I have been going here for lunch since it opened. Food is always fantastic. Service can be spotty. They have experimented with a few different styles of serving - counter order, order at the table etc. Seems like they are getting it down but need more "polish" . One example: I do not like my flatware placed on a bare table when it is going to be in my mouth. When taking away my salad plate the waitress grabbed my fork with her hand and sat it on the table for me to use for my next course. She then acted very put out when I asked for new, clean flatware. This and a few other wait staff issues keep me from giving more stars. But the food really is great!! read more

I looove Cafe Roma!! I work in the same office complex where it is located. It is so convenient and easy to grab lunch there! The food is fantastic, and very authentic Italian. One of my biggest pet peeves is what I call "fake italian" food, and theirs is the furthest thing from fake. Their pizza is my favorite, and the lunch special includes a small salad and a drink for $7 or $8!! If you are in the area, give them a try. read more

The food is excellent here. I went here on a business lunch and the menu was simple yet had a nice selection of choices. The restaurant is almost a hybrid between a sit down and a carry out, but the servers serve you the drinks. They lose one star because they need to perfect their service in terms of drinks. I have never been to this restaurant but I work at McGrath Honda and we all order from there several times a week. Owner drops off food sometimes himself and is a very nice guy. The soups are out of this world. The Soup Nazi himself would be amazed. Red Thai Curry, Green Thai Curry, Crab Bisque, Shrimp Gumbo, Beef Barley, and Chicken Dumpling are some of the best soups I have had the pleasure to enjoy. The chicken Cesar wrap is made using a thicker dough wrap (almost like pizza dough) and is really great. Chicken pesto wrap also great but comes cold (I always ask to make mine hot). Pizza is also great. If you are in Elgin, stop by and eat at this place. read more

I've eaten here twice and got pasta both times. The first time was in the summer for lunch and everything was absolutely phenomenal. The pasta was al dente and perfect. The second time was for dinner and I was only sort of impressed. The service was slow and the pasta was overcooked and mushy. This is by far my favorite Italian restaurants. The staff is extremely friendly. The service, even on a busy day, is always phenomenal. The atmosphere of this place is so open and welcoming. It's a restaurant where you can take your family, first date, or friends. The owners are always present here and their dedication to Cafe Roma is not only inspiring but makes you want to come back. Small little place tucked away in what is essentially an office/industrial park. I eat here for lunch at least twice every week. I've been watching the carbs so often I get just soup & salad...leaving the pasta dishes alone unless I have to have it now and then. Their soups are fantastic and they post their soup schedule each month on their website. I've had all their sauces and they are excelllent. Prices are reasonable and for the most part you can get a great lunch for about 10 bucks. Everyone should have lunch here at least once a week! Oh...and their pizza is pretty darn good. I have been to Cafe Roma many times and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. (I have not been there for a few months.) Tonight, however, my husband and I had a very different experience. The service was so extremely slow it just ruined what was to be a nice celebration. The meal took over 2 1/2 hours! The food, however, was excellent. So, it's a mixed review. Hopefully, this night will be the exception and the next time the service will match the fine food. read more

While Café Roma is tucked in away (near Randall Rd. and 90), it was well worth the trip. They close at 9:00 PM and we arrived at 8:20 PM. We were trying to be mindful and not end up staying past their closing time. They did not rush us at all. The service was very good. We ordered the Padrone pizza. Cafe Roma in Elgin is delicious! Went there last night for the first time and had a great experience. Carla was a great server, food was perfect! We had pasta in vodka sauce and pasta with meatballs and sausage. Everything was great! I wanted to support a local business to supply a high carb meal for our girls soccer team that came into the Crystal Lake Tournament. We had 22 people including the girls parents and family members. Café Roma arrived on time with 3 hot dishes; large salad; garlic bread; grilled veggies; utensils etc. It was just what we needed for the evening. All the items especially the grilled veggies were awesome. The only item that was not warm was the garlic bread. I am sure it was due to time, since it got cold & hard due to the delivery. Would give negative stars if possible. Came here yesterday for lunch with a group. It was our first time eating here. Ordered a chicken Cesar wrap and was violently ill for the next 24 hours, most likely food poisoning since it was the last thing I ate that day. I called to inform management and spoke with the owner who was incredibly nonchalant with my concern that other customers might be eating contaminated food. Owner offered no resolution and was very defensive, saying the restaurant will take no action since I was the only person to call reporting food poisoning. It doesnt take much for food contamination to occur. Open food containers, improper storage, improper cooking, etc. A number of things could factor into food becoming contaminated. The fact that this establishments OWNER would not pull the menu item ingredients off their shelves is astonishingly vile. DO NOT EAT HERE. The owner has no concern for their customer's wellbeing or continued business. read more

Café Roma is an amazing restaurant for lunch, dinner and good company. This restaurant is located close to my place of employment and is convenient for lunch with my co-workers. Café Roma is comfortable for business, pleasure and relaxation. After going there with co-workers for lunch I decided to bring some friends for dinner and they were absolutely amazed. It has become one of our favorite places to go for girl's night. The staff at Café Roma is just amazing. The owners Frank and Jenny are great and the other staff Eric, Nevin and Noah makes the meals just right. I'm in a quandary. A few days ago my wife and I visited this restaurant after reading the very positive reviews. We noted on their website that one of their offerings was beef wellington which has always been one of my favorites. After experiencing the wellington I now find myself torn as to whether to have a go at another menu item or have one of the best meals available and stick to the known beef wellington. I strongly urge anyone who enjoys a good steak to try the wellington. I do not believe you will be disappointed. read more

I took my wife and kids here the other day for the first time. The atmosphere was great. I appreciate that although you are in an office building, it is not stuffy inside. We heard upbeat music on the radio which was quite refreshing. It's pretty tiring hearing Nino Rota at every Italian restaurant you go to. The waitress was kind to our family and was attentive to us. What an unexpected treat this place was! I live in the area and have seen the signs but could never figure out where the place was. Went for lunch with girlfriends and it was awesome! We all ordered sandwiches or wraps and everything at the table looked delicious. I had the eggplant parm sandwich and it was so good. Thick slices of eggplant in a tasty marinara on a soft roll. The side salad had a fantastic light dressing. Others ordered wraps which were wrapped in pizza skins which was such a neat twist. Can't wait to go back and try more stuff! read more
