Ate here today for lunch by myself during my lunch break while working full time as a teacher assistant at The 30th Avenue School (Q300). I had brought the banana mama crepe. It was super good, sweet and delicious. The service there was also super fast, quick and attentive that I didn't feel rushed about what to choose a crepe to try for the first time. Very cute tiny spot for grabbing coffee on the go. I really love their croissant filled with feta cheese. It's one of the few spots that offers this item. The feta is slightly salty and crust is super flaky... delicious! The bagels are very good as well. Interestingly enough they use the panini press to toast their bagels. It flattens the bagel and you get a nice crunch in every bite. I've yet to try any of their crepes. I'm definitely going back to try those in my next visit. read more

Banana Mama & 100% Arabica Iced Coffee - This is probably the best crepe place I've ever been to, service was friendly, polite and welcoming. It's a cute little place for locals and visitors, lots of people come here for coffee. It was very busy when I was there. Moving on to the crepes, they were made until golden brown which were perfect. They put lots of fresh fruits and chocolate inside the crepe which were very filling. After the lockdown they started giving free mini bottles of water with each coffee, then added little cookies to the order too! Maybe try the coffee and sweet crepe when you visit. The savory crepes have next to no real flavor aside from cheese. I got the California crepe and instantly regretted it when the most pronounced flavor was from the plain yogurt they smothered. The crepe itself was rubbery and the rest of the toppings were super lacking. It felt like I was just chewing the textures. Normally I don't need to eat foods with sauces but everything was unseasoned so this is one of the few times I would have wanted some kind of sauce. Walked in and its a cramped little spot with about 4 chairs available for seating. Not ideal for more than 2 people. I had ordered a banana mama crepe which brings banana, strawberries, and nutella. There's an open fridge stocked with cold drinks, and for food, they offer a selection of breakfast sandwiches. What's truly sinful from here are their crepes. They make it right in front of you, and you can go sweet (nutella, banana, add walnuts, biscuits or almonds on top), or you can go salty (cheese, turkey, ham, etc). Crêpes. Not really a fan, this is the second time I've ever had it. If you're into the sweet breakfast treat and you're in the area then try cafe to go. I had the black and white crêpe and it was pretty much an 8am sugar rush. They add fresh fruit to the orders and it all seems pretty fresh. One of the best places for crepes in Astoria; probably the best place I ever been to for crepes. And extremely cheap compared to other places. The crepes are made exactly the way they are supposed to be made; unlike other places who pretend that they are experts. This is THE PLACE to go for coffee. I tried the Freddo Nutella Cappuccino and I'm hooked! Coffee really has an awesome kick and is deff one of my favorites. The stuffed crepes are awesome and made really fresh as well. I tend to always "build my own" but they do have a bunch on the menu that sound amazing. I've been going to this place for quite some time now for my freddo fix. Needless to say it's always good. Would give them five stars for that! This morning however, I opted for a large mighty leaf tea. To be honest, the cup sleeves they provide are practically useless. It's so thin, it doesn't help at all. But that's not what I'm writing this review for. I left the cafe and was walking to the subway when all of a sudden the hot water exploded inside the cup and threw the lid off. VERY hot water burned my hand! It's been an hour and my hand is still red and hurting. I don't know how that could happen, I am absolutely sure I wasn't tilting my cup and did not accidentally spill it. So to be safe, make sure they don't fill the cup with very hot water up to the brim when you get a hot beverage. Hope the management gets better sleeves and more fitted lids too! read more

I rarely write negative reviews, but the paninis here are really disappointing. I ordered a custom panini with grilled chicken, cheese, avocado and spinach. The bread they use must not fresh, because it has a really strange stale flavor. The grilled chicken doesn't seem fresh either - maybe it's artificial or frozen and then thawed - either way, the texture is unpleasant. I really wanted to like this place since it's open so late and has convenient in location - but it's definitely not worth coming here if you want a sandwich. Really good crepes. They taste exactly like the ones in France and Greece. I love the one with Nutella, strawberries, and banana, I also added hazelnut wafers. Best idea ever! I highly recommend it. The crepes are good and served hot! They are also big, my friend and I split one. The only complaint about this place is how small it is! my friends and I felt crammed. A surprisingly charming little stand cafe that is reminiscent of cafes in the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris with deep, yet vivid, red walls -- a color I associate with the Moulin Rouge. The latte was a little too thin and weak for me. Adequate for a lazy weekend, but not really satisfying for a long hard grueling weekday where you really count on the caffeine buzz to get you through the morning until you can get another hit. Tucked away on a corner street along side a massage parlor and a floral shop. This tiny cafe is just what 30th Avenue needs. The staff was helpful and friendly, the espresso strong and tasty. I craved an iced coffee and the nice man (whom I've learned is the new owner; Chris) was extremely friendly and made a delicious Greek "Freddo Cappuccino" - apparently, the term Freddo means espresso with ice in Italian. And this was what Chris persuaded me to order. It was strong but the milk/espresso/ice ratio was perfect. He was genuinely nice and I hope that Yelp can convince other Astorians to check it out. I am pleased to review this hidden gem. They also serve Crepes with NUTELLA!!!! The best crepes I've ever had. I usually get the Threesome Crepe (nutella, white chocolate, peanut butter and graham cookies), but I've also ordered the S'mores crepe (Nutella, reese's peanut butter, marshmallow and graham cookies). If you like the ingredients in the Threesome crepe, make sure you try it -- my mouth is watering just writing this review. That's how good they are! I've also tried their savory crepe (the caprese with mozzarella, tomato and basil), but I usually stick with the Threesome and S'more -- what can I say, I have a sweet tooth! The crepes are $9.00 each, but they are HUGE and very, very filling. They definitely don't scrimp on the ingredients and will top it with powdered sugar and cinnamon, if you prefer. The inside is very, very small (no room to eat in, but that's why there is "To Go" in their name), although they do have seating outside. They also have some great Greek items (yogurt and Fredo Espresso, which I'm now obsessed over after a trip to Greece this summer!). The only downside is they are cash only. Bummer because I rarely have cash on me. I felt like I had to knock off 1 star for that - how many vendors with a storefront are cash only these days? I've come here several times over the last few years and they used to be really friendly, but lately, there is one young'ish guy and blonde girl who are unfriendly and it just kills me to order when they are there. They barely talk to you or look at you when you order - it's so awkward. The girl didn't even acknowledge me. And they treat you like they are doing you a favor by serving you. It's so weird. I asked for a smoothie with regular milk and he told me they usually use soy or almond. I was like I know, can I have regular milk. Why not just say yes? Is it a big deal? It was so strange. Then I tipped them like $2 and the worker didn't even acknowledge it. I also got 2 coffees one day the were supposed to be $3 each according to the board but was charged $7 - so basically $3.50 each. They don't have brown sugar/sugar in the raw in packets for take out but do have stevia. The frappes and coffee are good, but I probably won't be back here again because the service is so off.
