Tiki Bar is a classic local dive with live music, cheap drinks, and a taco stand right outside. We went to see a Sublime cover band and had such a fun night. Despite the name, it's not an elaborately decorated tropical island vibes tiki spot --it's more of a rock/punk/tribute band kind of place with a laid-back, a little rough-around-the-edges vibe. Went here thinking it was a tiki bar... and it was more like a trashy onlyfans bar. It was so dead and hot inside. It's a ran down bar that use to be a tiki bar back in the day. Went here about 3-4 YEARS ago and still remember trying to walk in on a Friday night when they were DEAD and the door guy wanted to charge us $10 each! I mean sure if you have an event going on I understand but the place was dead! We did not pay, left and never went back. We just recently had a family member, young fun girl, trying to go in with friends and they wanted to charge them $15 to get in and said to use the ATM close by! again... the bar was DEAD. no event. no nothing. Bar is fun but beware of the taco lady. She nabbed me for an extra $20. I was totally sober and handed her $20 for a $9 dollar order and asked her to add a quesadilla to my order ( which was 3 tacos) then she asked for the total of two orders. -$24. $9 for 3 tacos and $15 I guess for a carne asada quesadilla. I handed her $20 and she repeated "$24". I told her I just gave you a $20 -she said no. I had just taken out $80 from their ATM so I know it wasn't in my wallet because I only had $60. I canceled the quesadilla And said screw it- paid her the extra $20. So basically $29 for 3 street tacos. And went in my way. She is sneaky. I had a couple drinks at a live music show Ashley Felton and Daniel Bonte and the Bona Fide, I didn't have any food. The sound system was on point, both acts sounded great. The lighting and the sound system was on point with other great venues. This was my first visit to the Tiki Bar. Parking is limited and I had to find street parking a couple blocks away but no issues there. Prices were great, some venues like to gouge you for drinks. $9 for well cocktails $5 for bottled beer. You can't beat that in most venues. Compared to HOB it was a steal and the same level of music and people. Smeller venue but great sound, great energy and great people. Prior reviews that said bright lights and bad drinks I did not experience that at all. The tiki vibe is admittingly lacking there's a sparse amount of tiki related decor but the tiki drink I got was great and strong and cheap! What more can you ask for. Came for a comedy show here and didn't expect how divey it would be, but it works. The stage area is actually surprisingly big given and well done given the diviness of the rest of the place and there was a fair amount of seating. The outdoor area is cute with a taco stand, so was able to stand outside before the show. The rest of the decor is so strange, really going along with the diviness. The bathroom is not in the slightest bit pleasant smelling. They have some interesting tiki-themed drinks but for the atmosphere were a bit on the pricey side. When we went the beer taps were entirely not working, which was also a bummer. It seems like they have a very packed event calendar, so it's worth trying an event here. But as a bar I wouldn't need to come back. read more

First time at this bar, my best friend's husband was playing in one of the bands so we came to support of course! I really liked the vibe here, such a cool tucked away bar, the parking lot was full so we had to park down the way a bit which was ok! Our bartender was great, I did ask for a lemon drop and my gosh there drinks were strong lol! However he asked if I wanted sugar of course I do, I think I may have been the only one who asks for that drink there lol We had so much fun our bartender was awesome quick with the drinks. Had such a blast, love live music so coming here to watch music made me feel so good and alive! The Raptors were awesome our friends band, The Gringos never heard them but loved it and that was the band our friend's husband played in. Codefendants were amazing absolutely loved them! It was fun going to Costa Mesa and coming here it's been such a long time! Loved this bar can't wait to come back and see more shows. Live music makes me the happiest, I get lost in it and I'm in my own world closing my eyes dancing to the music and feeling it in my bones. Can't get enough of it helps me forget everything! Music is part of my heart and soul and maybe it will heal me! :) All and all this is a great bar good atmosphere they have two pool tables, and some high seating so you don't have to stand the whole time with some tables. They also have an outside patio area for smoking or fresh air also to buy some merch if you would like to. I would recommend this bar, it's good vibes and live music how could you really go wrong? Main thing I liked was the tacos in the outdoor patio. Like really delicious street tacos. $3 per taco but worth. (I like the al pastor and brirra. Chicken if you like healthy, still good.) I ordered like 21 tacos total between 2 people. ***CASH ONLY*** Parking is small. You can park on Newland street if its full. Not a far walk, 2 minutes. There's barely AC. It was hot inside, but cool outside. $10 min for transactions inside. There 2 pool tables. 75 cents per round. I would probably only go back here just for the tacos. read more

Came here with a friend to see BBMak perform. Parking lot is tiny (maybe 10-15 spaces or so) and surrounding street spaces were taken or had no parking signs. We ended up parking in the lot at the diner across the street, which was closed for the day. Inside is a pretty small space for a show. Standing room only unless you decide to sit toward the bar which would be the "back" of the crowd. Drink prices were decent. The bathroom was also fairly clean as far as bar bathrooms go and several stalls (more than two from what I recall). read more

Dive bar extraordinaire, this live music venue does not disappoint. Bar is quick and pours are good. Taco stand in the back with a nice yard to be outside as well. Acoustics work well and there's room to dance in front of the band. We came to see 30 Weight and they were awesome! read more

