OMG. One of the best Vietnamese restaurants around. Comparable to any of the top spots on the West Coast. Not your typical pho joint, they specialize on country style soups such as crab reiu, bun bo hue, a seafood egg noodle, etc. 2 person husband and wife operation. It's in one of the grimiest spots in Philadelphia. Kensington is definitely sketchy so recommend going early in the day, they open 8am but it is definitely for the trip. Their Vietnamese ice coffee was also one of the best I've had

Cash only, no frill. I like. Any business that only accepts cash in this day and age is bold and confident in their craft. I can respect that. Food: - get the Mi Quang Specials. If you're not from Kensington and drive all the way there, you should get the specials and leave the pho ga at your local pho. I'm amazed at how flavorful the broth is, clean taste yet packed with umami. Noodles were cooked to perfection and they added a lot of protein (shrimps, chicken, pork ribs, and cha lua). Personally, i would wash it down with the coconut juice from the fridge. Ambiance: just your typical viet resto. Area is in Kensington. That's all i gotta say. 8.5/10

Was new to this style of noodles, and I was definitely pleased with the result. Went with the quang noodles special. The noodles were delicious, a lovely texture and plentiful. The assortment of meat was very well prepared, including the shrimp, Vietnamese ham, meatballs, pork, and beef-the beef was my favorite. The sauce was flavorful and I was grateful that chili oil was available to supplement it. The space itself can seem a bit cramped. We happened to arrive at a good time when a table fitting our party as available, but it seems like the place would fill quickly so you may not get as lucky. Service was super quick. Overall, definitely worth a trek to the area for.

TLDR: one of my favorite spots in Philly! To be honest, I thought nothing of this unassuming restaurant in Kensington. I came here on recommendation by my Vietnamese friends and I thought that I had already tried all the best noods in Phily, but I was wrong. I've never had Mi Quang before - it's a turmeric chicken or pork broth, wide rice noodles, sesame rice cracker, peanuts, various proteins/meat products and herbs. It was so flavorful and addicting its been a couple weeks since I've been and I want to go back every day. Service is like any other Asian establishment growing up. Direct and quick, but helpful. Overall: try Mi Quang!

Recently visited Cafe Mi Quang and I was impressed! I got the Mi Quang Ga (Chicken), the chicken was seasoned with what tasted like kaffir lime leaves, and the noodle soup was flavorful and authentic. The exterior makes it look like a hole in the wall, the portion size is pretty good, but they have a cash-only policy. The owner and servers are kind. Would recommend and come back the next time I'm in Philadelphia!

Stopped by with a small group of friends to fill our bellies with some warm noodle soup. So glad we stopped by this small family restaurant. It's straight and to the point menu made it really easy for us to figure out what we wanted, and the food came out really quickly. I ordered the Mi Quang with Tom and Thit (shrimp and meat). So good! The broth was so flavorful! I loved the crispy sesame chip dipped in the broth. It added a lovely crunch texture to the meal. The bowls look small, but they were deep, so I ended up taking half of my meal home. The second go round was just as delicious as the first. Also they have a small selection of locally made snacks. Highly recommend a stop through! It hit the spot on a cold day for an affordable price!

The cafe is located on our way for deliveries. Hubby took me here once and I'm hooked. We often try this place as soon as it's open. Flavorful with good amount of serving with generous ingredients! We are def regulars ever since.

This is one of the best Vietnamese places in Philly! Love everything on the menu but if I have to pick a dish, it has to be the Mi Quang. The dish has such a flavorful, unique, and an amazing broth. I never seen this dish elsewhere and I'm happy this place introduce me to this dish! Highly recommend!

You know that feeling when a place is really good and isn't mainstream yet, and you don't want to write a review so it can stay a hole-in-the-wall, hidden gem? That's how I feel about Cafe Mi Quang. So, I'll admit it-- Mi Quang is a pretty new Viet dish to me. I've heard whispers about it, but had never tried it or even seen it on a menu. While doing some serious sleuthing for new and affordable restaurants in the Philly area, I came across Cafe Mi Quang. Immediately after reading some reviews and drooling over pictures, it was bookmarked and I was out the door. The space is small and clean with a handful of 2-4 seater tables. The menu is small, but surprisingly extensive in the types of dishes they serve. My friend and I ordered the Mi Quang Special and the Bun Rieu. The Bun Rieu was the best I've had in a restaurant (not as good as homemade, but is anything?), and the portion was incredibly generous. However, Mi Quang Special was the TRUE STAR. The noodles are wide and tinged yellow from turmeric and they sit in a shallow pool of broth. The noodles come topped with peanuts and a toasted sesame cracker. The quintessential fresh herbs are on the side. The special comes with their really tasty (maybe even brined?) fried chicken, shrimp, pork roll, spare ribs, and maybe some other items that have escaped my mind. The taste of the broth is hard to explain and honestly, just go try it. It's just delicious. The whole dish warms the heart and soul. The perfect meal on that cold and rainy day-- or really, any day. CASH ONLY!!! P.S. My friend and I wanted to go back the very next day...

This is a descent restaurant in philly. Food is pretty good. The restaurant is as small as many other restaurant around. Parking is a big problem coz there is no parking lot but street parking. If you come in the busy day where people take all of the parking lot, you will waste time to find a parking. Another warning is that "this is a cash only place". There were no sign about that until we paid. They said "we take cash only here". Luckily we got some cash with us, otherwise ... Customer service was ok. I would give it 1 more star if I can use my credit card to pay for it. No one carry cash around, especially in the downtown.

I came here on Sunday and it was a beautiful day. There is street parking available. I went with another person and we ordered a Bun Rieu and Mi Quang noodles. It was absolutely delicious! Bun Rieu is a Vietnamese soup of clear stock and rice vermicelli. The Mi Quang noodles consisted of noodles, meat and herbs. The peanut oil definitely made it more tasteful and enjoyable. We did not have to wait long before the food came. I also like the fact that this place is family owned! The restaurant owner is always friendly when he greets us and is quite hilarious - in a good way, of course! Both bowls came out steaming hot the way we liked it. I am especially a fan of the Cha Lua that is included in both bowls. Cha Lua is known as a type of sausage that is made of pork roll. They taste so good and is super fresh! Their calming instrumental Vietnamese music is relaxing and brings back many memories of Home. Their Vietnamese iced coffee with extra condensed milk is also to die for! I also did like the flan, but next time maybe I wouldn't sprinkle coffee on top! Overall, 10/10 and I will always come back here.

This is a very cute Kensington spot-it's not big and the service is basic but friendly. The special pho is excellent.

The biggest surprise was the tái (eye-round steak), yet still retaining that pleasantly chewy texture of undercooked beef; the gầu (fat brisket) was thick and crisp, fragrant but not greasy--who would have thought I'd find brisket fat here? This showed the restaurant's precise control over the broth temperature and the thickness of the beef. Almost all phở restaurants claim to offer authentic raw beef or various cuts of beef, but very few can truly make customers feel the difference. The restaurant's decor is simple but spacious and clean; the service is average, but very efficient. Efficiency is essential for phở, otherwise the beef would be overcooked in the hot broth. After all, the essence of a restaurant is food, and for such affordable ones, it's gratifying to see them spend most of their costs on the food itself.
