Shannon and I checked this place out last Sunday afternoon. Absolutely the best Lemon Tart I have ever eaten!!!! Really lemony and tart not to sweet like many being made now a days!!! Great chocolate croissant light and flaky. The cookies were absolutely awesome too!!! Service was good the girl behind the counter was very helpful in helping us to make our choices. I would give this place five stars but the last two times I've gone in, they have steamed my milk first before pouring it over ice for my Iced Chai and my Iced Mocha. It's an iced drink- you don't need to heat the milk first; it's already cold! Their staff definitely needs to be more knowledgable on the coffee bar recipes. The staff and the pastries/desserts are sweet - I just wish they stayed opened longer into the evening. My Dad has been bringing me here since I was a kid for a cold glass of milk and their famous elephant ear pastry (which they don't have every day but you should always ask). Great for a stop to grab a sweet treat in between a long day of antique shopping or for an early weekend breakfast. When I say early its because I love bisquits and gravy but it seems to be the thing they run out of first on the breakfast menu. read more

I went back to try a few more of their desserts. Here's what I think: BOSTON CREME CAKE: This was good but I've had better. The cake is a little on the denser side of cake texture but is moist; the creme is sweet but not boldly sweet so it is refreshing, the chocolate icing on top is strongly sweet that it's flavoring over powers the the cake and cream. You may need to slice off a bit of the icing to balance each bit of the cake. CARROT CAKE: I didn't like it. The cream cheese frosting did not have any cream cheese flavoring at all. Way too sweet. Maybe it is because there is more frosting than cake. The cake is not fluffy enough. Can't taste the carrot. There is a hint of cinnamon and a few raisin. Can't taste the freshness in the ingredient of this cake. Wouldn't recommend the carrot cake here. read more

If you've read some of my other reviews you might know that I'm a sucker for breakfast. I haven't even actually tried any of the baked deserts or pastries here, only the breakfast. The Big froggy Burrito is D-Licious! I love the veggie burrito as well. The only downer is that they always seem to run understaffed which leads to inadequate service, other angry customers, and irritated workers. I used to work in the food service industry so I am well aware of how stressful the work can be so I am very patient and understanding of service and order mishaps of which occur just about every time I come, but it's a cute place, and I like the food so I come back anyway I hope they can staff some more people during a shift so the employees aren't so stressed to their limits. I dont understand why a restaurant would put waffles on the menu if they dont corectly make them. I ordered the waffles combo, but the waffle came out caky. They used pancake mix battewr and formed into a waffle. I was too hungry to request for anything else and dont plan on coming back. read more

I've been to this restaurant twice before. I wasn't a huge fan to be frank. I understand the whole theme is a mixed of New Orleans/ French Quarter that looked like a hole in the wall type of eatery. However, my overall experience wasn't the best since the cashier both times was less than helpful. She didn't know what was in the food she was serving nor really seem to care much for her own food. The food overall was rather decent, something that I could have easily made. I wouldn't really eat her if again, if I had the choice too. read more

You have to try the spicy chicken philly on ciabatta bread, it is to die for! I also love their potato Mac and lemonade. Sometimes if you're lucky they give you free cookies. Wow had a terrible experience here! Me and my friend came in here about a week ago since it looked interesting. So we come in and wait in line behind an older couple who was taking forever to communicate what they wanted. The menu contains a lot "clean" food items which is good and all but I wanted French fries with my veggie sandwich and they do not have fries included at all in their menu. So then while we were waiting to order, 2 guys come in and wait behind the couple on the other side even though it's obvious we are next. Then the cashier looks at the both of us and asks "So who's next? I wasn't paying attention". That's a turn off. So we went up and ordered, if you want a soda it comes in cans. We saw a fridge behind her with the cans so we figured she would give us those, but instead she left us hanging confused, I found out there's another fridge on the other side of the counter that is not visible unless you search around. So we got our number and sat down, one of the workers served us our food and I got thousand island ranch for my salad. The ranch looked watery and old, so when she came back to serve the table next to us I asked her if I could get another serving because it didn't look right, she just looked annoyed and inconvenienced. She took the cup and left with a huff. I got the ranch back looking better and dived into my sandwich. After only finishing half of my sandwich I taste something sharp and hard that can't possibly be something natural. It wasn't, it was a long PIECE OF PLASTIC. I went up to the cashier and showed her what I found, she offered to make me a new plate with a bigger sandwich and no plastic. I just took it because I was hungry. She was sweet about it at least. The sandwich was okay but the salad isn't good. The lettuce looked old and withered. NOT COMING BACK. read more

They make very good food. Their baked goods are their best feature, but be ready for something that will stick to your belly. Orange is old school so don't expect any tree hugger health snacks. Blue Frog Bakery is located just off the circle in Orange, Ca. I have had their breakfast burrito, Carne Asada burritto, as well as several of their sandwiches. I am always satisfied with there food, as it usually has a lot of flavor and is filling. I gave this place only three stars because of their customer service. When you walk in there is a counter that takes up half of the bakery. It is awkwardly placed so there is no real direction as to where the line would start. Many times I have been in there and lined up to order, only to find people start lining up on the other side of the counter. The girl that usually works the counter isn't assertive enough to let people know they are not actually next and usually just stares at them awkwardly. She also has very bad people skills. One time she was making conversation with the girl in front of me asking what she studied at Chapman University. When the girl said "P/R and Advertising" the girl behind the counter says "oh that sounds boring". That kind of thing is just something you should never say to your customers. I will continue to keep eating at Blue Frog regardless of their weird counter girl. I will probably just have to start messing with her cutting people left and right in line, and start a conversation with her about how boring her life is. read more

My wife and I were exploring the old town of Orange today and suddenly the food monster appeared so we avoided his attack and jumped into the first place with food we came across. What a find, sandwiches, salads and amazing pastries! We had a Chicken Salad sandwich and what they call their side salad which was huge and came with bread, also the sandwich came with fruit and a cookie, we got two drinks and our total was $14......AMAZING for quality fresh food. While we were eating our table server (they don't have waitresses) asked us if we had eaten here before and we said no but were enjoying the food. She came back with a fresh fruit tart and said it was on the house!! That would never happen in LA! I have been coming to Blue Frog since the day they opened. The food and good service keeps me coming back. The pastries are to die for. The food portions and prices are great! The Pot Roast is one of my favorites but all the sandwiches are tasty. The staff is friendly and the owner Mike and his family are really nice, down to earth people. LOVE THIS PLACE! If you come to Orange it's definitely a restaurant you want to visit. read more
