Driving up and around Acadia National Park in Sea Harbor, ME can leave a father and his daughter starving, and the hotel staff and local townsfolk heralded Jordan Pond House as the place to eat. They could not have been more wrong. The iconic location is beautiful, but the food was completely overpriced, mid, and simply not worth the 30-minute wait. Good news: we lucked out with a spot in the main lot, otherwise you're in for a bit of a walk. You can't deny the setting--it's gorgeous. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and we elected to sit inside by a window with a great view looking out at the pond and the surrounding mountains. The scenic view is about all this place has going for it. We came here for their famous popovers, but they were sad--cold, a bit stale, and disappointing. The butter and jam would have been great on a hot, fresh popover, but we've had much better at Popovers on the Square in Portsmouth. My daughter got the BBQ Pork Sandwich, which she actually liked, and we finished with the blueberry bread pudding made from their popovers--it was just okay. As for my blueberry lemonade, it was completely underwhelming; the blueberry puree was barely noticeable at the top and settled at the bottom. I should have just ordered a plain lemonade. The food just failed to live up to the breathtaking scenery. Service was the high point of the visit. Driving up and around Cadillac Mountain can leave people hungry. Getting to Jordan Pond House is a much needed stop. There was a good wait time, 30+ minutes for inside or outdoor seating. It wasn't overwhelming heat but the family elected to sit indoors as it was a quicker sitting. I was very happy to see they have a gluten free bun for sandwiches. So I went with the pulled pork. The portion of meat and sauce were plentiful. The gluten free bun was thick and kept the sandwich together well enough. The chips were a good side with the pulled pork sandwich. Our waiter was Thomas. Very friendly guy. Took our drink order first and then the food. The good was pretty good. The drink I got was underwhelming. The blueberry purée flavor was very light up top in the cup, heavier on the bottom to me. I could have just gotten plain lemonade. Overall, a solid little spot in a prime area. We stopped at Jordan Pond House on a rainy day after summiting Mt Penobscot and bailing on the rest of the peaks due to the poor weather. It was a welcomed break- we were seating very quickly despite how busy it seemed. They told us 35-45 min, but we got seated in 15 (just enough time to get our packs put in our car and walk back to the restaurant!). Once seated, we were waited on very quickly. Our server, Luca, was wonderful. Of course, we tried the popover- it was light and paired excellently with the butter and jam. It did need the butter to add some salt. I really enjoyed the soft interior (almost custard-like). We then tried the brisket poutine. The portion was insanely large! Perfect for two of us to share. My only criticism here is that the brisket wasn't very tender. However, the flavor was good and all of the parts (potato, cheese curds, and meat) paired very well together. We also tried the lobster stew- this was incredible and so delicious. Very creamy and a generous portion of lobster. Finally, we ended with the blueberry bread pudding, which is made with their popover. It was such a unique style of bread pudding, very soft on the inside, which some large blueberry pieces. This restaraunt is located by the Jordan Pond trail and is a great spot to get lunch after the hike around the Jordan Pond, which takes a couple of hours. Since we came with our dog, we were seated outdoors. The outdoor seating is very vast and you are 8-9 feet from the next table. The views from the restaraunt to the Jordan Pond are excellent as well and make for a good dining experience. Service here is very good and prompt, which you will need after the hike. For food - we got the kale scenario and clam chowder. The clam chowder was excellent and the kale scenario salad was good as well but a little too salty. For the main courses, I got the lobster roll. It wasn't spicy or salty and was simply perfect. My son had the popover pie and he really liked the creamy taste of the chicken and vegetables. My wife and son had the local cider and they liked it. I had the blueberry lemonade and it was very sweet and they didn't have straws, which I didn't like. Overall, I recommend this restaraunt to anyone who is in the area. read more

