Good spot! Found it while in SLU. I thought the outdoor seating and adjacent Amazon store was so fun to walk through. The coffee was really good!! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars was bc I spent $7 on a 12 oz and that seems kind of pricey to me but the coffee was really strong I didn't need to go in for anything bigger. The coffee itself was fine. Unfortunately, not good enough to offset the rest of the experience. I ordered ahead through the website and went in around 9am. Once there, the barista told us that none of the food items were actually available. The system clearly wasn't updated, so we were still charged for items they couldn't provide. Instead of resolving it on the spot, we were asked to leave an email so a manager could issue a refund later because the cashier didn't have the authority to do so. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, and no attempt at service recovery. Tech issues happen. What doesn't have to happen is making the customer do extra work to fix a problem they didn't cause. As of now, we're still waiting on the refund. read more

I'm pretty sure that if Seattle had an award for its most quintessential coffee shop, Cascade Coffee Works would be in the running. With its location inside a remodeled historic brick building in the heart of Amazonia, a wonderful selection of various coffee drinks and interesting iced coffees, everyone witting with their laptops, and general laid back vibe I could easily see this place being part of a coffee table book about, well, coffee shops! I met up with a friend/co-worker there on a recent weekday morning, and we plugged in to their (nice and strong) wi-fi to get some co-working done while we enjoyed our drinks. I had a very interesting iced coffee mixed with their house-made cherry cola. It was pretty good, coulda been a little sweeter but I guess that's what the sugar bar is for! The service was friendly, though the staff was a little harried. I overheard one of them mention that, before the recent re-opening of the Amazon campus, their business had been way down and that they were struggling to catch up as they were getting 10x the number of coffee orders now! I'm sure, as they're able to hire more staff, things will pick up and I don't fault them a bit for this. In fact, I see it as great news not just for the shop, but for the neighborhood and downtown in general. (I'm sure some Amazon employees would disagree with me though!) Right now, there's some very loud construction going on outside the building which did make conversation difficult. I suggest ear buds if you visit. Would love to grab some of their super cool swag on my next visit! read more

LOVED the pumpkin pie latte! It seriously tasted like a pumpkin pie and it was so delicious. I recommend trying it as a hot latte for sure! The barista made the hot latte at the perfect drinking temperature. The drink was the right amount of sweetness/syrup, and the foam was soft and creamy with beautiful latte art. There are big windows, so the inside of the shop is lit with a ton of natural sunlight. There is a decent amount of seating, so this would be a nice place to get some work done or just relax. read more

I was very sad to hear about the merger of Seattle Coffee Works with Victrola and that SCW would be losing its identity in the mix. I've been a big fan since I moved to Seattle in 2008 and SCW was still in its one original location near the market. All of that said, I almost hate to admit how quickly I've become a believer in Victrola coffee. I've been buying my beans at this shop, which used to be Cascade Coffee Works. This is a cute and somewhat spacious shop inside of a building with a cute brick facade (probably real brick saved from the previous building). If you don't feel like drinking in the shop, you can sit in the open air but covered foyer of the building. The shop is bright with big windows. There is a small loungey space upfront with a couch and chairs, and then tables and chairs throughout the rest. The baristas were friendly when this was CCW and they still are. I imagine it would be easy not to alert someone buying beans that they get a free coffee with the purchase, but they make sure to let me know (not sure how many bags you have to buy to get the freebie and I'm not sure if it is advertised). As for the coffee, I first tried Victrola coffee on a whim, buying a bag from Grand Central Bakery in Eastlake. It was the Paramount blend. The flavor profile really blew me away. It's a medium roast that is complex and smooth. This led to me buying the Deco Decaf. Then the free coffee I got from buying beans the other day blew my mind too! It was almost a bit sweet, still a touch of roastiness, and had a bit of a graham cracker note on the finish. I need to figure out what blend that is! Something else that I've noticed about their blends that I don't with most others is how they maintain their complex character even after adding creamer. No more shame for adding creamer! If you're looking to try a great coffee and looking for a bright and friendly shop to sip it in, I highly recommend Victrola Coffee on Thomas! read more

