Small place in a business/local eatery part of Camarillo. Be prepared that you may have to hang out and wait until a booth or counter spot opens up! Ordered tonkatsu ramen and salmon bowl (cooked salmon with fish eggs, pictured). Tonkatsu ramen broth was incredibly tasty with the noodles and warm to my tums. Happy tummy, for sure. The salmon bowl didn't rank as high for me, personally, as it didn't have as much flavor as the ramen. I was just craving some rice. I would come again.... and then skip the salmon bowl. read more

The ramen here was really not good.. seems like it is because there was a change in ownership based on other reviews. The noodles were bloated and tasted not good. Pretty good place for ramen! We were shopping at the Camarillo outlets and found this spot looking for a different one lol it looked good, and busy so we decided to give it a try. Ramen was delicious. Flavor was great. Noodles cooked just perfect and this was the first time eating ramen with thin noodles. I loved that. Overall, we had a great time here. It was a cold night so we paired our ramen with some hot green tea :) just perfect :) Small place, with great taste! Prices and customer service were also great. Everyone was nice and friendly. read more

I wrote another review a few years ago with five stars when we just moved to Thousand Oaks and I was ecstatic that there's such an authentic and genuinely good ramen place. Well, ecstatic no more, and disappointment all the way now that they've changed owners. They changed the menu and got rid of the sashimi appetizer which was a must have before. The main offering tonkotsu ramen broth is obviously not cooked at the same level. It used to be so flavorful with depth that you can tell it was cooked from a base of pork bones for days. Now it just taste like from concentrate. I ordered the Kuro Mayo ramen which is supposed to be rich but this one has a quarter of an inch of oil on top! The fragrance oil in ramen is supposed to be very strong and therefore used sparingly to give flavor, not to make it greasy that I couldn't even finish the bowl (I hate wasting food and I always finish ramen). Short story, this place has changed for the worse, and I'll never come back again. read more

Probably the best ramen that you'll find in the Ventura area. I co-worker suggested this place when I first moved to the area, I was skeptical at first but it was love at first bite. My suggestion would be to start off with the original tonkotsu and add your favorite toppings. I've since moved but still gladly make the trip to Cagami whenever I'm in the mood for delicious ramen. read more

Hidden gem for Japanese food ! Would like to find authentic Japanese food in Ventura county? Please come to this restaurant you will not disappointed. I love their dry ramen, has a good flavor. The down side of this place is very small so have to be ready to wait for a table. If you come early enough for lunch then you will have no problem. read more

Small local spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Theres a sushi bar up front Nothing special about the decor or set up. We had the yellow tail tataki and gyoza for app. The tataki is good but you can tell the fish isn't so fresh. The globs of topping help. We also ordered the Kuro Ma-Yu Ramen and Karamiso. I love black garlic oil so the Kuro Ma-Yu was perfect. Heavy garlic flavor and thick broth. The noodles were delicious. The pork in the ramen was so tender and also very flavorful. Just moved to the area and was excited for ramen. But i was disappointed in this place. I ordered the spicy ramen which had no spice to it whatsoever (unless they got my order wrong which would be another issue). The noodles are all stuck together in one big clump making it difficult to eat. And i only got two small tiny pieces of pork which was not worth the money at all. Even the edamame was extremely bland and unappetizing. The staff was friendly, but the food was only okay. read more

The food was delicious but it smelled like a backed up sewer when I walked in and that will always negatively impact the enjoyment of my experience in any restaurant. 5 star food and service but the location is abysmal, in addition to the smell the place is tiny, there were maybe 6 or 7 tables. I hope they do so well that they get a bigger better location soon. read more

