We ordered online for a pickup order on a Saturday around 1pm and specifically asked for utensils as we were planning to eat on a road trip. As we picked up the stapled bag we specifically asked the person if there were utensils inside. The lady (the shorter one of the two behind the counter) told us utensils were included. We trusted her so we drove off without checking the order. After we have driven several blocks away and opened the bag *then* we found out there was NO utensil at all! We had to drive ALL the way back just to ask for utensils. If the lady wasn't sure she should at least check the order rather than being so certain and said utensils were already inside. If it isn't for the great cafe yummy food I would have only given one star. read more

I love this chain for being local and healthy, and this location was lovely. The food was great, especially the soup, and we appreciated the friendly conversation with staff at the register. Came today during COVID times and was so impressed at how they are handling - take out orders one door to enter one to exit, clearly labeled areas to maintain social distancing. I am amazed I haven't yet reviewed my favorite restaurant. Rice and bean bowls: apparently ambrosia. The Yumm bowl (Jazzy in particular) is a brilliantly engineered perfect balance of flavors. The stability of the beans and rice counterbalances the intensity and acidity of the Yumm sauce, sour cream, tomato, and salsa; topped with avocado, cheese, and olives to flesh out the flavor palette. The Yumm bowl is truly a work of culinary perfection. The fresh lemonades are a delightful compliment if you can handle the extra acid, or the chocolate dipped cookies make for an excellent dessert if you can't. The restaurant is usually rather calm and makes for a relaxing (and have I mentioned delicious?) meal. read more

Have been for lunch twice now. The menu is amazing! Healthy, fast and delicious Yumm! bowls, wraps, what they call bentos, sandwiches, soup, salads, and cookies (!) Drinks range from fresh strawberry lemonade to beer (of course) and wine. The entire menu is vegetarian and vegan friendly, and mostly gluten free, but there's also all natural chicken & turkey for carnivores too. My first visit, I ordered the Secret Asian Man salad with chicken ($9.95): a giant platter of organic greens, tomato, carrots, red cabbage, cilantro, gluten-free crispy noodles, and slivered almonds, served with a sweet ginger miso dressing on the side. Very good but seriously way too much for one person to eat, it easily would feed two hungry people. My second visit, I tried the salmon burger ($9.95): a 1/4-lb patty made from wild North Pacific salmon, served on a whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomato and red onion. Instead of mayo, I tried the Yumm! sauce. It's a creamy dressing/sauce made from almonds, garlic, lemon, garbanzo beans, & basil. There is some nutritional yeast in it that gives it a unique taste. Organic corn tortilla chips are served along side and I even dipped them in my Yumm! sauce. Just be forewarned, it takes an extra 15 minutes or so for this sandwich to make it to your table, but it's worth the wait. My only complaint is that the whole wheat bun is a bit weak; looks like something made by Oroweat or something; too similar to soft, white bread for me. It's very close to the Nike campus and the place fills up at lunch time, so either go early or after the lunch rush. The parking situation is also kind of pathetic. The café is located in a busy business center and shares parking with 7-11, Subway, a sushi place, and many other busy shops. The best parking spots, up front, are mostly all 15 minutes only which makes absolutely no sense to me. On the plus side, all their dressings & sauces are available for purchase. Good thing, cuz the original Yumm! sauce is addicting. I'll definitely be going back again soon. read more

Cafe Yumm is delicious, moderately healthy fast food. My order is always a mile long, yet the cashiers always get it correct. No rolling of eyes as I make crazy substitutes and add twenty items to what should be a simple bowl. The ingredients are always vibrant and fresh; you won't find any browning avocados here. My only real issue tends to be that portions aren't always consistent. Sometimes I get a perfect amount of yumm sauce, other times they flood the bowl with it. Now the tofu. The other day I decided to add tofu to my usual order. Holy soybeans. It is so good. Have you ever thought to yourself, "man am I craving Taco Bell's cheesy fiesta potatoes, but I don't want to feel like a fat slob"? Then I have found a solution. Their seasoned and fried tofu tastes just like fried potatoes (more specifically fiesta potatoes). With the sour cream and cheese loaded on the bowls, it's heaven. read more

