    Fried Calamari
    Mackenzie O.

My favorite Italian in Nashville! I'm from the East Coast so I'm pretty picky about my Italian food but everything I've tried. Here is amazing! We got fried calamari, which is really crispy and a great portion. Also, I love the Ragu has so much flavor! Service is always great and they're so friendly such a cute neighborhood spot!

Cafe Nonna has quickly become one of our favorite spots in Nashville. We celebrated a friend's birthday here last night and had a wonderful experience. The spritzes and martinis were excellent, and the calamari, short rib ragu, and fresh pasta dishes were all delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a warm, homey feel that makes you want to stay awhile[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and experience. We'll definitely be back!

Wanted to love this place because the service was genuinely warm and attentive, but the food felt more Italian-American than authentic Italian. Most dishes leaned very heavily on garlic, which overwhelmed the sauces and ingredients. The lasagna also used ricotta, which may work for some people, but wasn't my preference. The pasta itself was decent and portions were fair, but overall the flavors felt dated and a bit one-note. That said, the staff was kind, welcoming, and probably the best part of the experience.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We had a perfect anniversary dinner at Caffe Nonna :) from the ambience, to the service, to the food, everything was wonderful![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server Isaac was very kind and attentive, he offered us anything we could've needed and made our anniversary feel very celebratory. The owner stopped by our table and even gave us a little bouquet to celebrate. Every part of our meal was delicious. The zucchini medallions were super fresh and crispy on the outside. The tomato bruschetta was perfectly balanced and fresh. Our pastas were cooked wonderfully and flavorful! [[HIGHLIGHT]]A couple things to note- the tables are pretty close together so be prepared to be close to your neighbors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also come a little early to search for street parking. But neither of these things will hinder your experience at Caffe Nonna, it's very much worth coming in for any occasion!

Can't express enough how much we love this place! Been coming here forever and the service and food is always phenomenal. The owner is super nice and comes to talk to the tables often. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cozy and authentic Italian spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    1. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute little place and the only bad thing legit is parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm not kidding. ([[HIGHLIGHT]]Our table was rocky which always annoys me but I'll explain why that doesn't matter[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]) 2. The waiter we had was just phenomenal. Genuinely one of the friendliest, attentive and kind waiters I've ever had. Shout out to Byron who is killin it and deserves all the praise and a raise haha! 3. The food. Husband ordered lasagna bolengese and I had a make your own pasta (sun dried tomato sauce, chicken, spinach, mozzarella and sun dried tomato's) all of which was just divine. Delivioussssss crazy crazy good ok? THEN our waiter hooked us up the THE BEST TIRAMISU IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE OK? My husband hates tiramisu and he ate more than I did!!! It was just pure euphoria. Go here. Support this place and enjoy a delicious bite of true Italian cuisine

Honestly it's been a few months since I ate here, and I didn't realize I hadn't left a review. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is small, that's probably the only negative I can think of, mainly because it's hard to move around, and the bathroom feels like it's right next to the tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Granted there's nothing they can do about the space, but just so people are aware in advance if they have issues with feeling cramped. The food is delicious, I had the Seafood Angelina, and it was so so good. It was rich and perfectly seasoned, I can't even remember needing to add salt to it. My friend had the Lamb Shank, and it was literally falling apart. He said it was amazing and had a hard time stopping eating it, but it was a massive amount of food so he had to get a to-go box, as did I for my seafood. We were far too full to get dessert but our waitress gave us a complimentary tiramisu to go, I'm not sure I was impressed by it, but I didn't eat but a bite or two from it since it was my friends birthday so he got the majority of it. I'm not saying it was bad, it just wasn't very memorable to me, and I'm very particular when it comes to tiramisu. Really it was our waitress who really made the experience. For the life of me I cannot remember her name, just that she had this gorgeous red hair. I'll use this description in lieu of a name, but she's kind of hard to miss if she still works there because she was constantly all around the restaurant and was so personable which I don't often find when I'm visiting Nashville. The owner also came by and checked on us during the dinner which I also appreciated. The whole experience was great and I would definitely recommend going to it. P.S note that there is very little parking near the restaurant.

Caffe Nonna is the perfect spot for a cozy dinner date! We loved the arancini, meatballs, and their alfredo. The arancini does not skimp on the cheese, and the $5 side of meatballs worked perfectly as a second appy for the two of us. And all their pasta was cooked perfectly! I found the short rib ragú to be way too greasy, but the flavor of the sauce was delicious nonetheless. Absolutely loved their pesto cream that came with the arancini. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is very small and super cozy with an enclosed patio in the front.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were sat in the patio which was very loud, and it took a long time to see our server, even though we saw servers visiting the tables around us a few times beforehand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, we put everything in at once and were impressed with how well everything was paced out. It also was apparent how much the servers looked out for each others' tables, as we were checked on by another server a few times throughout the meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Altogether a classic spot for Italian and one that keeps one of my favorite neighborhoods in town feeling like home[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

Gluten free penne with sun-dried tomatoes and shrimp and gluten free penne with pesto sauce

Wonderful dining experience for myself and my daughter who has celiac. Byron our waiter was so helpful assuring us what gluten free options were available. We enjoyed heirloom carrots and vegetarian bruschetta on gf bread then gf penne with pesto sauce and the other had gf penne with sun dried tomato sauce and shrimp. We were assured the pasta was cooked in water separately from regular pasta. We savored every bite and highly recommend this lovely restaurant- we will definitely be back!!

