This restaraunt is located by the Jordan Pond trail and is a great spot to get lunch after the hike around the Jordan Pond, which takes a couple of hours. Since we came with our dog, we were seated outdoors. The outdoor seating is very vast and you are 8-9 feet from the next table. The views from the restaraunt to the Jordan Pond are excellent as well and make for a good dining experience. Service here is very good and prompt, which you will need after the hike. For food - we got the kale scenario and clam chowder. The clam chowder was excellent and the kale scenario salad was good as well but a little too salty. For the main courses, I got the lobster roll. It wasn't spicy or salty and was simply perfect. My son had the popover pie and he really liked the creamy taste of the chicken and vegetables. My wife and son had the local cider and they liked it. I had the blueberry lemonade and it was very sweet and they didn't have straws, which I didn't like. Overall, I recommend this restaraunt to anyone who is in the area. read more

I knew without a reservation we would likely have quite a wait time to get a table (which we did have to wait about 45 minutes or so), but we had just finished a long day of hiking the Bubbles then the Jond Pond loop so I figured we should try to get a table and at least try out the famous popovers. Plus it's a beautiful area, so why not sit down for a little bit and enjoy a meal? While we waited for our table, we explored the area a little bit and also explored their gift shop. There's plenty to buy, and they even sell their jam and popover mix which we bought both to take home for family to try. Once seated, we actually had quite a wait before someone came to take our order as well then there was a long wait for our food to come out also. After a long day of hiking with a toddler and a baby, I instantly regretted choosing to stop for food here. This is definitely not a place to go after being tired from a long day of hiking or when youre hungry or when your babies are ready to call it a day. If I'm being honest, the food wasn't impressive either. It was just okay. The popovers are nothing to brag about. I have never had or heard of popovers before so I didn't know what to expect but I felt they were a bit burned? I also felt they could've given a little more butter and jam with them as well. After hiking for nearly 5 hours, with very little food & water, we finally made it to Jordan Pond House for our new 2:15 pm lunch reservation, about 30-45 minutes late. We underestimated how long it would take to finish going around the pond loop, after coming down from the North & South Bubbles. Needless to say, we were famished by the time we arrived. The place was crazy busy, even at an off peak time. I checked in using the reservation counter and luckily they were still able to seat us right away at a table inside, despite being late. We were seated on the windows so we had a great view of lawn outside. It took a while for our server to come over, so we ordered as soon as she did. We had low expectations going in since so many reviews say this place is overhyped and overpriced. Maybe because I'm used to poor service and NYC prices where I live, we ended up being pleasantly surprised. The beer cups were large - possibly 20 ounces - so $9 for a draft wasn't bad. I had the adult grilled cheese with coleslaw - sandwich was filling and good. I didn't like their coleslaw. My husband had the BBQ pork sandwich with chips. He thought his sandwich was pretty good too. I don't know if we would have felt differently if we hadn't been starving and exhausted from hiking for several hours beforehand. Jordan Pond House is an iconic restaurant right in the middle of Acadia National Park, best known for its custardy popovers. Reservations are limited, but they accept lots of walk-ins; prepare to wait a bit. While the restaurant is large enough, they also offer outdoor seating on comfy picnic tables with umbrellas. If you don't feel like waiting, they have a cafe where you can order the legendary popovers. Parking can be very tricky, but there are connected parking lots if you're willing to schlep a bit. Despite it being Labor Day, we only had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated for lunch. They have a great gift shop next door that you can browse while you wait. Plenty of Acadia and Maine merch, including popover mix. Our table was outside, which was great for the sun and warm weather, plus a beautiful view of Jordan Pond and the Bubbles, but unfortunately, there were so. many. bees. They warned us about the bees ahead of time, but at times they were a bit much. Our waiter recommended not getting jam with our popovers to avoid attracting the bees, and they're just not as good with just butter. Service is fantastic, despite it always being so busy. Our server was from Germany, and was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The menu is pretty expansive for a national park restaurant, and isn't too pricey for something a bit more upscale. They have plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and GF options, so there's something for everyone. My partner ordered the vegan