After years of visiting Maggie Valley we finally decided to stop at this coffee shop and now we are addicted!!! I've went through most of the fancy coffees, lattes and mochas and have yet to find one I didn't love. Can't wait to try all items on the menu. The staff is absolutely lovely and friendly. We were in Lake Junaluska for a holiday, and in the morning we had decided to try out this coffee shop. We don't really go to coffee shops that often, partly because I am not a coffee drinker in the first place, and my mom has issues with most of them since they cannot get her order correct (yes, this is foreboding). It turns out that Caffeine and Chaos is well named. From the outside there is quite a bit of neon, and it is joined at the hip by a kids inside playground that for this particular morning was rented out for a kids birthday party. Observing the kids showed me just how unmanaged and spoiled some of the kids were, and how well mannered and sensible others were. It was a true dichotomy of child-rearing methodology, which was kind of fascinating. As for the place... there are the typical sofas and other lounging areas for coffee patrons to sit in, though when we walked in they were all mobbed by the parents of the kids as they waited for the playground to be opened up, so the unmanaged kids were running around screaming their heads off. This of course caused the barista crew to be somewhat harried, and that is not a good thing in this case because they already had organization issues. It seemed like only one of the crew really knew what they were doing, while the others were sitting at their stations and following orders... so of course our order got completely lost and we were sitting there for fifteen minutes waiting for an order that was never worked on. Not even a hard order, mind you... just a hot chocolate for me and a slightly watered down Americano for my mom. It was only once I walked up and asked them where our order was that the person who took our order realized it was completely missing, and they rushed it... which then meant that it was screwed up... My hot chocolate was fine, but the Americano was severely watered down the way Americans seem to like it, and not strong the way my mom likes it (see? Told ya there was foreboding!) However, we just took the drinks to our table and had them, because we were already on a time table and they were entirely too disorganized behind the counter for this to go any further with good results. Stopped in for a frozen apple pie iced coffee. The staff are very nice and there is a huge selection of coffee and ice cream flavors. Cool place to sit inside or outside to enjoy your order. And I just noticed they have a drive thru. Look for the open sign on the right so you know when it is in operation. read more

I will still give this place five stars because the staff are so kind and patient, and there are so many options, so so many options for delicious ice cream, milkshakes, anything that can go in a cup or a cone. This time our visit wasn't the best experience because I asked for something quite specific and the very sweet girl that was helping me definitely tried her best, but in the end I don't feel like she understood that I simply wanted something frozen, like a slushie, having recently had surgery on my esophagus, and I ended up throwing away my purchase seconds after walking out the door. I thought I had someone in my group that would drink it and even they turned it down, it was a watery milky drink as opposed to a frozen or slushie type drink and the group consensus was that it just did not taste good at all. I would describe it as cinnamon milk poured over ice. So we're driving into Waynesville to try to find an actual frozen coffee. read more

The playground is bigger than it looks in the pictures. My 2 and 7 yr olds were both entertained for over an hour. Drinks are great and the playground doesn't require a ton of supervision. After trying other kid friendly places first we ended up wishing we'd just come here to begin with. read more

I came in today to workers that kinda seemed like they didn't know what they were doing nor did they want to make our coffees. My sister said she had an issue with gluten to the girl at the register (celiac) and she didn't seem to know any of the buttons nor did she seem to have any understanding of the name of the drinks and food they serve there. My sister got her coffee with cookies on top even though she requested they come without, the woman making it starts SCRAPING the cookie off the coffee and is gonna try to serve us the same coffee that could make her sick. All and all very unprofessional behavior from 2 different employees, and I normally like this place and most of the happy faces working here. This morning was not that. 2 stars because their kolaches are so good! I did however drop my pasta salad going to the car because I wasn't even offered a bag, and I dropped my fork before making it out of there as well read more

Went there today with my two kiddos and had a great time! It's very small but fortunately we went when it wasn't very busy. Nice to have a place in Waynesville to go to! read more