I loved this little place! I came with a group of 6 on a Saturday night. They were actually pretty full, however the hostess said a group of 6 just cancelled their table so we got to snatch it up, and we only had to wait a few minutes. The inside was so authentic feeling and cute, and there was also outdoor seating. The menu was little but plenty of great options and you have the option to build your own pasta, if desired. The wine was good and the food tasty as can be. I will be coming back!

We know why it's packed now. The interior is stunning, the service was on point. Professional and personable at the same time. We had the pleasure of sitting outside on a beautiful evening. It was perfect. We started with the tuna tartare and marinated octopus. I'm iffy when it comes to octopus. If it isn't done right, it's horrific. This was so tender, sliced thin, and was a perfect bite with the chilled potatoes. The tuna tartare was equally as good, but the octopus stole show. The tuna has a burnt orange vinaigrette around the outside of the plate. It's more than just a garnish. Make sure you get a bite with the tuna. For dinner we had the bolognese, duck ragu, and braised short rib. All three dishes melted in your mouth. The duck was my favorite, I added a little whipped ricotta to each bite and it was just 10/10. For dessert I asked if they could make a pistachio martini, and gave them the ingredients. Their bartender hadn't heard of one, free poured it, and absolutely nailed it. The cannoli filling was too sweet and too thick for me. It tasted like thick buttercream icing. Personal preference, but I prefer a lighter filling. All in all, I would say don't walk to Luogo...RUN. Reservations are highly recommended.

While the restaurant's decor is beautifully done and sets a great ambiance, the overall experience unfortunately didn't live up to the aesthetic. We arrived for a 7:00 PM reservation and were seated quickly. The host was warm and welcoming, letting us know our server would be right out. However, we waited about 15 minutes just to have our drink order taken. When our Limoncello Margaritas arrived, they were a major disappointment--watered down, lacking flavor, and with no detectable alcohol. On a positive note, the meatball appetizer (one large, delicious meatball cut into four) was excellent and the highlight of the night. Unfortunately, the entrees didn't maintain that standard; my rigatoni and my coworker's pappardelle with duck ragu were mediocre at best. With so much potential in the atmosphere, the food and beverage execution left a lot to be desired. I don't see myself returning.

The areas for improvement: 1) for new customers to the restaurant it would be helpful if the waitress even asked the patron if they had any questions, were able to navigate the full menu in the app. Our waitress merely said use your phone to see the menu & order. 2) they provide each table with a "call" button but it is useless. We pressed it many times & twice I had to leave the table to go find a waitress to ask a quick or get assistance. 3) we were provided a bottle of water when we first sat down but had to track down our waitress to request a refill 4) it would be grand if all of the plates for the same table are served relatively close together 5) consistency between plates could use improvement. 2 plates were ordered the same at our table but one had significantly more pesto than the other. 5) if you want a waitress to actually do their job, well maybe dine at a different establishment. Where they had an absolute FAIL: I expressed my severe food allergy to the waitress. Her nonchalant response was "they should change gloves between dishes". I had to ask her to double check with the kitchen because I wasn't looking to die today. A food allergy can be life threatening & should be taken seriously! Overall I don't think we would return. The menu was a bit difficult to find everything the restaurants had to offer. The waitress was terrible. If I was her employer I would be looking for a replacement hire.

Complimented extremely well with any pairing crafted in the restaurant. The focaccia with garlic and balsamic was the perfect first bite to guide your experience as a shareable item. -Ricotta di Gnocchi: 5/5 Again, texturally pleasing bite that's met with a delicious sauce that's velvety, cheesy, and rich in flavor with the herbs meeting the palate cutting away the richness. Perfectly paired -Potato focaccia: 4.5/5 One of my favorite bites that's met with a lemon zest while staying rich and creamy, the focaccia is covered and smothered with this delicious sauce that's a cream of potato and met with Parmesan and lemon, 2 flavors you wouldn't expect to pair so well but compliment each other extremely well. Giving this a reduction of .5 because the bread turns a little too mushy if you don't eat the entree quickly. Which some may like! -blondie: 5/5 Over heard the chef talking about soft serve and ice cream being offered and I had to listen in and order the dish. I'm not much of a desserts person but this was a concept executed flawlessly. Caramel thats met with berry for freshness, ice cream for richness, and sesame for a popping texture that's pleasing. All married to a golden brownie that's crispy to the bite and soft on the inside. Very well matched with each other and just a delicious bite to end the meal. As a home sourdough baker, I was quite disappointed. To top it off, St.Vito was recognized by Michelin so I expected great food and service. Not sure how they pulled that off with the Michelin reviewers... Oh and parking in the area is impossible. Everything is pay to park so just be prepared.
