We did takeout from here at work today... so yummy. Vietnamese is one of my favorites so I was really excited to try a new place. I had the wonton egg nooodle soup.... oh my god. Even as a to go dish it was delicious. They give you the broth separate from the noodles, wontons, meat and veggies which I really liked. You can then mix the ingredients together yourself. I really enjoyed the flavor and it was a large portion. I also tried the banh mi with pork for the first time. So tasty and super cheap. $4 for a whole sandwich. What? I highly recommend this place and don't be hesitant to do takeout. read more

I like the food here. It is one of the best Viet restaurant around Northeast Philly. However, the only reason I give 3 stars is because I found out they ripped off people with what they claimed is "tax". If you pay CASH for either eat in or take out then you dont have to pay tax! The mother of all Vietnamese food. This place is AMAZING. I haven't had the chance to try their banh mi, but I have tried their pork chop over broken rice with a fried egg, & it is delicious. A great portion, and the pork chop wasn't burnt around the edges like some places tend to do. Their iced coffee is also the best iced coffee I've ever had. This has been our go to spot when going to lunch! iT's your typical vietnamese restaurant with pho, noodle dishes and banh mi. My favorite is the #42, which is a cold noodle bowl with roast pork, pickled pork, bbq pork, a crispy sring roll and pickled veggies. it's literally everything I'd put in a noodle bowl if i had the choice. I love this place. They offer Vietnamese foods that my mom don't always cook for me because it's time-consuming and partially because she's lazy. lol. Sometimes the place is so packed and that's my only problem I have with this place. Someone I knew suggested that it was the best Banh Mi in the area (It might be, who knows... The only reason I didn't give the 5 star is the place is not the cleanest place out there, it gets very busy, so they really do a poor job on cleaning the table, floor, or their sauce trays. Put these aside, the food is very delicious, they don't have traditional pho, but is specializing on all kinds of specialized noodle soups, such as beef, seafood, chicken, shrimps, or Bon Bo Hue. I give them a 2 star only because I found a roach in my soup before. I love the food, but the same cannot be said about their upkeep on cleanliness. Hopefully they've changed, but they do make really good viet hoagies, grilled garlic chicken, wonton soup and other things as well read more

I've been eating here for at least 10 years and never been disappointed. I guess I'm there at least 1-2 times a month for eating there and another 1-2 times for take out. Hoagie best in the city including 12th & Washington Sts in Phila. Wish I could read the "specials" and try them. Soups have "real" flavor, not the artificial store bought "base" taste. I went to the Pho 75, located directly next door to Cafe Saigon, a few weeks ago (delicious by the way) and saw this place tucked into the corner of the strip mall. After reading some reviews on here, I decided to give it a try. I got the #2, charbroiled pork Banh Mi with various pickled and fresh vegetables, the Special #1, pork spring rolls, and a cup of rainbow tea. All three were absolutely delicious, and I will definitely be going back soon. The cuts of meat on the Banh Mi were choice and cooked perfectly. The pickled vegetables were, for the most part, a bit weak tasting, but they didn't overpower that delicious broiled pork taste, so I didn't mind. The french bread used in these sandwiches was tasty and went well with the rest of the pieces of the sandwich. The spring rolls were of average quality, I haven't necessarily had better or worse rolls from shops in Philly, but I enjoyed them. The rainbow tea, however, was an experience. I had no idea what the heck this was, but someone on here recommended it and I am glad I picked one up. This was my favorite part of the meal. A textural medley suspended in a freaking addicting sweet cream reminiscent of coconut milk. read more

After having a not so great experience one time at this place, I'm glad to report its just a one time thing and that their banhmi is better. Almost as good as my fav place QT in Chinatown, but this one is a close second after trying it for a second time. The one with the roast pork is my absolutely favorite. I have to hand it to humble proprietors of this place. We descended on them with a large crowd of 12, without warning an hour before closing. They were very nice and pulled together a few tables for us, and brought us all hot tea and ice water. They patiently waited while we amassed our entire group then let us order a huge amount of food. The food came out pretty quick and other than a few stumbles on our part of forgetting the numbers of which dish who ordered we all got our correct food in the end. I had the char-grilled chicken lemongrass with vermicelli and it was good. The chicken was moist, the greens were fresh but I would have liked a little more lemongrass flavor but it was still tasty. The general consensus was that all the food was good. Once again I have to give props to the staff for keeping the place open while we ate and chatted and even made some take out hoagies for several members of the group. I will definitely stop back in when I am up that way, because for a $3 hoagie and other cheap dishes how can you not? read more

I am an African American woman and after walking in and having the man behind the counter roll his eyes at me 2 times in in a matter of 10 seconds, I thought probably not a good place to eat. Today I decided to stop in here to grab an ice coffee and a Vietnamese hoagie. I been coming here since I was a little girl. As I drove away, I drank my ice coffee. It was disguising, it was super sweet. The coffee taste like a day old coffee. So when I got home, I decided to call them to let them know. I spoke to the gentleman on the phone who said he was the manager. I explain to him that the ice coffee was bad. He told me that the coffee is the same everyday. Hands down the best vietnamese food in all of Philadelphia. I've been all over philly for vietnamese food having grown up here. Almost every food here is a hit. Amazing hoagies, succulent pork chops, and my all time favorite, bo luc lac. It's translated as shaken beef cubes? You must try it if you ever go here and are in the mood for beef! I am not the type of person to write reviews about a place. But this place is ridiculous, I have been going to them for over a year. Don't get me wrong the food is great especially their grilled beef hoagie and spicy noodle beef soup. The last 3 months have been a nightmare dealing with this place whenever we eat in or for take out. First of, they use to not charge you with tax if you pay cash. Now they are coming up with an excuse that if you buy something from the kitchen there is a tax even if you pay in cash. Does that make sense? It's either you do or you don't. Second, they really need someone who speaks English to take phone orders, if you own a business you also got to cater to the people who don't speak your language. This is why orders get messed up. This is the issue that I have, I ordered my food over the phone. Spoke with an older lady and instead of listening to me repeat my order and her repeating it as well all she kept saying was "yeah, yeah,yeah". I understand that most Asian place are unprofessional but come on now. When I went to pick it up, I paid for it first because of course you know they are quick to charge you and get you out of the place. I waited for my food. Something told me to check my food before I leave and what do you know my order wasn't correct. When I told them it was the wrong item. An older man (who wears glasses) tells me "well it's not our fault, that's your fault for ordering the wrong thing). Ordered the wrong thing? My come back, have someone who speaks English so orders don't get messed up. The nerve on these people.... NEVER AGAIN I would step foot in this place. I will let all my family and friends know as well. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Instead of taking the lose of $8.50 to satisfy a client who they know as well (because I go in there with my family almost 2x a month) they want to treat me like this.
