I noticed food that was left from a previous guest was cleaned up pretty quickly. That's a good sign. I did hear one of the cashiers say to a potential customer "I don't want to hear that F*n attitude. Get out of here" Whoa. Did I just hear that? She looked friendly to some of the locals after wards. We stopped by this past week end for breakfast. I had the Machaca and Justin ordered the Waffle with Fruit. Justin said the waffle was nice, but if he had to do it over again, he'd get the whipped cream on the side. I really liked the Machaca but thought the salsa could have been a little spicier. The restaurant is small and fairly busy but not so much so that it is off-putting. I liked that you order at the counter before selecting your table. This place is THE PLACE for pastries and other marvelous baked goods, they have excellent eclairs and very delicate but citrus lemon bars. Their service is okay for a mom n' pop establishment, not bad at all. They have an excellent display case and the place always smells fantastic when you walk in. Cute little Shop near the circle in Orange. My boyfriend and I went for breakfast yesterday and we're pleasantly surprised. We had assumed that it was just a small bakery, but they actually have a full breakfast and lunch menu. We both ordered the vegetarian burrito. The burrito was delicious and came with a side of amazing salsa. The burrito would have been better if the salsa was on the inside because it was a little dry without it. The only reason why it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because they did not have hashbrowns. Instead, they had breakfast potatoes. The members in my party had the cranberry scone and the blueberry muffin. The muffin was moist and had a nice cinnamon and allspice flavor. The scone had a nice white sugar glaze along with cranberry flavor. Both of these confections taste best when warmed slightly. read more

This is a second review for the same place... a few years later. I'm delighted to report that the customer service experience is now excellent! The people apparently running the restaurant are different than the owner/owner's relative we encountered a few years ago, so maybe that's the game changer. My husband and I had lunch here for the first time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A fellow customer in line behind us saw us trying to decide what to order. He said we HAD to order the pot roast sandwich. So we did! We could have split one because they are quite generous with the meat. We loved it! The potato salad was pretty good and we enjoy the little oatmeal raisin cookie that was on the plate. The ice tea was excellent. I got a chocolate chip cookie to go and it was delicious! Super yummy and cute! tried it on a whim while prepping to go antiquing in the circle. It was the perfect solution. Kimmie's had an hour wait as always and Haven had a pathetic brunch menu. Found BFB on Yelp and it was just as great as all the reviews say! The wait staff was so welcoming and doted over my 5 mo. grand-daughter :) You place your order at the counter, they give you a # and then they will bring it to your table. I came here a year ago so it's been awhile although I've been told nothing has really changed. I met a friend (who had never been there before either) for lunch because we had heard good things about their sandwiches. I can't remember what I ordered but my friend had the tuna. However I do remember her tuna sandwich was much better than mine. Don't get me wrong it wasn't a bad sandwich but nothing at all spectacular (hence I can't remember). The desserts looked out of this world. I plan on going back and trying one soon. What I liked most about it was it reminded me of a small town bakery. The staff knew customers names, there was a group of older women having tea and chatting and the phone was ringing off the hook with orders. My friend and I were definitely looked at funny for walking in (but in a good way....if that makes sense). AHH This is place is soooo good. I've been here twice so far, and the food has been great. The first time I got the coconut cake which has pineapple bits in it. Pina Colada anyone? YUM! Today I got the Turkey sandwich with cranberry spread on their homemade white bread. OMG the bread is SOOOO insanely delicious. The turkey itself was a little too chewy for me, but the flavors were wonderful. It came with melon (or potato salad) and a peanut butter cookie. The cookie had real whole peanuts in it and was super chewy. GOOD. I also was tempted into getting the chocolate dipped macaroon. AHHHH IT WAS SOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!! Not super sugary like the ones I always had. It's perfect in it's sweetness and it kind of crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside. YUM. Def gonna come again. read more

Food and service were great! I ordered a chicken panini and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of ingredients. Sandwiches come with your choice of fruit or potato salad, and a small (but delicious) cookie. The servers were prompt and attentive, even though you order and pay at the counter. My only complaint is that the place was extremely smoky, to the point where my eyes were stinging after sitting in the cafe for 20 minutes or so. I am not sure why it was so smoky but it did make my lunch slightly uncomfortable. Regardless, new yummy sandwich spot for the win! read more

Ive been coming here for years and years never once had a bad meal here- it is consistently excellent, the staff is friendly and the food is amazing. Some of my fav things to get here are their meatloaf sandwich- I don't even like potato salad but theirs is phenomenal, and their almond croissant. They have great salads, breakfasts and all of their bakery is made fresh daily. During this scary time with COVID 19- i have been trying to patronize BlueFrog to help them stay afloat but have found their hours to be unpredictable- I hope you all consider supporting this small business during this time! read more

