Small....tiny place but my mom absolutely loves their home made orange cranberry scones and if you look carefully all around the establishment are knickknacks of frogs...one holding a tape dispenser with it's tongue will crack you up! Terrible Customer Service. My family and myself were sitting at a table of 4 while my husband was in line to order breakfast. After sitting down (self seating) for about 2+ minutes a waiter and customer walk up to me and my son and told us we needed to get up because he had five people in his party and their food was ready. I was in complete shock and confirmed with the server that this was quick service, self seating. She said that was accurate but he (customer) demanded we get up because his family was waiting. I told him he should have waited in line while his family reserved a table like every other normal person. This morning I had the most yummy blueberry scone at this quaint little cafe. Not too sweet, loaded with blueberries with a delightful fresh baked taste. There is lots more on the menu besides baked goods, the breakfast and lunch menu are pretty extensive, I'll have to come back next week! I love coming here for the treats!! About 2 months ago, we ate breakfast here and the food was okay I had a regular turkey sandwich. What I came for was the sweet treats, they have options to choose from for sweets like cookies, scones, cinnamon rolls (drooling) but we also saw the cakes and lemon bars. We were looking at them when a lady was paying in front and asked for the coconut pineapple cake. We saw them cut the cake...oh my goodness it looked amazing! She looked over at us and said "you have to try it, it melts in your mouth." We can't say no to that, sure enough we tried it and, if you're a fan of coconut you would Love. My husband and I had breakfast here on Memorial Day and although we did have to wait, as we wanted outside seating, the wait wasn't terribly long. The food was very good, especially the multigrain toast and fresh fruit. The coffee was just the perfect blend of strong but not bitter. The servers were very pleasant and attentive without being obtrusive. Although we did not have any of the pastries or sweets, the baked goods looked delicious! I've only ever tasted the pastries that they sell here, but they're to die for! Their prices are very inexpensive and their food is quality. I absolutely love their Coconut Cake. I originally went in to buy one piece, but had to go back to buy a second to take home!! The slices are monstrous, two people could easily share one slice and maybe even have left overs. Their chocolate chip cookies are also delicious, they are huge and made with big chocolate chunks!! The only con is that the sell out of their pastries very quickly and only bake on certain days of the week. But I guess that's what happens when you make delicious food :) read more

My mom and I stumbled across Blue Frog when we were cruising the Circle looking for somewhere to eat. We thought, well this place is a little crowded -- so it must be good! It didn't dissapoint. It has a cute old country feeling, and their omelettes are pretty good. What I liked the most about this place (and why I went back) was their homemade orange juice. So yummy! I loved it. Blue Frog is the best spot in the Orange Circle. I'd recommend the Turkey Cranberry sandwich (cranberry mayo is amazing) or the Froggy Club. All sandwiches come with fruit or a potato and a small cookie. They have three different types of bread: white and wheat (which they make in-house) and ciabatta (which they bring in). Their coffee drinks aren't incredible, but they make a pretty wide range of pastries that are. All portions are good size and you won't find a better brunch spot anywhere. This place needs to update in order to survive and compete with other local eateries. My family and I used to frequent this place for weekend breakfasts and pastries. We've been customers for over a decade. In that time we've found that their pastries aren't as good as they used to be, consistency is a problem, and the decor has become tired. I was there two Saturday mornings in a row recently and the place was virtually empty. So sad. With so many restaurants cropping up around Old Town Orange it's time to wake up and smell the coffee. Went to Blue Frog for breakfast in the midst of a "small disagreement" and just the sight of the pastries made her knock off her crap. Need I say more? Having said that, they have Sausage Gravy and Biscuits. Good Sausage Gravy and Biscuits. I mean, we are talking actual chunks of sausage in the gravy and biscuits that do not taste like they are out of a can that "pops." Very nice staff, cute place and fun neighborhood. But... The food is terrible. We ordered Huevos Rancheros and a Rueben. Both were greasy and barely edible. The Huevos had melted swiss cheese atop and was then bathed in a white cheese sauce. Sliced celery was added to give a green effect kind of like what you'd see (but not taste) with avocados. The total effect was like a cholesterol tolerance test. The Rueben had such a dose of grease that the bread fell apart and it had to be eaten like an open-faced greaseberg. He is in LOVE with their pot roast sandwiches! and I have to say, from someone who is not a pot roast fan, it is absolutely the BEST!! We always come during the sweet spot, when they are still serving breakfast and just started serving lunch. We also really enjoy their potato salad which is kind of an amalgam of potato and macaroni salad. I always get the veggie breakfast burrito, well, because I am a breakfast burrito junkie. The salsa is pretty good which always makes or breaks a burrito for me. Their cookies are a special little nugget of goodness that comes on the side of your sandwich. It's a cute little restaurant located in the Orange Circle off of south Glassell. Straight across from Gabby's Mexican Kitchen. I am somewhat a little bored with the restaurants in the circle so the Blue Frog Bakery came to mind... I ordered the roast turkey with a cranberry spread and a cup of broccoli soup. My meal which was $5.99 came with a large portion of a potato mac salad and a tiny cookie. The sandwich itself was too much. I ate only half the sandwich and shared the rest with my friend. First I assumed that it would of been turkey slices. Instead it was turkey that was peeled off the turkey itself. You know like how you pick pieces off the turkey after thanksgiving and make up a sandwich. Well, this was the same thing. It was tasty. The soup was ehhh ok.... Now for the best part. They bake all of their pastries and bread here. Everything is so fresh and good. My friend ordered a brownie cheesecake dessert and it was sinfully yummy..... In short the prices are very good.... I have been coming to the Blue Frog since they opened. The food is delicious, the service is gracious and I love to support family-owned small businesses in the community. I have had them bake birthday cakes - they once made an incredible chocolate peanut butter cake with whipped cream to die for filling - oh my! I always get a cookie or pastry to go and am never disappointed. If you like turkey, the turkey sandwich is the only one I have found in OC where the owner actually makes a whole turkey every day for his tasty sandwiches. The pot roast sandwich is also delicious. If you are ordering to go, she makes the coffee drinks too before taking another order!! What?! Should have another person for that. I lucked out with a table outside, luck if the draw. Very slow service. Asked for water when other table did, they got theirs & we did not, so I asked again. Asked for extra plate, I ended up going in to get it myself. Busy sat am crowd & you have 2 servers?? The regulars that sat next to us even said, you need more help!' Got the breakfast burrito & we split it since it was huge & line was to long to go back & order a 2nd item... The place is pretty good for bakery goods. They for the most part have fresh food. The restaurant part has decent food. The breakfast is the meal I prefer most when I go. The service is alright they aren't very energetic about serving you they just take your order and get it to you. For me I like when the employees are happy to be working and are energetic about their job so to eat somewhere where they are to themselves and look like they don't want to be there it brings down the vibe of the restraunt. read more