A bright, airy coffee spot in SLU -- met a friend here for coffee and am officially OBSESSED. They have tons of seating indoors and also a big garage door which opens into an outdoor patio. There's a ton of natural light and it seems great as a spot to bring some work or a book. The baristas are very sweet and helpful. I've gone here on a few occasions when I have classes at the Northeastern University down two blocks from here. The coffee is good - I guess I'm used to the coffee here as I also go to their sister location in Ballard. Pastries here are marginally better than other coffee shops and most of all I appreciate the cozy yet spacious and relaxing vibe of the space and their coffee. Bless thier soles! The 3 wonderful women greeted me today with bright, cheery smiles and were ready to make me my caffeine boost! The space is clean, open, and convenient. I ordered a 16oz latte and even in my dazed and confused mind space they were ready to make my order with delight. It was very quick service as well. In and out in under 5mins* (I was the only one in line). Needless to say the latte was smooth and creamy and absolutely zero bitterness; which I love! It's exactly how I wanted my latte to be. Yes thier are many many many coffee shops here in Seattle but I am always happy to support Cascade Coffee Works soley on the fact that they pay thier workers a livable wage. Another coffee spot in Seattle. I had the London fog and typically I get the 12oz, but this time I wanted a 16oz London Fog. When the barista said the drinks name ( vs my name) it was actually a 12oz, so I didn't think it was mine. When no one went up I said "I think this is mine, however I ordered a 16oz", then he said "oh you did" - ( In my mind, not out loud: I would LOVE to show you the receipt, but you didn't give me one, but yes I'm not lying ) . I would never think he was doubting me, but then I popped up, " yes I did, my drink was almost $7.00". He replied: "oh those are expensive drinks". for a moment I said "are they hummm"..... I did order the bigger cup size, did the guy ringing me up put it in wrong, after he asked me, I will never know. What I do know is the cashier didn't know how to ring it up, so I might've got something else. With that being said, I didn't care, however I wanted my drink, he added more milk and water, now I have water and milk in a drink, it was great afterwards, he knew what he was doing. However the doubt of what I ordered makes it rather annoying. The fact that I order this drink a lot, normally when I'm not well ( yes I was not well), makes it more annoying that it was almost $7 here and NO ONE ELSE charges this much. As mentioned, I dont normally get the 16oz, I knew for sure what size I ordered, but being questioned was rather rude. However, the reason this place got an additional star is because he apologized. It was hard for me to swallow my pride, when I was younger, and I do say it because I'm in the wrong, please keep in mind saying sorry and meaning it is two different things. I say it bc I'm owning up to my mistake, this guy as well. Which I genuinely believe he did, but what I'm getting at is customer service these days is different. Not saying it can really put someone in a bad mood and lose customers. I've realized saying "I'm sorry" can truly make a different on someones day. I was sick, not well, I went to another coffee shop five more blocks then I wanted, bc my normal coffee shops power was out, I went some place new and the reviews looked great. I could of stayed at work, where there is FREE tea, but instead I walked the extra blocks to give someone my business, and didn't think this would cause a big deal. Emotionally it did, but that..... "I'm sorry" went a long way. Appreciate the barista for taking the time. ( this is a learning moment, yes ) Please note: This is the first place where a London Fog has been over $5.00, but I did ordered a 16oz, which I assumed it would be more. I never cared about price until he said they are pricey drinks. My favorite part was when he was talking to the cashier about ringing it up and said "its steamed milk and tea" - "In my mind" all I could think about was, ahhhh, I get it, that is what makes it $7.00 bucks ( No its SLU and inflated drinks is a thing). HA Note: I'm glad I got out of the office, but simply not for the whole experience, it wasn't that bad, but sometimes services makes me stay where I am. I've got a couple of different drinks here ranging from mochas to cappuccinos and everything has been fresh and well made!

This location has a very nice feel to it. Inside a newer development with a nicely restored brick facade, it's comfortable to just chill and hang out over a beverage and snack. The main windows face south so you get nice sunshine pouring in the glorious vintage windows when it's out. All Coffee Works locations carry the pleasantly spicy Travelers chai, a solid locally made recipe from Beacon Hill. It does have sugar added in the brewing process (which is perhaps traditional chai?) but I wish chai recipes around here left sugar out for customers to sweeten (or not) to their liking/preference. Paired w/ Oatly oat milk (vegan, non-dairy alternative), this goes down pretty good! So far, I think it's the closest to resembling nice creamy/thick drinks of the old dairy days. Sebastian (owner?) mentioned recently all locations carry Travelers and Oatly. Bites available are usually a few pastries and snacks. They had a pretty tasty vegan "everything" bagel sandwich with veggies and maybe hummus; it seems to be non-regular, though; the lady did mention she could do a simple hummus w/ toasted bagel. Sure; nice snack. Good spot, nice relaxing vibes. The restored vintage exterior is an appealing first impression to the cool, comfortable interior. read more

The space is super cute, the service is great, and their coffee is consistently good! I frequent this coffee shop because it is conveniently close to my workplace. Every time I've come in here, I've been greeted with good service and yummy lattes. I think that the drinks are a bit pricey (6$ for an iced latte). I came here on a Saturday afternoon to do some work on my laptop. I ordered a chai tea latte with soy milk. As I got my beverage, I was delighted to see how beautiful the presentation is with all of the cinnamon on top of the cup. The drink was also filled to the brim which was an added bonus. The drink itself was also delicious, where I could taste the strong spice from the chai which brought me into an awaken and energized state. I dropped by here on a Monday afternoon and ordered a seasonal lavender latte with a spinach quiche. The place was lively but not packed. The lavender latte had a nice floral smell and taste to it that was not overbearing. The quiche seemed to have been microwaved instead of toasted, making the crust a bit soggy but the flavor was still really good.
