Staff was friendly I will say that. I ordered the two enchiladas with rice and beans.. the tortillas were so hard couldn't cut through with a knife. The one little scoop of pinto beans were so dry and the rice was uncooked and hard still! My husband got the burrito bowl, again rice uncooked grilled chicken was dry and like jerky!! Ordered salads from Cafe Rio. The salad dressings were mixed up on the wrong salad. Easy to fix once we figured it out. The food was ok. We ordered limes and they were atrocious. Ummm this is the second my husband has gone in to get us food. Don't expect anyone to greet you or even look at you, they will just be on their phones and glance at you until they are done sending a text....my husband stood there for a solid 3 minutes before someone said "can I help you" he ordered me a salad, and he ordered a burrito and why it took so long certainly doesn't make sense to me, but there was no rush so that isn't something I'll complain about, my husband had better customer service AS THE CUSTOMER, like why they were rude to him beats me. How long do I have to wait for a Togo? Long enough for 20 plus people to get their order before I get mine and they order after me. Been here almost an hour for two door dash orders. The people who order their food Togo should be the same priority as any other customer and shouldn't have to wait this long. Horrible. I've been 3 times to this location. The first time was over a year ago and they were pretty slow but wasn't unbearable. The 2nd visit it took 25 minutes to make nachos, that they made wrong. Then the 3rd visit, which was a couple weeks ago, I didn't even get past the drive thru because they would not show up to the speaker! I drove by 3 different times and sat there waiting about 10 minutes and nobody came to take my order. It's called fast food. Not sit and wait until I feel like working. Definitely need to hire a whole new staff that knows hospitality and time management. I will not be returning to this location ever again. read more

Just tried this Cafe Rio location for the first time. I hadn't done a thorough scan of the prior reviews for this location, but went ahead and ordered a salad that I picked up through the drive-thru window. When I got the food home to share with my wife, we were a little surprised at the lack of toppings as compared with other Cafe Rio's we've tried. The rice was also hard and undercooked. As I'm writing this review, I've since looked at several of the most recent reviews and found similar sentiments that the salads are weak on toppings/protein, and even that the rice is at times not prepared well. Guess I should've looked in advance. I hope they make the changes necessary. read more

I hate doing this and adding yet another bad review. I am not sure what is up with the location but every time my food has been inconsistent. I would especially not order to go food because that's a whole other gamble. It's really to bad because I have been going to Cafe Rio for over 25 years back in Utah. We have always loved their food but for some reason whether it's flavor or inconsistent service just isn't the same. I went in there today for a burrito. And the young guy had a total attitude, and was only making the burrito his way. I asked for sour cream inside, and he said it will be on the side. If this wasn't the few options to eat in Kuna I definitely would never come back I love Cafe Rio and try to get it on my way home instead of coming this location I come to this location about twice a week I am never greeted when I come in and it usually takes a few mins for someone to come and get my order no one seems to be helping out the line even though there are 5-6 employees in the store so it's usually up to the one person to fill orders I love the grilled steak but will settle for the grilled chicken if I need to but they are usually never available and I have to wait when I visited today I asked for Steak and was told they did not have any because "no one got around to it" I would definitely recommend coming in to watch them make your food and only for lunch every time I come for dinner the portions are terrible because they run out of prep and decide not to make any more on my last visit I got no tortilla strips on my salad because they are all out for the night 2 hours before close It makes me sad that this location has disappointed me on every single visit and I only return because it's the only location in Kuna I hope ownership can see the reviews and put some more training into the crew and management to give the customers a better experience when they visit this location until then I'll be avoiding this location for awhile read more

We live in the Kuna area and keep trying this location as we love the chain, but this location is NOT good time after time. It just doesn't compare with the other locations in the valley. The salad was so bad, lettuce was shredded and not in big pieces and was not crisp. I ended up just throwing it away. Today, in my order the rice was still crunchy and not fully cooked! My husband and I went in after eating at a Café Rion this summer in Montana. That was a great experience. But, NOT at the Kuna location. Lots of employees and two guys manning the food. The first guy throws our tortillas down before listening to our actual order. My husband got a quesadilla and he wanted some pico on the inside. But, he folded it so he got it on the side. No big deal. Then, I ordered two tacos. One beef and one chicken. He threw the smallest amount of cheese down and mixed the meats. Completely overlooked my tacos. The flour shells were hard and brittle. I had asked for more cheese and said I'd be happy to pay extra and he literally used 3 fingers to barely sprinkle anymore on. The kid at the salsa bar had no help and had to run to get cilantro carrying my food with him. He tried. We bought a quesadilla, a two taco plate and a small chips and queso and one fountain drink for 29.00 of wasted over cooked food. The queso was also lukewarm with a funky film on it. I visited the Café Rio in Kuna, Idaho and left feeling disappointed and unhappy with my experience. For starters, I wanted to try the Fire-Grilled Steak on a burrito. When I asked for a steak burrito, I was told that there was not any steak available because it had not been cooked yet. I was also told the grilled chicken was not ready, but could be reheated if I wanted it. I don't understand why they were not available. If it's on the menu and it hasn't just run out, shouldn't it be available? My visit was at 11 am and well before any lunch rush. The person at the register had zero personality and was not very friendly. The spoon container was empty when I looked for a spoon to eat with. When I tried to find a table to sit at, they were ALL dirty & filthy, covered with spilled food items, cheese, sauce, spilled soda, etc. The floors were exceptionally dirty with food and trash on the ground and under tables. It was as if someone had a party in the restaurant just before closing the night before and left it for the morning crew, who in turn left it for the customers. The soda machine was empty and dispensing clear liquid instead of coke. I let an employee know and was told that it would be fixed. After waiting for a while, I went back up to get some coke. It was still dispensing a clear liquid and apparently hadn't been taken care of. At this point, I'd had enough and left the store. From a customer's point of view, I felt let down and unsatisfied. From a professional view, it was completely unacceptable. All these items should have been addressed before close the night before and especially before opening the doors in the morning. I don't know if staffing was an issue or if standards are just lower at this location than others I have visited in the valley. Regardless, I'll think twice before recommending or visiting again. I wish I would have read other reviews before choosing this location. I also participated in the survey on my receipt and asked to be contacted. I haven't heard a word in 3 weeks! The Kuna Cafe Rio is the worst one I have ever been to. And I LOVE Cafe Rio. The service is slow if you are even lucky enough to have someone serve you. Always look at the meat choices before ordering because they are either out of what you want or the grilled choices are so withered up and dry that they have turned into jerky. I have stopped ordering the queso because it is either burned or the cheese isn't even melted and so it is chunky. I don't know why this one is so much worse than all the others I have been to. read more

