    Breakfast Burrito
    Jessica J.

at a base cost of $8.55 for a breakfast burrito, cafe venue piqued my interest. their burrito comes with scrambled egg, potatoes, cheese, salsa, and meat. i added chorizo (+$1) and avocado (+$1.50) which brought my total to $12.44 after tax, which still isn't bad. they gave me an option of mild or spicy salsa, but sadly no part of the burrito was spicy, not even the chorizo. i see the appeal, esp for the price, but definitely not my favorite breakfast burrito in SF. it's a decent option if i'm in the area, but it didn't feel as filling as other breakfast burrito I've had lately either. ordering was also a little confusing for my first time. order at the counter in the back and then pay at the register by the door!

Back in 2004, I was working at 333 Bush St. and this was our favorite salad lunch place. Now I'm on Battery St. and was happy to that this Cafe Venue location was still open. Too bad their Leidesdorff alley location is now closed. The salad chefs there were better and closer to me on Battery St. Today I had their breakfast burrito with sausage, + avocado & sour cream $1.50 = $10.95. O! such good memories! Tomorrow I'll come back and get my old favorites, the chop chop salad or the spinach one. Service was excellent for a counter style restaurant.

I came in here on a Friday morning at 9:30. There was a 3-4 person line but it went by really quick. They have reasonable priced food for the area! I got a bacon breakfast burrito for around $7. It was a good size and tasted great. Everyone there was so nice! One thing that is a bit annoying is that they do not have a bathroom, but the cafe next door does. I would go here again if I was in the area.

I visited Cafe Venue on a Monday morning for some coffee and breakfast, and it was the perfect place because of the many options on the menu, as well as the fact that they were less busy than most of the coffee shops directly on Market Street, because of the Warriors Championship Parade. There was a very short line and wait. We ordered breakfast burritos. The worker asked if we wanted guacamole and sour cream when he was making the order. But he never told us it cost $2 extra for either, so I didn't know till I saw it on my receipt. We also got a plain black coffee and an iced mocha. Both were good, not stellar compared to other places, but good. The burritos were nice and hot, and fresh, but the bacon in my burrito wasn't cooked well enough and it was barely cut into pieces, so it was a bit hard to eat. Flavorwise, the burritos were decent, not one of my top burritos of all time, but satisfying nonetheless. Cafe Venue has a nice inviting atmosphere, with both indoor and outdoor seating. And they have a restroom down the hall out the back of the restaurant, shared with the Mills Building on Montgomery. The service was good, except for the food maker not disclosing the extra cost of the guacamole/sour cream. The employee at the register was very friendly. Overall, I was pleased with my visit.

Oh yes, yes, yes, I know Cafe Venue from their Fremont Street location. I was always in a rush, rush, rush and joining somebody else who was in a rush, rush, rush. Maybe that's why my blood pressure went up when I saw this cafe in a more central FiDi location. But I was in a slow mood because I came in well after the lunch rush to order the $9.29 Asian Market Salad. It certainly wasn't a bad price for the FiDi. It was piled especially high with mixed greens, shaved brussel sprouts, peppers, edamame, carrot, and of course, crispy wonton strips because that's so Asian (photo: http://bit.ly/2TIt9S5). The toasted sesame ginger dressing was a bit much and drenched the salad, but it was still decent enough. The dining room in the back was empty and surprisingly relaxing for 2:30 in the afternoon. I may even come back when I'm not in a rush, rush, rush. FOOD - 3 stars...solid salad albeit pretty wet AMBIANCE - 3 stars...yep, it's Cafe Venue alright SERVICE - 3 stars...fast more than attentive TOTAL - 3 stars...workaday breakfast/lunch FiDi spot suits its purpose RELATED - Lost in the FiDi? Ordered and walked out in the span of 10 min. Very italian deli with tiramisus and cannolis. Tons of italian snacks and puff pastries, and a convenient location to pickup anything from beers/wines to premade cannoli shells and gelato. One thing to note is you cannot customize the sandwich, not sure about the pizzas, which smelled delicious. They only make speciality sandwiches on their menu, but surely can't go wrong with any of the choices. They're packed with a sizeable amount of meat as well as greens. This is probably the only place where the sandwiches don't taste like the store's essence…read more I mean, don't get me wrong, a store's essence from any given deli/liquor store definitely adds unique character to the sandwich and sometimes I want that in a sandwich. But when you want a sandwich that only tastes like its ingredients, Irving Subs is the spot. Their Dutch crunch is famous for being fresh and actually crunchy. Their lettuce is shredded but fresh and crispy. The salt content is just enough to bring out the flavors. And the overall composition of their sandwiches are very well proportioned. You're not getting skimped, but you're also not biting into a mouthful of a packet of deli meat. They definitely know what they are doing. There are other very influential sandwiches at different places in San Francisco but there is a place serving sandwiches with a Korean twist. It also is the main inspiration for a sandwich place in Brooklyn, New York called Mission Social sandwiches. It's located in the Mission District on Valencia street and it's called Rhea Deli & Market. On a Summer stroll in my old stomping grounds I landed at Rhea Deli on Valencia street. Inside you will find lots of bottles of alcohol which usually comes in handy as Rhea Market is a pit stop to load up or re-up on adult drinks to take to Dolores Park. This is the place also to get sandwiches and pair with salty chips like some in SF. They have sandwiches named after famous San Francisco Giants players like the Panda and The Freak #55 which has kimchi. I got the Buster Posey #28 and it had delicious pastrami and packed lots of flavors. It was a bit cheesy like some in SF. Don't forget to grab a bottle of your favorite drink and for me it's the Pinot Noir for Don Juan Pinot Noir and head towards Dolores Park.
