This place seems kinda tucked away. Yes there is a bank and fitness center there, but with car wash and laundry mat I did not expect this amazing restaurant. Just a warning it does take a while to get your food, but it is well worth the wait. You can tell there is definitely no microwave in this place. The food comes out nice and hot and it tastes like you went to a Korean friends house for dinner. I have done both takeout and dine in here. I am picky and I know Korean food and I am from SoCal. I eat out all the time and I have super high standards. It's really hard to surprise me and I didn't expect much on Maui to get authentic taste. I went in with super low expectations and I was really impressed. We ordered bulgogi, meat jeon, bibimkooksoo, bibimbop and thukbokgi. The star was bibimkooksoo that the owner recommended. It was spicy, sweet with kimchee in every bite with perfectly cooked noodles. I loved it so much. I never want to finish carbs but it was totally worth it. Bibimbop vegetables were seasoned with lots of flavor and I love that they didn't make the thukbokki super sweet. The owner and his wife does everything from bussing, orders, waitressing and cooking. The food was slow to come but we didn't mind bc it is a small business and the cook didn't rush and made the food with care and attention. We can see how they are doing their best to serve all the customers so I just felt bad they have to work so hard to get the food out. So I would say be patient with these hard working folks. The food is a bit slow to come out and the wait is a bit long but I say it's totally worth the wait. I would eat here everyday if u lived here. read more

Its my first time at Cafe Moon, and the foods was really good. They required reservations and mask during this pandemic, the tables were 6ft distance. You have to order your foods first at the cashier then pay, and they'll show you were you will be sitting. When the food is ready they will bring to your table. Good service. The portion of their foods and price is reasonable. The bathroom is outside the restaurant and you just need to ask the key from them to get in. read more

SOOOO GOOOOD!!! We've been in Maui for almost a month now, and I can't believe we just discovered this gem! We're Koreans from San Jose (tons of Korean restaurants) and this was the best bi bim bop I've ever had. Every item in the dish was fresh, flavorful and the overall presentation was so pretty. My toddler son took one bite of his kalbi and said "mmm! This is very very very bomb!" (Lol) I only wish we tried this place sooner! Can't wait to try the jeon and kimchi fried rice! I just want to preface that my review is base on Korean food available in MAUI. Cafe Moon is run by a couple of Korean sisters and serves authentic Korean dishes(not fusion). This is counter service/take out w/ seating for 20ish. I came in during the "Great Covid-19 Pandemic" so I was forced to get take out. I ordered the Mandoo, Wonja, Bibim Gooksu, and Spicy Pork Ribs. Both the Mandoo and Wonja were "home made". The Mandoo only had 4 pieces but they were twice the size of store bought gyoza and much meatier(Wonja was 5 pieces but also large and meaty). The Bibim Gooksu was beautifully prepared and spicier than what I can usually find in Maui. As far as the Spicy Pork Ribs, they were tender and a little sweeter/less spicy than Moms because they add red bell peppers. Both my mom and I enjoyed all the dishes but she wanted the ribs spicier. My Portagee roommate wanted the Bibim Gooksu less spicy, but thought all the food was great. The mac salad was unspectacular but it also sat in the take out container for the 30min drive home. Here is my take on Cafe Moon. It's the kind of place I'm excited to visit again because I want to try all of their dishes at this point. They are making great efforts, not just on taste but also on presentation. It also seem like they have higher quality control than the other Korean restaurants because they don't have a huge menu(like Tiffanys, Mikos, Asian Cuisine, and Ohana's). Their prices are higher than "Korean cafes" but not out of line with Maui pricing. More importantly, the food is worth the money(you could easily overpay for mediocre/terrible food in Maui). This is the best place on Maui(maybe the only place) to get AUTHENTIC Korean food without going to a full service, Korean restaurant. PRO TIP: Grab some soju or Korean beer at Tamuras liquor store(across the parking lot) Keep in mind Cafe Moon closes at 6pm(10-6 mon-sat) read more

Loved this place! Very cute restaurant located in Kihei. The owner and service was really nice, you order up front and grab a table to eat at. The food was so good! We ordered the bibimbap with bulgogi and a teok boki. Everything was delicious. The teok boki had fish cake and vegetables inside and lots of sauce! And their portions are really big! I really enjoyed my food and can't wait to go again! There was a couple next to us eating a teok boki dish but it wasn't spicy, looked more like a savory so i must try that one day! The bibimbap had so many diff sides and they add this purple cabbage slaw that's tangy and all the flavors mixed so well! read more

If you are looking for nicely-portioned, reasonably-priced and, most importantly, home-made tasty Korean food, you are in luck! The mandoos were big and meaty; the meat jun was juicy and not overly sweet. Don't let the small "mom and pop" shop fools you. Chances are you have most likely tasted some of the food made by the "pop" if you have been around Maui for a while and you just didn't get to know the chefs. This place seemed so great. They don't really explain the food. If you're not Korean it's hard to know what you're ordering. I picked up a little cockiness which isn't fun when going somewhere for the first time. No bathroom. Also the parking lot is empty and the security people came up to our car as we were eating because we took up two spots is the shade in the back of the parking lot. They made us move because they said we had to be parked in one spot. It was stressful so we left. I don't know. The food was pretty good. The Kim chi soup is way too hot. My daughter eats the hottest foods ever and could t eat this. But the experience not so great. read more

On our last trip here after eating all the heavy meals at the big fancy restaurants (Mama's, Merrimans, Spago's...) I was craving some authentic Asian food. When we arrived, I didn't have high expectations. It's a small modest place in a strip mall - clean but nothing fancy about it. Then we had the food (bibimbap, japchae, korean pancake) and everything was SO good! My husband and I are from California and are spoiled with lots of good Korean food and this place literally has the best bibimbap ever! So many different veggies and lots of it and each seasoned to perfection! You just know the lady chef prepared each item lovingly. I felt like I was being fed by my mom. We were looking for the perfect food to eat while in Maui and were driving through kihei. We saw this and gave it a go. Wow. As Koreans, this place is super legit. It's classic comfort with modern tweaks and doesn't lose its Korean soul. We had the cold spicy noodles which are classic for summer but I couldn't believe how good it was. Got my kids the meat jeon expecting what you get from caterers at big parties but this was way different, like bulgogi in an egg batter. Found this place through Yelp when I was about a block away shopping. A block off the main drag in a strip mall with mostly empty store fronts. Walked in and was greeted by the owner who described the different categories of food offered. I ordered the bimimap (sp). Delicious and flavorful strips of well seasoned beef on a mound of fresh and fermented veggies, all topped with an egg. Hubby had the garlic shrimp. The shrimp were huge and well seasoned, served on a bed of fresh cabbage. A bit pricey, but everything was fresh and delicious. Will come again! read more

Great vegetarian options here! The veggie japchae was delicious full of flavor. The sigeumchi namul inside it was flavored and cooked separately, giving more depth. It's one of the best I have had, and I live in the middle of korea town back on mainland! Veggie pancakes were so crispy on the sides with so many types of veggies inside. Soo good! read more
