At the rear of Common Market. Good size bar with a few TVs. Older crowd. Bartender Deb is great. Quick witted and pleasant. A pleasant surprise is when we were asked if we wanted bread and butter. No one ever does that for some reason anymore ...Italian bread that may have been home made was very good. Fresh with a nice crust. I also like butter and not the foo foo oils most places put out. We had the bang bang shrimp as an app ...they were pretty good. I personally like them a tad hotter. Eggplant rollatini had two big pieces that I'm told we're good. Entree was the Valentine special surf and turf...two rather small stuffed shrimp and a good size perfectly cooked filet that was unreal. The sides of garlic mashed and onion rings were delish. Looked like the onion rings may have been homemade. Light and crispy. Cooked in fresh oil. Desert was a Expresso Martini Affogato. Very good martini with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it ! This place is a hidden jewel. Very good food at a reasonable price. Deborah's entertainment behind the bar made the experience even better. We will be back. read more

The food, service. This place kicks ass and I'm a hard grader. If cafe de paris were a woman, I'd marry her and we'd have kids together. All the food I've had here is top notch. The braised beef is tender and flavorful. The parmesan chicken portion is huge and the chicken has actual chicken flavor unlike frozen chicken, or on-sale chicken. The french onion soup tastes like sweet onions and not salty like the canned stuff that you can cure meat in. The bartenders know who you are by the second time you come in, and the service speed would put NASCAR service crews to shame. This is the place I would bring a date to. To show how baller I am paying $15 a meal with ease, and that I only dine on the finest. read more

first thing, this is NOT a French restaurant. That said it is a GOOD restaurant. We came in around 8pm which is the time we usually have dinner, not the time the rest of the clientele of Cafe de Paris has dinner. This is a nice change. No crowd at 8PM on a Saturday. Score! The food was really good. We had the onion soup (cheesy and very tasty), Cedar Plank Salmon (amazing, the sauce and cedar flavor are perfect together), Crab Cakes (liked the inclusion of two sauces with this even though the flavor on their own was great). Dessert was decent, but a little bit of a let down after the dinner. The service was GREAT. We loved our waitress. She was friendly and jokey without being obnoxious or overbearing. Also when I forgot my takeout box she came out to catch me in the parking lot. Bonus!! I am not sure why after 7 years in Quincy this was our first visit to the Common Market Restaurants. This place was REALLY surprising. When you first walk in to the restaurant, you feel like you have been transported to a dining hall in a retirement home. We're talking over-sized floral print wallpaper, fake plants, outdated decor, and clientele that are so old (how old are they?)...theyre so old that they probably took their driving tests on a dinosaur. WAIT! Don't run! The large bar dominating one side of the dining room and a karaoke setup should give you a clue as to what lies underneath the paisley and doily facade - a great place in desperate need of an interior designer. I had the Cedar Plank Salmon, and my husband had the Petit Filet. Both entrees were VERY well prepared, had nice portion sizes, and were responsibly priced. It definitely seemed as though the chef was proud of his product, and we even saw him carrying the food out of the kitchen and placing the dishes on the serving trays. The servers were very nice and extremely attentive. Although the clientele was mostly a more "mature" crowd, the noise in the dining room was moderate (we watched a group of 6 older ladies throwing back Cosmos and talking about grandkids). Came here for a business lunch. Informed my server that I have gluten, corn, and nut allergies. She nodded and offered me the gluten free menu. I decided to order off the lunch menu as the gluten free menu only offer entree size dishes and I wasn't that hungry. Asked for the cedar plank salmon without the glaze and a side of vegetables with nothing on it. Everything tasted fresh, good and fine till I find a stray orzo at the bottom of my vegetable side. Needless to say, Liquid Benadryl came to my rescue as my tongue begins to tingle, and throat starting to swell. Had to take my medication for my cramps - thanks to celiac. The whole time I sat there, I was worried the allergic reaction might turn full blown and I'll be covered in hives with desperate need for my epi pen jab and an emergency 911 call. All that drama which I wouldn't want during a business lunch meeting. I would highly recommend for the owner to take note on retraining the kitchen staff and server to properly serve and handle food for patrons with severe food allergies. read more

We ate here with some friends for New Year's Eve. The hostesses were very friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the food was superb! The salad and bread rolls were fresh, and everyone at our table seemed pleased. I had the cedar plank salmon, which featured a fantastic ginger orange glaze. My wife had the stuffed schrod, which was also delicious. We both had the mascarpone mashed potatoes with our dish, and they were perfect! For dessert we had the apple crisp, which was good, but very small. The red velvet cake was a lot bigger and better for sharing. The prices are reasonable, considering that it is "French" cuisine. The food here is just as good as any comparable place in Boston, and much cheaper! Our server started out great, but as the night went on she started to get flaky and forgot about us. I had been wanting to try this place for quite some time and this afternoon I finally got to have lunch there. The atmosphere was very nice, the dining room was immaculate and the menu has plenty of dishes to pick from on it. Here you'll find appetizers such as fried calamari and shrimp cocktail. They also have some nice salads, pasta dishes, burgers, seafood, steak and chicken so there is definitely something for everyone here. I opted for the sirloin tips which came with potatoes and vegetables on the side. I also ordered a side garden salad. The sirloin tips were absolutely delicious and were cooked to my liking. The portions were great. The salad was very good and was a very nice addition to my lunch. The bread that was served to me was hot out of the oven and the dipping oil that came with the bread was the best dip I have ever tasted. My waitress, Deborah, was very good and handled all of the customers in both the dining room and at the bar which I found very impressive. I really enjoyed everything, I'm glad I finally got to try the place out and I know for sure that I'll be back. I wish I had tried this place YEARS ago! read more

