Too sweet for our palette. It looks familiar but doesn't taste familiar, and just not our preference. For the selections we made, all the sauces and flavorings are on the sweet side (almost like a bbq sauce; even in the pho broth). Service was great and the atmosphere is very community oriented, but the food missed the mark.

Great prices. Really yummy food. It seemed as though our bartender really needed more support from coworkers standing around talking to each other. She was very busy for happy hour and stated her stress a few times. She was definitely working harder than the rest of the room. So many hands on deck it was hard to watch. What seemed like a manager was just sitting for the longest time at the bar & then went to the register to finish his day. We would go back, just maybe not on a Friday happy hour. Could really be a gem of a place on the right day I guess.

Mariah is such a great bartender .. had the Paloma . We stopped for a quick drink and we scored with Happy Hour!!! The restaurant is pretty large and I can't wait to be back to try the food ! It was busy on a Saturday but chill. I also loved that we were given a tour of the speakeasy. Staff is simply sooo welcoming ! I will be back !

    No pate

The employees are passive and unwelcoming, as if you're bothering them by being there, the one girl is kind but seemed bothered I ordered a coconut because it's hard to open.. seems this place has a high turnover, and you shouldn't have something done if you're not able to... I ordered a banh mi as well. Asked for extra pate and the sandwich was soggy on the bottom, I called about the pate and they said the chef put it on the sandwich instead of extra on the side, which would be totally fine if that was the case but almost none was on there and then treated me like a liar. It's ok the food is decent, and wide variety for all types of diets, two pros and two stars !

    Pan fried egg noodles

I was surprised to find a Vietnamese place in Camarillo. The spring rolls were okay and kind of basic with a stiffer (older?) rice paper exterior. The fried egg noodles were good but wider noodles with a pretty thick cornstarch slurry. Overall solid food considering the location

I used to really enjoy this place when it was the only pho place I knew. It's good but kind of average. We ended up getting calamari for appetizers but it was way too salty and I didn't like the texture of the batter. I will say I did enjoy my whiskey sour drink. I do want to check out their speak easy though.

We stumbled upon here looking for some Asian food mainly for some sort of noodles. We had the pork belly buns, calamari, pho with meatballs and steak and the basil chicken dish. Pork belly was delicious and the pork was soft. The calamari felt fresh and not dry. Wish the pho had more steak but the broth and noodles were delicious. The basil chicken over fried rice was also good. But the chicken was not very soft. Service was good! Fast, responsive and good customer service. We have a child and the host sat us down, asked about water and specifically asked for the baby. Ambience is casual and clean. It is also a bar so has the bar aesthetics as well. Overall a good find!

    Chicken wings with zesty sauce

Our favorite appetizers are the chicken wings with zesty sauce - crispy and light because they use cornstarch in the batter. The pork belly buns are delicious and come with a dipping sauce. The pho soup is delicious too. Staff if very friendly.

The food here used to be awesome! My wife and I order pretty frequently and for the price it's definitely declined in size and taste. Today we got a meal with basically all pink undercooked chicken unfortunately and probably will not order again. Very sad.

    Calamari and Spicy garlic wings

The evening started off nice, we were seated right away. And we ordered the Pho with filet mignon. The flavor was just average and you barely get any meat. It was also thin and shriveled up. We also ordered the fried calamari which wasn't too bad. We also tried the spicy garlic chicken wings which were basically just regular chicken wings covered in that spicy chili sauce you can buy at the store. Not impressed. It had been years since I came here and thought I'd give it another try. Nothing has changed decor and food wise unfortunately. The service started off excellent then dropped in quality after we got our food. We waited far too long to get and pay for the check. There are better options out there, sorry.

I have no idea what I ordered but it was worth it! I'm full but not sickly full. It was fresh and delicious

This was delicious. The vegetarian and vegan options were soo good. We had the spring rolls and 2 different types of pho along with a chicken basil dish and now I need a perfect nap! Highly recommend and the waitress was sweet. I almost forgot to mention the HUGE portion sizes

It looked fancier but was good I had to take a bite This is the vermicelli with beef and pork Soooo good

I've been here a couple times but am now leaving a review. The food is soo good, everything I get is usually extremely flavorful and good quality. We went on a Friday evening and were immediately seated. This time during dinner we had an incident in which there was a accident with a sauce cup falling and the sauce flying every where by our server. But the server, manager and owner were so kind and apologetic and made everything right. The owner is such a cool down to earth guy. The ambiance is calm and makes for a nice dinner vibe, I ordered the vermicelli with pork and beef and some wontons and a ranch water. Phenomenal place

    Egg rolls and Vietnamese fries

This was the second time we went to Basil and Mint - and I'll continue to make the stop whenever I head to Santa Barbara. I had the pork Bahn Mi sandwich and it was so flavorful and delicious. Of course we ordered the egg rolls which are crunchy and yummy too. The service is friendly and helpful - but the food is definitely the star here. I highly recommend!

