I've had the Thai milk tea, lychee milk tea and passion fruit milk tea. VERY GOOD! So far, this is the only Boba place in the Dublin area where I can drink it down and not want to spit it back up. Most of the other places I have been to in this area, the lychee would have a sour tart after taste. This place, the milk tea has always been smooth in flavor. I have been a loyal customer for the last 6 years. It seems that the attitude has change along with the staff. The cashier misheard my order. And upon a requested adjustment we were told that we would have to pay again. They clearly stated that they were willing to have 3 of us never comeback rather that fix 1 drink. I have worked as a barista for over 4 years and this is not how I have ever handled a situation like this. In many cases even if the customer asked for the wrong thing I would just remake it. Cafe Tapioca is definitely better than Quickly in Ulferts, Dublin. I just discovered this place last week from yelp. They also are extremely slow, only 3 people working and there's a line out the door. Took the family over to make use of a coupon. Drinks are normally made pretty good here, especially in comparison to other similar places (Quickly..*cough*) in the Tri-Valley. The service is also normally pretty quick. If not for an interesting experience with the cashier, I probably would have given this place a higher score. The total of our order for three drinks (2 with pearl) came to $6. Sweet! I gave a $20 bill and got back four $1 bills. As I was about to drop my tip into the tip jar, I noticed that I was missing $10 in additional change. I mentioned to the cashier that I had given her a $20 bill. She looked at me with a blank stare, grunted (heard by my wife), and then gave me my change from the register. No smile, no apology, no nothing. HANDS DOWN, BEST FRICKIN' BOBA EVER. I hate driving far places, and I never really crave boba. In fact, I used to get straight up milk tea or just chuck the pearls if they were clumped together+obviously reused/couple days old (I've worked at a boba place before..actually that might explain why I wasn't a huge fan of boba). This place has chaaaanged my life. You know how when you get boba at Tapioca Express, Verde, Quickly's, Teastation, or some other popular chain store it's usually a blind draw as to how the drink will taste+how edible the boba will be? Not here. The boba's always chewy and soft, the drinks aren't too sweet (I get the black tea with pearls+royal milk tea), and it's maaagicalll (it might sound like I'm taking it too far but man not having to wonder what your drink will taste like/if it's worth the money is awesome). The servers are always nice and the drinks come out super quickly so you'll be able to get in and get out in less than ten minutes if you're in a rush. They also have ice cream that looks pretty good but I've never tried it! (One thing you shouldn't do here is buy anything on the counter. Everything is CRAZY overpriced--one small pack of nori/seaweed..the kind you get in buckets at the asian supermarkets for $1? I wonder if these actually sell!) P.S. Cash only guys! I've had my fair share of tapioca drinks from various tapioca establishments (Lollicup, Tapioca Express, Quickly, you name it). Cafe Tapioca is by far, a million light years actually, better than all those places combined. I went here earlier with Smoosh while waiting for some friends. Free wifi. We shared a tapioca coffee milk tea. It was really strong and just what we needed to wake up after staying up late Googling. They didn't seem to mind that all we bought was a $4.00 tapioca coffee and was mooching internet for awhile, until my friends showed up. He and I ordered the pork spare ribs with rice and fried octopus. Total: $8.00. The pork spare ribs with rice came in this huge container. It was alright but the portion was well worth the $4.00 it cost. Smoosh polished it off like a man on a mission. The fried octopus was good. It was nicely flavored and similar to what I've had in Taiwan. I wished the pieces were cut up a little more as I lost out on few big pieces when I shared with my other friends. I tried the popcorn chicken a friend got and it was really good. The basil it was fried with gave it that extra kick. You can also ask for more spice when you order anything fried. I opted for the non-spicy in order to share with spice-sensitive Smoosh but think the octopus would've tasted better with a little heat. All in all, I'd come back (and we did before we made our way home: honey milk tea and royal milk tea.... delicious!) The employees are nice as well and the owner (I think it was him) reminded us about a free upgrade if we printed out a coupon. Pretty flipping awesome. read more

This is my now go-to spot for tapioca drinks. I'm starting to come here a little more often, especially since my work is just a jump, hop and skip away - My favorite drink here is the Thai Tea Smoothie with pearls - I really need to start venturing out and trying new things, but their drinks provided are very consistent. There are other places where it's a hit or miss with their thai tea, and here I'm very confident I'll be happy with my drink. Other places provide two sizes for pearls, I prefer the small ones but they only provide the larger pearls. The royal milk tea here is really good as well. One thing to be sure of before you even THINK about coming here... Bring Your Cash. I came here for the first time and enjoyed my drinks. We got royal milk tea, honey milk tea and jasmine. It was relatively cheap for a regular size. They have lots of topping options and ice cream and snacks. The interior was slightly smaller but it's cute. You can also choose if you want your drink hot or cold. read more

This place is wonderful. The owners and employees are very friendly. The owner recognizes me when I come in (does that mean I have a boba addiction?), even if I haven't been there in a while. As for the tea, I've sampled the Royal Milk Tea, the Honey Green Tea, the Hazelnut Tea, and a few of their smoothies (all with boba of course). So far I've had nothing but good experiences here. Having grown up in the East Bay, it was nothing short of difficult to find a solid pearl tea place in the Pleasanton/Dublin area. Quickly's does not count. Fortunately Cafe Tapioca pulled through and became my go-to place whenever I needed my fix. The place may not look like much, tucked away in a secluded shopping plaza on the outskirts of Dublin, but step inside and you'll find a small shop that serves quality tapioca. You won't find mobs of people with orange highlights playing cards and singing out to the latest Asian music videos, but you'll get decent service, and again, good milk tea. read more