I love going to breakfast here! I'm so picky when it comes to breakfast burritos. I get the big froggy without sausage (I know that's weird) and it's seriously one of the most satisfying things I've ever eaten. It's like piping hot when it comes out and filled with crispy bacon, eggs, cheese and potatoes. Potatoes on the side too! I'm glad to see that it was not just me that was treated rudely! I went here specifically for something tasty and sweet and was more than disappointed. We were checking out the items in the case and asked the girl behind the counter, "What is this mousse looking thingy?" and she says (very deadpan) "Mousse". I asked her to elaborate and very unenthusiastically she explains what it is. We order the mousse and a tiramisu and sat down. I can't even begin to describe how DRY the tiramisu was. I'm used to tiramisu that's moist since it's been soaked in coffee. It was as if it's been sitting in this refrigerated case for days, it was actually crumbly! When the girl came over and asked how everything was, I told her (politely), "Actually, the tiramisu is very dry". She looked at me and says in her deadpan voice again, "Oh, I'm sorry" and walked away. WTH??!!! No offer to replace it, no nothing! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. read more

The one time I went to Blue Frog Bakery was right before meeting friends on a Saturday morning for brunch at Felix's right around the corner. I love bakeries so wanted to check this place out. The young girl at the bakery counter was incredibly rude. She had reddish hair and was either a teenager or young girl in her 20's and a complete jerk. The restaurant was not busy but I couldn't help how she ignored me, acted like she was doing me a huge favor and then had major attitude because I couldn't decide on a single piece of cake. It was so obvious she was irritated to be working there because she was just as rude to the customers behind me and only had a smile for a cute teenage boy that came up. Avoid this place. Yikes... Today we wanted to have a nice breakfast is orange and a friend recommended this place to us. Ordering was quick and easy and sat down. She order a California omelet with no meat and a side of potatoes and a side of ranch and I ordered the corned beef hash plate with potatoes. Now the problem starts when we waited over 30 minutes for our food and saw others getting their food that ordered after us. When the food came, we were gives a side of fruit instead of potatoes and the ranch was missing. I went up to the counter where we ordered and was told that they were out of potatoes and said we can wait for them to get back with potatoes.. (really??) This upset us quite a bit because no one asked if that was OK or even said anything and after waiting over a half an hour we were greeted with a wrong order. When I went to eat , the toast was cold, and hash with eggs was luke warm. At this point we decided that this was a fail and walked out leaving our food on the table. read more
