasoning before tasting.. Plates were nice portions, even had to get two to go boxes, including half the pizza which we enjoy later.. if you're looking for Italian, this was very good. We had a reservation for dinner on 12/20 at 6:30 pm. Knowing it was the holiday season and that Dahlonega is a popular destination, we intentionally made a reservation so our family could enjoy a relaxed dinner together during our visit. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in several ways. Cons: Despite having a reservation, we waited an excessive amount of time to be seated. Once seated, our table was visibly dirty. When a server finally came by, bread was delivered without plates, utensils, or napkins, which required an additional long wait. Service throughout the meal was extremely slow. We watched several other parties arrive, dine, and leave while we were still waiting. The chicken piccata was not prepared correctly and tasted more like a sour Alfredo-style sauce. The steak was chewy and not cooked as ordered. Pros: We received a small complimentary cannoli for a birthday, which was appreciated. The ambiance was festive and nice for the holidays. Had we known about the level of service and food quality ahead of time, we would have chosen to dine elsewhere during our visit.
