Checked out Fresh Brew Coffee on a Sunday morning -- it was pretty busy with a small line forming inside. The vibes reminded me of a classic deli with dependable, no-frills sandwich options. I was previously a regular customer and frequently ordered the vegetarian Vietnamese sandwich. However, I stopped visiting this location a few years ago following an issue with the quality of ingredients. During my last visit, the sandwich I purchased contained black, spoiled avocado. This felt like a significant lapse in food quality standards, as the ingredient was clearly unfit to be served. However, other Vietnamese sandwich stores continue to serve fresh avacados on the sandwiches. I give this store zero stars. read more

I thought I had reviewed this spot but I guess not. This is my favorite place when staying in San Francisco in this are. Family who runs the place are great and I love supporting places like this. Prices for the food is very reasonable and the Bahn Mi is on point. Some of the best I have had and only $8 at this time. They are usually very busy so obviously everyone else around this area shares the same love. They do prefer cash but accept card with a slight little fee. read more

Get the bahn mi!!! It's so odd but so true that some of the best bahn mi aren't at Vietnamese restaurants but randomly at little coffee and donut shops run by Vietnamese people. The bread is perfectly crunchy and all the ingredients are very tasty and fresh. Sandwich packs a nice punch at a great affordable price. read more

Cute little grab and go sandwich shop that offers coffee, bagels, banh mis, and smoothies. I ordered the Banh Mi combo with extra jalapeños and was pleasantly surprised on how yummy it was. The bread is soft and crunchy and meat was flavorful. The guy who mans the register and makes the sandwich was nice. Interior feels like a neighborhood grab and go, which is something I like. 12/10 banh mis The bread is so fresh - crispy and soft but not so hard that it scratches your mouth. I've tried their cold cuts/combo banh mi and their bbq chicken. Both are delicious! What I love about their bbq chicken is that it's juicy and full of flavor but not burnt! I've noticed the chicken at some other places are too blackened/charred so I have to sit there and pick out all the burnt pieces because I don't want to eat carcinogens. They do get pretty busy around lunchtime and will sell out, so go earlier! My bf went during the week one time and they ran out of bread. read more

Honestly, I would come here every day for the banh mi. Compared to places in the TL, the portion of meat is less per order for around 50 cents to 1 buck more. I don't mind that in my opinion because I like my banh mis on the lighter side rather with good amount of veg which this sandwich has! Unfortunately, the Viet coffee was a bit watery. read more

I live blocks away and this is a San Francisco treasure! I love (who I presume to be) the husband-wife duo. The banh mi was very reasonably-priced and filling. I also enjoyed my iced Vietnamese coffee and have at other times gotten the Sausage egg and cheese on everything bagel breakfast sandwich. Very flavorful and well-cooked. It seems like a real neighborhood joint--there's a little seating inside and outside, and the clientele seems diverse. You have construction workers, tourists, locals, families, older women with dogs...everyone was friendly, not just the staff! A class from the nearby Cathedral School for Boys visited (not when I've been there) and left a Thank You for the owner who showed them how to make smoothies (I need to come back to try a smoothie.) read more

SOLID place in the neighborhood to get morning banh mi & coffee! they serve consistently tasty foods & it can get quite busy--today i arrived around 7:30am and there was a line out the door. i was able to order my grilled chicken banh mi + hot coffee within 10 minutes of waiting; my sandwich was ready in about 7 minutes. thankfully i wasn't in a rush, and it's worth the wait for Fresh Brew Coffee! my order came out to ~$11.50 for the chicken banh mi and a medium coffee w/ oat milk. NOTE: they prefer cash!!! but do accept card/digital payment with a 50¢ fee. i wanted jalapeños in my banh mi; they're pretty good about asking if you want them or not. the bbq chicken banh-mi was hot and tasty, and came with a balancing amount of pickled veggies. bread used was also perfectly fluffy inside with a nice crunchy toasted exterior they additionally serve american-style breakfast sandwiches with bread/croissant/bagels options, breakfast sweets, and espresso-based beverages. i have yet to ask if they have non-dairy condensed milk for the vietnamese iced coffee (will inquire about that during my next visit, because i'm sure their vietnamese iced coffee is yummyy) service was quick and to-the-point andd i didnt feel rushed at all, despite how busy they were. i took my order to-go today but there is (limited) seating available inside and also outside the entrance. 5 stars all around, Fresh Brew Coffee is such a gem of a small-business to have in downtown SF read more