I've recently become obsessed with milk tea with pearls, I've always had the love, but not like this. I live in the middle of no where, kind of and this was the closest place. So here comes Yelp! I search, found and well it's close to the freeway on my way up to the city. This little place is located in a dreary little shopping center next to tons of shops, department stores and a Ranch 99. The shopping center has plenty of parking, but you have to search for it a little bit. It's not hidden but no huge signs to help find it for the first time. The store was fair, meaning it wasn't super updated but it seemed fairly cute with the decor, small things to buy but it just wasn't spectacular. I wouldn't be hanging out here or taking a date here to chat over tea. So it's ok. The girl at the register quickly helped me, myself being the only person in there on a Wednesday at 4:30pm. There was a bit of a miscommunication but my tea came out fine. She wasn't bad nor amazing. I ordered a large milk tea with small tapioca pearls. The milk tea itself wasn't too sweet, I don't have a sweet tooth but wish it was just a tad sweeter. The tapioca wasn't super fresh but soft enough in general. It was $4.00 which is kind of pricey but not horrible. I felt everything was satisfactory and I will probably mind up here again but not a place I'd go super out of my way for. read more

Quick review, Cafe tapioca is way better than quickly or tapioca express. The milk tea here is REAL stuff. Not food colored with sugar poured in. Its a really reasonable price too, 2.50 for a regular sized milk tea without pearls. Store is in a a smaller quiet shopping center. I don't know how busy it gets in the evening, but the middle of the day seems busy for its hour. I believed they opened another location in the area, so that could be a good sign of success. Came here tonight for a popcorn chicken and almond milk tea fix. It was about 15 minutes to close, and I strolled in to order. The cashier was really friendly, but the popcorn chicken making lady seemed a little angry that I ordered so late to closing time. Maybe they turned the fryer off? Anyway, the almond milk tea was on point. Way better than Quickly down the street. The popcorn chicken, not so much. The texture wasn't quite there, and the chicken was covered in too much flour. Minus a star because they don't let you shake your own chili/pepper powder. I'll definitely be back for more tasty drinks, but most likely with a quickly popcorn chicken bag in my hand too. I'm from San Jose and I've tried milk tea places all over the South Bay (San Jose, Mountain View, Cupertino,...) and I was really impressed with Cafe Tapioca. I just happened to be in town to help with a friend's wedding errands and since it was a hot day, we decided to get something to drink. My sister yelped this place and we decided to give it a shot. I tried the Jasmine Milk Tea (without boba...hate boba, sorry guys). It was actually really good and different from the million milk tea places I've been to. My boyfriend had the Thai Milk Tea and that tasted like any other Thai Milk Tea. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone around Dublin craving for milk tea. I, however, don't think it's worth it enough to drive all the way to Dublin for from San Jose. read more

I have a confession to make.......I cannot properly review this Cafe due to the fact that I am biased. #1 I am Asian (spell check made me capitalize that, not sure if i was supposed to......) so I have been fed this stuff all my life, so there's no telling how someone who's typical ideas of drinks would react to Bobas ("eeeewwww i have rabbit droppings in my drink!")#2 my family knows the owner and most of the people who work there, in fact my sister worked there for a while. So, all i have to say is that it serves up some good drinks (i get the lychee green tea because i think the Bobas are a lil underwhelming here) and OK finger foods. Only drawback is that the store itself is a little small so it can get cramped. Now, for why I REALLY reviewed this place. Now let's say that it's early in the morning and you decided that you wanted tea instead of Starbucks (hahaha). And so you roll around to Cafe Tapioca and get yourself a drink that is just a bit sweeter than what you wanted in the morning. So, what do you do? IMHO, head to the bagel shop next door. This is a nice, cozy cafe that seats about 10-12 (just a few tables and a couch). We ordered the popcorn chicken, a couple drinks and a Chinese tofu rice plate. Everything came out quickly and the flavor was on point. The employees were friendly and pricing is comparable to other milk tea/boba places in the area. However, the major drawback is they do NOT have a restroom for customer use. This is baffling considering they sell a huge variety of drinks and have a seating area which encourages customers to linger. If you have young children, are accustomed to having a restroom handy to wash up, or just for general convenience purposes, this may not be the place for you! For this reason, I will not be returning to Cafe Tapioca. read more

This is one of the locations in the Pearl Tea Triangle (there are three places within walking distance of each other). I walked in with three people ahead of me in line but saw 1 person walk out shaking his head. I should have taken that as a clue. The woman working the counter, and register, was also handling the making of the teas. She was hustling as much as she could but it took me 20 min to get a Thai Tea with Pearl. It's hard for me to justify patronizing an a restaurant that cannot handle lunch time demands. Great tea though. read more

I knew that I didn't have enough time to order there. I was told my pick up time was 5-6 minutes when I got there I had to wait over 15 mins when she told me it was going to be 5-6 mins from when I called and it takes 5 to get there so I left right away so my food wouldn't be cold.