Cagami Ramen is located next to the Habit & Urbane Cafe in Camarillo. There's plenty of parking here & a variety of food & businesses surrounding the area... I know I've seen people standing around outside this area as I'm driving by on the 101 fwy, & I've always wondered what they were waiting for. Surely enough, it was for Cagami Ramen. I met my BFF here at 8:10pm on a Tuesday night, the week following 2020 NY. There were several groups of people waiting outside the small restaurant. You sign yourself in on the sign in sheet & wait. We were debating on leaving to go somewhere else because we thought we wouldn't make the cut before 9pm. My BFF ran into some old high school acquaintances that were waiting outside & we asked how long they've been waiting. They said 45 minutes. I was like, No way... But shortly after they got called in to get seated, they called out the rest of the names on the list. I guess I wasn't paying attention to the people that had left. We were next. I was overjoyed that we only waited 10-15 mins. Heck ya! We sat at the bar top & ordered the Kikusui Sake. It was our 1st time trying this kind of Sake. I liked it, I would definitely order it again. We had about 3-4 shots each. It is on the dry side fyi but the fruity aroma & flavor makes up for it & tastes amazing cold. We both ordered the Karamiso (which is considered the most popular) & added an egg. (An egg costs extra) But I highly recommend adding an egg... Our soups came out in good time. The soup broth was flavorful & the Ramen was delicious in it. The egg was such a perfect, delicate soft boiled egg, 'twas a very enhancing addition to the soup. It was yummy! I was however, a tad disappointed when we had asked to add more add-ins. The waitress said they ran out of some some items like the seaweed, bean sprouts & mushrooms... I got over it after devouring all the noodles in my soup... I ordered another soup To-Go. Overall Fast, exceptional service & Yummy! The waitresses were great, courteous, so nice. We will have to return & try the other yummy items on the menu. - A Big Shoutout to a very friendly lady that sat next to me, listening to our awkward conversation, hearing & seeing us gawking at her food. Maze-soba with won ton = heaven! Next time will get a full won ton appetizer, maybe with the red sauce (?) Maze-soba noodles are not soba noodles; they're marinated ramen noodles--no broth. Liked maze-soba more than tonkotsu but everything family got was delicious and I can't wait to go back. read more

I usually give you a 5 stars, but..... Today Cagami Ramen is closed due to repeated health violations. I am heartbroken. I love Cagami Ramen, but it has been brought to my attention that they are closed today, and no reopen date, due to health violations. I posted this on Yelp! Because it's very upsetting that a restaurant that has this many people giving it 4-5 stars and loving it would disappoint us by being in violation of simple health standards. They need to know this is disappointing. I still will love them when they open back up. But they should love us customers enough to care about our health!? Don't you think? If you are vegan/ plant based this is not the place for you and on top of that $2.00 for a lemon and $2.50 for chili oil the size of a tablespoon is a little much. Experienced it once and will not go back. I will say the service was impeccable, fast! But yea... never going back. read more

Best Ramen place in California. I have been to many, including a Michellin rated spot, but Cagami still has the best flavor. My husband, daughter, and I come here once a week. Kuro-mayu is our favorite, there is nothing like it anywhere else. We found another place with kuro-mayu on their menu, but it was not even close to Cagami's flavor. Every time we go to Cagami, we always take a photo of kuro-mayu topped with ginger. I can rave about it all day long. read more

It may be unfair to compare Cagami to the more famous ramen restaurants in LA/OC. For a restaurant along the 101 in Camarillo, it is surprisingly authentic and good. After spending a day in the Channel Islands, nothing hits the spot more than a hot bowl of ramen. We tried the regular tonkotsu (pork bone broth) ramen with bone broth and the spicy miso ramen. The noodle was cooked al dente and the pork bone broth was a little understated yet flavorful. The spicy miso broth was not too spicy and also very flavorful. I did find the chasu pieces to be on the small side. Each piece is about the size of a dollar coin and thin. It was so unsubstantial that I couldn't really taste it. It just kind of melted away in my mouth. We also tried the yellowtail tataki and the gyozas. Each come with 5 pieces so the portions were not huge. We basically each had a taste. I'd say the appetizers are best split between 2 people. The gyozas were freshly made and served piping hot. For not being a sushi restaurant, the yellowtail tasted fresh. The restaurant is on the small side, with some counter seating and table for maybe a dozen, definitely not suited for large groups. The restaurant is facing the freeway so you can't see it if you're driving through the shopping center parking lot. Overall Cagami serves respectable ramen and is a good bet if ramen is what you're craving. read more

