Jessica makes you feel welcomed and appreciated as soon as you step inside the doorway. The menu has a very nice selection of meals for so many sorted flavors or cravings. First visit, the place was decked out for Christmas. I had the Meatloaf, which consists of two slices that are seared on the flat top (unfortunately, mine were a little overly seared) along with two sides. Meatloaf was flavorful, and I chose the loaded mashed potatoes and glazed carrots for the sides, both were very good. My wife had the 12 ounce ribeye and it was cooked to order and delicious. Nothing fancy here, just good food. Their French Onion soup is amazing! We also had their spinach and crab dip appetizer and it was very good. I had the coffee encrusted ribeye and it was cooked perfect. To me the Horseradish mashed potatoes could have used a tad more horseradish, but then I really like horseradish sooo.! My wife ordered the meatloaf and it was served with two big thick slices that was more than she could eat. She said the meatloaf itself was good, but the sauce was on the sweeter side and she likes tangy. Also the onions were still pretty crunchy and she would have preferred them more cooked. I wanted to be pleased with the food here. The reviews I read were good with a number of them mentioning the shrimp and grits. They are also pictured on their homepage and looked yummy. Imagine my surprise when the dish came out in a soup bowl. The grit cake was submerged in what I'd call a soup and you had to dig around for both the cake and the shrimp. The grit cake turned into mush. Beware. My husband enjoyed his catfish plate. It was large and enjoyable. To the restaurant. please change the description on the menu to read its a soup, or adjust the recipe to look like the picture on your website - a traditional shrimp and grit dish. We stopped in for lunch. We have been before and was nice. The service was fine, server was friendly but was the only one. The food took a long time to arrive. However I noticed a couple of guys arrived after we were seated but they received their food before other dining customers. ( connection with the manager or owner, just over hearing the conversation) saw the chef walking around in the restaurant while still waiting on our food. While out for a Sunday Funday drive through the Blue ridge mountains when I came across this nice little place on the outskirts of Dahlonega Ga. and decided to give it a try for lunch. Some nice high tops and nice bar area with good size TV's to catch a game. I found the food to be very delicious. The chicken Cesar Wrap was fresh and the chicken tender with the right amount of dressing. Oh and the French Onion soup was a home run. The cheese was toasted/melted and oh so gooey (lol) with plenty of onions all sitting in a very tasty broth. And quite an array of different bourbons. I went with the Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned. Nice heavy glass, 1 big ice cube and all the right toppings. However the service from beginning to end was subpar at best. Waited to get seated, waited to place the drink and food order, waited for the food and waited for the bill. Kinda put a damper on an otherwise nice experience. If you are looking for a local restaurant while in Northern Georgia, Public House is a good bet. We went in after a day of hiking, and truly delighted with the restaurant, the service and most importantly, the food. We ordered the smash burger, the French dip and the meatloaf. Sweet potato fries were very very tasty and the French fries, hand cut, were excellent. Both sandwiches got rave reviews by my daughters. The meatloaf, my goodness, was fantastic. Every. Bite. The horseradish mashed potatoes were well prepared and the hint of horseradish made them really good. I immediately went home to google recipes. I'm a sucker for okra, and Public House did not disappoint. A full bar allows a good drink too. We were so very happy we found this treat. You should find them too. Had lunch here this past Saturday and really liked the place. I had the Rubin and it was outstanding. really good corn beef and great rye bread. Had the house salad and it was very good also. My wife had the avocado and grilled chicken on a brioche bun with string fries and it was great also. Service was great, great local kind of atmosphere. If you don't want to have to deal with the downtown Dahlonega crowd or prices and want some really good food, I highly recommend the Public house just about a mile or so from town. We have been so impressed with this delightful town, the amazing restaurants,taverns and things to do here, plus the genuine friendliness of everyone we've met. The Public House of Dahlonega was on my list of where to eat and have drinks. Here is my review of this great restaurant: The Grey Goose Dirty Martini: Another FABulous martini in Dahlonega that was a big as my head! I swear the grow 'em big here! My martini was so delicious and served ultra, ultra cold just the way a martini should be. THIS was a one great dirty martini! The bartenders know how to make a martini right at Public House of Dahlonega! I later had a Sandpoint Chardonnay wine that was so delicious. Yum! I was very impressed with the large selections of wines and cocktails. The Chicken Wings: Their wings were earth shattering crispy and juicy inside. Not over cooked. You could hear the KA-RUNCH with every bite. Cooked to absolute perfection! These wings are Second to None. The chefs in that kitchen know how to cook chicken wings. I ordered my wings with Lemon Pepper Sauce. WHOA, It was to die for! The lemon pepper sauce was so lemony with a bright flavor, the perfect amount of black pepper and all of this buttery goodness. I'd use that stuff on everything! Shut the front door delicious! I kept saying "Wow! These wings are good"! My husband ordered his wings with their Buffalo Sauce. Crispy, tender wings that was not overloaded with sauce to overpower the them. The buffalo sauce was not too hot, not too mild...it was just right. The right amount of heat. Very, very tasty. Oh oh oh! Their bleu cheese! I immediately asked for another bleu cheese when I first placed my order for wings and waffle fries. Most taverns and restaurants where we live don't give you too much if it, so I'm used to ordering extra dip. Wellll....if bleu cheese or ranch dip comes with your order at Public House...trust me...you do NOT need to order an extra dip. When my order come out and I was looking at this very generous sized bowl FILLED with delicious bleu cheese! Again, they grow 'em big in Dahlonega! The Waffle Fries: Nice and light, crispy with a great potato flavor. Not greasy or oily at all. Waffle Fries Done Right. Wow, they were so good! The Fried Okra: Light crispy, crunchy coating on the outside and fried to golden perfection. The right amount of breading so the flavor of the okra shined. WOW, they were amazing! Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommended this restaurant! The prices are very reasonable! The service is friendly, attentive and stay on top of things. They don't miss a beat here. You are SO welcomed and are WELL taken cared off. You are treated so well, you feel like you've been a regular for years. The food is top quality, very generous in portions and really delicious. Went on a Sunday around 12:45pm. Servers were busy running back and forth. We did not see our's very often. Took right at about 1 hour from time we ordered until the food came out. Several other tables left. Server was pretty indifferent about it and said kitchen was backed up. I get it but 1 hour? Took forever to pay and leave too. We were sat immediately on the patio and placed our order fairly quickly. We waited and waited for over 45 minutes! The waitress never came by to let us know about our food - only after we asked, she then offered to fill our drinks. She then told us that our ticket was next to be prepared. Came in to see the lights downtown. Stopped in at 630 PM on a Monday. Had a wait over an hour, for essentially bar food. When we were finally seated, server took 10 minutes to greet us. The wait for food was the next slog... when it came 45 min later...for chicken tenders, burgers and a sandwich....meh. Calamari was good, but small quantity for the money. My one coke during the 40 minute wait was nice, even got to watch nice ice melt. Understaffed, overworked servers, hostess was bussing, and a slow kitchen made the stay an exhausting experience. Everything had a great flavor! The bread was delicious and the meat on the Philly cheesesteak had a great Smokey taste and the fries crispy and hot. Someone else in the group ordered the shrimp and grits, while it was a different take on what might be traditional shrimp and grits it was also delicious. The grits were kind of a grit cake in a really flavorful sauce. Shrimp were definitely the tiny ones and maybe 10 in the dish but the full flavor made up for the lack of volume on the shrimp. Also took an order of chicken wings to go and they had a decent crisp, flavor in those wings. Really nice wait staff and comfortable atmosphere. It wasn't crazy busy for lunch which was okay for us but the bar inside and outdoor area would indicate maybe also has a little 'night life' to offer. Will definitely return. read more

