This little gem is located not far from my job and I had no idea until I looked on Yelp. This is a wonderful Jewish café that has a great vibe and as far as I'm concerned excellent food. I had there Greek salad, Greek panini, authentic Israeli salad, and shepherds salad. The salads are huge and excellent. The dressings are simple and light. Just some olive oil and lemon juice. They do have other dressings if you would prefer them. The Greek panini was insanely good. The bread was fresh and light and had excellent flavor. The panini had sesame seeds which just added another level of flavor. I dined out but if you choose to dine in it is a nice intimate space that is clean. The staff are friendly and ready to serve. Long Story Short: Most bizarre experience of my life, walked out after 15 minutes. Full Story: I used to come here when I ate kosher, they had a delicious sandwich with eggplant. Lately l've been craving it and wanted to take my boyfriend there. So I went yesterday and was utterly shocked at my experience. We came in and were told to sit wherever we would like, it was a Sunday afternoon and there was only two other tables. They had no music playing in the background so it was all awkward silence. There was a young man working and an older woman. The woman came to us and gave us bread and water. We looked at the menu for a while and then closed them and looked up. An obvious sign we were ready to order. The male waiter was across the room looking at all of the occupied tables, and made NO effort to come and take the order. Both of the waiters never came to the table and neither were busy, just walking around the restaurant staring. After telling my boyfriend I wanted to leave and him begging me not to... I got the creamy sandwich, which is essentially two slices of open-faced slightly toasted round seasame bread smeared (kind of like a giant bagel, but softer) with cheese and creamy of mushroom soup. I've eaten here three times and all three times I was very pleased. The food is great and I liked the service. They have this panini there called the Moroccan panini. After I had it the first time I got so many cravings for it I needed to order it again because it's so good and savory even though it doesn't have any meat in it. I kind of think of it as shakshuka in a panini because it's eggs and tomato sauce, except the tomato sauce isn't runny. The panini comes with your choice of salad. Get the Israeli salad. I think it's mostly tomato and onions and cucumbers. For dessert, you must order the chocolate souffle. It's the best dessert I've ever had. Get it with the vanilla ice cream. This is my first time trying Israeli food. I had no idea what to order but based on the pics online, I decided to order the mozzarella with tomato on ciabatta bread with an Israeli salad. The food was delivered in a timely manner. What can I say when I saw the amount of food that I received? Wow! One large panini sandwich cut in two, bread roll with 2 dipping sauces and my salad on the side with 2 different dressings. I was only able to eat half the food and saved the other half for dinner. Wow, I am the first to review a place in NYC of all places! I came here with my buddy Dave and his gf and found this place to be excellent for a Sunday night dinner outing. Anyway, I envision this to be the Israeli version of Hooters (ok ok, minus the short tops and hot pants......got a little carried away) as all the waitress here were gorgeous and match all the characteristics of what I like in a lady. Food servings are quite large, as I sampled an Israeli salad, and shared in two delicious pasta dishes. For the price, you actually get wait you pay for and then some. The only reason that it doesn't get five stars is that the service was a little lacking at times. It took us a while to get a waitress and the people who sat after us received their food first. Service is a little subpar - if you are serving your friends at the other table, make sure they don't act like total douches, and control them! We ordered the baked ziti and the oreganatto to share. That oreganatto...it's not something you'll find everywhere. I used to work at muscat and I can honestly say that they're very organized, VERY CLEAN, and that their food is very fresh. The service there is somewhat delayed at times but the waiters definitely make an honest effort to do their best to be at your beck and call. They always serve water and bread and aioli as soon as you sit down. It's a must and I love that because the last thing you want is to sit there waiting for the waiter with nothing to do. Besides their bread is made on premises and its delicious. The food isn't anything out if the norm but its always fresh and tasty. Their managers do a really good job in ensuring that every plate comes out looking the way it should and that portions are kept upto par. They're not cheap with their portions at all and their salads are all delicious. Their speciality are their Oregannatos. These salads are really the only thing on the menu that is say is out of the norm and delicious. All the Oregannatos taste great and the hot sweet potatoes, asparagus, or bell peppers are the perfect contrast to a room temperature salad and it works very well together. It's also really healthy and chopped small which I love. Their smoothies are amazing. They make the best smoothies. Also, they do a flood job in upholding that Israeli morning atmosphere when you go there for brunch or breakfast. Their morning specials are filling and worth the price for sure. Moreover, I just feel good knowing my eggs are coming out of a clean kitchen. I don't eat eggs in places I don't trust and this place I know is clean to the T. No questions asked. The food is nothing to write home about - it is serviceable but nothing exceptional. The major issue at Muscat is the awful service. I've eaten here on multiple occasions, and each time, had a subpar service experience. From forgetting entrees, to bringing out appetizers about a minute before the main course, to not checking in I see if we needed a water refill or anything with our food. To their credit, they have comp'ed dessert on some of the more egregious