We stopped by this place on our way down to LA based on the yelp reviews. I would like to give it 3.5 stars because I didn't like the ramen. But now I'm wondering if it's just me and my husband who just don't like ramen. We ordered the karamiso and kuro ma-yu ramen. I keep trying ramen houses because I remember my first official ramen experience in Las Vegas off Spring Mountain Road was awesome. Ever since then, the broth has been a bit too salty for my taste and this is the 4th or 5th ramen place I've been to with the same impression. What I did like was my son's rice plate (chasu bowl). Went there today. The service was very efficient and very fast. The food was good too. I got the kuro ma yu ramen. I love ramen and the dish was very good. The noodles would be the only downside to my experience. I felt as though they could've been cooked a little bit longer. All in all, Great service, decent ambiance, and good food. The dishes used for the banchan with the lunch special still have a somewhat dated appearance, including some chipped pieces. Considering the relatively high price of the lunch special, I would think updating the presentation and serving ware would be worthwhile. The service, however, remains friendly and efficient. I ordered the bulgogi, and while it wasn't bad tasting, it didn't seem to be prepared properly. The meat texture was a bit mushy and onions had no caramelization, and the dish lacked the rich, savory flavor and texture that makes good bulgogi so enjoyable. It almost tasted as though it had been cooked at too low a temperature. Unfortunately, the banchan were also disappointing. They were very bland overall. The carrot in the potato-and-carrot dish had an odd taste that reminded me of cleaning solution, so I actually spit it out and didn't eat the rest. The kimchi portion was extremely small and, frankly, didn't look particularly appetizing, so I didn't try it. The radish was also very basic and lacked much flavor. The two wontons were unremarkable, although the radish soup was still good, as it usually is. The salad was fine as usual, and the mixed rice was tasty. Ultimately, though, when I'm paying around $23 before tax and tip for a lunch special and receiving such small portions and inconsistent food quality, I don't feel the meal represents a good value. I really wanted to give this place another chance because I enjoyed my earlier visits, but unfortunately, this most recent meal left me disappointed.

This meant that I get to try a lot of new things and a lot more things. There is about 10 to 15 tables inside with different amounts of seating and since it was just my boyfriend and I and the lady gave us the choice to sit wherever then we chose a table with two seats but, had us move to the next one because she said that the two seat ones were for single people, especially because it was lunchtime. She refused to let us sit at the two person table ‍. We got several menus and a pencil with an ordering paper. She took our drink order and we started to explore the vast menu and it all looked great! (I love when they have pictures on the menu apart from descriptions) After she brought us waters, I asked her if the special menu was considered the happy hour menu and she said it's not happy hour yet and I said yes it is 1 o'clock and she looked at my boyfriends clock on his phone and apologized and brought the happy hour menu. I included the receipt so you can see that 4/5 rolls were happy hour pricing. The sushi chefs were 2 Hispanic men and the reason why I mention this was because I feel like most of my rolls had this "chili powder" that resembled Tajin on my rolls and that's what they called "spicy" half my rolls were supposed to be spicy tuna but the tuna itself was not spicy they just had this Tajin-like powder on top and to me it wasn't spicy at all and I also felt like it made those 2/3 rolls taste bland. My bf loves deep fried rolls so he opted to try the magic mtn and he loved it and I think I enjoyed the spider roll the most. Even the spicy tuna on the crispy rice was just regular tuna with no spice. We still thought it tasted good but we will maybe give it another try with different rolls next time. They have a punch card if you spend $50+ after I think 10 you get a free speciality roll. The chefs gave us a parting remark and we thanked them upon leaving for lunch. Our server was a little more cold but kudos to her for handling the whole restaurant by herself in an efficient manner as our food came out quick and we got water refills and she checked in on us while serving 5/6 other tables all by herself.

