I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share this experience for others who may be deciding where to dine while visiting Dahlonega. We had a reservation for dinner on 12/20 at 6:30 pm. Knowing it was the holiday season and that Dahlonega is a popular destination, we intentionally made a reservation so our family could enjoy a relaxed dinner together during our visit. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in several ways. Cons: Despite having a reservation, we waited an excessive amount of time to be seated. Once seated, our table was visibly dirty. When a server finally came by, bread was delivered without plates, utensils, or napkins, which required an additional long wait. Service throughout the meal was extremely slow. We watched several other parties arrive, dine, and leave while we were still waiting. The chicken piccata was not prepared correctly and tasted more like a sour Alfredo-style sauce. The steak was chewy and not cooked as ordered. Pros: We received a small complimentary cannoli for a birthday, which was appreciated. The ambiance was festive and nice for the holidays. Had we known about the level of service and food quality ahead of time, we would have chosen to dine elsewhere during our visit. Me and my now fiancé decided to give this place another try. Unfortunately the food was not up to the standard that I wanted . The Cumming location is great, but the Dahlonega location needs some support in the food. The ambience and service is always great, that's not the issue . The issue is in the food and I think the quality of meat, quality of sauce, and especially the quality in the calamari needs to be improved . Red sauce tasted like Ragu. Alfredo sauce tasted worse than what you buy out of a jar at a grocery store. The waitress said I could add peppers and onions to my sausage and penne. The server that brought it out said it wasn't included with a slight attitude. I told him the waitress, and identified which waitress, said I could. He went to talk to the waitress, she came back 5 minutes later and said would have the kitchen cook some. They never brought them out. When the waitress came back 10 minutes later she apologized for the kitchen not bringing it. Daughter didn't eat her chicken fettuccine Alfredo at all because it tasted so bad. We had a large group of 20 for a surprise birthday celebration. Everything was absolutely perfect! Food was great, service could not have been any better, our glasses were never empty! The staff was very sweet and fast. The bread rolls they bring out are really excellent and best thing about this place. The pasta is below average. The pasta sauce was very bland and needs some flavor added to it. I wasn't even given enough sauce to coat the noodles. Both me and my sister didn't feel great after eating here. Not much variety of places to eat in town but would stick to the bar food ones. Hidden little gem in Dahlonega. Excellent Italian food and lots of choices on the menu at very reasonable prices. The chicken parmigiana, pasta side and salad were perfect and the rolls were awesome. The atmosphere was very nice during lunch and would like to go back at night. Our server took great care of us and made great recommendations from the menu. We will definitely be back. read more

I got the chicken fettuccine alfredo and my daughter got a mini pizza. The alfredo tasted very bland like they didn't put any seasoning on it and my daughter's mini pizza wasn't good either and tasted like plastic. The place was clean, and the staff was great! A good family friendly restaurant offering well priced fare. My Chicken Parm was well prepared and served with Spaghetti and warmed rolls and balsamic vinegar and oil. I ordered a garden salad that was fresh. In all I'd eat here again. I ate at the bar so service was spot on. read more

So, I am a transplant to North Georgia and can't find great restaurants. Everything is just okay for 7 months..... until we find Grapevine's in Dahlonaga! Competes with So FL all day long! Decor is kinda chill and does not reflect the experience!! Our waitress, Jean, was over the top!!! Sweet, friendly and so knowledgeable!! She's a gem! She steered us to the special, Pork Tenderloin, with a wine steeped pear and a side! O. M. G.!!! Greatest meal in 7+ months!!! So amazingly delicious. Walking into this quaint little place after a busy and funfilled day at Babyland, consolidated gold mine, the gold mine museum and the grits mill, we was seated right away. We was brought some dinner rolls. Oh, my goodness the rolls!!!! They are so soft and so good with the marina sauce. The oil, balsamic and spices they bring out on the plate has zero flavor, use your sauce on your entree to dip them in, they'll bring you fresh rolls with your meal too. The lasagna!!!! Looking for a lite dinner after finishing our wine tastings and this place came kind of recommend although it said to be chain like. It was but it still felt local as well as touristy. We got some breadsticks and a cup of tomato soup. Both were pretty good but nothing too spectacular. We decided to split a veal marsala. Pretty tasty! Chicken was cook good and sauce was flavorful. I got a side of parmesan risotto that was pretty tasty as well. Overall a solid spot that is not fancy but from our experience is consistent. We came at 2PM for a meal. It was not very crowded. We waited sooo long for wine, salads, meal, dessert. Our server appeared to be running every time we saw her. Wondering if they staff down from 2-5? We ordered the recommended chicken piccata and shrimp scampi. The chicken dish was OK, small portion. The side spaghetti w/ marinara was bland. The shrimp scampi was disgraceful! It was plain shrimp thrown over angel hair pasta. No butter, garlic, sauce, or flavor of any kind. Clearly, they do not make pasta in-house. We found out about this place from a friend who owns a business in the area. It's on Grove St just off E. Main St. About a three minute walk from the square. It's a small cozy atmosphere, nothing fancy, but homey. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. We didn't have apps, just a salad and main course, but the apps that passed our table looked quite good. We both had Caesar salads to start. The dressing was made in house and was not quite your traditional Caesar but very good in it's own way. I had the lobster ravioli al vodka, nicely done and decent sized portion. Came to Dahlonega for freshman orientation at UNG. Saw this on Yelp and my mom and I were wanting Italian. Looks a little sketchy from the outside but nice on the inside. Took a minute to get bread (said it was just delivered and they were waiting on it to thaw). All of the food was great. Not the best Italian I've ever had but I would eat here again. read more

