I've been going here maybe once a week for the past 4 or 5 months now and I have never been disappointed. I do like my boba on the sweet side so this would be like 100% sweetness at other places. Pearls are always nice and gooey chewy, never hard in the center. I come hear with friends and we play some of the games they have while sipping our boba. It's a good place to go when you want to get out of the house and chill. I love love love the Wintermelon Crema which isn't technically on the menu but is just phenomenal. read more

It's probably true that Cafe Tapioca has the best pearl tea in Dublin, but I'm not quite sure how many boba joints they have to compete with. Nonetheless, Cafe Tapioca is pretty solid. The Jasmine Milk Tea was a bit more floral tasting than I'm used to, but it was refreshing to have something different than the norm. As for the regular Jasmine Tea, it seemed like it was watered down, but that may have been due to my lack of taste buds since I'm currently sick. The fried octopus was tasty, but too oily. The service was decent. The only "problem" I had with this place is that it took a while for the food to come out. It's good to know that they make the food to order, but it took so long that some of my friends were almost done with their drinks by the time it came out. A tasty take on the Boba craze of So Cal in it's own tapioca pearl drink cup. Cafe Tapioca is a strong asian influenced drink shop compared to the random donut shop that has Boba in LA, or the hip locations of Boba Loca (which I love) but it almost resembles an asian pinkberry but serves tapioca pearl drinks. They have a wide range of drinks and seems to always have customers. So specific demographic does this place serve but it's own uniqueness. For some reason the Boba was hard, chewy, and flavorless... I came on a Saturday afternoon, they were quite empty... the Pearls probably had been sitting out for a while or something, did not taste fresh at all! The Taro drink that it came in however was pretty decent... a little bit too much on the sweet side... 4 stars for the drinks, 1 star for the service. If you're here to get JUST drinks, go for it. The drinks here are really tasty, and they come out relatively quickly. If you order a snack though--beware. It may come out 20-25 minutes later, or not come out at all if they decide to forget about it. This used to be one of my favorite spots to go to in Dublin to grab a milk tea and a snack, but the quality of service has been declining the last few times I was here. After waiting for over 20 minutes for my ONE order of popcorn chicken earlier today, I asked the cashier how much longer it would take for the popcorn chicken to come out. She casually told me about 5-10 minutes and went back to her convo with her coworker whilst sitting on top the counter (unsanitary, much?) Of course, by this point, I was a little pissed, so I asked her if it was an EXTRA 5-10 minutes on top of the time I've already waited. She repeats herself and as do I. Then she looks at me confused and asks "What do you mean? Did you order popcorn chicken?" and looks at her other coworkers. It finally comes out after one of them ran to check the kitchen. The chicken is cold, and without the level of spice we wanted. Not only that, for almost $4, I get probably around 10-12 pieces of chicken. Overall: very nice pearl tea place that is not a well known BayArea-chain. *big kudos for being an individual stand out* Pros: - honey green milk tea had a never nice jasmine aroma. Which can be rare these days to taste/smell any tea aroma. - mango milk tea - smooth and creamy. All my friends enjoyed it very much that I end up having to pour out/split with all of them. - Rose Creama tea - delicious thick creama, where it did not dissolve into my tea shortly after. It stayed in a nice solid form through out the whole drink. Sadly the tea didn't have a strong rose aroma so I'll get another flavor next time, but sure loved that thick dense creama foam! [very pleased] -Service: nice customer service. They messed up my tea twice and was going to throw the 2nd one away to make the 3rd, but I felt bad so I told them I'll just take the 2nd one and put the extras on the side. Small Cons: their pearls are tasty when fresh/enjoyed right away but after couple hours - it does get hard. I made the mistake of saving a drink with pearls in it for a friend and after 2-3 hours, it was hard and nasty. great to have this available in the east bay. definitely better than the other bubble tea places - they use fresh ingredients (not the nasty powdered stuff), the shakes are creamy and the tapioca is soft and not too chewy. i am a fan of the papaya shake and their food offerings like the tofu and squid balls are pretty yummy. service is generally okay - sometimes they are short-staffed (1 person in there doing everything) - so the wait is a bit longer. read more

