Delicious food, very sweet French-style cafe on Webster St. My cobb salad was tremendous, and the grilled chicken and blue cheese were insanely delicious. They even have gluten-free bread. The lavender latte is a must have. My beau enjoyed his brunch plate which had eggs, sausages & toast. All the outside tables were taken but we enjoyed our cozy indoor table by the window. Got an omelet with a side of home fries. The omelet was the quality you'd expect from a Denny's: rubbery eggs, very little flavor. The homefries were a similar story, with no seasoning to cover up the blandness of the potatoes. The entire time I was waiting for my food and eating inside the establishment I was freezing, they must have the thermostat at 62 or something. This experience put me out $20. During lunch today (12:30 pm) the host sat two women and their dog next to me, which was definitely not a legal service animal as it appeared to be a small Pomeranian mix, and neither of the women were blind. I complained to the barista (dark hair woman w/ glasses) and explained the law to her, in addition to the health and safety concerns. She did absolutely NOTHING!!! I walked back to my seat to see the dog walking up and down the shared back wall seating, where I am other patrons were seated. Disappointed and disgusted, we left to NEVER return. Cafe Jolie is my go-to brunch spot when I come back to Alameda. There's a small metered lot behind the restaurant, and plenty of street parking both on Webster and residential. The restaurant has adorable French decor, and is always clean and welcoming. My favorite dish is hands down the crab cake Benedict! It's usually my standard brunch here, but I've also tried the French toast and the waffle which were both good. Their beignets are also perfect and they're great to split with the table (eat them warm). Hey Jolie, So came by for the first time the other day. Came during the day so it wasn't too busy though there was still a wait for seats. Cute place. Not as big as it may seem from the outside. Servers are fast, friendly, and do their job well checking in periodically. Beignet - Had to order the Beignet because well, I love Beignets. Yours was a bit different. more softer, not as toasted on the outside. So not perfect, but still good none the less. The quantity was great. Half order was a LOT. I was expecting 4-5 pieces but think there was at least 8-10. Monte Cristo - Delicious. Glad I got to try this one. Side potatoes were good though I always wish there was some garlic/parsley to it :) but that's just me. La Campagne Omellet - So I still can't pronounce this right, but yea that one. Why? because it has avocado and bacon.. which are like green flags that forces me to order it. So i did. The Omellet was good. Not blow your mind good, but I don't know if an omellet can ever be mind blowing. Has anyone experienced that somewhere? Overall, I am glad I got to try you out. Prices are reasonable. Food was good. Cafe Jolie is a cute little New Orleans-esque cafe that adorns many, many options for food and pastries. After my recent trip to New Orleans and trying the infamous Cafe Du Monde beignets, I've been searching all over the bay for something close. For $13.50 they give you so many beignets! But they hardly put any powdered sugar on them, and they are not nearly as fluffy. They were good, but not that great. Maybe I've just been spoiled by New Orleans cooking. They have other delicious pastries as well that I plan to come back and try some day. The ordering takeout process was a bit weird. The girl didn't know I paid through the app and asked me for payment twice -- an honest mistake, so bring your Receipt with you if you did takeout on the Yelp app. I could also tell she had a bit of trouble hearing me, I asked for an Arnold Palmer to go for my friend and she gave me a palmier cookie instead. At the point, I accepted the loss and just nodded along so I could bring the food back to work. I think next time I'll try dining in. This is the 4th time I've ordered them ...and this time they were clearly reused/refried. They were oily and crispy. I know this isn't how they usually are because in the past they've been softer and fluffier. For $18 it's pretty disappointing to not have a fresh order. Enjoyed a delightful morning at Cafe Jolie. Came here with friends from the area. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and told the approximate wait time. There's not a huge waiting area so we opted to window shop for a few minutes and by the time we returned, they were ready for us. The interior is warm and inviting with a charming neighborhood diner sort of feel. The service was prompt and lovely. I ordered a regular coffee, which was strong and came in a beautifully large cup (much appreciated by this caffeine junky!). For my entree, I ordered their Crab Cake Benedict. The crab cakes were delish and rather than the dish having the usual hollandaise, it comes smothered in a chipotle Mornay sauce (flavorful without being overbearing). While the Benedict was savory and delicious, the star of the show, though, was the country style potatoes that come as the side. So many places get this wrong. The potatoes are either undercooked or overcooked and more often than not, completely lacking in flavor. Not at Cafe Jolie! Their country potatoes are peppery and flavorful. They also don't completely overdo it by giving you a huge serving of them. As one of my dining companions said--I'd rather have a moderate serving of flavorful, delicious potatoes than a huge pile of ho-hum ones! Agreed. Instead I went with a lunch dish, the Hangar Steak Sandwich with a side of French Fries. I found my sandwich cooked just the way I like it, the meat was medium rare and juicy and was the right portion. My friend ordered the traditional Eggs Benedict with no frills or fuss, it was good, it made me want to sample the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict the next time I come. Also, thanks to Yelp I realized there was a Mexican Hot Chocolate and it tasted as rich and divinely as I hoped it would taste. All in all it was a great experience at Café Jolie, we were sat in a window-side booth almost immediately and we loved the food and service. My friend recently moved to Union City and we decided to catch up at Cafe Jolie since the parking around here was easier than Berkeley or Oakland. We came on a Sunday around 11am and the wait was 15-20 minutes. The lady who was taking down names was strangely unfriendly... maybe she was having a bad day but whatever. I've been keeping my eye out on this place for a long while now, since last winter i believe and now it's finally open. I came here today with a friend. Cute, clean simply decorated with light blue walls, painting and brown framing, dark brown hardwood floors and tables and chandeliers. It's a small and cute place with a comforting atmosphere. They didn't exactly have a dessert menu so we had to walk towards the front to order. They were also very helpful with any questions i had. We ordered a cappuccino cheese cake and i ordered Mascarpone cup with a layer of raspberry topped with roasted crushed pistachio. We also ordered two cups of tea my friend a white tea and i had dragon green tea. My green tea paired with my Mascarpone very well. The tea was hot enough and they help refilled when we needed more hot water. The flavors of the cappuccino cheesecake were lightly dusted with cocoa powder and a good coffee flavor. Very smooth tasting. The Mascarpone I really enjoyed. The light fluffiness of the Mascarpone, though it smelled lightly of cheese when you ate it, it tasted more like aerated mousse. It was very well made and whipped. With a fresh layer of raspberry and the roasted pistachio. The infused flavors were perfect. I've been in search of a good dessert place and this place is it. With good service, good selection of teas that matches the selection of desserts; also they are very open to suggestions. They also use local fresh and organic ingredients. Cafe Jolie has 1/2 off on their day old danish pastries in a basket on the front counter close to the cash register. I bought ten of them last week for consumption in a different form. One might ask who would even want some hard and dry leftover pastries. Don't knock it when it is baked as a bread pudding. I was fortunate enough to get a recipe for bread pudding and vanilla sauce from Chef Truong at another business, Terrace Cafe at the old State Compensation Insurance Fund building in SF, which has been closed since 9-23-2011. Fair's fair. 9 years ago I did not care for this place. I've been back recently for breakfast and the service and food have both been vastly improved. I had a simple breakfast of eggs, bacon, and potatoes twice, and everything was cooked quite nicely. Great scrambled eggs. Jolie might have the best bacon in Alameda - this a big deal for me as the most popular breakfast spots have awful bacon (exceptions/honorable mentions: Neptune's, Blue Dot). Every Sunday my wife and I drive up from San Jose for breakfast and needless to say-- it's always beyond worth it! Small, cute French cafe boasting some killer choices such as the Monte Cristo Sandwich (my favorite and WAY better than the ones at Disneyland!) and my wife's favorite, the Eggs Benedict.
