Some girlfriends and I stopped by here for a late lunch today and wow, what a great little spot! Cafecito is tucked away in a little shopping center. Based on the name, you might think it's merely a coffee shop but they have incredible food. I didn't get to try any coffee but saw plenty of customers order coffee so I'm thinking it's as good as the food. You order at the counter and your food is brought out to you to your table. I asked for a recommendation and the pollo chimichurri plate was suggested. The entree came with rice, black beans, and plantains. My friends got ropa vieja and tilapia criolla. Both of these things plates came with the same sides as mine. So while the food was delicious we were also impressed with the helpful and friendly service. This place makes me dream of going to Cuba to experience the rich culture and taste all the great flavors of their food. Ambiance: Quaint cafe with vibrant atmosphere. The music feels like it takes you to a different place and I love it. You can't help but want to dance. Inside and outside seating available. We've been sitting inside because ourside its been a bit hot but it'll be nice once the weather cools. Seating: order first then seat yourself. Service: Excellent. Always excellent. Since we've been coming here they have been so welcoming. We love it here. Baby Tip: They were able to accommodate our stroller because it's small but we make it work and we're grateful. Bring a carrier too so you can eat if your little one won't stay still in the stroller. My baby girl was under 6 months so she likes to be a part of things when we eat ... And sits in our arms or carrier. Side note: they were so welcoming to us having a baby, I appreciate that so much as it makes our dining experience exponentially better to know we aren't a " hassle". My choice: steak chimichurri platillo - flavorful. I dream of this plate. Flank steak drizzled with the perfect mixture of chimichurri+ black beans + rice + platanos. Ooh it's a whole meal and dessert. I usually have enough to take some home! I should try other things on the menu but I just love that this is consistent. Cafe con leche- love this flavor. Creamy latte. Not overpowering. Matcha latte sweet and yummy. Love me a sweet matcha. Now for matcha enthusiasts I'll say this is definitely more of the sweet premixed matcha with a hint of vanills rather than the earthy flavor. I liked it cuz it's sweet. Nice little hole in the wall we stopped by on our way up to Ventura to escape the heat. It wasn't too crowded and ordering was simple, just order at the front and take a seat and food was brought to us. Gf ordered the Ropa con papa and I got the Abuelita and both were yummy! The cut up churros on the small pancake was nice and filling and balanced well with the cortadito I got! A great breakfast stop along the way. Absolutely fantastic A+ Service 10 out of 10 even though you really don't have a waiter waiting on you at this location their staff always check on you and make sure you are good and satisfied with your meal. The quality of the food is superb with a arousing super charged cafe Cuban style. We had the sweet platanos The palomilla bisteak with Argentine style with chimichurri onions. The out come they have a South American flavot fusion with comida criolla better than being in Habana. The owner Phillip serves full portions which are very generous. Tried this little cafe for the first time Saturday morning for breakfast, first impression walking is was the Cuban music, warm inviting interior, large menu, saw a patron eating and went back to ask what it was he was eating because it looked great, he told me & that's what I ordered -Ropa con Papa, my wife had the Tres Leches pancakes, both were absolutely delicious! My friends and I found Cafecito while we were in the area and decided to give it a try. We arrived around 11 AM on a Sunday and it was still busy. Parking lot was filling up, but we were able to find a spot to park in the plaza. This restaurant is pretty small with few tables inside and outside. I decided to order the iced Cafecito. I didn't realized the default option was hot. I asked the staff if it was possible to make the drink iced instead and she was able to do it! As for the food, I decided to get the Chimichurri sandwich. It was delicious and had a good portion to it. One of my friends got a plate and said it was also delicious! I love Cuban food but have recently stopped eating beef so I was pleased to see some veganized classics like the vegan vaca frita. Because a gem could turn into coal as soon as the masses discover it and create havoc with long lines, more complaints, and all the other negatives once yelpers find out about it. I love this place because its not super popular and the service and food is so great. But they deserve this review. The prices are surprisingly great compared to all the others riding the bandwagon of increased prices that aren't 100% justified. Their coffee and lattes are also very good. Its tucked away from the more busy places in Calabasas. I was looking for a restaurant that my coworkers and I could dine at as a party of 7 could stop by and Cafecito was the place. We had a party of 7 and I will not recommend Cafecito as a dine in experience. We were able to get a table, they do not do reservation. We made it work but as a group of more than 4, it could be tough if the tables are not available and it is first come basis. BUT the food was AMAZING!! Just the perfect Cuban food yu can have. I thoroughly enjoyed my ropa vieja with white rice and plantains. It was a great size, I had leftovers so I was content. I wish they had appetizers such as potato balls or empanadas. Pleasant lunch experience! In the area, spotted this place tucked into a small business area. I imagine parking could be tough but I came at a good time. I love a good Cubano sandwich for lunch and was in the mood for pork. I went with my gut. Always go with your gut. My Cubano was awesome. Perfectly toasted bread. Tangy mustard with crunchy pickles. Not overwhelming but complimented the flavorful and plentiful pork. Chefs kiss. Sandwich was completely devoured. The exotica salad was also very nice with lots of good flavors. Met a friend here for an early lunch on Thursday. The park lot is small and kind of a nightmare so try to find some street parking past it. It's a casual spot with tables inside and a few outside. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. Staff is super nice and recommended the steak saltado plate. My friend got the shrimp dish. It was really flavorful and delicious!