I've been going here since middle school, and now I am a college student. This place is still in business for a reason. The location is nice, it is a bit small inside, but they do have minimal seating. I enjoy their drinks and their boba is good. I don't think I have ever had a bad experience with a drink from this place. I love their green tea smoothie, because they put real ice cream in it. So I've been back a few more times. But I find myself not coming more often because of 2 reasons. 1) They don't have a loyalty card. You know, the card you get stamped for each drink and after 10 you get a free one. Almost all tapioca places have this and it gets me coming back! 2) a bit on the expensive side. In my opinion, the price for the milk tea with tapioca is on the expensive side (i think it's $3.00) considering Quickly offers it for 99 cents. The loyalty card would probably ease the pang of paying three times the price of Quickly. However, other items are on par for pricing like fruit smoothies, and chicken snacks. Another observation is their tapioca balls were not sweet enough on my last 2 visits. I don't like them over sweet, but these were a bit on the bland side. read more

I've been here a few times with my family. They have delicious popcorn chicken and a very tasty popcorn chicken sandwich. Usually they give plenty of chicken. I gave 1 less star because ordering for pick can be difficult and it seems rushed. They do not give as much it seems. Horrible - that's the first word that comes to mind when I decided to write this review. It was deserted on a Sunday afternoon, that certainly told us something. Why I will never come back: - I ordered a Tangerine Black Tea and asked for less sweetened. The girl making our drink said "okay" but ta-da! I got a super concentrated drink. I say concentrated because it's super sour (which I actually liked) and sweet at the same time. Obviously, we have very different standards of "less sweetened". - Boyfriend ordered Mango Milk Tea. He did NOT get a milk tea. What he got resembles a much-too-airy-and-thick mango yogurt smoothie. Wait, that's not the worst part yet. He left the barely touched drink at home (on a cool, windy day) for a few hours, and what we saw when we came back was utterly disgusting. The melted ice water sits on top of the so-called "milk tea", which is now a mixture of solids and liquid. I'm sorry, but milk tea and melted ice does NOT form two layer. Why I didn't give it 1 star: - They had a good selection of flavored jellies, I had to give them credit for that. YUM! I went here with my boyfriend the other night and it was really good! While browsing the menu, i noticed they had an avocado smoothie... i jokingly suggested that my boyfriend get it. The worker overheard and suggested the avocado green tea smoothie and my boyfriend actually got it! Huge shock considering he is really picky! Another huge shock came when it was actually really tasty! I got the strawberry icy with bubbles which was amazing. I honestly did not have a great experience here. The drinks are quite expensive compared to other places. However, you can't expect much in the East Bay. I ended up getting an iced mango green tea. Don't get it. It tasted like pure syrup. It was WAY too sweet and it didn't even taste like tea. The boba wasn't great and the cup felt a bit small for a regular size. I love the bubble teas. My favorite is the coconut milk bubble tea. And they have a variety of appetizers. Very fresh and on point.

True, the Boba Milk Tea fad is on the wane, but sometimes I feel like a gummy treat. While no comparison to the best boba tea joints in the South Bay and the Inland Empire, this place is respectable. Service is relatively quick, prices are fair, boba is fresh. My milk tea flavor of choice is taro root. They used to be much richer and creamier but in recent months, the taro flavor has gotten thinner and thinner. However, it is always blended well, so you never get that gross and weird powdery texture. Also, the boba is very fresh, very al dente, never mushy. It's a decent place for your boba milk tea fix in the Valley. Just remember - no credit cards. It's cash only here. read more

This place is only of the only, if not the only, milk tea places in this area. I'm not in Pleasanton/Dublin often, but do make the drive from Berkeley to Modesto occasionally to visit my parents so this place is on the way. It is relatively close to the freeway so I try and stop by for a mid-drive thirst-quenching milk tea when I can. First time I came in I ordered the Japanese Green Milk Tea with pearls. The pearls were perfect, but the drink a little too powdery to be enjoyable. I was thoroughly disappointed and noticed the man who made my drink seemed to be in a rush/preoccupied so I attributed the flawed drink to that. Second visit I ordered the Jasmine Green Milk Tea with pearls. SO DELICIOUS. The drink was floraly and distinct in flavor and not powdery at all. The pearls once again made to perfection. Not quite Ten Ren quality, but it can compete imo. The drinks are reasonably priced though the shop is cash only. I'll be back any time I am in the area for that Jasmine Green Milk Tea. read more