She would serve us delicious veggie bowls that I now know were pretty faithful representatives of the fare that is served at Cafe Yumm! I was on Yumm's website today, trying to figure out when the new location in downtown Portland will open--I spied the place from my seat on the Max this morning--when I saw this location listed. Seriously? There's a Cafe Yumm! a mere mile from my office? It's been there all this time? I could have had many delicious Yumm! bowls instead of grody fast food? Very tasty stuff and good for you. They have bombers of local craft brews--Ninkasi and HUB. Can't beat that! We also brought home a bottle of Yumm! Sauce for home use. I'll be boppin' down the Millikan Way several times a week for sure. read more

I'll start by saying that I, like most of you, don't know what the hell is in the Yumm sauce. Don't care; doesn't matter. It is freakin' awesome, and it is what turns a Yumm bowl from whatever, layers of quasi-Tex Mex-ish stuff...... into holy crap, I could eat that daily! I like the Jazzy bowl over the Yumm bowl, the difference being white rice/red beans over brown rice/black beans. There are many other bowls, all slightly different, but the basic concept is rice + beans, cheese, salsa, sour cream, veggies (olives, tomato, and avocado in the Jazzy and Yumm bowls). All of this is held together with Yumm sauce to make a filling, healthy meal. I usually get the medium, and I believe it's $6.95...? Totally reasonable prices. Service is fairly fast but not suspect fast, as in I think they are in fact making everything to order, and polite if not overly friendly. If healthy eating was always this good, I'd probably do it more often. 4 stars for now as I haven't tried too many menu items and would like to before I 5-star it, but we are close. read more

Absolutely not the worst place I have visited; but absolutely not the best either! There is a lot that lays underneath the surface here. They are pretty pricey in comparison to what you get. The Yumm bowls which come in small, medium and large may have been designated for the smallest people on the planet. The small isn't a sufficient enough size to feed a toddler so no self respecting adult should stand a chance for the "large". The irony of the dining room is another nuance. The counter is behind the dining room "area" separated by a partition. You order, take a place card with a number on it, grab your utensils and condiments on your way to hitting the corner to hunt for your seat. Most of the tables are coated with a film. They are probably cleaned regularly but if you wipe a table down with a cloth you have not cleaned since the time you opened then chances are the cloth and well, everything it touched is filthy! The last of the atrocities is the vultures who hover over the tables after placing their orders, grabbing their utensils and condiments on the bend and failing miserably to capture a place to sit. The looks on their faces as they peer at you trying to exercise Jedi mind tricks is almost laughable! I understand the passive-aggressive nature of the Pacific Northwest all too well, but to see it in action within these doors is by far one of the most hysterical things I have witnessed on this side of the country. Do you really think if you stare at me I am going to be more inclined to get up so you can sit? Better yet, do you think I am going to eat faster because I noticed you pick the wrong time to break for lunch? Perfect place for pretentious people with little appetites! I'm calling BS on this. it's not healthy..it's healthish. it can be healthy, as in the way i ended up trying to do it, which was no cheese and no sour cream on the original yumm bowl small. the brown rice is fine, avocado? sure, but when you slather the entire thing in a gooey fatty sauce i'm going to need you to go ahead and not call yourself healthy food. alittle for flavor? sure. but the whole thing was driping with this sauce. yes it tasted good, but anything covered in tahini flavored dressing is going to taste good. it was creamy and heavy. the only reason it was mildly ok is cause i got the small. I was disappointed to be sure. next time I'll just get it without sauce. or try a different variety or maybe just on the side. Healthy, delicious, and cheap food is void ...or was void until Café Yumm graced us there presence. After a sea of recommendations I made my way to Café Yumm during my lunch break. Everyone raved about the Yumm Bowl but as I was looking over the menu I noticed they offered it as a wrap... or as I more fondly like to call it, a burrito. They offer all the bowls as a wrap. Needless to say I ordered the Yumm Bowl Wrap it. Even during a busy lunch hour my food was rushed right out, even after finishing my meal I still had a good deal of my lunch hour to dilly dally around with. The ingredients are fresh and the yumm sauce is magical! It comes with brown rice, black beans, magical Yumm sauce, salsa and avocado! The menu describes it as " Simple, delicious, and nourishing" I concur. The bowls come in sizes small, medium and large; A little something for mamma bear, daddy bear, and baby bear! Café Yumm is much needed in Beaverton. I will spend many...perhaps way to many, lunches here in the future. read more