occasions, but nevertheless, it's difficult to want to eat somewhere that you know might completely ruin the dining experience with the service. In an effort to be more social since life seems to be moving faster than ever, I have decided to go out more with old friends and family. The first place I started was here Saturday nights at Cafe Muscat always seem like a mistake however our options for Kosher dairy are limited. When we arrived there we weren't surprised. We had the choice of waiting at the door while hovering over peoples tables or just sitting in the car so we chose the ladder. About 30 minutes later they finally had a table for us. It looked like we just walked right in and got a table which seemed to have upset some people. Cafe Muscat decor wise is nice - nothing special but still clean and fairly new. Their seating capacity is small but I think people feel better when a place is "crowded". If you have a crowd larger than 4 expect to wait during their busy hours. The menu is typical of a dairy restaurant, which all somehow seem to serve sushi/sandwiches/and pasta. The ladies got lemonadas which are quite refreshing, it's an israeli drink that is blended lemon, mint, and ice. While they have pasta most of us ordered the Greek Panini. It tasted great but had a little too much feta in it. The portions were large. Another person in our party ordered the Greek Salad which was also quite large and fresh which is always important when eating vegetables. We also got a "fire roll" which was excellent - I would definitely recommend getting the sushi there their specialty rolls are great. As for service - it was normal for any Kosher restaurant - especially when the employees are Israeli. They don't really care about you, they don't openly fill up your water when it's empty like non-kosher restaurants do... pretty much you have to have no expectations and be happy when they do anything other normal waiters and waitresses do. The best part of the night was when we got the check and someone in our group said "I always look at the bills to make sure they don't charge us anything". He gave it a fake glance and gave it to me. Immediately I noticed a "nachos" on the bill that we hadn't ordered. Was it put there on purpose since we were a large group or was it an honest mistake? We will never know, but we got it deducted off the bill! Overall the experience was normal for a kosher restaurant, we will probably end up there on more Saturday nights to come. read more

Lunch for two on a Friday. Service is wonderful and the starter bread + herb butter is delicious! The Caesar salad was watery and the salmon it was topped with needed its own seasoning. The lox + mozz panini needed something wet to moisten the bread (cream cheese?) and the side Israeli salad tasted a day or two old. We usually go to Cafe Muscat because it is quick, relatively inexpensive and dairy and our experiences are usually good. Last night, however, was not a good experience. We were a group of seven seated in the annex part if the restaurant. The waiter could not remember to bring water continuously or the check. Food delivery was slow, although the food was fresh and good (at least for 5 out of 7 of us). We couldn't get wine (in the nine days period prior to Tisha b'Av) and the waiter did not know this. When having their pasta, you will get bored as the flavors are not artfully layered in keeping you interested. Their fries remind me of oily potatoes, lacking any flavor at all. They then have the audacity to charge over $16.00 for a regular sized bowl of pasta and over $11.00 for fries on a average sized plate. Fries are NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY. Prices are high considering the very average venue Cafe Muscat is providing. The service is average to slow, about an 18 minute wait for your food on a less crowded week night. There are many restaurants on Main Street and Union turnpike that offer a similar Italian-Israeli styled experience accompanied by better food and service with a significantly lower price markup. read more

I absolutely love this place. Yes, the tables remind me of a diner or school cafeteria but the vegetarian dishes I have eaten are wonderful. I especially love the "Oreganata" dishes, warm vegetables served over a salad. Last night I had the "Vegetables Oreganata," sautéed asparagus, mushrooms and other vegetables and walnuts topped with sweet potato shoestring fries. Delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. BTW, the Ladies' Room was nice and clean. I must say, though, I like strong coffee but the decaf coffee they served me could have straightened my very curly hair, it was that bitter! After maybe about a year of not coming here my friend had a birthday and so we decided to give it another try. Huge mistake! We ordered a zucchini salad that has feta cheese. The veggies were not fresh and the feta cheese was extremely sour. We also ordered the sea bass fish which was a very small peice that was well undercooked and not fresh also. We also ordered the spinach cheese dip which was basically what appeared to be Alfredo sauce with spinach. The food also takes forever. My date and I stumbled upon this little heaven purely by accident..Thank goodness Crepe 'n Tea was just closing...We decided to give this place a try and boy are we glad we did...I plan to be a regular!!! You MUST try the Dulce de Leche torte, it is really heaven on earth. My eyes literally rolled to the back of my head. Very smooth and tasty. Possibly the best dessert I have ever had in my life...Sorry LULU's Bakery! I also tried the "Malabi" please forgive me for miss-spelling it..this was also very nice, light and fragrant. It's the Israeli version of the coconut flan so easily found in Latin America. However, this custard is white as opposed to the traditional cream colored flan and this one is bathed in a raspberry sauce as opposed to the usual caramel sauce...Also, it's topped with crushed walnuts and fragrant with notes of rose water. Please give this place a shot, the service was amazingly friendly, they have a nice variety of dishes and the atmosphere is date, family, and friend friendly!!! read more
