Tried this little cafe for the first time Saturday morning for breakfast, first impression walking is was the Cuban music, warm inviting interior, large menu, saw a patron eating and went back to ask what it was he was eating because it looked great, he told me & that's what I ordered -Ropa con Papa, my wife had the Tres Leches pancakes, both were absolutely delicious! Parking lot was filling up, but we were able to find a spot to park in the plaza. This restaurant is pretty small with few tables inside and outside. I decided to order the iced Cafecito. I didn't realized the default option was hot. I asked the staff if it was possible to make the drink iced instead and she was able to do it! As for the food, I decided to get the Chimichurri sandwich. It was delicious and had a good portion to it. One of my friends got a plate and said it was also delicious! Update of BLACK GRIME ALL OVER FOOD I went in there and the girl who answered the food I presume stopped me from going in and said " no no you got it all wrong " or something along the line. Stumbled upon this place on a drive through Calabasas and needed to try it! I love Cuban food but have recently stopped eating beef so I was pleased to see some veganized classics like the vegan vaca frita. Met a friend here for an early lunch on Thursday. The park lot is small and kind of a nightmare so try to find some street parking past it. It's a casual spot with tables inside and a few outside. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. Staff is super nice and recommended the steak saltado plate. My friend got the shrimp dish. It was really flavorful and delicious! Portions are quite big too. I also got a chai latte and it was easily one of the best I've had (and I've had a LOT). So happy to have found this delicious gem. I'm afraid to post another 5-star review for a small local place. Because a gem could turn into coal as soon as the masses discover it and create havoc with long lines, more complaints, and all the other negatives once yelpers find out about it. I love this place because its not super popular and the service and food is so great. But they deserve this review. The prices are surprisingly great compared to all the others riding the bandwagon of increased prices that aren't 100% justified. Their coffee and lattes are also very good. Its tucked away from the more busy places in Calabasas. We had a party of 7 and I will not recommend Cafecito as a dine in experience. We were able to get a table, they do not do reservation. We made it work but as a group of more than 4, it could be tough if the tables are not available and it is first come basis. BUT the food was AMAZING!! Just the perfect Cuban food yu can have. I thoroughly enjoyed my ropa vieja with white rice and plantains. It was a great size, I had leftovers so I was content. I wish they had appetizers such as potato balls or empanadas. Not overwhelming but complimented the flavorful and plentiful pork. Chefs kiss. Sandwich was completely devoured. The exotica salad was also very nice with lots of good flavors. Finally decided to come here for lunch. It's located in a small plaza with a small parking lot. The entrance and exit is just one way/lane, so just make sure you are going the correct way. The cafe is small and dark inside. You order from the cashier and grab a table afterwards. There are a couple of tables outside, but it's summer and I'm not about to melt outside. The cafe was nice and aired conditioned. I really appreciate that because this time of year, a lot of restaurants try to save on the power bills, and will either not turn on the a/c or set it at a higher temp. Ordered the lechon platillo for $16.49. The food came out in about 5 minutes. At first, I thought that the food amount was on the small side, but then as I started eating, I noticed they give about 5-6 slices of pork. Though thinly slice, I thought it was sufficient enough. Everything on the plate tasted great, though, I thought the pork was a little bit on the salty side. The plantains was really good and I would have liked more. it's soft and sweet with a little bit of burnt sugar on it. Just the way I like. Next time I come here, I will definitely order plantains on the side and try the cuban sandwich. Service was great and courteous. They also play Cuban music which definitely gives it a festive vibe. Occasionally, me and my friend would find the resturant full, but we waited for a seat. Parking may also be small, but you'll find your way either inside the lot or on the street.
