Super cute and unique coffee shop! Got a cafesito con leche (basically a latte) and it was delicious! The bartender lady was super friendly. Good enough seating and there's outlets by the windows. Only reason for the lacking star is the lack of accessible WiFi :/. they have the TWC / Spectrum hotspot which sucks if you don't have service with them to begin with and it only gives you a free 30 min trial. I do have spectrum service and it still would not log me in, so I'm not sure if it was just an off day for spectrum or a recurring thing. Overs 10/10 for drinks, but don't recommend if you're going to study for more than 30 mins or don't have a spectrum account. read more

My girlfriend surprised me and took me here on a weekday morning after seeing this east Austin shop in a magazine. This place had an interesting breakfast menu mixed with empanadas as well as other great South American inspired pastries. Overall, I thought everything was a little over priced, but the service is great and it was a fun visit. I just got an americano and it wasn't anything special, but they had plenty of other fun coffee drinks that I would like to try next time I go back. This place isn't a great study spot, however has enough seating for you to enjoy your food. read more

This place is so charming. The atmosphere takes me back to my travels in South America where walking into small cafes, I'd feel welcome and right at home. The food is yummy and so are the drinks, but I will say I wish the barista was able to provide a little more info on the type of espresso they use (I'm a huge coffee enthusiast so always ask) and the drinks particularly are a little on the pricey side ($2.50 for ONE shot of espresso is what you'll pay for the cortadito). Overall, it's cute, welcoming, and probably a great place to spend a lazy Saturday morning, but I'd recommend going for the pastries that you probably can't get elsewhere in Austin and then hopping over to another cafe for your coffee. read more

Cafe Nena'i is dangerous. I brought home a heavy box full of pastries to share with my wife. We thought we would just have a few bites, but before we knew it, we had an empty box. I don't think it matters what pastry you choose - they're all delicious. Their empanadas and coffee are great too. AMAZING food. The staff was extremely kind and caring! I'm very picky about empanadas, and so far there has been only one restaurant that I come back to to get them, but after having them here I now have two place with fantastic empanadas!! I will definitely be returning for more - they're addicting! Their COVID-19 precautions are great - a QR code is outside for you to scan and order and then wait outside at their tables. I do wish they would provide the option to order food online ahead of time, because I did have to wait longer because I could only order once I was physically there to scan the QR code. What a delightful surprise this was! I was looking to grab a breakfast and Yelp suggested this place was nearby. A small place, this cute little bakery had some delicious offerings. I had the arepas, which were new to me. Think a biscuit with a corn base, cut open with scrambled eggs, ham and cheese in it. So good! The spinach empanadas have a sweet taste, which I wasn't expecting. Turns out there are a few raisins. The mandarin cake was an amazing snack, and I'll come back for that alone. I stopped in on a Saturday morning for coffee. The place was hoppin' which is great, but also meant that I waited about twenty minutes for a cafe con leche. The coffee was good but I wish there was a clearer sugarless option. I think someone else brought this up in previous reviews and the owners responded that they're used to their coffee strong. I'm used to straight up espresso no milk no sugar, so I can handle strong no sugar. I really want to see this place succeed! Work out a couple of process kinks, add a couple of obvious sugar free caffeine options and I think they'd be golden. read more

The first time I came here, I was trying to woo my friend with my foodie prowess. Needless to say, my friend think I'm the queen of local eats and the baddest B out there. The owners are the sweetest mom/kid goals and makes me wanna call back home. The cafe is kinda small, and has limited seating indoors and outdoors. It's more of a stop and go, but there is a bar to get some work done and seats and coffee tables to do some chit chatting. My favorite on the menu is the jamon y queso empanada, but their desserts and close seconds as well! And something about their cafe con leche is addictive. I took one sip and immediately had to have more. It's realllly good. Lots of parking on the other side of the strip center, and credit cards accepted! read more

Yelp, you really let me down on this one! We are rarely in this part of town, so we wanted to make lunch count. Lunch at Cafe Nena'i was a lunch we wish we had spent elsewhere. Don't bother looking at the menu. They won't have any of those items. Ask what they have. Four or five empanadas are listed on the menu, but they didn't have any of them when we went (early Saturday afternoon). (Hint to owner: draw a line through those items on the chalkboard so customers like us don't spend five minutes deciding and getting their hopes up). They had two off-menu empanadas available, so those are what I got. Spinach and ham/cheese. The empanadas were ok, but not worth the price. $4 each (think two bites and you're done) should get you something more than "small and bland." We got a big slice of "lemon cake" that looked great, but it turned out to be dry bread with a hint of lemon flavor. Come to think of it, everything we got tasted like it was from the day-old section of a fly-by-night bakery. I wanted a coffee; the closest thing they had was espresso with sugar. So that's what I ordered. I requested "very little sugar," and it came out candy-sweet. Ambiance? The inside is tiny and the hard surfaces amplify everything. This place is LOUD. For seating you have the choice of metal stools inside or awkward, tiny tables outside, so we sat at one of the tiny tables outside (seriously, the plant on the table takes up about half of the surface area). I'm chalking these good reviews up to the possibility that this place is completely different every other day. I'll be sure to update on my next visit. But having spent $30 for lunch (for two) and left unsatisfied, I'm not eager to give them another chance. read more

I grew up in Paraguay so I was super excited to hear about a new cafe owned by Paraguayans here in Austin. I'm even more happy now because I tried a few items from the menu and everything was great. Really good empanadas, the "bollo de dulce leche" was fantastic (kind of like a Berliner or beignet filled with caramel cream). I recommend you try the "cocido con leche", this is a mate tea drink with milk and sugar, delicious and really reminded me of Paraguay. The environment in the cafe is really nice and the owners are the best, super nice, friendly people. I'll be back really soon because the milanesa sándwich (South American chicken fried steak sandwich) is calling me. read more
