Cafe This Way was the perfect breakfast experience we were looking for! I got blueberry pancakes and a side of scrambled eggs and my friend got their special, blueberry bread pudding. Our food was perfect and somehow better than we even expected. Great diner type coffee! The vibe in here is super cute, especially as a book lover! We waited for a short time for a party of 3 on a Wednesday morning off season, definitely worth whatever wait. Service is good and quick.

Strong latte and delicious breakfast. Came in at about 6:45am and it was a bit full! Luckily i was alone so i sat at the bar and was quickly taken care of. Parking is paid on the street if you want to be nearby. The restaurant itself is cute. you walk up gravel to get to the host table to get a seat. they have merch you can get, has a book theme. Food didn't take long to come out, and with some spk, the eggs were exactly what i needed.

This was my favorite breakfast while visiting Bar Harbor. There is plenty of seating inside and outside, and we had a lovely table under a shady tree on the patio. I had one of the smoothies and muffins on special, along with a breakfast BLT. Everything was fresh and delightful. My wife's breakfast sandwich bagel came out burnt. She didn't want to send it back, so that's on her, but it shouldn't have been able to leave the kitchen that way.

Food was fairly priced and we were seated quickly for how crowded the restaurant was. The pancakes were good (as advertised) and the portions were large... but the service was a miss for us unfortunately. After we ordered, the food came out quickly - but our server was never to be seen again. We even had to flag a different employee down to close out and even then we did not see her again.

Delicious breakfast spot with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Loved how the restaurant is close to downtown but was still quiet and quaint in the morning. The blueberry pancake had crispy edges which was unique and we loved it and their Bloody Mary was perfectly spicy. Our server was kind and quick with the food.

Nice staff. Attentive and fast. The food was good. The grilled muffin had sugar baked in on the top making it very sweet. I'm not a breakfast person, but my husband said the monte cristo lived up to it's popular reputation. The syrup was really good. The ham was surprisingly very thick. Many, many tables and very popular breakfast location.

Beautiful little restaurant! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of their menu items. Food was yummy! I had the Eggs Benedict and a side of potatoes. The potatoes were nice and soft in the inside and the outside had the perfect crunch. The eggs were delicious! My mother in law had the blueberry pancakes and I can honestly say it was the most I saw her eat all trip. She absolutely love them! If you're in the area, it's definitely a must stop!

Highly recommend eating here. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. Turn around time is fast so wait shouldn't be long. Best blueberry pancakes I had in the area!

If you are looking for an incredible breakfast spot in Bar Harbor, Cafe This Way is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with friendly and efficient service. The lobster Benedict was outstanding, but the star of the meal was the blueberry pancakes, which were the best blueberry pancakes I've ever had. Thanks again to the staff at Cafe This Way for such an extraordinary breakfast experience. We will definitely be back (every morning) the next time we're in Bar Harbor.

I loved Cafe This Way! It definitely lives up to the Bar Harbor hype. I got to the restaurant around 8am on a Sunday morning in the fall, and only waited about 15 minutes to get a table. They had a comfy waiting area nearby the host stand. The host also did a great job of making sure you could hear your name being called. We sat in the outdoor seating, which was covered and really a great Maine experience. Service was friendly, and the food came out very quickly. It felt like a Gilmore Girls/Stars Hollow-esqe scene. I ordered the benedict, coffee, and the blueberry pancake. The pancake was one of the best things I've eaten in Maine. It was a perfectly crispy on the outside, thin and absolutely delicious pancake. To top it off there were real Maine blueberries and real maple syrup. It was simply delightful. If you find yourself in Bar Harbor, make sure to go to Cafe This Way.

Our group of 6 came here for breakfast before a tour and all enjoyed our meals. I had one chocolate chip pancake that was really good a scrambled eggs apple juice and my wife had two eggs over easy with toast and like her breakfast. Emma was a good server making sure we all had what we ordered and coming back to make sure all was good during our meal. The prices of food here is very good and with good food we'd definitely recommend it to all visitors to Bar Harbor.

Ask the Community - Cafe This Way

I don't see it on the menu anymore- does this place still have lobster eggs Benedict?

Yes. They have a different menu, like a seasonal one, physically displayed inside the cafe.

    Are the home fries fried?

I believe so--I've posted a picture of them with the blueberry pancakes for you to see.

We showed up on a Saturday at 5 o'clock end of August and got right in at Annex which is the same menu and attached. Waiters were helpful and kind, amazing people! Live music was going on at 7 but we left right before, awesome vibes doors to the outside open so it was basically an open air concept since it was a beautiful day. Clam chowder: super delicious and passed the spoon test! (I like my chowders thick so a spoon should float on top) Bangin Shrimp: seasoning and sauce were bangin! Great stuff and the buttery grilled flamed pita added a beautiful touch Cadillac fries: crispy fries with melty cheese, hot sauce, bbq sauce, chipotle mayo and toooed with bacon. We inhaled these. Mac + rac: fall off the bone rips and the Mac was killer. Mixed in with street corn added a great change up and all went so well together. Larger shells cooked perfectly and super cheesy, this was a great dish. Highly recommend, wish I could have tried the Blueberry Pie because that looks insane, was way too full after crushing the other dishes and washed down with a blueberry beer and an extra dirty martini!

However, we weren't too tired to eat it, so we had the food delivered from Side Street Cafe. So glad we did it that way cuz it was terrific... and easy to arrange ! My hubby ordered their Cubano sandwich while I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his Cubano, which came with a side of mac 'n cheese. The mac 'n cheese was light in flavor, I think because of the kind of cheese used. I prefer more flavor, but it wasn't bad either. My( burger was quite large, and it was really tasty... very nicely seasoned beef patty, and it had all the things I like... cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle.... and catsup. I was very happy. It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. Against my will, I split it with my hubby. Lol. It was a great way to end our meal. (Turns out we never got dinner that night cuz we were so full from such a nice lunch.) Side Street Cafe is definitely going on my radar if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Bar Harbor.

We got right in on a Sunday morning, checked into the front desk and let us sit where ever we wanted. Immediately after sitting down we were helped and got our orders in soon after. One of the most impressive parts was the system the waitresses have with the kitchen staff. They scream the orders to the kitchen and they get them prepped with out missing a beat, no tickets to read off of, just complete in sync. Now to the food.... I almost licked my plate clean after inhaling the blueberry pancakes with the blueberry syrup (a must and was warm syrup.) I was in heaven! So many blueberries, butter and perfectly cooked. Bacon was perfectly crisped, rye bread coated in butter, normal diner scrambled eggs, very tasty fresh home fries, and a delicious hot coffee. I left extremely stuffed! And food was served quick, not much waiting around. The chowder was also delicious and creamy and passed the spoon test (to see how thick it is.) Had a great clammy tastewhich i love with my chowder. Can't go wrong here and oh ya, the bowl of chowder came with a complimentary blueberry muffin! If we weren't too full at all I would have gotten the muffin grilled with butter. Definitely check this place out, great breakfast diner that you can't go wrong eating at. Definitely get the blueberry pancakes with the blueberry syrup!