For when you feel like something that is ACTUALLY healthy, CY offers lots of options for different dietary desires (and needs) and it helps if you prefer stuff in a bowl. My personal fave (keep costs down by adding no meat - not needed) is the souper bowl - has your choice of soup (they'll let you try a sample so you can be sure you'll like it) and the b. rice, 'cados, tomatoes olives and dairy if you wish. Some people love the yumm sauce, my hubby cannot go near (severe allergy to nuts) but have it on the side if you aren't sure. I love it when a restaurant does a few things very well, not trying to be all things to all people. Cafe Yumm! is one of those places. Today was my second time visiting with my mom and my brother, and the second time I opted for the medium sized ($5.75) Original Bowl with everything. The brown rice, black beans, chopped tomatoes, black olives, cilantro, cheddar cheese, avocado slices, sour cream and Yumm! sauce are almost identical to the Whole Bowls I used to enjoy on a weekly basis when I worked in NW Portland. It's a simple combination but it feels healthy, filling you up without weighing you down. My only minor criticism is that there was too much sauce for my liking, so next time I'll ask for half the sauce. Bonus points for nice and friendly staff, a spotless dining room, and a selection of local microbrews (including the delicious Ninkasi Total Domination IPA). read more

Southwest Tofu Wrap is a HUMONGOUS tortilla filled to overflowing with chunks of grilled tofu, cheese, avocado, tomato, salsa, and fresh cilantro. It'll fill even the biggest appetite. I'm a pig and even I couldn't finish it for lunch. Tried an African garbanzo bean soup (forget the name) and that was spectacular and full of unusual flavors that tasted great. Anyway, great place. The food choices are rice (Yumm) bowls (chicken is $2 extra), sandwiches (including salmon), wraps, and soups. I tried the rice bowl which came with avacado, salsa, edamame, brown rice, and a really tasty sauce. You can get sour cream and cheese, tofu or chicken. There are other sauce choices like a spicy sauce. For a healthy food, it really tasted good and filled me up. The price was a little more than a bento place, but the food is unique. This place is great. I have loved everything I have ordered here. The atmosphere is easy-going and clean and the staff is very tidy and friendly. The prices are a bit high, which is where they lose their potential for a perfect score. In my case, I don't mind paying a bit more for convenience, and since I live right across the street it isn't a real problem. If you like simple but tasty food, give this place a try. Cafe Yumm is as good as it gets if you ask me. I don't know where else to go for a bowl full of rice, veggies, cheese all topped with a concoction accurately titled Yumm Sauce. Gotta admit, at first I was skeptical of the sauce but now I salivate at the mere thought of it. I can't tell you what's in the stuff (garbanzo beans? sesame? rainbows?) but they sell it in the display case by the register. I've tried several dishes here and my favorite is the Hot and Jazzy because I love the extra little kick the jalapeno sauce provides. My boyfriend converted to vegetarianism about half a year ago, and I've tried to follow suit (I think I'm what they call a 'flexitarian') and Cafe Yumm was the first place we found that made the no-meat transition painless (although you meatatarians can add chicken to any bowl). The set-up is this: Walk up to register to order, take your number to a table or booth and wait for the food to be delivered. Takeout is also an option. I think this place is the best for a fast and delicious meal. I usually order a bowl of soup and a Yumm bowl or sandwich. I would recommend that you don't overlook some of the non-Yumm bowl options.