Okay, we eat at Cafe Rio in Kuna once a week however this was our last time. I wrote to corporate Cafe Rio about two months ago about how dirty the restaurant is and that they were always out of common items. They never got back to me however I noticed some improvement, slowly but surely it's back to being a dirty restaurant with items such as the hard to get yellow cheese and pinto beans out of stock. I know times are tuff but something tells me it's poor management. The counters were filthy with left over morsels of food and sauce, the front hood was filthy. So, this Cafe Rio will no longer be a restaurant we visit and hope someone can figure this out before the health department closes it down. I keep visiting because I like the restaurant chain and there aren't a ton of options in this area. I keep being disappointed. Walk into most Café Rios, and you can expect to see a long line that moves very quickly. I've experienced the opposite of both at the Kuna restaurant. Whatever the reasons, two words that come to mind with this place are slow and dysfunctional. They regularly appear unequipped or unable to efficiently process orders at the counter, which often grinds things to a slow down or a complete halt. Whatever the cause, it's been a continually aggravating dine-in experience that feels different than other Cafe Rios I've visited. There's demand for good, local restaurants, and it would be nice to see them pull it together. If Cafe Rio has a corporate team of expert trainers or trouble shooters--I hope it finds its way to Kuna ASAP. read more

This is regarding the Kuna location specifically. I haven't left a review on a restaurant before, much less a bad one! However I wanted to bring some concerns to the attention of those who can address it. I don't come to the kuna location often, perhaps 3 times in the last year, including this evening. The biggest frustration is the consistent lack of ingredients included in your meal. For context, I have visited the Franklin/boise location an equal amount of times and each time I order their salad, it comes with a healthy and reasonable serving of protein and rice with a reasonable amount of lettuce. Balanced and delicious! The kuna location has consistently placed the absolute bare minimum ingredients in their salad bowl. I have begun to order double protein just to have more than 2 bites worth in the salad, which is buried at the bottom of the bowl so you don't know what you got until you dump out the 6 cups of lettuce on top. This evening, I did the same double protein in my order and when I got home, I had ONE piece of pork in the entire salad, barely bigger than my forkful (and this is not exaggerating because I scooped it out to show my husband in disbelief). There was a half cup of rice, (I measured), and I had 6 cups of lettuce on top with at least a cup of cilantro. The cilantro was yellow and heavily browned/some black and clearly not something you would want to eat. I also ordered chips and nacho cheese, the nacho cheese cup came 1/4 full. It was $8. I honestly was trying to understand if they gave me a used nacho cheese cup because I would expect the small cup to be full for that cost. I genuinely feel bad leaving a harsh review for a local business, but it's getting ridiculous that I am paying $35 for an order and getting less than half of what I paid for? I will say, If you decide to go to the kuna location, I highly recommend ordering INSIDE the restaurant where they make it in front of you because that was the only time we felt we got what we paid for (again, specifically the kuna location). The food usually tastes fine, but it's starting to feel intentional when the receipt says double protein and I can only locate one fork sized piece of pork in the entirely poorly made salad. I wish I would have taken a picture to add to this for proof. Hopefully this can get the attention of the owner/manager before this location gets too bad of a rap! I see other reviews that are less positive as well. If they can fix the quality/quantity issue it would be a great place to eat! read more

They smothered the burritos with too much sauce making them soggy and with our beef and black bean burritos there's was almost no meat and all bean. Was not at all impressed with this place. I'd recommend Taco Bell across the street over this joke of a joint. read more

If you ever decide you want the worst food, feel free to eat here. First off, my wife ordered our food on line at 8pm. The order said it would be done by 8:15. She went down to pick it up, only to wait another 45mins. The cook who made the food, i guess was the only cook making food. By the time he finished the food everything was absolutely cold. The order was wrong.The guacamole couldn't even tell it was guacamole. The crazy part was there was other people in the restaurant that were complaining about the same issues. When I received my order, my soda was only filled half of the way, the enchilada was cold, and the beans and rice were missing. I called the store (calmly) and was hung up on. they take forever all the time. i door dash and every single time i come to pick up the order, i stand there for 15 minutes before anyone acknowledges my presence, even if there are no other customers in the store. and after the 15 minutes i've already been waiting they tell me it'll be another 10-20 minutes sorry. the manager is rude, they're very slow. this place is horrible. my mom came in to order lunch, she also stood waiting to order for at least ten minutes with no other customers in line and she eventually just left because they ignored her. read more