Girlfriend and I dined in for a late lunch. The food is fantastic. It's a newer restaurant that opened up late 2023. 1-2x a week they have a local band playing, generally on late Fridays. I was really impressed with the Au Jus gravy that is made in house. The drinks were also good. Each food item comes with a side free, unless you upgrade to a premium side for $1 more. The service was great and the waitress was super quick and professional. Overall 5 stars. FYI, city of Dahlonega workers, their school teachers and first responders get 10% discount Monday-Friday. The discount does not apply to everyone, only to the city employees listed above. read more

As new residents of Dahlonega we'd wanted to visit this nice looking restaurant. Though others had weakly recommended it, we forged ahead anyway. Neither finished our meals. This was standard, mass-produced, food service fare that comes on a refrigerated truck. It has no semblance to freshly made food. When I questioned why brown gravy would be put on garlic mashed potatoes, which I found unusual, the answer was, 'that's the way we do it.' A promising hope turned into a disappointing meal. The food served is plentiful and filling, but freshness and flavor have left the building. I'm glad my experience is in the minority here. On my first taste of the soup the main course was out on the table. I requested for the food to be replaced but the waiter rather credit the meal. So let's try and have desserts. We had visited this location several times over the years, when it was the Wagon Wheel. The interior has been tastefully redecorated by the new proprietor. We were seated promptly and the service was excellent throughout the meal. We had the Wednesday Prime Rib special. This came with a very good salad, loaded baked potato and a 12 oz. Prime Rib. The Prime Rib was cooked as requested and was delicious. We will be returning to try other dishes. read more

Stopped in on our way back to Lake Hartwell from Nashville. Amazing find - Great place! The food was so good. Fried catfish was some of the best I have ever had. My husband had a new menu item - country fried steak- made with filet mignon. It was also - Wow. We also had cocktails which were excellent. The staff was so friendly and definitely made our dinner super special. One of the staff even made me cocktail sauce from scratch. Tried this place this last Saturday as my brother in law's band was playing. One word - GREAT! We were served by the bartender (I want to say Jessica) and she was fantastic! Beer was there before I really needed it. Food was really good too. I had a Rueben and the wife a burger. I was plenty satisfied with the Rueben and she was full from the burger. Plenty of fries, which is a thing for me. It wasn't crowded but I believe it was the specific day. Maybe graduation parties or something as the other "hot" spots in Dahlonega were pretty empty too.
