Probably the worst service I've ever had in New Orleans. Which is to say I've NEVER had bad service in this great city! I've never been to a colder bar experience. Literally no one was in the bar. When we came in the bar wench was cold, slow, and apparently very bothered by her ONLY clients. We had one drink and left, do not waste your time going there unless you want a terrible experience. Great old style, cocktail bar with delicious food from the connected Omni Hotel. For food, we tried the club sandwich and prime rib po'boy both served with fries. Both sandwiches were plentiful and delicious with hot, perfectly salted fries. Donna, the bartender, was the reason we returned several times during our visit. She's friendly yet no-nonsense style when managing the clientele. Makes great drinks and conversation. She's efficient and attentive. We also had the pleasure of being served by Kevin. Also an engaging, friendly and attentive bartender. Locals were stopping in for drinks and also ordering takeout which is proof of a good environment and tasty food. This is another "Fly by" bar you want to stop & just grab a drink on your way thru the French Quarter. I have said this b4 about bars in the FQ. There are bars for music, bars for dancing, bars for drinking & we also have "fly by" bars. This is just another one. Inside, it's super tiny & cute, plus they make a strong drink & have ice cold beer on tap. Believe it or not, hubby & I were drinkin our way around the Quarter having a great time when all of a sudden I got a cramp (Charlie horse) in my ass right in front of this place. Normally I get a Charlie horse in my leg or calf, but I'm not even kidding, I got one in my ass right in front of this bar. It was so painful it stopped me dead in my tracks & I had to go inside this bar, sit down & get a double gin & tonic. This bar literally helped me with a pain in my ass! The hightop bar stools were comfy, the music was dope & the people watching was so hilarious I laughed so hard I almost fell off my stool. Cozy. Friendly. All you would hope for in a bar, but unexpected in a touristy area like the French Quarter. The bartender took pity on us when one of our dogs made a dash for the bar's air conditioning. Turns out these desert dogs had gotten surprisingly dehydrated on this hot and humid day. He supplied water and interaction with no expectation of compensation. We did buy some bottled water for the road, a small gesture of thanks for the twenty minutes we occupied his time. read more

Donna!! The best bartender in the entire world. I would only come back for her. We spent Christmas Eve here and stayed for hours. She is the greatest. She works the bar alone, helps everyone quickly and efficiently, and even comes up with perfect drink suggestions. She is a wonderful conversationalist. I had a great one because of her. The sangria is not good! Do not attempt it. Donna took it away and made me something better. It's a very small bar. On warmer days the doors stay open so you get the outside air coming in and can people watch. Come here if you are in the area. It will be a fun tune. read more

I will say that it's a shocker that this is the Omni Hotel Bar (you enter from the bar itself on Chartres, however). It's disarmingly inviting, and a total departure from the typical French Quarter bar scene, or what I should say, one expects from the typical French Quarter bar scene, whether that be dodgy/dirty-but-friendly or classic cocktails served up in posh, but slightly dilapidated environs "Touché," right? It's certainly what you'd never ever expect from an Omni hotel bar (the Rib Room which you enter from the Omni lobby is more what you'd expect of an Omni hotel bar). And so, yes, I like it. Your surprise will come once you walk past the more typical bar and see the steps down leading you to that 70s show basement. But don't expect Kitty or Red to interrupt your good times. We had the most awesome most ridiculous time at this bar! We had a full day that included Garden District, Magazine Street, and ended it with a food and cocktail tour. We were pretty much dead from so much during the day so as we finished with the food tour we just strolled around and spotted Touche' which looked like a great place to just unwind and chill. Boy were we right! Awesome little dive bar and just what we needed! We had an absolute blast shooting the shit with other patrons in the bar - we chatted it up with locals and swapped stories with tourists - getting and giving recommendations on stuff to do while in town. The bar is open to the street and we kept waving at passersby pretending that we knew them and got a handful of people to come into the bar (you're welcome for the extra business LOL). We laughed so much this night and chefs from the connecting restaurant kept stopping over to see what all the fun was about! Definitely my kind of neighborhood bar - nestled right in the Quarter but the opposite of Bourbon St craziness... blink and you'll miss it, but definitely park your butt here if you can! read more

I was walking by & suddenly I needed the mens room. I asked to use it, but "it's only for customers". Out of many places, it was the least crowded & after buying a bloody mary, I knew why. For a city known for bloody Mary's, they've got work to do. Small cup, lots of ice & lacked flavor & kick. I would'nt dare buy anything else. That was one expensive bathroom break. After I bought the drink, the bar tender was my friend...we left because I wasnt going to let them ruin my experience of NOLA. Maybe their team was losing, haa. Debbie, the bartender, has been working there for 24 years and lived here all of her life. Debbie gave some good recommendations, great stories, and strong drinks. This spot is great! Nice music, great spot out of the sun, and not shoulder to shoulder packed when we were there. When we come back we will be going there again! read more

As soon as I hit town I dropped my bags off and went looking for a spot in the French Quarter that wasn't too rowdy while I waited on my buddies to land/get off work before we hit up Frenchman street for the night. As I walked around I noted this place was a little empty @ 7pm but had TVs going and a pretty decent bar...that was what I was looking for! I saw one guy inside and asked if they were open and he said yes. The guy inside is Desmond and he pours a pretty good Jim Beam & Ginger. Me and Desmond chatted damn near the whole time I was there...pretty much about traveling and life in general...good dude! I figured I would get a bite to eat while I was sitting and drinking and didn't know how far into the night the upcoming shenanigans were gonna last. I got a Prime Rib Po-Boy which was pretty good and those fries I just couldn't stop eating. As I sat there, more and more people started coming so it wasn't just me for long. The place itself is pretty nice and woody with exposed brick and has a lower level seating area. They also have the windows swung open to let the nice air outside. Good spot and I agree with some of the reviews here when they say Desmond rocks!! read more