Mother's Day Was Ruined. And I Need the Owner to Know…read more Let me tell you something. I've worked in five-diamond restaurants. I've worked Applebee's got the pin to prove it. Fried chicken spots. Everything in between. So when I tell you what happened here, know that I'm not some customer who doesn't understand how restaurants work. I know exactly how they work. My best friend lives in Camarillo and honey, he has been raving about this place for months. Every time someone comes to visit, he brings them here. He made our Mother's Day reservations well in advance. Our party of six. This man has easily dropped thousands of dollars in this restaurant. He loves this place. Loved. We arrived early. Server was ok. Seated us at 11, full house, two-hour window we understood the assignment. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Everything came out hot and fast. We're laughing, talking, having the best time and then I look down at my plate. There is a bug. Crawling. Through my eggs. My son grabbed his phone and got the picture. My husband God bless him, shot up to find a manager because that's what you do. That's what any reasonable person does. He found her. Her name is Cheryl. And Cheryl said... "You should've taken it up with the server." Strike one. Then she walks over to our table with an attitude and before I can even hand her my plate, she looks at me and says, "How do you want your eggs?" Like I'm supposed to take the same food back. The food with the bug in it. I was stunned. Not just by the question by the energy. It was off putting. She was annoyed. Like somehow WE were the problem. My kids were horrified. My best friend, the man who loves this restaurant was completely embarrassed. I asked to look at the menu. I wanted something different. Reasonable, right? We waited. The server came back, completely in the dark, said something like "I guess something was wrong with your food?" Sweet kid. Felt terrible when we filled him in. I said I'd just take a burger. He said of course they'd remove the chicken and waffles. THEN he came back. "We're going to have to charge you for the burger." WTH, I thought he had lost his entire mind. He disappeared again, came back, apologized I believe he genuinely felt bad. This has happened before when I have been a server and a manager is more than happy to offer you another dish and take off the other one. But Cheryl? The manager? Never came back. NOT once. Instead, she made her rounds to every single table AROUND us. Laughing. Greeting people. Interacting with guests. For 15 to 20 minutes, we sat there and watched her deliberately avoid our table. And that's when it hit me the thing I didn't want to think. I looked around. Really looked around. And we were the only ones. WELL, I was the only one who was African American woman. Me and my kids. My bestie and my hubby are of European descent. I don't SAY that lightly. Honestly? It makes me sick to even say it. But I couldn't find another explanation. Neither could my friend, who sat straight up in his chair and saw it too up close and personal. He was angry. I had to calm everyone down and say this wasn't worth it. I canceled the burger. We left. It was the worst Mother's Day I have ever had in my life. I have never been treated like this before. It's 2026. People have diverse families. What happened?! To the owner -- I'm hoping you're not her, and I'm hoping you read this. Your friend lost a loyal customer who brought everyone he knew through your doors. You lost our table, our money, and our trust the moment Cheryl decided we didn't matter. The moment she decided that she couldn't be bothered. I travel all around the world speaking, training and I have never been treated to poorly. I called hoping to speak to the OWNER. Cheryl called me back. Are you for real? She HAD a chance to make it right. But clearly she didn't care. She had every opportunity to make it right. She chose not to.

He was in a lengthy, loud conversation with 1 lady sitting at the bar. There was one other man eating, at the table next to us, he was an employee. I had to go up to the bar and mentioned to him it was our first time here. He didn't seem to volunteer, any information on how to order, until I asked him. Then he just said there is a number on the table to order. I asked if he had a menu, he seemed bothered that I asked for a menu. He mentioned I could order from the hostess, so I did. She was very nice and polite and took our order. While waiting for the pizza, trying to get the napkin dispenser on the table to work. They were not even popping up to use. Bar tender ignored the tapping the dispenser on the table. So I switched one dispenser from another table to ours. He never said a word when I tried to get the napkins to pop up. The bartender looked and took the faulty ones and placed them on the bar counter, and never tended to the problem. He didn't even say anything, not a sorry about that, He just continued talking to the lady. Pizza was delivered and we had a few slices left. I just went to the hostess and asked her for a box. She was very fast and we thanked her on our way out. He did not do anything behind the bar, other than talk to the lady. Then he served her a drink, and then waved his hand over the screen, it appeared he didn't charge her for the drink, He did not type in anything. Then a man walked in and sat at the bar, he ordered a beer. Then suddenly bar tender, has lots of work to do, moving around the bar like he is supposed to. It was like someone knows somebody in the business. He was slacking and ignoring us, he never asked, is everything okay or if we needed a pizza box to go, I was already asking the hostess for a box. Probably because I got my own napkins, because I didn't want to interrupt him talking to the lady. We will not be going back to the 999 pizza Tiki bar. I am giving 1 star for the bar service. 5 Stars to the hostess.

