Quaint little interior tucked away in a small, off the beaten path strip mall. The inside is much classier than you'd assume from the exterior. Service was extremely friendly from the first touch to the very last! You can tell they take pride in everything they do and care extremely about this place. The empanadas were outstanding. Great flavor, a bit of heat, and plentiful. The lomo saltado was good, but lacked a bit on the flavor. In addition, it was a small quantity of beef even for a lunch portion. So glad this restaurant has become a go to in our neighborhood! What a treat that we have such amazing service and food in this little unsuspecting location, with a casual outdoor patio and spacious indoor dining. Make sure to start with the sangria and an ensalada andina. Even if you don't like salad, you must try this! It's so fricken fresh and I crave it weekly. I would buy the dressing in buckets if I could. Next, try the empanadas; they have vegetarian or beef, we had beef. Flavor is great, texture is perfect, hot and fresh. For your main, honestly you can't go wrong. I've heard amazing things about the lobster pasta, walleye, scallops, and honestly never heard anything negative. MAKE SURE to have dessert. I'm not a restaurant dessert person but my family had me try the tres leches cake. OMG. to die for. If you're stuffed after your meal, take it to go and munch on it later -- you won't regret it. We are from CA, visiting for a hip replacement and needed to get out of the house for some good food. It's was therefore the first time we'd been to Cahill and entered from the rear thinking it was the front. We were pleasantly surprised to know the back door was infect not the front. We shared meals and had the empeñadas, salad and the filete de lomo for dinner and the flan for desert. While it was busy with only a few servers they provided great customer service. When the food arrived we were amazed and how wonderful it tasted. We are here for a few more days and have already decided to return. Highly recommend! read more

I looove this restaurant! I've been here a few times and the food and service have always been excellent. Tonight my friends and I were enthusiastically greeted by Carlos who provided super friendly and attentive service throughout our meal. We ordered the shrimp ceviche for the table, which was delicious. My entree was the rack of lamb and I can't say enough about the flavor, tenderness and presentation. The restaurant setting was low key and quiet, which is something that my husband is always concerned about as he is sensitive to a lot of noise. I can't rave enough about this restauran! read more

A hidden gem in Edina! This place has a good Mexican twist to your regular dishes. The eggs Benedict for example has avocado and a green salsa on top instead of your hollandaise sauce, and it tastes great! It was a recommendation from an old couple next to us that has been going there for 5 years! Definitely a good place to try if you want something new for your taste buds that has a Latin twist. The restaurant has a friendly and helpful staff and though there were only a few of them, they certainly hustled to make sure we were served. Be nice, everyone is understaffed these days so it was great to see people doing their best and on top of that to taste good food! This is an update to my November 2019 review of this wonderful Edina restaurant. Previously, I had only enjoyed the fabulous Latin fusion lunches. Recently, we tried their dinner menu. We were not disappointed. The friendly family members are among the courteous and efficient staff. Watching them interact with diners and each other is a model of how a good restaurant and happy workplace should function. But the food: Wow! The dinner menu extends beyond Latin fare, such as the fabulously delicious Lomo Saltado, to include lobster, salmon, filet mignon, fettuccine and lamb, but all with a Latin element. We all enjoyed two of the many appetizers: The shrimp ceviche, fresh shrimp marinated in cirtrus juice and mixed with tomatoes and onion (we eliminated the available cilantro). And the guacamole, which came mixed with nice avocado chunks, chopped tomato and onion, which sat on top of a very tasty tomato salsa. Fresh corn chips were light, but strong enough not to break when scooping the guac. The tomato salsa makes the dish fabulous. For entrées, one in our party enjoyed the rack of lamb, each chop topped with a dollop of Argentinian chimichurri sauce. The plate also included fingerling potatoes and braised vegetables. Another scarfed down the Lomo Saltado, sauteed beef tips with onion, tomatoes and bell peppers, served on a bed of rice prepared with anchiote paste. A small side of greens completed the dish. The portion is large so we took half of it home to enjoy later. Having been to the Cahill Bistro multiple times, and never, ever, being disappointed in the service, ambience or food, I consider this neighborhood gem one of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities. I decided to order some tacos from a local restaurant during COVID and I have heard great things about Cahill. I had eaten here 10 years ago when it was an Indian restaurant. I ordered the pulled pork tacos with the house salad and homemade avocado dressing. I took it home and it had cooled off a tad, but the pork was super juicy and there was a lot of it in each taco. There were little bites of fat and pig gristle that added to the happiness. The accouterments were a wonderful meld of cilantro and salsa and there was a cucumber slice in there. The two corn tortillas made eating them by hand no problem. The salad was on the high quality side. Fresh greens and their house dressing was great, a little sweet, but good. Great service for take-out. I said I would be there in 10 minutes and it was all ready for me. Family run by some of the nicest people you will meet and the quality and taste of food was incredible! Started with empanadas and was amazed at the freshness of the flavor. Visited 5/6/23. I've been wanting to visit here for a while and finally got around to it for lunch on Thursday. It's tucked away in Edina and it's such a hidden gem. The thing that blew me away here was that the service was incredible. Everyone was so friendly and helpful throughout. The servers gave great recommendations for an appetizer and for side options. My friend and I sat outside and were seated right away. She has major gluten sensitivities so she was so excited to see how many gluten free options were on the menu. We split the empanadas de carne (braised beef) and they were such a good thing to share. Would definitely recommend. My friend got the Lomo Saltado, which looked and tasted so good (I snagged a bite), that I would get this next time. I for the shrimp tacos and upgraded to onion rings instead of fries for a dollar. Having spent months in Miami, my impression is that they do a spectrum of latin cuisine (Peruvian, Central American, etc.) very skillfully though not quite as well as some of the best distinctive ethnic restuarants (Peruvian, etc.). Consider Cahill Bistro an excellent introduction to the variety of latin cuisines beyond Mexican. I came for dessert and enjoyed the Tres Leches cake very much. I have also had the Ceviche (chilled seafood) which is good if not exceptional like I have had at Peruvian restuarants--just not quite as flavorful or authentic. i was finally able to visit the Cahill Bistro and I'm very glad that I did. I have to say it was some of the most flavorful Latin American food I have had in a long time! We went there for lunch on a Saturday. I had the Achioto Chicken which was Achiote marinade grilled chicken breast with sautéed fresh vegetables and roasted red pepper sauce. It was outstanding! the chicken was moist and was layered with flavor. the grilled vegetables were a treat. My friend had Lomo Saltado which is Sautéed beef tips with red onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, served with achiote rice, fried yuca and balsamic greens Boy was that tasty! We took home an order of Empanadas De Carne & Vegetarianas which was Pan fried corn dough stuffed with your choice of braised beef or fresh vegetables served with roasted tomato salsa and crema casera. We heated them up in the oven for lunch the net day and they were delicious! Now I know why everyone has great things to say about this restaurant. I'll be going back for dinner with some friend that will appreciate it. read more