My boyfriend loves this spot, so we frequently stop here for lunch, and it's actually such a gem. They have so much more than coffee, despite what the name would suggest. Banh Mi might be one of my favorite foods, and this spot makes great ones for very reasonable prices. I've had both the Grilled Chicken and Grilled Pork ones, and the baguettes are great and toasted to perfection -- they really elevate the sandwich. They have such a big menu, so I want to try more of their sandwiches, pastries, and smoothies. Table seating is limited, but this is more of a pick-up lunch spot. I believe it's is family-owned, and they're really nice and pleasant. read more

Not too shabby of a banh mi here. Had the combination one. Warm, crispy bread. The real star is the deli meat; very tender as if it was freshly sliced! Downside is that the whole sandwich is a bit bland; the pickled veggies aren't much pickly at all and the meat doesn't have a lot of flavor either. Skimpy on the pate. Also had a cafe au lait; doesn't taste anything special. Very friendly staff. Seems like there are loyal customers here as the staff greeted some folks on a first name basis. Chill small bodega cafe vibes. Overall not a bad spot if you're already in the area and need a banh mi/coffee pick-me-up. read more

Cute little mom and pop shop that has a lot of options when it comes to sandwiches, drinks, and breakfast food. There's usually a lot of people there when I go and space is limited for seating. The family who owns this is super nice and they always know to get my Vietnamese iced coffee ready when I come. Parking isn't that bad. If you want to park in front, there's meters. If you park one street up on Pine, there are no meters. When I come here, I usually get the Vietnamese iced coffee and the Combination Pork + Pate Banh Mi. Beware, the Vietnamese iced coffee is strong but very good! When I'm done drinking it, I feel all types of jittery but I like the feeling. Sometimes I do crash hard with it tho since it is very strong at first. The Combination Pork + Pate Banh Mi is really well priced at $7.49. It comes with a lot of meat and is super delicious. This is my go-to food item whenever I'm here. read more

Ok. So I searched all morning for a breakfast spot on Yelp that was not too far from me in the Financial District, but was quick, but also had the bagel I wanted (lox), but also served coffee. Ta-da! This was the winner. AND A WINNER IT WAS. Great customer service, food and drinks were banging, and modestly priced?! Count me in. I'm going back tomorrow prob. Also, I parked on the street and I paid $0.25 for half an hour. The spot is small with 2 2tops inside and a few outdoor seating options. We got ours to go. Oh! Our expectations were met because this banh mi was full of meat and veggies, the bun was perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft throughout, and the pork was juicy and tender, although a bit fatty. My go-to sandwich whenever I come here, although now I've had it so many times I'm a bit sick of it. Tastes great with some sriracha added. The meatballs are juicy, and the jalapenos give a nice kick. Service is great. The store is owned by a mom and pop and I've had the chance to meet them both. read more

Bacon egg cheese breakfast sandwich $5.99 plus 99c avocado - I got it on an everything bagel. Bf chose a croissant. (I slightly preferred the croissant bc it was nice and flaky). Both pretty big so definitely a good deal (especially for sf). Vietnamese iced coffee $4.50 - pretty tasty. Not as strong or bitter as regular Vietnamese coffee though. Too much ice imo, took up most of the cup. Gets quite busy, and there are only 3 small tables inside. Many ppl grab and go. Downside is that it takes awhile (not a quick option) for your food because I think there's only like 1 lady making sandwiches. (Oh and I think 50c charge for credit card) read more