veggie wrap and thought everything was super fresh. While I was very tempted by the New England Baked Haddock, I opted for something lighter and ordered the house salad and the vegetable chili. The house salad was perfectly dressed and fresh, and the chili was hearty without being overwhelming. Totally filling! There is no doubt that this place is for the tourists. Showed up at noon/12:30 and the main parking lot was full so you get directed to the side lots. Those also packed. Lots of waiting and honking etc. and overall it took about 30 minutes to find parking. There is a good giftshop so you can spend your wait time there or after you eat. We ordered the grilled cheese, the popover, and blueberry lemonade. Grilled cheese and chips were good. Popovers with jam and butter were good. If you get the 2 popover menu item you should know that you only get 1 at a time and they wait for you to finish before getting the other one. Blueberry lemonade was sweet but it had blueberry bits in it which I was not personally a fan of. We sat inside but The location is pretty and exactly as pretty as pictured. If you can take the time to walk down to the "pond" While the line and wait was long where we sat wasn't completely full. Even with that our server was just not the best. After hiking all afternoon -- finishing with a beautiful 3.7-mile loop around Jordan Pond -- we were ready to refuel and had zero desire to drive back into town. With mild skepticism, we decided to try the Jordan Pond House right there in the park... and we were pleasantly surprised! They seated us right away (despite the dinner rush) by a window overlooking the lake -- the kind of view that makes you instantly forget your sore legs. Our server, a friendly and funny student from Eastern Europe working for the summer, was a highlight: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoyable to talk with. We shared the Spinach Bacon Blue Cheese Salad, New England Baked Haddock with mashed potatoes and veggies, Lobster Stew, and of course, the famous Popover Sundae. I visited Acadia and Jordan Pond house on September 20, 2025 from Kentucky. Parking is a nightmare, you have to remember this is a very popular national park. You might circle the parking lot several times even if you have a reservation. I would recommend if you're not hiking and just driving in to get there well over an hour before your reservation to allow enough time to find a spot. If you're hiking in, I recommend you get there very early as possible, we had no problem finding a spot before 9 AM. We hiked around the Jordan Pond before stopping over at the restaurant. I had attempted to make reservations, but every time I tried to call I never got an answer, so we showed up without a reservation. While the line looks intimidating it wasn't that bad. They give you a buzzer and you can browse the gift shop, and I didn't even make it all the way through browsing before our buzzer went off. We asked for first available table, so it could've been inside or outside and we ended up inside by the windows with a wonderful view of outside. It was very nice. I ordered a half sandwich and soup and my son ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. My plate ended up costing about $18 after I up charged the New England clam chowder for the soup. And my son's chicken sandwich was around the same price. We also got the two popovers and blueberry tea. The blueberry tea is very delicious but very sweet. The popovers are bread. Served with jam and butter. They're good and a unique take on bread but not life-changing. My sandwich was pretty basic, it could've been a little more elaborate with additional toppings. And the New England clam chatter was very tasty. My son's grilled chicken sandwich did not look that appetizing though he said it was good. The chicken patty had not been flattened out the way I would have expected, and it almost looked boiled instead of grilled. Would I go here again? Sure it's a great stop after hiking. My family and I have been visiting the Jordan Pond House restaurant for many years. It has been one of our favorite locations to enjoy a light but filling meal after a hike. Sadly on our recent visit, we found that the quality of service and food has gone down significantly due to the new management. We always loved Jordan Pond for their fluffy, warm, and buttery popovers that you select for yourself from the basket with a tea or blueberry lemonade can get with tea or lemonade always. They also have amazing soups and the popover sundae is one of the best treats. Before my most recent visit, I would have given them 5/5 stars, so I am truly sad to write this review. We were here for an afternoon tea sitting. We were hungry after our hike, not at all hard to please, yet we had a horrible experience. The most egregious part of our dining here was that they gave us completely dirty dishware for the coffee and tea. We mentioned this to the server and they were defensive and claimed it was just the dishwasher and all their dishes were stained, but we wiped it with water and a napkin and the so called 'stains' disappeared! It was very disappointing to see that they didn't even