A Disappointing Experience at Masa Sushi -- Especially for Guests With Food Allergies…read more We have visited Masa Sushi frequently because, when our orders are prepared correctly, the food is genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the service has become consistently disappointing, and after our most recent experience, I feel compelled to share a serious concern--particularly for anyone dining with food allergies. I have a serious gluten and dairy allergy, and every time I visit, I make a point of clearly communicating my allergies when ordering. Unfortunately, the server consistently seems unable or unwilling to acknowledge these concerns. He often simply stares at me without responding, and there appears to be a significant language barrier that makes communicating important dietary restrictions extremely difficult. His body language can also come across as visibly frustrated or irritated when I ask questions about my food. During my most recent visit, I ordered a Chirashi bowl and specifically requested no Kani (imitation crab) because Kani can contain wheat and therefore poses a serious risk for someone with a gluten allergy. I made this request specifically because previous Chirashi bowls at this restaurant have arrived with Kani despite my request to have it removed. When I explained that I could not have the Kani, the server told me, "There is none in it." I was confused because my previous Chirashi bowls had contained it. Unfortunately, when my food arrived, the Kani was there again. I immediately called the server over, pointed directly to the Kani, and told him, "I can't eat this." He took the plate back to the sushi bar. Instead of preparing a new dish or addressing the potential cross-contact issue, the Kani was simply removed from the existing dish, and the same plate was returned to me. I asked, "You didn't replace it with anything?" The server did not answer and quickly walked away. This was particularly concerning because when someone has a serious food allergy, simply removing the offending ingredient from a completed dish is not necessarily an adequate solution. The Kani had already been in contact with the other food on the plate. At a minimum, I would have expected the restaurant to take the allergy seriously, communicate with me about how the dish was being remade, and provide a safe replacement rather than simply picking the ingredient off and returning the same food. The service in general is also extremely slow and consistently feels disconnected. This doesn't seem to depend on how busy the restaurant is; even when there are only a few tables, the service often feels flustered, inattentive, and at times rude. It's unfortunate because the food itself really is good. We've returned many times because we genuinely enjoy it when everything is prepared correctly. However, delicious food isn't enough to justify repeatedly dealing with this level of service--especially when a customer's serious food allergy is involved. For anyone with a significant food allergy, I would strongly recommend exercising caution and making sure the restaurant can clearly understand and safely accommodate your dietary restrictions before ordering. In my case, after this experience, I no longer feel comfortable dining at Masa Sushi despite genuinely enjoying the food. Great food, but the service and handling of serious allergy concerns need significant improvement.

My partner and I recently visited Cagami Ramen in Camarillo, CA, and had an overall okay experience. The ambiance is quite nice and casual, creating a relaxed atmosphere perfect for a meal. However, the space is a bit small, which might make it feel a bit cramped during peak hours. I ordered a bowl of ramen and spicy edamame. The edamame was definitely spicy and had a nice kick to it, which I enjoyed. The ramen itself was quite delicious and authentic, especially for Camarillo. Unfortunately, I encountered an issue with my ramen as a piece of plastic had somehow made its way into the bowl. I brought it to the server's attention, and they were quick to apologize and offered to make a new one immediately. Since I had already eaten a good portion of the ramen, I requested to have the new bowl packed to go instead of served at the table. The replacement ramen was just as good as the first bowl, maintaining the same high quality. Additionally, they have a selection of draft Japanese beers, which was a pleasant surprise. If you traveled to Japan, and had a chance to get to Hakata for the famous tonkotsu Ramen you were probably in heaven while you had all them flavors in your mouth. When you came back home and try out the local japanese style restaurants you probably was disappointed because they probably didn't have the same flavors and customs you were accustomed to while you were in Japan. I say Japanese style, meaning they probably ain't Japanese and just trying to copy or replicate. Now I bring you to this Japanese resturant, not stlye...yes an authentic Japanese resturant, specializing in Hakata Tonkotsu ramen, the flavor is there as if you were sitting in a Ramen shop in Japan. Cagami Ramen here in Camarillo is the next best thing to happiness, tonkotsu Ramen ranging from the regular basic to hot and spicy, Also tsukemen dipping noodles that will melt in your mouth. Side menu includes some tasty rice bowls topped with either fresh tuna, fresh salmon, salmon with salmon eggs, Also fresh tuna tataki (calpacho), yellow tail, or salmon. Beer, wine and soda, yep you got it! This place is very clean and has that japanese feeling, so if you haven't been to japan and want to have a little taste of what your missing or if you haven't been in a while and want to reminisce...just a short drive down to Camarillo right off the freeway right next to the Habit. My boyfriend and I were in the area and I was craving ramen and I'm very picky because I have an all time favorite Ramen shop in little Tokyo but now I have one in Camarillo. It was all perfect the meat (how it melts in your mouth) the egg (perfectly boiled nice and soft, not too salty or bland) and the broth (even for take out) a perfect creamy consistency( not so thick or watery) and the noodles *kisses fingers* not to mention the customer service was spectacular. They serve a variety of ramen but my favorite is the roasted garlic. Don't be fooled by the name of the restaurant because they serve other dishes besides ramen such as their sashimi rice bowls. Very easy to happen with shrimp sushi. I stay away from it for that reason. Perhaps I'll see if, for an upcharge, I can sub a different piece for it next time. This combo choice for lunch was the perfect amount and very reasonably priced. The sushi chef and server were both very pleasant and welcoming. I found the restaurant and sushi area (open sushi bar) very clean and organized. I would definitely come back.