Every once in awhile, I wander into someplace in the FQ with friends and think "why have I never been here before?" I don't know why I've never been to Touche before. It's certainly been there since before I was of drinking age. Because OMG that downstairs (basement level in NOLA?!) paneled room...it feels like hanging out in my aunt & uncle's home bar in the 70s. (Don't worry we were only pretending to drink...really.) The evening we stopped in, the bartenders were a bit overwhelmed by the volume of people hanging out for Dirty Linen. But they were hustling and dealing with the drunks easily. Definitely a spot that will go into my rotation for FQ crawls.This is a solid old school bar. Great place for a cold beer and conversation while you are out window shopping Royal Street. Bartender was conversational and attentive to everyone that came through. Although we did not have a Bloody Mary we did try the infused vodka which was fantastically salty goodness. Next time down that's a place we will get one. read more

Touché is a French Quarter hot spot for people watching on Royal Street. With the wide open doors and signature sangria and bloody's, we always stop here on our way to our dining destinations for a pre-drink. Tons of tvs for game watching and old school bartenders and patrons that will always be happy to chat you up. Beware the bloodys are very spicy though so if you can't handle the heat, stay out the kitchen. read more

My husband and I stopped in Touche on a whim, basically passing from one bar to dinner and had some time to spare before our reservations, when I saw a sign advertising sangrias and insisted on stopping. I'm pretty sure this bar is a part of the Omni hotel (so my plastic cup leads me to believe) but it was completely open to Royal Street. I didn't have any experience with the staff, my husband did the ordering but he lead me to believe they weren't the friendliest crew in town but they do make a good sangria! Touche is a small joint but big enough for a couple televisions that we watched a few minutes of football on and then continued our stroll through the quarter. I'd stop again for the a/c & a drink but its not on my must visit list as many quarter bars are, when I visit the city. read more

Bartender is a total douche. We came in for a drink on a quiet Monday 6/5/18) and the bartender acted like we were ruining his night. Not sure if it's bc we're interracial, but he literally frowned and then took a while to take our order, spent about a minute studying my 28-yr-old fiancé's ID (more scowls), put zero alcohol in my Rum and Coke, and then scowled and frowned at us til we left. This is our favorite bar to hang out at when we just want to relax. It has a mellow ambiance and old school feel which we really love. The entire front opens up so you can look out at the street. It has a lower down stairs lounge area with tvs. It's cozy and calm which is a nice break from the craziness of Bourbon Street. read more

I'm going to be in the minority here over one of the bartenders, but here goes. I hung out here quite a bit over about a week just before one Mardi Gras 15 years ago because my friend was a bartender. One of the other bartenders was extremely rude to us when we'd come in - we were about 21 and not their normal clientele, which seemed to be older and richer. I wasn't living in NOLA at the time so I really didn't have much reason to return here but fast forward 15 years and now here I am, a NOLA resident. Over the weekend my husband and I (who was with me on that Mardi Gras trip) were wandering around the French Quarter and decided to check out Touché. It was that same bartender working! Her attitude hadn't changed a bit. It was obvious she thought we were typical French Quarter tourists, but who cares if we were? My husband said he was looking for a place to sit down and she snapped, "You can order at the bar." in a condescending tone, as if we were children and didn't know that. So we go to the bar and my husband said he was going to the bathroom. I ordered a glass of wine but she poured two! We'd only ordered one drink but I guess she assumed he wasn't going to order one and that we only stopped in for the bathroom. He was planning on ordering a drink but we were stuck with an extra glass of wine, which he doesn't even really drink. The other patrons all seemed to be regulars. We sat for a little while and then decided to see if she remembered our friend. She seemed very put off, as she had been talking to the others and now she had to turn her attention to our lowly selves. She had remembered him but that was the extent of the conversation. It didn't make her like us any more. The bar itself is great and would be a place I'd go to a lot since I live here now but this bartender makes me not want to go if she's working (during the day). She acted like we were beneath her and wasting her time. She happened to leave not long after we got there and the next bartender was very nice, however. read more

I can't believe Touche hasn't been on Yelp (until now). I HAD to add this place! It is a quaint little get away bar in the quarter that attaches to the Omni Royal hotel. The reason I love this place? The bloody marys! They use Zing Zang which is one of my favorite mixes and make a true New Orleans bloody mary. If I have to explain what this means, you just don't know. This place has been open since 1960, which blows my mind! I have met many a character in this place on a Sunday jaunt including a famous local lady Ms. Verita Thompson. For those that don't know her, she had an affair with Humphrey Bogart and actually wrote a book about it. In her Chanel suit, high heels, hat and gloves with a whiskey smash in hand she would sit with me and my guy friend and tell us the stories, which were amazing, while we enjoyed our bloodies here on lazy sunday afternoons. Ms. Verita is no longer with us but I will never forget these times. But I digress, it's a great place and you should give it a whirl if you haven't already. read more

This is actually a nice bar that not a lot of people seem to know about. They do some nice drinks here and the service has always been good. The most unique thing about this place is they have a hidden away "basement" on a lower level down some stairs that if you don't look carefully you might easily miss. The "basement" makes this a fantastic place to hide away and enjoy some privacy from all the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter. read more