clean their dishes, and we could be sharing a cup with the last table. See the attached photos if you are curious... Some smaller things we noticed are that most of the dishware had been converted to paper and plastic utensils, and the dishware we did have was chipped or in bad condition. This place historically has been a refined and more upscale restaurant, so this definitely changed the whole wxperiwnce Previously, one of the great things about their lemonades and other sweetened drinks was that they provided the sweetener on the side so you can add to taste. They no longer do this. You also used to be able to select your own popovers from a hot and steaming basket. Now they are served cold. I believe that they have so many tourists coming through this place that the quality of the restaurant and its food no longer matters to maintain business. We were able to grab a reservation a month or so before our trip, and it was a relief after we saw all the people waiting. They give you an option of inside or outside, and while outside is nice and you get a great view of the pond, I would highly recommend sitting inside. We sat outside and were fine with the bees until the popovers and accompanying strawberry jam were set on the table. The bees went absolutely crazy over it and basically swarmed our table. What is there to say about Jordan Pond House that hasn't already been said. Parking is horrendous, the wait is typically bad and it's generally crowded. That said, the area around Jordan Pond is one of my all time favorites. There's a little of everything (e.g. hiking, biking, water access, etc). You can visit the "Bubbles" or the carriage roads or access some really great stone bridges. You can even come here via the horse stables. Any mountain hike you take offers amazing views of the Cran Isles! Now on to the food -- for lunch faire it's okay and reasonably priced for a tourist destination. Pre-covid I would give this place 5 stars. It's more the insane parking and wait (inefficient system) that this place has become. But yes I love popovers and think it's worth a stop. I think it's such a cute gem for the park. Pop in have some popovers, bigger lunch if you want, drinks. Go on a walk or hike nearby or keep driving. Dog friendly in and outside. Friendly staff. During pretty weather sitting outside on that lawn, you can imagine how the Rockefellers felt way back in the days. Cute gift shop to buy your own popover mix , strawberry preserves (that they use which are amazing) and the popover tin pan. We hadn't been able to go our last 2 years trip to Acadia once parking too full (even in overflow lot) and 2nd time we got there at 3pm wait was 2 hours and they close at 5pm so no more wait list. Wait was 1 hour 45 min. You get a pager that has a minimum radius so you cant venture too far. We checked in twice. Then when told we were next more people seated ahead of us then they couldn't find our name on the system -what a nightmare that was. Kinda ruins the whole waiting and excitement but our server was awesome and made up for it. I wish there was some other way to make this more assessable for others- another location somewhere, popovers to go (they have to go on the top deck but smaller menu no popovers), dinner seatings. Its just become a nightmare and so many people deal with the parking nightmare to come to find out the wait is too long. Maybe a sign showing the wait times for parties of 2, 4, 6 could help (?). It is a neat place to stop. I think it's a must on a visit here, I live in Maine so know I can always come back. This was the worst restaurant meal I have ever had in my life, and I am only writing this review to hopefully spare someone the waste of time and money to come here. My boyfriend and I planned our trip to Bar Harbor and read all the "you have to do this" lists and asked friends/family for recommendations. Everyone said Jordan Pond is a MUST. We came for dinner and were delighted to have no wait, as the reservations were totally full. We were seated on the second floor of the restaurant. Both of us ordered the pot pie popover, something that so many reviews mentioned was amazing (and that sounded incredible), plus a popover on the side so we could try the famed strawberry jam. I also got the lobster stew, since when in Maine and all. I cannot find enough words to emphasize that this food was horrendous. I do a lot of "lazy cooking" at home, and when I bit into the pot pie, the only thing I tasted was canned and condensed cream of chicken soup. Chicken pot pie isn't a crazy flavorful dish by any means, but I have never in my life had to reach for a salt shaker in a restaurant to try to give the dish something other than the taste of canned soup. The plain popover with butter and strawberry was fine. The strawberry jam was also pretty lackluster, and I went from "I want to stop at the gift shop to get a jar to bring home" to "I'm good." I get it; popovers are very plain and don't have much substance on their own. But this is what people are raving about? We had better food at the brewery in town. I had never had lobster stew before, but I was incredibly disappointed with that as well. Being from