Listen, this is a cafe. The people that run it (or seemed to be running it, it's not like I've gone over their financial statements) were a little stuck to that fact, if you ask me. We went there for a Sunday breakfast. Which is a great time for breakfast if you're wanting breakfast, but not so much a great time if you're trying to get a table near the plaza of Orange. The phrase, "We don't have any tables" came off a little rude. They made it seem as though the concept of managing a queue for tables or creating a host station had never been invented. The wait staff was friendly and awesome, though. Our waitress totally psyched Harmonie out with a joke about her ink, which was ballsy and fun. And we eventually got a table and convinced the lady at the register to take our order. I guess if I could say anything to them it would be something about managing waiting for tables and cushioning their statements with nicety and perhaps offering to-go orders to people that turned up when all the tables were full rather than sending them automatically away. We are in a recession/depression after all. Well, I say I would say that to them, but I was right there and I didn't say it. Thank God for the anonymity and power of the Internet. Anyhow! Talk about the food, for crying out loud. I had the huevos rancheros. Those are my gold standard for Mexican places, although I rarely have them at regular breakfast joints. But I'm glad I tried them here, because they were pretty tasty. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the ranchero sauce was exactly the right flavor profile, but not spicy enough. There were beans where I didn't expect beans, and the potatoes were not crispy enough for me (they never are) but it was fairly tasty. Harmonie had a breakfast burrito, and it was a perfect example of its breed, but not exactly cafe fare. Especially when we were treating the cafe as a sit-down restaurant. So, the Blue Frog cafe in Orange is worth a shot if it's not a busy time (or if you want take-out) and you've already tried most of the other restaurants in Orange and the Filling Station has too long of a line. read more

Rating for lunch only: Our office is nearby so we frequent the circle in Old Town Orange for lunch and Blue Frog Bakery is a strong contender amongst the great mom and pop shops around the area. What we ordered: **Tuna Salad on wheat **Roasted Turkey sandwich on wheat - my coworker is in love with with this sandwich and the cranberry-mayo spread it comes with **Froggies Philly - very delicious, very large and quite a heavy sandwich (you may want to split this with someone and order a soup on the side) Bottom line: Blue Frog Bakery blends right in with all the other superb mom and pop shops sprinkled around Old Town Orange. Hit or miss... I have had some really great experiences & many poor experiences. First off, I agree with most of the other reviewers...please work on your Customer Service. The male owner who answers the phone is so rude & rushed, leaves a very bad first impression to the willing customer. If so busy, have somebody else answer the phone (or work on phone skills). I have hung up on him so many times, cause I just dont want to deal with him. & they (the entire staff) seem so annoyed with customers & being busy in general...which should be a good thing for a business owner. Also their hours are so inconsistent, I find them closed when their hours say they should be open. Now for the food: Love the chocolate chip cookies & croissants! The Big Froggy Breakfast Burrito is awesome! These items have never failed me! Sometimes the salads are good. The quality has gone down, the lettuce is often wilty & rusty. Once I ordered a tuna salad, & it clearly was somebody elses that had been sitting for a long time, that I threw it away without taking one bite. I hate complaining at restaurants, so now I have my boyfriend do it for me. :) I've tried both wraps, & would never order them again. I nearly broke a tooth when I found several bones in the chicken salad, which they claimed they receive all their chicken bone-less. Then WHAT was that?! gross... Overall the food is inconsistent like the service. I will go here again, but it is never my first choice. read more

Blue Frog Bakery is our go to for breakfast and lunch, They allow dogs outside and the service is so friendly! Don't understand the whines about bad service, We have always had the utmost attention and care. Their sandwiches are the best. My husband loves the turkey on ciabatta with a side of potato salad..yum! I love their egg dishes with hearty mutigrain bread. The desserts deserve their own page! They made huge cupcakes for our renewal of vows and the chocolate rasberry and lemon cupcakes were a hit! Must try the peanut butter or chocolate truffle cookies...so moist and delicious! My friends rave about this place all the time. So I eagerly awaited my first experience there. The decor was simple, almost shabby. The wait staff wasn't very friendly on first approach, but i teased out a few smiles by the time i left. i was hungry but unfortunately the pastries didn't look all that appealing. In fact they looked over buttered, greasy, and sad. We were in a hurry so I decided to just get a nonfat Chai tea latte to go. Best decision. It was a wonderfully tasty chai. It was a bit on the spicy side, which I prefer. The right amount of kick to the right amount of sweet. This is a hidden gem! If you're from Orange or just visiting the area, this place is a must! Right when you walk in you can smell the delicious freshly baked goods and feel welcomed! The food is Amazing! Super delicious! I ordered the machaca burrito and wow was I blown away, nice portion and I'm 215 lbs! Lol! It was full of flavor and every bite had a nice portion of peppers and beef! So I recommend this! Blue Frog is probably one of my favorite restaurants in the Circle of Old Towne Orange. Although the women who work there can be a little short or unpleasant at times, their food makes up for it. I've been there several times and have ordered many things from their eclairs to chicken pot pie to breakfast machaca. Almost anything in their dessert window counter will be amazing. I've tried all of them! Their servings are pretty big and their prices are great compared to the other restaurants in the Circle. For breakfast, I recommend the breakfast machaca. It never dissapoints! For lunch, I recommend the chicken salad sandwich, as long as you don't mind mayo. read more