I knew without a reservation we would likely have quite a wait time to get a table (which we did have to wait about 45 minutes or so), but we had just finished a long day of hiking the Bubbles then the Jond Pond loop so I figured we should try to get a table and at least try out the famous popovers. Plus it's a beautiful area, so why not sit down for a little bit and enjoy a meal? While we waited for our table, we explored the area a little bit and also explored their gift shop. There's plenty to buy, and they even sell their jam and popover mix which we bought both to take home for family to try. Once seated, we actually had quite a wait before someone came to take our order as well then there was a long wait for our food to come out also. After a long day of hiking with a toddler and a baby, I instantly regretted choosing to stop for food here. This is definitely not a place to go after being tired from a long day of hiking or when youre hungry or when your babies are ready to call it a day. If I'm being honest, the food wasn't impressive either. It was just okay. The popovers are nothing to brag about. I have never had or heard of popovers before so I didn't know what to expect but I felt they were a bit burned? I also felt they could've given a little more butter and jam with them as well. We also ordered pasta (so the kids could eat too). Nothing fancy there. But we ended with the blueberry ice cream for dessert and we were happy with that at least. First of all, for those expecting New York City quality Haddock service - please reset your brain, you're in the woods in Maine, reset your expectations too while you are at it. You come here for POPOVERS people, not the OTHER stuff. Unless that other stuff is exceptional views, charming scenery and wildlife. You certainly don't come here for the cocktails or expecting your little children will have the best dang grilled cheese of their little lives. Again: popovers. They arrive cold? SEND THEM BACK! Honeslty, this restaurant turns tables like Jesus, so a little grace can be allowed should your haddock not be like Gordon Ramsey himself placed it on your plate. She sent hers back TWICE because it was 'too cold' (we could see it literally steaming) and then got something else she complained about. The scenic setting is about all this place has going. After doing the pond loop trail, we had reservations at 4 pm and sat down to an early dinner. The popovers were great and came with butter and jam, and a swarm of yellow jackets. The hard lemonade and lavender gin were great. The food was barely edible. The haddock should be covered in butter and breadcrumbs. This is really hard to mess up but the haddock was so overcooked and dry, it was sawdust. The kids mac and cheese was penne with what tasted like Velveeta and nacho cheese? It was absolutely disgusting. After sending back the inedible haddock with overcooked green beans, I asked for spinach salad with no blue cheese. Of course they added blue cheese. I had to send that back too. The icing on the cake was as someone was originally bringing out our meals, they tripped and dropped half of an order of potato chips on the ground. No apology and no effort to bring out more. We had to ask if we could have more chips since it mostly ended up on the ground 10 feet away. Also concerning no one bothered to pick it up. Everyone just walked over and stepped in this pile if chips! It wasn't like 3 chips. It was like half a platter.... I went and got my own plasticware from the popover prosecco stand since no effort was made to bring me another fork after sending back 2 plates. Amazing location with good food. Our family stopped in for lunch. We all had popovers that are the Hallmark of the Jordan Pond House Restaurant, slathered with butter and strawberry jam. The lobster roll was very good, the kale salad with quinoa was good, the lentil soup was excellent, the lobster stew was excellent. Just know that this is a commercialized restaurant experience. The food is priced like Disneyland. It was not a bad experience, though. You can either sit and be served by a server or stand in a line and get drinks, including cocktails and beer and popovers. We wanted a little more so we put our name in to get a table and sit outside with our dog Autumn. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, a spinach and bacon salad that had a delicious hazelnut crumble on it. Both items were delicious and we ordered two popovers which were beyond amazing. Because we've been on a lobster kick we did inquire about the pricing and yesterday it was $42 for Jordan Pond restaurant so expect to pay $42 even for a lobster pop over which has 4 ounces of lobster. Jordan Pond House is an iconic restaurant right in the middle of Acadia National Park, best known for its custardy popovers. Reservations are limited, but they accept lots of walk-ins; prepare to wait a bit. While the restaurant is large enough, they also offer outdoor seating on comfy picnic tables with umbrellas. If you don't feel like waiting, they have a cafe where you can order the legendary popovers. Parking can be very tricky, but there are connected parking lots if you're willing to schlep a bit. Despite it being Labor Day, we only had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated for lunch. They have a great gift shop next door that you can browse while you wait. Plenty of Acadia and Maine merch, including popover mix. Our table was outside, which was great for the sun and warm weather, plus a beautiful view of Jordan Pond and the Bubbles, but unfortunately, there were so. many. bees. They warned us about the bees ahead of time, but at times they were a bit much. Our waiter recommended not getting jam with our popovers to avoid attracting the bees, and they're just not as good with just butter. Service is fantastic, despite it always being so busy. Our server was from Germany, and was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The menu is pretty expansive for a