NYC, we're used to being disappointed when a restaurant is so highly recommended and doesn't live up to the hype, but at least in those cases the food is still okay. Neither of us finished our dishes, and we're still laughing about how awful it was a week later. The menu was dirty, and being in the upstairs of the restaurant felt like being in a cafeteria at an amusement park. I didn't do much research before hand and we dropped in to see what the wait time was on a Saturday which you can image is longer. We had diabetics with us so we chose not to wait an hour 15 minutes. This is also coming into peak season end of June. However so glad I got the lay of the area to figure out how it would go coming back. After checking online that reservations were booked all the way back two weeks but saw they always leave room for walk ins. This is key and very well planned on their part. So we decided to try again on Sunday for lunch. They open at 11 and we arrived shortly after. I got dropped off to wait in line while my husband parked with his parents. Parking is the worst part of this whole situation. The line wasn't bad and we only waited 20 minutes so we had enough time to take a bathroom break & check out the gift shop while we waited. All the food was excellent. I love popovers and these were excellent. Highly recommend the sweet version compared to the pot pie savory but still decent. Everything else great too! I enjoyed my lobster Mac and cheese. Really wish they would have the to go window for the pop overs ready. As I read that in advance and was assuming we would have that option if the restaurant was busy on the first day but host said it wasn't open yet. Being from the south, I had no idea what a popover was. Armed with that information, we stopped at Jordan Pond House after a stroll down the Ocean Path (quick 30 minute ride over on the Island Explorer). We had no reservation, but we were quoted an hour wait to get a table on the lawn, which was just enough time to wander down to the water and back. We all loved the popovers. The bees loved the strawberry jam. The waitress advised us that the bees would eat the jam and leave us alone if we left them alone, and she was right. The lobster popover was absolutely the best thing I ate on this trip. The lobster stew was a close second. The big kids continued their clam chowder adventure and decided this was the best they'd had as well. The little kids split a Mac and cheese. The restaurant seemed like a great idea being so conveniently located around Jordan Pond. After reading up on the restaurant, we anticipated that there would be a line so we managed our expectations. However, after we put our party of 2 on the waiting list, we noticed there were VERY MANY empty clean tables ready to have people seated, or several empty tables waiting to be cleaned for the next dining party. So despite all these empty tables, we were seated after about an hour's wait. Our wait service, timing of food, it all seemed to take a while for us to order, get our food, and to get the check. The popover was just okay - you can probably get the same or better quality popovers from downtown. I really liked my soup, but the whole restaurant just did not seem to be run very efficiently. We had a noon reservation. We were told to get there at least an hour early because of the lack of parking. Got there at 10 and still couldn't park anywhere close by. I got the red hotdog because I like to try native foods and flavors when I travel and it said it's a local fave. It was fine. Nothing special. I got the slaw as my side and it was nice to have a kale veggie and some super greens to incorporate with my meal. Husband said his grilled chicken sandwich was good but didn't blow him away. You didn't accidentally end up in Acadia, because that's literally impossible. Now, that being said, the wait isn't because it's the only place in the area. The wait is because the popovers are that good. (Also, recommend the blueberry lemonade.) It's become a family tradition that we have to shop at least once a trip (and yes, we make reservations.) This is the first time we've had tea rather than the full meal. While this is the first time we've had a tea service without a little tiered tray, it is also the most inexpensive tea service I've ever had. No seriously, the service for two of us was less than the price of one tea service at most hotels. It's probably the most cost effective meal we've had at Jordan Point House. The view is always great... and the walk around the pond before or after your meal is recommended. However, if you're going to eat outside, beware of the seagulls. They're fearless, they want your popover and they have terrible manners. Don't say you weren't warned. read more

We stopped by Jordan Pond House in early September. Though the restaurant was mostly empty, we had a brief wait. We ordered mulled berry mocktails and popover potpie. The drinks were excellent as was the potpie. Particularly being in such a heavy seafood area it was a welcome respite to have some chicken potpie. The restaurant has a pleasant aesthetic and the outdoor seating and landscaping looked nice. We elected to sit inside due to bees and wasps being present in the outdoor area. The building needs some maintenance to the exterior, as rotting plywood in contact with the ground was visible from the dining area. The bathrooms also left something to be desired as they were wet and smelly. Overall, the food and service were excellent and we would have stopped back had time allowed. read more