Pleasantly surprised. After a long day and a horrible dinner, I felt the need to get some tapioca and found this place on my way home. The place has a decent menu and they also serve ice cream, which I found interesting, and maybe next time I'll try one with my boba as indicated in some of the other reviews. I went to my base drink to test this place out, milk tea. I went with the Royal Milk tea. I found the milk tea to be good! The milk tea wasn't sweet yet not too much tea-like either. We stopped by this Taiwanese boba shop today and noticed that there were people from 2-3 other cars that just got out of their cars in the parking lot and walked into the store before us. It appeared that everyone just converged into the store at the same time (this was about 2pm on a Sunday afternoon). We just made it to the end of the line right at the entrance to the store. We were thinking: "is this place that good?" The two girls behind the counter were clearly overwhelmed by the sudden impact of customers (there was about 8 waiting in line including ourselves and another 10 already in the store waiting for their orders. I didn't pick up on this, but the wifee mentioned to me that she heard one of the girls calling the boss on our way in: "..hurry up and get back! There's all these people that just walked in all of the sudden!.." Service was extremely slow and it took us about 20 minutes to get our drink order and even more time to get our popcorn chicken. We ordered the Taro Milk-Tea ($2.50) with small pearls ($0.50), the Green Tea Milk-Tea ($2.50) with small pearls ($0.50) and an appetizer snack, the fried spicy Popcorn Chicken ($4.00 for small portions that took us about 30 minute wait to get). This little snack came out to be $10.00! Not the most value you can get for your money. Taste for the drinks were good and as expected for places like these nowadays (which uses sweet sugary syrup and artificial powder flavors vs. using fresh fruits). Most chain tapioca places today serve this instant variety. Admittedly, I do go to these places as well but would rather find a place that serves fresh fruit tapioca like in Asia. Think going to Starbucks and ordering different flavored INSTANT coffee and everyone raving how great the coffee is! Other than the long wait, the tapioca pearls were not cooked thoroughly and were a little bit hard on the inside for both our drinks. The consistency for properly cooked tapioca should be chewy through. If it was hard like this in the middle then it's undercooked. If it's cracked open and hard on the outside then it's old and stale (which I've had before). I tasted this but didn't think anything of this but my wifee wasn't happy about this and mentioned this to the boss in Taiwanese. The boss was apologetic and offered to redo her drink which she was happy with (we still haven't gotten our popcorn chicken at this point yet!). The popcorn chicken by the way was "alright" and we've had better (we may actually 'kill' for some of the fried spicy popcorn calamari that Quickly makes! :) The portion we feel was on the stingy side, filling up half of the little paper bag for $4.00. I'm surprised by all these rave reviews here but then again noticed that perhaps like the customers in the store today, 90% weren't Chinese (meaning this standard won't be tolerated for long by discriminating Chinese/Taiwanese boba drinkers). The little shop was brightly lit and inviting. They have several small tables with chairs and a couch by the window with magazines for people to lounge. I noticed they also sell small Asian/Taiwanese trinkets on the wall. They also sell Double Rainbow ice cream here! (I think 8 flavors total). My savior. Before we moved to Pleasanton, I was seriously having doubts and considered reneging on the leasing contract almost solely because I didn't know of any tapioca cafes in the area. But Yelp saved the day (again) and my fiance and I and I decided to investigate this place last night. I didn't expect much, especially since I hold the Tapioca Express in Union City near and dear to my heart, but this place exceeded my expectations. I ordered the usual--milk tea w/pearls--and the milk tea was just right. The tapioca could have been a tad sweeter and chewier but I was so ecstatic that the drink wasn't a complete disappointment that I walked out of the place with a huge child-like grin on my face. I WAS on a 12-step program to get rid of my gnawing pearl tea addiction. However, this place has totally thwarted my plans to cut down on this high-carb treat :( read more