national park restaurant, and isn't too pricey for something a bit more upscale. They have plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and GF options, so there's something for everyone. My partner ordered the vegan veggie wrap and thought everything was super fresh. While I was very tempted by the New England Baked Haddock, I opted for something lighter and ordered the house salad and the vegetable chili. The house salad was perfectly dressed and fresh, and the chili was hearty without being overwhelming. Totally filling! After hiking for nearly 5 hours, with very little food & water, we finally made it to Jordan Pond House for our new 2:15 pm lunch reservation, about 30-45 minutes late. We underestimated how long it would take to finish going around the pond loop, after coming down from the North & South Bubbles. Needless to say, we were famished by the time we arrived. The place was crazy busy, even at an off peak time. I checked in using the reservation counter and luckily they were still able to seat us right away at a table inside, despite being late. We were seated on the windows so we had a great view of lawn outside. It took a while for our server to come over, so we ordered as soon as she did. We had low expectations going in since so many reviews say this place is overhyped and overpriced. Maybe because I'm used to poor service and NYC prices where I live, we ended up being pleasantly surprised. The beer cups were large - possibly 20 ounces - so $9 for a draft wasn't bad. I had the adult grilled cheese with coleslaw - sandwich was filling and good. I didn't like their coleslaw. My husband had the BBQ pork sandwich with chips. He thought his sandwich was pretty good too. I don't know if we would have felt differently if we hadn't been starving and exhausted from hiking for several hours beforehand. There is no doubt that this place is for the tourists. Showed up at noon/12:30 and the main parking lot was full so you get directed to the side lots. Those also packed. Lots of waiting and honking etc. and overall it took about 30 minutes to find parking. There is a good giftshop so you can spend your wait time there or after you eat. If you get the 2 popover menu item you should know that you only get 1 at a time and they wait for you to finish before getting the other one. Blueberry lemonade was sweet but it had blueberry bits in it which I was not personally a fan of. We sat inside but The location is pretty and exactly as pretty as pictured. If you can take the time to walk down to the "pond" While the line and wait was long where we sat wasn't completely full. Even with that our server was just not the best. Took too long to even take our drink order, long wait between popovers just not the best service. The food runners were booking it to take food outside but we rarely saw our waitress. Tourist trap. This place is incredibly busy, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. We stopped in for coffee and popovers, but both were underwhelming. To make matters worse, there were swarms of yellow jackets, making it difficult to sit and enjoy our food. If you're looking for the best coffee and popovers, skip this stop and head into downtown Bar Harbor instead. You'll find better quality, a much more relaxed atmosphere, and far fewer crowds. After hiking all afternoon -- finishing with a beautiful 3.7-mile loop around Jordan Pond -- we were ready to refuel and had zero desire to drive back into town. With mild skepticism, we decided to try the Jordan Pond House right there in the park... and we were pleasantly surprised! They seated us right away (despite the dinner rush) by a window overlooking the lake -- the kind of view that makes you instantly forget your sore legs. Our server, a friendly and funny student from Eastern Europe working for the summer, was a highlight: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoyable to talk with. We shared the Spinach Bacon Blue Cheese Salad, New England Baked Haddock with mashed potatoes and veggies, Lobster Stew, and of course, the famous Popover Sundae. Everything was excellent -- my husband ranked their stew (bisque) in his top two of the entire trip, and the Popover Sundae? Pure indulgence, the kind that makes you consider hiking another 3 miles just to justify it. My Lavender Honey Bee gin cocktail was so good I happily ordered a second round. We saw all the horror stories about long waits and high prices- none of this was true. We went in August following a hike around the lake. We got there at 11 and had about a 10 minute line and were seated quickly after. The food was fantastic! I visited Acadia and Jordan Pond house on September 20, 2025 from Kentucky. Parking is a nightmare, you have to remember this is a very popular national park. You might circle the parking lot several times even if you have a reservation. I would recommend if you're not hiking and just driving in to get there well over an hour before your reservation to allow enough time to find a spot. If you're hiking in, I recommend you get there very early as possible, we had no problem finding a spot before 9 AM. We hiked around the Jordan Pond before stopping over at the restaurant. I had attempted to make reservations, but every time I tried