Very very long line for lunch, we waited over an hour. First we waited in line ~30 minutes to get a buzzer, and then another ~45 until the buzzer rang. While you wait there is a 2 story gift shop to explore. Once we actually sat down service was pretty fast, and we had a very comfortable table outside. A few vegan labelled options on the menu, I had the vegetable chili which was delicious, although a fairly small portion. My parents enjoyed the famous popovers. They also were big fans of both the lobster bisque and clam chowder. My sister got the Maine red hot dog, which turned out to be a very bright hot pink color! Overall the food was decent, but not really worth the wait, although this is basically the only option for a restaurant within the park. They also have grab and go upstairs, but you can't get popovers to go. read more

We came to maine for the week and couldn't wait to check out this restaurant. FYI MUST RESERVE A TABLE OR YOURE WAITING! I got the lobster roll, it was SO GOOD! The salad that came with it was amazing. We got the obligatory popover, it was okay, I don't know why I was expecting it to be the best thing ever lol . A couple of our kids got the meatloaf which was amazing. Funny story as the waitress was bringing the food out, one of the birds stole one of the meatloafs from one of the plates. It was hilarious. The ambiance was obviously amazing, and everyone is very friendly. If you go to one restaurant while you're in maine for whatever reason, go here and sit outside! read more

Fair warning - I'm vegetarian and not really into popovers. If popovers and seafood are your jam, you'll probably like it a lot better than I did. I gave it 3 stars because of the view - we sat outside and it was gorgeous. Came here on our second trip to Acadia because it's the thing to do, right? Being that I'm veggie, I had reviewed the menu ahead of time - minimal choices for vegetarians but I had my game plan ready. I ordered the Blueberry Mojito (was also very glad they had a mocktail of this too as my husband cannot consume alcohol) - these were delicious. Also got the popovers with strawberry jam and butter, because it's what they're famous for. These were lost on me - meh. No better than those elsewhere. For dinner, my husband had the lobster roll and said it was delicious. I ordered the Kale and Quinoa Caesar, minus the Caesar dressing. I added a hard boiled egg for protein and chose the balsamic, figuring it would go well with the quinoa. What I got was unexpected- a plate of raw kale barely cut (and not clean, I had to remove something I'm going to say was dirt, but was more likely bugs), some shaves of parm, croutons, my egg, and uncooked quinoa (yep, just a tablespoon of the grain tossed on - for what? I have no idea). Obviously made by someone who doesn't eat kale or quinoa. Now, mind you, the menu does say "toasted quinoa" so maybe my bad, but what? I also got a cup of the lentil soup which was just okay. These bill was under $100, which pleasantly surprised me. Our waiter was great - Efrain - he was attentive and awesome. All in all though, completely underwhelming. If you love popovers, views, and yummy drinks? Definitely go. Skip the dinner though. read more

I found Jordan Pond House while researching places to eat at Acadia National Park. I wanted to book a reservation but it was full. Luckily, we arrived just after they opened and were able to walk in and get an outdoor table. Dining here was a vibe. It was so beautiful especially since we came on a sunny day. I was happy to try their famous popovers and I liked them a lot. My English partner exclaimed that they were just like Yorkshire pudding. We ordered lobster dishes and they were both great. Dining here is a must when exploring Acadia National Park. I can't wait to be back! read more

The best meal we've had at a National Park! Jordan's is known for their popovers, so that was a must get. Fluffy and light! They also make their delectable strawberry jam on site. Slather on some of that jam with the butter and you have a perfect bite! I washed mine down with the iced chai tea latte and it was so refreshing on a hot, humid day. The two of us also shared the lobster popover, which was amazing! A bit soggy on the bottom from the butter, but I was able to overlook that because it was so full of sweet, chunky lobster. My brother and nephew each got the chicken salad wrap and my niece got the chicken pot pie. They all said meh. My mom got the tomato bisque, and while I thought it was good, Safeway's is better. Ask for an outdoor table overlooking Jordan Pond for the full experience. Reservations are highly recommended via buzztable and open 30 days in advance. If you can, try not to drive there. Parking is extremely limited! We took the shuttle and were thankful we did. read more
