Wow! I stumbled upon this local establishment and it was definitely a hidden gem. If I had a TV show, I would be stopping here and highlighting this local place. I bought multiple items and sampled them all. I bought a spinach pie for a relative and the quote was: "The BEST spinach pie I have had." The pizza, meatball balls (whatever you call it), and their bread was perfect. Pastries galore, however, they need a chocolate chip cookie... They have the BEST pepper biscuits around. I always buy 2, one for me and one for my in-laws. I will definitely try their Spinach Pies on my next trip since I heard great things about them. Customer service has always been great. Also, I want to say about Peter's negative review for this place. How can someone expect a refund when you don't bring the product back? For years, my family and I have gone to Calvitto's for bread and pastry. Each time, its been a good experience. The bread is excellent and the pastry was always top notch. The staff has always been pleasant, even if a bit young and inexperienced at times. Ray C. the owner even came out once from behind the counter and gave my son a free cupcake on one of our trips. Prices have crept up but where haven't they lately? Fast forward to this past Wednesday, March 20. My wife went in and bought 6 zeppoles, 4 cinnamon twists, and 2 loaves of bread. The total came to $49. On Wednesday night, we shared one zeppole after dinner, it was delicious. On the next evening, we brought them to a family gathering and discovered that at least two of them had gone sour. We were a bit surprised. One would think that even cream pastry would not go bad one day after leaving the bakery. We decided to throw the rest out, why keep bad food? My wife went to the bakery today asking for a refund and was told "no". She was told that she could get a refund if she brought back the zeppole so they could be examined. Do you guys really think I'm trying to soak you for 6 zeppoles? What's that a whopping $25? I really didn't want to write this review for a one-off experience, but quite frankly, I'm insulted. After buying from you for several years, you've now lost us. We will take our money and our family's business elsewhere. read more

They have the best pizza strips. I know people say De Palmieri's but I completely disagree. The past few times I got thrown from De Palmieri's they were stale and dry. The employees here are always friendly and the food is always fresh and delicious. The pizza strips are peanut tree nut free so they are safe for my son to eat. Just be aware that the prices online and print it on menu do not reflect current prices. A box of red party strips appears to be $19 but is now $27. It doesn't deter me from buying it since I understand prices of everything has increased right now. But some people may be very surprised by $8 increase. read more

Thanks to the rude service at Solitro's I was lucky to find Calvitto's! Needed to grab some lunch for the kids and was happy to find displays of delicious food and pastries to choose from first thing in the morning! Grabbed some pizza strips, spinach pie and a cream cheese brownie! All great! I will definitely be back to try some more goodies! Had no idea they have been there for 85 years! Was asked by a friend to stop here and pick up 15 mini spinach pies. When I went in the selection was spectacular. They have a many sweets to select from. They also had spinach pies and calzones. I was very satisfied with what was available to purchase and was quite surprised that it was economical also. Will suggest to anyone asking, definitely a place to go When looking for that extra sweet something to take anywhere I will definitely recommend this place. After my experience here yesterday after many years out of the area , I wanted to come here on Yelp to see what the reviews said. I was surprised at the rating in comparison to my experience! sad to report , I will say the desserts I got were delicious, but the pie I got and strips were very disappointing and the service was ultra disappointing as well. I walked in with no greeting , even when I was being helped, the lady barley looked at me when she called me for my turn,seemed annoyed when I asked her if certain pies had cheese & then instead of like asking if a certain pie had cheese I just said well what ones do come w cheese ( an important side note I could not see any labels to well bc I had just had a treatment on my eyes and even had special dark apparent lenses on to protect my eyes , my vision was blurry,basically handicapped for a couple hours in regard to seeing ) she got kind of snappy and like pointed and was like these ones do. But I could not see what she was pointing to bc I'm on the other side of the counter ( despite my eye issues you literally can't see where she is pointing to if your on the other side of the counter) all I see is just rows of food and so I asked what ones ? I can't see where your pointing to from my side of the counter and she just pointed like physically harder instead of telling me what ones so then I just gave up and got the Rabi pie . She did name one of the other pies to me but I just felt pressure to move on so I picked the rabi one, 3 strips of pizza and pastry for family at home. The pie was filled with more then half of just stalk and stems , I had to hand pick it all out bite by bite bc they were so bitter and overbearing and by the end I had an whole mound of ends on my plate . To have more stalk then actual rabi was extremely disappointing and kind of made it taste just super bitter and disproportionate. I grew up on broccoli rabi so I know it's bitter in general but that's why i can say for sure seasoning and ratio is key and this was almost entirely stalk inside of the pie . It was almost like they cut it all up and don't evenly put the same amounts in them bc it seemed like more stems then actual rabi itself. Pizza strips were good but dry &third strip was like half the size of the other two , causing issues amongst distribution LOL also it didn't seem fair to pay same price for a such a smaller slice. The deserts were delicious so no complaints there -a cupcake and a brownie that we split both in half and it made four good size deserts . The lady at the counter was kind of rude to me and didn't outwardly seem helpful like I asked if the brownies had nuts ( bc I wanted a brownie with nuts and wasn't seeing any) and she was just like no and didn't like offer anything with nuts or like idk how to explain it she just was cold and callas and didn't seem like she wanted to help ,more seemed annoyed by my presence and wanted me in and out. When I went to pay I asked if I could get some marinara sauce for the pie and she like in the process of getting my other things forgot I guess ,that I ordered a pie, so when I asked if they had marina sauce she gave me a dirty look ( she wasn't wearing a mask which I'm not mask police at all but my point is you could see her face and I think she forgot she didn't have a mask on bc she literally gave me a dirty look and was like "for what?! The pizza already has sauce" she started to reopen open my bags as she said that almost like condescending as to say like why? U have nothing here u would need that for....type way. and I'm like for the pie- and she's like ohhhh okay. Idk just rude and not friendly and despite the food being decent other then the pie being icky- I won't be going back. Didn't enjoy my experience there and felt unwelcome. If it wasn't for the rude service I prob wouldn't of taken the time to write this review but I think it's important to respectfully bring up unsatisfactory and unprofessional behavior bc other wise there can never be room for growth . I'm sure I'm not the only one who has encountered her on a bad day and we can all have bad days I'm not saying she had to go above and beyond but it just felt unnecessary to like be that blatantly unhappy towards a customer who chose your business! I don't think it's fair to pick and chose who you will smile to and be friendly towards when your in the service industry , when people are trusting you and supporting you- be kind - is all. 2 stars bc the food was half great(deserts) /half disappointing w the rabi pie and no points for the lack of nice service. I really hate to leave this review bc I don't want to bad mouth a business or put anyone down , but I just feel it's important to share my honest experience Incase someone else without the means to share there's had a similar one to mine. stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and bought several items. Everything was stale and had to throw it all away. when I called the manager and asked for a refund he told me to come into the bakery. When I did, he came out of the back room yelling and screaming at me. Very unprofessional behavior considering there were customers in the store. His name is Ray and he was rude, arrogant, and totally out of control. All but called me a liar. I had never asked for a refund in a bake shop before but the items I purchased were horribly stale and totally inedible. Hermits, brownies, cookies--all thrown away. He did end up giving me my money back because I demanded it. $13.50 was the amount of my purchase. Do yourself a favor--don't go here--- read more