This new spot came to our attention after being featured in an article in the Star Tribune about 10 new places you've got to try. And-bonus-it was right in our neighborhood, just a couple of miles away. I called to make a reservation (they seemed a bit surprised) and was able to get one without any issue for later that day-judging from the food and service, I think calling for reservations is quickly going to become a necessity here. They are located in a drab strip mall ne t door to a driving school. Inside the place is clean and tidy with solid dark furniture. What it lacks in personality is more than made up for by the extremely Friendly service. From the moment we stepped in we were made to feel welcome and the owner/host (originally from Ecuador) was very engaging and warm. He got us seated, brought water and gave us a bit of background on the restaurant that has only been open for a couple of months. At 6:15 on a Friday it was about 1/3 full but by 7:00 all the tables were full-apparently I'm not the only one who saw that article. The menu has quite a few nice options, all with a Latin twist and includes pasta, fish, lamb, chicken and more. We started with the Shrimp ceviche with house made blue and yellow tortilla chips which was so fresh and delicious-I would come back again just for that dish! For main course my wife really liked the Salmon with a sauce of lemon and dill-delicious and the Beef medallion special-two generous pieces of perfectly prepared, melt-in-your-mouth beef tenderloin with a beautiful and tasty potato pancake and fresh vegetables-won me over. Deserts were tempting but we were too full. They serve beer and wine as well although they mostly offer low to mid-priced selection; nothing to inspired. We ordered as part of #YelpsBigNightIn, deciding to go further afield to a place I had wanted to take friends before all this COVID stuff came down. I placed our order at 4:30 for a 6:30 pickup, which was quickly confirmed with an "Order received" reply. When we left the house a bit after 6 (it's a 20-minute ride one-way) I called and gave my payment info to Carlos, who was very polite and efficient. We arrived at 6:25 and called to say we had arrived, at which point Carlos looked at me in the car outside while he tracked down our order. He brought it out promptly (holding the bag daintily) and wished us a good evening. The ride home seemed to take forever, as the smell of our order was intoxicating! We quickly plated our meals, nuked them for 30 seconds, and sat down to partake. The wife went with the Achiote Chicken (Anchiote marinade pan seared chicken breast with sauteed fresh vegteables and roasted red pepper sauce), while I went non-meat with the Poblano Vegetariano (stuffed poblano pepper with fresh vegetables, black bean puree, drizzled with balsamic reduction). Do not let the strip mall location throw you off, you're here to eat and you won't be disappointed. This place is an authentic family restaurant with delicious food and great service. We started our meal with the Carne Empanadas and they were light, flavorful and not greasy. Played beautifully with a decorative cream and salsa to add to the beauty and flavor. I had the Iceberg Wedge Salad and added steak as my protein and it was done to perfection. The plate was beautiful and was artfully displayed and inviting to eat. My friend had Filet Mignon and ordered it rare. It came out plated beautifully and was done to perfection. Buttery and tender this is a steak to try. We were offered dessert but just couldn't do it... I think we'll go back soon and try dessert and some coffee.