I've been here a few times and I have not a single complaint except the patronage is baby boomer range. Nothing against them; but it just makes me feel out of place. The food was excellent. Our waitress? Not so much. My mother and I wanted to try some local fare while passing through Quincy yesterday and found Cafe de Paris via her ever trustworthy, TomTom. We walked in and immediately thought, "Oh man." Very dark and very dated. Yet, the menu looked good and we were starving. After being seated in the corner, it took about 20 minutes to get our waitress to finally come take our order... Another 15 minutes for my French Onion Soup to arrive... And yet another 20 minutes for our lunch to follow. The food was amazing, don't get me wrong. I had the Croque Monsieur and loved it. My mom had the bacon and ham omelette, which she equally enjoyed. So what left a bad taste in our mouth? The service and ambiance were lacking. Our waitress was extremely negligent and had a fierce attitude (she actually threw her hands up at us when we politely told her that we were ready to order)... Not to mention the bartender who was getting clearly frustrated when a customer had to ask her twice where the ladies room was located. Staff probably shouldn't bite their patrons' heads off. If you can put all of that aside, the food is both delicious and affordable. Onion soup, onion rings, paninis, omelettes, etc... all worth sticking it out for. The demographics are definitely on the old side like 95% retirement home old, which is a bit intimidating. However that aside it's good food and great prices. Cafe de Paris is a small, pleasant restaurant offering a phenomenal deal even on Saturday evenings. We began with fresh, crisp salads accompanied by delicious dressings - Blue Cheese and Vidalia Onion. Warm tasty rolls were promptly brought to the table. Regarding the entrees, there was a choice of six. My husband and I both agreed that his sautéed chicken with tortellini as well as my Bake Scrod Florentine were nicely prepared. His portion was huge so he was happy to be able to look forward to a delicious lunch the next day. My entree was much smaller but enough for me. The cabernet included in the "Two for $34.99" option was smooth and enjoyable. We did find room to add the Moose Tracks ice cream sundae dessert - which was gigantic, scrumptious and very reasonably priced!. It should be noted that Cafe de Paris is one of three restaurants in the Common Market. Upstairs, live entertainment occurs on various evenings and Karaoke is downstairs on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. We are pretty much regulars here now. We come here often because how can you beat 2 entrees and a whole bottle of wine for under $35? They offer this deal Monday thru Saturday. Its a small quaint little place with good food. I usually get the Baked Scrod Florentine which is delicious. Please note, it is a mature crowd so if you're going to sit at the bar, just now that this crowd is on the very mature side :) You would think with the name Cafe De Paris that it offers french food,well it doesn't. The waitresses are always nice and friendly. I love the bread and hummus that comes out first, so good. They even have tarot readings on Wednesdays if you are into that stuff for $20. In one word HORRIBLE! First off, this restaurant most likely doesn't know where Paris is located on a map! Second, the average age was probably 89, not counting an old man at the bar that I was sure was probably celebrating his 200th birthday! Our server was totally obnoxious and pushy! Great food, reasonable prices and good service. I had a beet salad with the cedar plank salmon. Highly recommend that you have the sauce on the side. You get to truly taste and enjoy the fresh salmon with a strong cedar plank scent to it. The bread was a little disappointing as the garlic was already cooked before baking so the bread does not really have a strong garlic flavor and aroma to it. I ordered many almost everything with sauce/dressing on the side, no butter on veggies and the waitress got it right. Ok 1st off if you are called Cafe De Paris serve French Food I go to an Italian restaurant to get Italian, Chinese to get Chinese, Indian to get Indian so if I go to a place named after a famous place in France it better have French food. Where do I go from here? Well the waitress served as not only the waitress but also the bartender and for $20.00 she would read your palm fortune! She was not necessarily rude but abrupt. She was scary she told people to sit where they wanted then complained when they chose the back because she had to go all the way around to them. Of course she complained not to them to us... Nice! The few French items they had were horrible. French onion soup well I love cheese but would have wanted a little less and more soup. The roast beef sandwich to dip was cold and had so much meat I removed half to fit in my mouth. Needless to say I will never return. We came here with no expectations just wanting to try somewhere new for dinner. The night started out very promising but quickly went downhill. Our waiter was very attentive at first, our drinks came quickly and our order was placed. Our appetizer order came as did our second round of drinks! At this point we are extremely happy and talking about how great this place is and who we are going to bring with us next time. Our food arrives and this is where things start to go downhill. The food was actually very good but we eat our meals and then wait...and wait...we see our waiter in the bar area but he has not been over to us in at least 30 minutes. Finally a woman wearing a headset (a manager we assume) comes over to clear our plates and asks if we would like dessert. We order and when she returns with our dessert spills water all over our table. While this is not a big deal it was quite inconvenient and back when I waited tables would have warranted something off the bill. We ate the desserts (the red velvet cake was very dry like it was easily a week old) and waited some more. Finally, our waiter makes his first appearance in almost an hour and we ask for our check. We paid the bill (not even a comped dessert) and left. While the food was good nothing makes up for extremely poor service. I highly doubt we will ever come here again. read more