Strike one: They do not answer the phone no matter when you call Strike two: $6.00 for a draft beer in a plastic cup that is supposed to be 12 oz but its not. Strike three: As I left I asked the guy how much the cover was cause I came in before they started charging and he said $25.00. Really? I agree that this is kind of a dive bar, but that doesn't bother me as much. I saw Mood Lifters here and the sound was actually pretty good. My low rating is mainly because their website had a menu, and I thought "great, I can eat there." And I drove 45 miles from the San Fernando Valley. But they just had a mediocre (at best) taco stand on the patio, so I was starving most of the night. I just wish they had said "no dinner served on show nights" on their website or Facebook event or something, so I could eat before. I didn't know until I got there. That was a big deal to me, hence the low rating. I'd actually kind of like to try their real menu! read more

Honestly am so surprised how good this bar sounds when it comes to live shows. I was invited to a reggae show a couple weeks back and the sound was perfect. You could hear each individual instrument and the vocals were pretty clear as well after the sound guy did some adjusting. Honestly give your sound engineer a raise because they are killing the game. The drinks here are pretty standard for a dive bar with a small selection of draft beer and some bottled options as well. This isn't really a tiki bar so don't go in there expecting that but for a dive bar it's pretty decent. The real winner though outside of the audio was the tacos. I ordered 4 of the Al pastor tacos and these were some of the best tacos I've had, which honestly is crazy to think about since it's a little taco station in the back of the bar. But they were flavorful and I loved that they even included a slice of pineapple which you don't really see often anymore. The two servers at the taco station have their system down and we're able to help us quickly as well. If this location got bigger gigs, similar to chain reaction I would honestly keep coming back. This is the most disgusting bar I've ever been to. I came due to an event been held and it was terrible. It was filthy. People were doing drugs throughout the premises and I just felt completely uncomfortable here. Right from the start of the event, staff was great, directed us to our VIP seating near the front of the stage, and let us know the taco stand was outside. The tacos were to die for, I got Al pastor, and chorizo, and my girlfriend got steak. Zero complaints. The comedy show was about six different comedians that lasted about 1 hour and 40 minutes. This place was terrible! I witnessed the bouncer disrespecting one of the bands (all female-under 21). He was so rude and was telling them to wait outside and they could order food and eat it in the parking lot. I went to this bar October 11, 2024 and had an awful experience with the bouncer at the door. From first meeting he was super rude and not nice even tho you have to pay 10$ just to get in! I watched some of the bands perform for over an hour and noticed he was arguing with one of my friends outside so I went to see what was going on. He was cussing at my female friend and being unbelievably rude to her and she was in one of the bands performing that night!! The "reason" for him acting this way was he would not accept her temporary GOVERNMENT PROVIDED ID and would not let her be anywhere inside the bar except onstage while performing. I would totally understand if he was just enforcing his rules but you can be kind and professional about enforcing rules and this man was absolutely not. He used this as an excuse to degrade, film, cuss, and be a bully to us which is unacceptable from one of your staff members. We tried to sit outside in the parking lot to listen and support the other bands and he came after us into the parking lot (even tho we were just sitting there talking and not doing anything) and he said we needed to leave the property immediately and he began filming us just listening to the music!!! Ask him for the video he took of us and you'll see we weren't doing anything and he was the one harassing us. He followed us all the way to the public sidewalk and said we weren't allowed to be on the public sidewalk?? Which I told him was not true and we could stay here. So we had to listen to support the other bands from the sidewalk at midnight even tho it's super dangerous for two girls to be alone on the street that late this guy didn't care at all about our safety and was so glad to have an excuse to bully two young girls. This experience was absolutely unacceptable and this needs to be addressed. I will discourage everyone I know from playing or coming here because I cannot believe your staff would allow that type of treatment to not only your customers but people that are there to perform for you at your bar!! read more

Small size theater for performancde by Eric Lindell live band. We arrived arrived early with tickets in hand; luckily they let us in before the patrons without tickets. There is only one table of 14 that has a vantage point from bar area to performance stage. Score! we got seats at the table of 14. Lazy women's happiness:) The performance stage room is standing room for live performance front and center. There is a taco man outside. There are only about 20 parking spaces in front of door entrance, otherwise, I don't know where you would park for a well-attended concert which was the case on the night I went. I've genuinely never had a worse experience at a bar than this cesspool. First off, this place can't even afford a card reader at the door and only lets you pay cash. If you don't have cash you can use their ATM, which obviously charges you a huge fee. The creepy security must have some serious pent up frustrations at home, maybe an unfaithful wife or kids who hate him, I can only assume, because as soon as we walked in he made it his personal mission to make us feel uncomfortable as soon as possible. Also, he stared at my butt. Once we got past the gate troll, we went to the bar. The bartender was extremely rude and walked away from us mid order. When we finally got our drinks, they were watery and didn't taste right. The one selling point of the bar, the live music, was not good at all. The sound mixing couldn't have been worse if it was set up by a monkey with a learning disability. I highly recommend this place if don't want a fun time, good drinks, or staff that make you feel comfortable and welcome. read more
