We stumbled upon this place on accident. We were looking for a quick coffee shop and found this place on Yelp. We didn't read the reviews and showed up expecting coffee. Except they were just a roasting spot. Well luckily we met the sweetest girl there who hooked it up with some espresso beans and some high quality matcha to bring back to OC. I gotta say, I'm fairly picky about my coffee beans. I've made myself a latte pretty much every morning for the past 10 years. I tend to like nuttier, medium roast coffees. To give you a comparison point I was a big fan of Blue Bottle in San Francisco when I lived there. My basic store-bought go-to was Peet's Cafe Domingo. But I always like it strong -- a double shot topped with microfoam in an 8oz cup. I hadn't found a local roaster I liked yet, so I decided to give Café do PARAÍSO a try. I bought a bag of the Guatemala Huehue RFA FTO... and wow. It's definitely the best I've had since I was drinking Blue Bottle at Mint Plaza. I have already decided to make this my daily home bean, but I look forward to trying others. On top of that, it feels great to buy local and support education. It's a triple win. Whenever I go to different parts of the United States I like to try different coffees. The young lady that helped me was very knowledgeable on the various coffees and explained the different regions of the world. Additionally, she explained all about them and helped with the education. Both my wife and I decided on the Guatemalan and the Colombian dark roast. We always get the whole bean that way we can grind it at our house and enjoy the aroma.We tend to prefer the dark roast and we have gone with the Indonesian Sumatran coffee's in the past along with Kenyan. It was good to see a good Colombian dark roast, normally I'm not a big fan of the Columbian beans but these were roasted very nicely. Prices I felt were reasonable; we love our coffee so much. Fantastic people here. I went into the storefront in Las Vegas thinking it was an actual Cafe (it is not, it's just a roastery). So friendly and kind and everything about their company goals was explained. They gave me a sample and I ordered a 12oz of their PB&J blend that they already had roasted that day. This is some of the best coffee I've had. Owen, the owner, is passionate and knowledgeable about coffee and it shows. I've had the opportunity to speak with him at the Farmer's Market and he clearly knew what he was talking about. We started with a few trial size bags of different beans and we haven't found one yet that we haven't liked. Since the COVID outbreak, I've been ordering delivery to the house. I have chosen "Local Delivery" which has a small fee of $2.99 rather than the USPS shipping. Owen brings it to my house himself. I've ordered Thursday and it was here by Saturday. They offer several different beans from different growing locations and offer different grinds (or whole bean) as well so that you get the best grind for how you make your coffee. The website is easy to use and the ordering process is simple. I noticed the last time I ordered, they also have already brewed cold brew now. It's on my list to try next time I need cold brew - I'm sure it's fantastic! The price point for a bag of coffee is reasonable. It starts at $4 for the sample packs, $12 for a 1 pound bag of coffee for a single purchase, and they offer subscription services as well. This coffee was freshly roasted the day before it was shipped (in Las Vegas) and my wife and i are so happy we decided to place our order! We ordered the DR Congo Sopacdi and the Kenya Kiaguthu and had them both ground espresso fine... The Sopacdi is our fav because of the bold flavor and sweet aftertaste, we look forward to brewing this each morning.
