The carrot cake roll had some big pieces of carrot lol a bit unexpected because I assumed the carrots would be a bit more finely grated. but not bad! the carrot taste is just a lot more prominent. strawberry shortcake matcha was good, but I think the cinnamon rolls are the real star here. We also got just plain oatmilk latte and brewed coffee as well as some cookies (smores, confetti) and all were pretty good! not to mention the latte arts were perfect and service was friendly! Loved that they have a separate space for little kids to play (which you pay $7 for). Im sure the parents appreciate this - having a place for coffee while also letting smaller kids enjoy. The baristas were very friendly and nice. They were doing their best to get everyone's orders and did not get delayed by how busy it was. I ordered the March special which was the Toasted Coconut Mocha. I absolutely loved it. It was rich and creamy and just as I expected it to be. I wish they had sweet treats that I can eat along with it. I'm interested to see what other monthly specials they have for the upcoming months. I would definitely come back to do work here or have a coffee with friends.

The madeleine was another disappointment: dry and forgettable. To add to the frustration, their policy of not accepting $50 or $100 bills feels unnecessary and inconvenient. The one saving grace, and the reason I'm giving them three stars instead of less, is their financiers. They remain excellent--moist, nutty, and full of flavor, just as I remembered. I truly hope Choc·O·Pain can return to its glory days, because when they're at their best, few bakeries can compare.
