The culture of service at this restaurant is poor. I had an out of town visitor and was looking for a nice place to take her for a fun Friday night and it was a disaster. We arrived at the restaurant, we were seated and it was about 15 minutes before we were ever acknowledged. Aldo finally came and took our order and we waited. We never received any drinks, not even water. Meanwhile, a table was seated after we arrived and the same hostess that seated us brought water to that table. The bartenders were standing around talking and laughing and doing nothing. We inquired as to if they received our drink order and they said nope, we don't have any tickets and turned right back around and continued their conversation as if by even asking, we were bothering them. I asked the hostess girl if a manager was available, she had a horrible attitude and refused to get the manager for us. The last straw was that they started delivering appetizers, and they brought out the wrong order and we still didn't even have any water. By the time our server Aldo came back around, we were walking out. He was kind, he did offer to get the manager at that time, but it was too late. So I can't say how the food is here or the drinks because I never got to try anything. I would not recommend this place if you value being treated like a human being. Thumbs down. Horrible service, management needs to be managed with no organization whatsoever. They sold New Years tables at a cost of $75/person for reservations yet made us wait in line on a first come first serve basis. We had a 9:45 reservation and were told to get in line behind people with later reservations that lined up early. We got past this and wanted to have a good night but when we were finally seated it was ON STAGE at a filthy table. We asked politely to be moved to another table and were told NO by the manager even though my friend is hard of hearing. The manager wouldn't even give us the option of waiting for another table. No one knew when the live music was starting or ending or when the food service ended. We had to beg to get service to order drinks and nobody cared at all about the customers. NEVER come here for New Years. HORRIBLE. The only good thing was the waitress. Poor lady was working all by herself. read more

We've been waiting so long to try this place because it has a great Thursday promotion. A 5- course meal for $35 per person, the food was delicious and definitely enough to share between two or more people. I would say this is not something you can eat quickly under an hour and go. Ordering and the three appetizer came out at 25 minutes but then the paella took another 20 but then we waited 30 minutes for the dessert and check. It was good food, something new to try. A Very Merry Christmas! My wife and I have been wanting to try Cafe Sevilla for a long time and all we can say is, WoW! From the rich depth of flavor of the Crema soup to the perfectly cooked seafood in the Paella, to the candied lemon rind of the lemon tart, everything was so thoughtfully prepared. Despite getting our food to go, we can still talk about the service. The person at the counter let my wife know that our dessert for the holiday meal would travel well so she offered to do her best or offer us options. We chose the lemon tart. You ready? For our trouble, she gave us two. We decided to stay home because we are grieving the loss of a family member and one of us was feeling ill. What we received was outstanding food and service, which amounted to kindness that goes beyond words. We can't wait to eat on site and celebrate. Been missing the taste of Spain ever since visiting several years ago. I have always loved the concept of tapas and couldn't wait to try Cafe Sevilla. Overall, the restaurant had a really nice ambiance (had live music on a Saturday night), and their food was quite tasty. It is a bit on the pricier side, but we didn't mind splurging a bit for a celebration. Probably not somewhere we would go on a typical weekend. Below is a review of all of the items we tried: Ahi Tuna Tartare Tower (3/5) - fresh and good with their toast. Wish it came with more toast because that was my favorite part of the dish. After we finished the toast, we were left with plenty of tuna which was decent but not memorable. 3 Albondigas al Jerez con Chorizo (4/5) - the meatballs were cooked in this flavorful sauce, which we loved dipping our bread in. Olive Loaf (5/5) - YUM! Was not expecting the bread to be one of the highlights of our meal. I'm not a huge fan of olives but the olives were tastefully sprinkled throughout the loaf. Very subtle olive flavor and absolutely divine. The loaf came with an aioli and tomato sauce, which were both delicious to pair with. The tomato sauce was *chef's kiss*. We loved eating the bread with all of our dishes. Traditional Paella Valenciana (3.5/5) - good flavor and was packed with an assortment of seafoods and meats. It was good but not a standout dish. Churros con Chocolate (5/5) - of course we had to end our meal with some churros. Now this was my favorite part of the meal. Churros were thin like how I like them and so crispy. It was delicious dipped in the chocolate. Mmmmmm. I don't typically care too much for dessert but this was to die for. Delightful experience! Glad we checked this place out. read more

But we found that it took longer than awhile to be acknowledged after we left the table and cruised to the bar for 1 more night cap. The Cafe Sevilla in Downtown San Diego and Long Beach is wonderfully delicious! I was disappointed in the Costa Mesa location. Although the size and entertainment is amazing in Costa Mesa. The food failed. I found the lamb to be very skunky, the octopus to be very fishy, and the vegetable to bland. But the empeñadas were very delightful. So get a few of those a few times and you will be full. If you ask for a straw they will bring you a metal straw and charge you money for it. So I kept mine even though I don't like anything metal near my teeth. I wasn't told about either being a cost or being metal. The staff is great. Uber/Lyft pick you up in a specific location in the parking garage. And the company you keep is really what matters. So 5 stars for my company and the service and drinks and empanadas. 3 star for the mediocre entrees. read more