I wasn't expecting a restaurant to be so full on a Tuesday night, but when you're as good as Ottavio's you develop a loyal following of locals who enjoy their time here. Many celebrations were obviously being had in just our little portion of the restaurant. There are multiple rooms, accommodating various sized parties, and the hot, delicious Italian faire just kept coming. Fresh, warm bread was delivered with our water and we dove into that doughy deliciousness strait away. Hubs went with a 50/50 plate of spaghetti and cheese ravioli with a meat sauce and added meatballs. I snuck a bite of the meatballs and they were very good, as was the sauce. I opted for the Tortellini Silvana, which was described as cheese tortellini w/sauteed chicken, fresh spinach, basil and sun dried tomato cream sauce. It was FABulous! Light and delicate sauce with full flavor. A generous portion, I took about 1/2 home! Our entrees each came with a choice of soup or salad. Hubs chose Italian Wedding and I went with Minestrone. (Side note: I knew well and good I would be having 2 soups, so I wanted to try both. ;-D) Both were made from scratch and delicious! I was impressed with how fluid the staff worked along side one another. Drinks then food then boxing and the check and - voila! - table turned and on to the next group, all while maintaining a welcoming and pleasurable attitude and friendly service. To our surprise, the weekday earlyish dinner experience here was even BETTER than our great first impression in Ventura. The reason? Our stellar server Dan! Dan is if the soothing vocal affect & detail orientedness of Kelsey Grammer's Frasier Crane, + the compassion of Dr. Phil, + the genuine caring of your bff who really gets you all got infused into the body of a tall, tanned, actor-handsome golfer. We joked that Dan could heal anyone's daddy issues bc he was SO perfectly attentive & thoughtful in his details. From helpfully comprehensive explanations of the best of that day's daily fish, to the bringing us CHILLED spoons to eat some of our to-go blueberry cobbler before the ice cream could melt on the drive home, to bringing us new glasses of club soda mid meal - level thoughtfulness. When they say it's the little things, it really means it's all the little things that add up to a big thing. Green flags like crazy. Yep, that's our Dan! Dan was a totally unexpected surprise, but the comfy booth seating, cool decor & awesome food was not. We have come to expect a level of consistent excellence at Lure. This visit further reinforced this impression. Wild Cod Fish & Chips - likely some of the best - lightest & crispiest - cod we have had - ever, & I'm talking in the world (When we told Dan we'd share that dish, he offered to bring it first, so we could share it as an appetizer. Another green flag!) Sally's Sand Dabs - my 2nd time ordering this bc it's so perfect - pineapple slaw is always great & the garlicky spinach was buttery textured, simple, & fantastic Blue Eyed Trevalla - true to Dan's recommendation, a spectacular fish & cooked perfectly House salad - worth a special mention bc it was surprisingly great w/crispy raw corn kernels & a yum balsamic dressing Blueberry Cobbler a la mode - big enough to enjoy w/the ice cream there & also the rest at home later. Chilled spoons should be served with dessert all the time. Add the super easy parking situation to this great experience, & this was as perfect a dinner experience as you could ever have!

We sat down at the oyster bar and noticed a guy working behind the counter who walked past us quite a few times without acknowledging us. My date eventually had to call him over just to ask for menus, water, and silverware, which a waiter finally brought over for us. Looking around, we noticed a lot of new faces, especially behind the grill, which might explain some of the hiccups. For our meal, we ordered the clam chowder and the crab cakes. The chowder was incredibly thick and the flavor was completely different than usual--it just wasn't enjoyable. My date wasn't happy with it either. To the restaurant's credit, our waiter was nice enough to take the chowder off our bill, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the crab cakes didn't fare much better. They tasted very fishy and the flavor was just completely off. This was the first bad experience we've ever had here, so it really stood out compared to what we are used to. We love this place, so we are hoping this was just a temporary setback with a new crew. We will likely try it again in the future and hope it regains its usual excellence!
