Every Ladro I go to makes some pretty good coffees. No exception! Hard to find a good caffe that serves excellent pastries too, but not only are the drinks good, the pastries are great here as well. Barista is always very nice. My only gripe with Ladro in general is that if you order any kind of syrup at all (even specifying a small amount) their drinks sometimes lean toward the sweet side. But in general they're pretty consistent in making an awesome drink. read more

I am ABSOLUTELY NUTS for their medici coffee! It is some kind of latte/americano drink that includes scrapes of orange skin strips! AHHHMAZING! I became literally obsessed with that drink and went to Cafe Ladro's in Cap Hill and over in Queen Anne every single morning for 2 weeks. This place has a bad vibe. Not evil-bad, but definitely a shitty, dead-room, dead people vibe. I don't know how good my latte was or not, frankly. When you feel your soul be sucked out of you from a room it's kind of distracting. Oh yea- I recollect it wasn't hot (the espresso not the room). It was probably as good tasting as my fond memories of nearly daily espresso at the one on 7th & Pine. The difference here is that the staff I've encountered on four separate occasions (three different persons) are the I-couldn't-be-less-concerned-about-you-or-your-patronage types. On a 5th occasion there was one engaged and espresso-lifted face. I wish I remember a name so they would know I'm excluding them from my rant. And so I might tell them to run not walk before they internalize the energy there. I am also struck by the fact that a dear, much more laid-back, friend who recently moved into a place 2 blks from Ladro wrote the following without knowing I had an opinion about the place: "i like Ladro's coffee, but have had bad experiences with two of the staff there--nothing nasty, but enough to make me think i should take my biz elsewhere". Indeed. Don't reward bad service. Plenty of places on this street or within a couple of blocks. No one wants to feel their mere presence is not requested and that you are interrupting your barista's day by unfairly calling attention to yourself. Manager: take note. read more

Caffe Ladro has the best soy mocha in Seattle in my opinion. I love to stop by whenever I'm out and about. The staff is also very friendly and the pastries are good. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars is because the service can be a bit slow at times. I think this is good because the staff takes its time with each drink and each customer and you know it's made right. But it may not be the right choice if you're in a rush! read more

you've made an outstanding impact sourcing excellent ethical coffees amd direct trade now channel that same time and investment into developing your staff to understand CUSTOMER SERVICE. If you are a regular you get a smile and engagement if you are new or unfamiliar you're a nuisance. 15th prides itself on being a destination neighborhood but is very isolating this location is the town hall where regulars complain about new employees, homelessness, and any other annoyances that counter their beliefs. Coffee is bright but unfortunately the customer experience is not. read more

I stop here sometimes on the way to work. I like the coffee and I like that it is usually pretty quiet even during morning rush hour. Some of the baristas are quite nice. However, on a few occasions now, certain baristas have been rude or condescending. If it was not for those couple of unfriendly baristas, I would give the cafe 5 stars. Years and years ago, I used to live very close to this place. Back then, I had a similar mixed bag of experiences. Personally, I do not care if a barista is chatty, quiet, reserved, or anything else. My favorite cafe in the neighborhood. Soy latte is excellent and Sweet Chai Latte too. I used to think the coffee at Victrola was better but the folks working behind the counter at Ladro are just so much darn friendlier. And to be honest, I don't need the hard core hipster crowd at Victrola... although I enjoy the actual cafe environment better there (nicer art, better seating arrangement, etc.) I didn't mean this review to become an A vs. B but, well, there it is. driving back in the car, I think I said "this coffee is SO good" about 4 times to my boyfriend and pretty sure he got the point. this cafe knows how to make a delicious latte, the espresso wasn't too strong and the almond milk was steamed perfectly. definitely coming back here next time I am in the neighborhood. read more

I can only speak for this location because I have never been to another. I have purchased coffee from here maybe 50 times in two years and have come to the conclussion that they serve possibly the worst tasting coffee is Seattle. Or maybe I should say most watered down espresso in Seattle. Or maybe the least skilled baristas in Seattle (try to avoid the nice hipster with the thick dark beard). With some exception the staff is surly and has snoots. Maybe the roast just sucks, irregardless, with Liberty and Victrola on either block to the left and right, and the lowly bakery across 15th, I'm suprised this Ladro has any regular business at all. My absolute favorite coffeeshop in Seattle. The baristas always start up conversation and always remember faces, the music and atmosphere is always great, and it's wonderful to sit at the counter lining the big windows or outside in the wooden seats and people-watch on 15th. While visiting Seattle recently, we stopped in to pick up some coffee before heading over to Volunteer Park. On a friend's recommendation I ordered the Medici, a chocolate-orange mocha. In the words of Teen Girl Squad, SO GOOD! OMG. I think they peel off a spiral of orange rind and add it to the milk before steaming. I never would have thought of chocolate-orange-coffee as an awesome flavor, but it was so yummy that I went back a few days later and got the same thing. read more

Four stars average?? Really, Seattle? This place is fine if you just need to stop in and leave, or if you're looking to avoid anything resembling a hipster. The layout is weird, though, and feels drafty on a cold day. For some reason, this place seems to attract all the weirdos of 15th Ave. But it's good that there's a place to get coffee where you can go in your pajamas without looking out of place :-) A lot of people seem to camp out there, and yet I would personally not feel comfortable camping out. I have enjoyed every visit to Cafe Ladro. The coffee is great and the over-sized windows are extremely inviting. However, what had me actually come back to this coffee shop given that we probably have hundreds on capitol hill alone is Kaylee (hope I'm spelling her name correctly). Her hospitality was so inviting and her friendliness is CONSISTENT. Anyone can be nice sometimes but she treated great every time I've come.