Shout out to Tee for exceptional service and knowledge of the menu My girlfriend and I came on Thursday evening for a date night. Tee was so helpful in our decision on the 5 course dinner for two "Journey through Spain". Everything was delicious, the paella and spicy octopus ceviche was amazing. I hosted my birthday party on the Ibiza Patio at Sevilla's for 30 people. We had our own section that was roped off and exclusive. The area is beautiful with plenty of seating and fire places. I had two barrels of sangria, drink tickets for well drinks and passed appetizers. The food was amazing and our server Tea checked in constantly, kept everyone's drink's filled and brought the cake out promptly. The party planning was easy and the price for 30 people was $1K cheaper than 3 other restaurants I looked at. I highly recommend Sevilla's for a private party. read more

I'll start with the positives: Food and drinks were pretty good. We had various paellas and cocktails . But...the reason I'm not coming back here is because of the service and the ambiance. Our server was aloof and slow. She completely forgot to put in our tapas order and when i asked about them she first said "Oh I didn't hear you." And then said "I forgot to put the order in." No apology or offer to fix it. Just "I forgot." After that, we never saw her again until we asked for the check. Then the ambiance. It's a Spanish restaurant. I've been to the Cafe Sevilla in Long Beach and they had live Spanish guitar and a Spanish screaming. Here in Costa Mesa we got an electric guitar and a woman screaming old school rock tunes. I truly enjoyed their Sangria while my wife enjoyed an elderberry cocktail. I had to ask several times for drinks and one of our dishes came out cold and she seemed bothered when I let her know. This place isn't cheap so yeah I do expect to get what I'm paying for. It was busy when we were there so service was not good at all. The mushroom fig coca flatbread was pretty good and so was the oaxacan flower cocktail my friend had. The charcuterie was good but it's very very expensive so not worth $70 before tips. I don't understand why minimum tips start at 25%, excluding a 5% surcharge. We arrived with our party of 8 for a 6:30pm reservation. At this time it was not busy. I have been to Sevilla in Costa Mesa several times, but this recent visit was incredibly disappointing. We ordered an array of our usual appetizers and entrees for sharing. The food quality this evening was subpar, with our paella being undercooked and containing dead clams. There seemed to be no quality control in the kitchen this night.. To add to the disappointment, the service was lackluster. Our server was rarely present. The server spilled ceviche on my white sweater, they were indifferent and simply handed us napkins. Towards the end of our meal, as they were cleaning up, another server spilled food on my friend's hair without any apology or acknowledgment. Smelled like shrimp on my should for the remainder of my evening and stained it. This experience was unacceptable, especially considering my previous positive experiences at Sevilla. There's nothing here that I've not really liked and have enjoyed a good variety of their menu. I usually don't take the time to write Yelp reviews but my experience at Cafe Sevilla for dinner tonight was so disappointing that I felt compelled to. My husband and I got their Thursday night Journey for Two special for $35/person which comes with 5 courses. I started with a watermelon margarita which basically tasted like water with vague hints of watermelon. I honestly couldn't even taste the alcohol. My biggest problem from the food tonight is that nothing tasted fresh, and it tasted like most things were merely heated up. The biggest letdown was the mixed paella. It tasted very strange, and the seafood tasted as if it was past the expiration date. The lack of freshness in the seafood was evident throughout the entire dish, as the strange taste permeated throughout the rice. We let the waiter know at the very end, and all he said was he talked with the chef and manager. The manager never came to talk with us, further increasing my disappointment with this establishment. However, we did enjoy the live music and the fig and mushroom flatbread were decent. read more

I came here for their Flamenco Dinner Show! It was very educational, entertaining and the food was excellent. First, I would like to say Cafe Sevilla is located in Triangle Square. That's an important detail. GPS will lead you to this mall but not to the restaurant itself. You have to park in the parking garage to the shopping mall and it's on the second floor. Parking is free. The Flamenco show is every Saturday and you must purchase your tickets online. I paid $75. It included the the 3 course meal and flamenco show. The price also includes entrance to their nightclub. So what's for dinner? A nice arugula salad for starters, Paella and for dessert a lemon tart. Price does not include gratuity! By the way, you are automatically charged a 20% gratuity to your bill. So, this is easily $100 plus per person. The flamenco show was very entertaining but I must say there is an intermission in the show that is not mentioned in the description of the show. During the intermission, there is a belly dancer that comes on stage and performs for 30 minutes. It's okay but it's not flamenco. The atmosphere is celebratory. Everyone is cheering and lots of laughter. Live music! There is a guitarists and a singer performing the songs for the dancers. This is a great place to go for a wedding anniversary or birthday celebration. read more