to call I never got an answer, so we showed up without a reservation. While the line looks intimidating it wasn't that bad. They give you a buzzer and you can browse the gift shop, and I didn't even make it all the way through browsing before our buzzer went off. We asked for first available table, so it could've been inside or outside and we ended up inside by the windows with a wonderful view of outside. It was very nice. I ordered a half sandwich and soup and my son ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. My plate ended up costing about $18 after I up charged the New England clam chowder for the soup. And my son's chicken sandwich was around the same price. We also got the two popovers and blueberry tea. The blueberry tea is very delicious but very sweet. The popovers are bread. Served with jam and butter. They're good and a unique take on bread but not life-changing. My sandwich was pretty basic, it could've been a little more elaborate with additional toppings. And the New England clam chatter was very tasty. My son's grilled chicken sandwich did not look that appetizing though he said it was good. The chicken patty had not been flattened out the way I would have expected, and it almost looked boiled instead of grilled. Would I go here again? Sure it's a great stop after hiking. My family and I have been visiting the Jordan Pond House restaurant for many years. It has been one of our favorite locations to enjoy a light but filling meal after a hike. Sadly on our recent visit, we found that the quality of service and food has gone down significantly due to the new management. We always loved Jordan Pond for their fluffy, warm, and buttery popovers that you select for yourself from the basket with a tea or blueberry lemonade can get with tea or lemonade always. They also have amazing soups and the popover sundae is one of the best treats. Before my most recent visit, I would have given them 5/5 stars, so I am truly sad to write this review. We were here for an afternoon tea sitting. We were hungry after our hike, not at all hard to please, yet we had a horrible experience. The most egregious part of our dining here was that they gave us completely dirty dishware for the coffee and tea. We mentioned this to the server and they were defensive and claimed it was just the dishwasher and all their dishes were stained, but we wiped it with water and a napkin and the so called 'stains' disappeared! It was very disappointing to see that they didn't even clean their dishes, and we could be sharing a cup with the last table. See the attached photos if you are curious... Some smaller things we noticed are that most of the dishware had been converted to paper and plastic utensils, and the dishware we did have was chipped or in bad condition. This place historically has been a refined and more upscale restaurant, so this definitely changed the whole wxperiwnce Previously, one of the great things about their lemonades and other sweetened drinks was that they provided the sweetener on the side so you can add to taste. They no longer do this. You also used to be able to select your own popovers from a hot and steaming basket. Now they are served cold. I believe that they have so many tourists coming through this place that the quality of the restaurant and its food no longer matters to maintain business. We were able to grab a reservation a month or so before our trip, and it was a relief after we saw all the people waiting. They give you an option of inside or outside, and while outside is nice and you get a great view of the pond, I would highly recommend sitting inside. We sat outside and were fine with the bees until the popovers and accompanying strawberry jam were set on the table. The bees went absolutely crazy over it and basically swarmed our table. Our server was so nice and set up a table for us inside, even going so far as to give us new popovers. As for the popovers, they were fine. They came out hot, and light and fluffy. Okay, we waited in line for 20-30 minutes after hiking about 4 miles to get popovers. Were they worth the wait? Still debating. The view we had while waiting was beautiful. Once we ordered it was really fast. We will be back and make the call about the wait then! read more

Walked in and was told it would be 45 min to hour wait. Was seated in about 25 min. Our waiter Luka was wonderful and informative. The Pond House is nice and inviting.Now the food, my wife had the lobster stew and had the bowl turned up to get the last drop it was very tasty. I had the lobster popover which was overflowing with lobster meat!! We also had two popovers with Jam and butter one of their specialties and they did not disappoint. read more

Reservation is recommended if you want to go here. Wait times are looong. Finding a parking spot was difficult. There's a gift shop adjacent to the restaurant. Went here for lunch on a Monday. There's seating outside and inside. Our server Gerald was very attentive and knew the menu well. Gumbo was very tasty and flavorful. Lobster roll was fresh. Popover was overrated. Got the popover sundae with strawberry ice cream. The ice cream was very good. Before or after your meal, would definitely recommend walking around the property.
