There are still plenty of celebrity chefs and name-brand restaurants, but a lot of them have lost a little of their shine. Or maybe I've just changed. Either way, I've officially started looking off the Strip. This spot came highly recommended by my fellow Yelpers and it didn't disappoint. When we walked in around noon, it was empty, which made me hesitate for a second. But the server was friendly, the place was clean, and the vibe reminded me of old-school Latino restaurants in NYC. Comfortable, no frills, and welcoming. We started with yuca fries because obviously. We weren't in the mood for anything heavy, so we ordered seafood, mariscos saltado and a quarter chicken. Everything was really good. The sauces were a standout, especially the aji verde, house sauce, and huancaína. The yuca fries were perfectly addictive. A little pricey at $15 for a handful, but tasty. The mariscos saltado was $26 and a HUGE portion. As many of you know, Peruvian food has strong Chinese influences and saltado is that classic stir-fried, savory combo. The fish was soft and the seafood wasn't fancy but it was tender and well cooked. The chicken was super flavorful and juicy. The vibe here is casual and neighborly. The kind of place you'd come back to again and again. If I lived in Vegas, I'd definitely be here often.

If you're also the only tourist while everyone else clearly knows exactly what they're doing, that's confirmation. This is the kind of place locals keep to themselves. Alpacas and me have something in common. We both show up cute and ready to mingle... and then the food hits the table and suddenly it's every alpaca for themselves. No eye contact, no conversation, just full commitment to the plate. The food is excellent. High quality, bold, and generous. The portions come out like full platters, not skimpy little plates. It's not cheap, not expensive, just right, and you actually feel like you got your money's worth. Both my friend and I ordered the lomo saltado, and for me, that's the standout. New York strip steak, very tender, no gristle, cooked properly. Big portion, full of flavor, and exactly what you want when you order it. This place doesn't try to impress you. It just serves really good, very authentic food and lets that do all the talking.

It's very frustrating to be told 30 minutes, arrive on time, and then have to wait almost an extra hour. On top of that, the quality of the fried rice has declined significantly, and the portions have gotten noticeably smaller. It's disappointing because this place used to be really good. We used to recommend it to all our family and friends when they first opened, but unfortunately, things have changed a lot. At this point, I think it's time for us to start going somewhere else.

Ah Peru Chicken. Things were looking good overall until I got back to the hotel…read more Service: Not the friendliest bunch of people to be found in Vegas. If you speak Spanish, you will probably have a better experience than I did. They seemed to be extremely helpful to those who did. If you didn't, not so much. That's okay. I can deal with that. Food: Their chicken is really moist and flavorful. If I was only rating their food, they would do quite well. The plantains were also excellent. If all I cared about was food, you'd be looking at 5 stars easily. The fact that they carry Inca Cola is a plus as well. Some of the best soda available. My wife and I split a 1/2 chicken plate with frijoles. The beans are nicely prepared and flavorful. The rice is plain but goes well with the beans and chicken. The score killer: When you order a combination takeout plate that includes rice and beans, it's generally safe to assume the customer isn't planning on eating it with their FINGERS. We get back to hotel to find these Einsteins didn't bother to include utensils. Too busy chatting with their other customers to take care of our order correctly apparently. I normally take some plastic utensils in my luggage but we brought a larger suitcase this trip so we could combine our belongings into one. Needless to say, we had an interesting time finishing our lunch. Incompetence like this is extremely difficult to overlook. Would I return? Maybe. The food is quite good but this really pissed me off. Even if I return and complain, I doubt they'd actually give a hoot. I would just make sure to check my bag next time if I decide to return or just make sure to pack utensils to avoid another occurrence like this one. What a pain!

Peru Chicken -- Authentic Peruvian Food By Ted Cucuro, Las…read moreVegas Nevada AI News, Hospitality Correspondent If your looking for a true taste of Peru-- the kind that feels like stepping straight into a family's cherished kitchen -- this fourth-generation, family-owned Peruvian restaurant is exactly where your compass should point. Every visit reminds me why I keep coming back: here, tradition isn't just preserved; it's honored in every dish, every detail, and every warm interaction. From the moment you step inside, the family's heritage surrounds you. Beautiful wall photos of their most iconic plates set the tone, and the staff--genuinely friendly and wonderfully patient, are always eager to guide you through Peru's bold and comforting flavors. They're the kind of people who make you feel like a welcome guest, not just a customer. Main Course Highlights: Half Chicken with Rice & Salad, This is the dish that keeps regulars loyal. The half chicken, roasted to a perfect internal temperature of 170 degrees, is a masterclass in family tradition. Tender, unbelievably juicy, and crowned with that irresistible cracking golden skin, it's the kind of plate that makes you slow down and savor every bite. Paired with fluffy rice and a crisp, refreshing salad, it's simply perfection--no shortcuts, no gimmicks, just generations of culinary wisdom passed from grandmother onward. A cornerstone of Peruvian cuisine and one of my absolute favorites: their Lomo Saltado, bursts with flavor: wok-seared steak strips tossed with onions, tomatoes, all kissed by that signature Peruvian seasoning that balances comfort and excitement in one plate. The aroma alone is enough to make your mouth water. This is the dish that shows just how skilled this family is--bold, soulful, and deeply satisfying. Served with fries and rice. Appetizer: Anticuchos, a true Peruvian classic, and they execute it beautifully. Tender marinated beef heart--smoky, seasoned just right, threaded on skewers and grilled until beautifully charred. It's a dish full of character, and here, it tastes like it comes straight from Lima's street stalls. Dessert: Picarones, light, sweet, and addictive. These Peruvian-style doughnuts, made from squash and sweet potato, come fried to golden perfection and drenched in spiced syrup. It's the dessert that ends the meal with a smile, and makes you consider ordering a second batch for the road. Drink: Inca Kola-- "The Golden Kola" No Peruvian meal is complete without sipping on this bubbly, bright, almost floral soda. It's sweet, vibrant, and uniquely Peru. If you haven't tried it yet, prepare for a new favorite. Whether you choose to dine in, carry out, or use their catering services, this restaurant delivers warmth, authenticity, and generations of flavor every time. It's family-oriented, full of heart, and run by people who clearly love what they do-- and it shows. This is more than a meal. It's a Peruvian family's legacy served with pride. And fortunate for us, they're sharing it with Las Vegas, one delicious plate at a time.
