Came in at 11am on a Tuesday and there was no line. I got an iced caramello and iced blueberry. The drinks came out quickly, less than 5 minutes. The coffee was incredibly smooth. It happened to be about five minutes from my daughter's gymnastics, so I finally made the drive. My first impression was that it's located in an older shopping center, but I liked the digital sign out front. Inside, I noticed there wasn't any seating, which I already knew from doing a little research. There was plenty of space, though, and a steady line of customers waiting and ordering, so they're clearly keeping busy. The menu is refreshingly simple, mainly featuring lattes and cold brews, which actually made it easier to decide. I ordered the Yawtte with white syrup, and my drink was ready in about five minutes. I also loved their coffee bean display--I almost bought a bag and definitely will next time! The Yawtte was so good. It was simple, smooth, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet or too strong. After trying it, I can definitely see why they've earned so much recognition. My favorite thing to get there is their Yawtte (latte) with blackberry flavor. The blackberry flavor is so good! Their coffee is pretty decent as well but they only use oat milk for their latte. I'm not a huge fan of oat milk only because it covers a lot of the espresso flavor & I like my lattes strong. Last time, I got an extra shot with my Yawtte but then it muted the blackberry flavor more than I wanted so it was a bit hard to find that balance. It's not so often that you come across just well-made and well balanced lattes, and that is exactly what you get from this place. We arrived right at the opening hour, which is 8am, and there was already a line outside. However, because of the two drink limit they have for every person, the line went by pretty fast. I got my two drinks within less than 15 minutes (yes, I timed it), which I think is crazy impressive considering the line ahead of us. They seriously were like a well oiled machine in there! We tried their blackberry, dark chocolate, and caramello yawttes. Let me tell you, every single one of them was truly a crisp, vibrant, and creamy goodness in a cup!! And when I say it's so well balanced, it's because it's not too sweet with just the right amount of flavor and creaminess--the perfect trifecta in a great latte! One thing worth noting too is that they only use Oatly for the milk part of the yawtte, and as a lactose intolerant girlie, I think that's amazing. While they only offered to-go orders, the space was still very warm and welcoming--I loved the overall aesthetic and vibe of the place. Very simple menu here, latte and cold brew drinks along with coffee beans for sale. Got the iced blackberry latte, which is very delightful, light, refreshing, but you can easily taste the blackberry. Highly recommended. The other one I tried is what they strongly recommended, hot latte with house made vanilla with oat milk, which is not my cup of tea as I'm a sweet tooth. It's probably a good fit for whom like cold brew or espresso. I didn't taste vanilla or sweetness. Even it was about to close, ppl still nonstop came in. The service is very nice. Sadden to write this review since I absolutely love the coffee at Yaw. I truly believe that it is one of the best coffee spots in Las Vegas, but the ambiance has seemed to shift a bit. I used to go everyday, even got my mom and husband hooked on the coffee here. I'd rave about the quality of it to all of my coworkers and friends too. The coffee is not the issue at all. Quickly, it seemed like the owner was bothered by our presence? Many times, I tried to just give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he was just having a tough day but I realized that wasn't really the case as he seemed to be fairly friendly with other customers versus us. Many of the times he would just put my coffee in my general direction without saying anything, I was left to assume that it was mine very awkwardly. I do admit that sometimes I could come in late to the shop (5-10 mins before they close) but I work from home and the only time that I can make my way to anywhere is during my lunch break. Yaw is almost 30 mins from me and I literally spend my only lunch break on a trip to Yaw. I assume that maybe that's what caused the animosity? The late trips to the shop? Regardless, I stopped going to Yaw for a while because I started to feel that I was walking on eggshells around Ian (the owner) and I would get really nervous when I would walk in, but we happened to be in the area yesterday and I stopped by about 10 minutes before they were supposed to close. I ordered my drinks and then a gentleman still came in after me to place an order. Ian then asked me if he knew that they closed at 2 PM and I said yes. It made me a bit uncomfortable because I felt like a bother. This confirmed that he was bothered that I (and other customers) that came in late, but I'm wondering that if he's so bothered by people coming in at that time why doesn't he close earlier than 2 PM? I understand that it can be a bit annoying but I'm a paying customer. I try to be respectful and nice to everyone there. Even when I go in with my daughter, i try to stay out of their way and not let her touch anything to avoid conflict. At some point during the holidays I even tipped $50 because I felt so strongly about the quality/service. I'm so disappointed to say this, but that will be the last time I'm going to Yaw. They source and roast their own beans which are also available for sale (extremely expensive compared to generic store bought, but you get what you pay for). If im not mistaken they also taste test every cup before serving, similar to a bartender checking for quality. The shop/experience itself loses some points, as they do not have any indoor seating which is slightly atypical for a coffee joint, and the hours of operation are limited. The lines can also be long but thats to be expected when they are constantly being ranked as the best, so sometimes I have to leave without being able to get anything due to time constraints. Yaw was a complete "Naw" for me. It was voted Best of Yelp in the entire nation for best coffee, so of course I had to check it out and see what the hype was about. I will give credit where it is due. Their signature blackberry coffee is genuinely good. It is balanced, not too sweet, and not acidic at all. The punkn coffee tasted pretty average to me. I would not get it again, although I also would not say it was terrible. I just would not drive fifteen minutes from Summerlin just to visit for that drink. Both drinks come standard cold, but they can make them hot if you request it. My first impression of the place was the interior. It feels like someone took a warehouse and placed a counter in the middle, then started serving coffee. It was not dirty or messy, but the space felt cluttered. You can tell Yaw leans heavily into the grab and go concept because there is no real indoor seating aside from the small area you wait in while your drinks are being prepared. That part is completely fine and fits their style. Where the experience went downhill was the vibe from the staff. I arrived about an hour and a half before closing, and both my friend and I immediately felt rushed. The workers were not rude, but everything about their tone and body language felt cold. After each interaction they seemed eager to move us along, saying things like "okay thanks for coming" or "here is your drink bye" in a way that felt very pointed. It gave off a strong "hurry up and leave" energy. I never expect over the top friendliness near closing, but the flat affect and lack of warmth made me feel like I should not be there. I think everyone should try Yaw at least once, but I do not see it ever randomly popping into my head as a place I want to return to. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like going to work. I do not want to be there and feel stressed out, but the end payout is enough for a short visit. For a place with such a huge and loyal following, I left feeling confused.