Came to Grapevine for a carb laden journey that sort of met but did not exceed expectations. My wife and I tried the Chicken Piccata and the Cioppino (Mediterranean like seafood stew). Both were very underwhelming. The former was a bit too much on the lemon front and the chicken was pretty tasteless. Nothing was offensive but you expect more than what you'd make out of a box at home from the pasta at an Italian place. The stew was similarly just ok. The red house marinara sauce was decent but the fish was pretty bland. I liked the muscles but it only came with two. Shrimp were similar while there was a bunch of mini scallops but they were disappointing and seemed like they came warmed up from the freezer. On the plus side the server recommended the Vodka sauce, which we got on the side (although it would have been nice if she mentioned that this had a small cost) and was much better than either of the sauces that came with the dishes. The warm buttery bread was also nice and the staff were all very pleasant. The Caesar salad was also on point. We spent about $50 which seemed appropriate for the decent portions, although we did not take our leftovers home with us because they just weren't worth it. We wandered up to dahlonega today to attend the Bear fest and popper in here for lunch. My daughter ordered the chicken piccata and hubby and I split the chicken pesto pizza and a Caesar Salad. The pizza actually had a fabulous crispy crust and was the highlight of the meal. They bring bread sticks out along with dipping oil and spices, very nice touch. My daughters chicken piccata was just OK though, the sauce was really good however the chicken was a little mushy versus would've tasted a lot better if the chicken were a bit crisper. 1/15/2023. First & last visit. Italian slop. Quite possibly the worst food ever set before me and the cook (couldn't possibly be a chef) moved so slowly he might as well have been going backwards. My Portofino Ravioli was difficult to cut with a fork, the pasta was extremely thick, undercooked and tasted like paste. Could not even see the cheese let alone taste it. The sauce was bland and likely canned. Son's Chicken Parmesan was burned then swamped in sauce and the Alfredo side (usually his favorite) was flavorless and congealed. Daughter's Chicken Pamplona had a very unappetizing smell and the chicken was very very very dry. The risotto side was crunchy mushy porridge rice (her words). My husband rated his lasagne's flavor at about 4 out 10, but it was inedible because it was partially cold. Must have been frozen and nuked. The iceberg lettuce side salads had to be heavily drowned in ranch dressing to disguise the bitterness of all the yellow core lettuce. The only thing that was "good" were the hot rolls. So we paid for the drinks and bread and left the disgusting so called Italian food on the table. read more

Our experience at Grapevine wasn't up to our expectations this time. We've been before, but it wasn't nearly as busy then as it was on this Saturday evening on a Holly show night. The service felt rushed and lacking any care or real attention. We were seated on time, but waited a long time just to get the salads from our order. Silverware still hadn't been placed, and when the food came out, it was good if not a little over cooked. In the end, I didn't feel it was worth $65 for two adults and two kids . Overall nice ambiance and great staff for a typical Italian food joint. I am Italian and I judge the gravy... this gravy wasn't very good. It was super saucy and barely any crushed tomatoes, almost like a can with extra basil and some spice added. My son had the Mac n cheese and he could barely eat it because the amount of cheese was over the top stretchy. My husband got a flatbread and the bread was mega thick and he didn't eat the bread. First let me start by saying that the bartender made the best Moscow mule I have ever had , our servers did great and tended to the 16 of us fast and courteously and that is why they got stars ! The food on the other hand was micro-wave fresh straight out of the Chef Boyardee cook book . The lasagna was terrible lacked taste sauce acidity was elevated and also straight out of the microwave , the fried calamari were gummy and oily . The salad was good, the lobster ravioli were hot on the outter border and cold in the center ( micro waved ) . The chicken Parmesan was burnt and covered with cheese two times it went back to the kitchen to the point we gave up on that meal . Once again I must say our servers did a great job !! So if I can recommend anything it would be to have a meal elsewhere and drop on by this establishment . Stay at the bar they will make you some great drinks !!
